Breakfast burrito, tater tots, and cold brew
    Tommy V.

I've only had the breakfast burrito here and so far it was been so good! I enjoyed the avocado sauce they provide and the tater tots is so crispy and well-seasoned. This is my go-to breakfast burrito spot as of right now and I will be back to try their biscuit as it lives up to their name. Service was quick and friendly. The restaurant had a lot of space and the restrooms are well maintain. They also offer drive-thru which is convenient for people on the move.

Stopped in to try this place and I was very pleased. The food was hot and delicious. My favorite were the tots, which reminded me of grade school, but were seasoned to perfection. I ordered my husband the hungryneck platter with a country ham substitute for the bacon. They are running a special that you can make any order 1-20 a combo for $1. The prices are a bit inflated but most things are these days. I took one star away because Waffle House gives a larger meat portion than we received.

    Low Country

Ordered the Low Country biscuit to go, through the drive thru. Was surprised of how large it was when I pulled it our of the bag. Definitely had to wait and take bites at the red lights. I ordered no pickles, but pickles were on them. It had good flavors, but the biscuit was a little over cooked for me. I like my biscuits a little lighter. I would go back to try other items on their menu.

The Chatty Magpie Cafe is an amazingly cute place and is super convenient for my trek from Rt 26 across Ashley-Phosphate to Dorchester. I LOVED IT! I'm a CT transplant and have been looking for that hard to describe place that we northerners know exist. It's that "Hole in the wall, one step shy of a Greek diner, not a franchise or big name" kind of place. My search has ended. The owner greeted us as we walked in. She is very hospitable. She invited us to order and then take a seat. Our food was perfectly prepared. In fact, we both felt like she was charging too little for what we got. The sandwiches were amazing! We also got a slice of her "Lemon Roulette." She served it fresh from being rolled. It had the perfect balance of flavor and sweetness. I asked the owner about it and she said that all of her baked items are freshly made. If you're looking for a place to get an exceptionally delicious, breakfast or lunch sandwich at a great price and served quickly, this should be your new place to go. I know it is mine.

To mark the occasion, they introduced two new menu items: a delicious pork sandwich and perfect pancakes. I have to rave about the pancakes--they were just the right thickness and topped with honey. Who knew honey and pancakes were such a winning combination! If you're ever looking for breakfast or brunch, I highly recommend making a stop here. Everything is made with care: the sandwiches are always fresh, the bread is baked daily, and the bagels and pastries are handmade every few days. Elena and her team of cashiers and bakers are super nice, welcoming, and accommodating, always ready to answer any questions. Don't want to forget mention that this bakery also offers catering! You can order custom pies for special events, or get a catered spread of sweets and bagels--including custom-made cream cheeses. Check the side menu for all their special order options!

It's a great trendy location on the edge of Park Circle, conveniently has a small parking lot in addition to street parking and a tiny city lot close by, woman owned, and decorated super warm and inviting. So I really really wanted to like this place. Maybe it was the day I chose to go. I used YELP to reserve a spot on the waitlist, and met a friend for brunch before going into Highwater. Maybe they were unusually slammed. I ordered a Buzzed Donut, coffee rubbed bacon, with an over-easy egg on a pop biscuit doughnut with a side of shredded hashbrowns & mocha dip. Sounds amazing and unique! But the one I was served was burnt, hard, and had obviously been sitting under some heat too long and was past the point of being served. I politely brought it to my server's attention both dark coloring, hard texture, and burnt taste were affected, and while she did inquire, the answer was that it was the last one so a re-order was not an option. I was not trying to make a stink to my server or make my friend late to the festival, and they couldn't rush a new item, so I ate around the hard/burnt part politely. When the bill came, the server informed me she took 15 percent off that item. Everyone has off days, and I really wanted to like this place but the more I think about it the crazier it is to think I paid 85 percent of a meal that shouldn't have been served. When I worked in food service, I would have never served an item in this condition. I would have simply apologized that I didn't realize the kitchen was out, taken the item off the bill, and brought a replacement item or dessert at no charge. I had excitedly announced it was my first time trying this place when the server first introduced herself, and I'm just disappointed it wasn't 100 percent wonderful.
