A solid breakfast choice for the area , restaurant was quite full that morning. Parking lot packed but parking is free if you have visited location. Waitress very kind to our party of four guests.

Grits with bacon, cheese, peppers and an added egg.

Service is lovely. The waitstaff goes out of their way to be friendly. Perfect service. We both ordered the grits bowl. It was so large, we probably could have split one. Delicious. Wonderful toppings. Perfect on a cold, rainy day. The menu is huge and I cannot wait to go back and try other items. Their cocktails sour like tasty, interesting creations also.

Had a great dinner at KISS cafe. It was an invite only dinner pop up that normally held twice a month. It was a ln an Italian theme dinner night. From the Italian wedding soup, chicken dish, and home made spaghetti and sausage meatballs were a treat to my mouth! Really recommend this place for their special dinner pop up.

A Charleston local recommended KISS Cafe to us, and a quick search on Yelp confirmed this was going to be a solid spot to grab brunch on Johns Island. Our group of four stopped in on a Tuesday around 11, and we were able to grab a table right away! The interior is adorable - complete with fun, island-themed murals and decor. Our server was animated, and quickly sold us on their seasonal apple cinnamon bun. This was indeed delicious, with a melt-in-your-mouth apple pie filling beneath the bun, although I wish it would have been served warm! I ordered the B.E.L.T. for brunch, which was loaded up with bacon and eggs, and served on crispy toast. It's a pretty big sandwich, and well worth the price. I also ordered an iced coffee, which was smooth and not too bitter-tasting.

The Southern Charm Cafe was incredible as was the Greek salad and cinnamon roll. The best I've ever had gf bun, and gf cinnamon roll. My husband has the French dip which was also quite delicious. The owner was personable and great service.

What a wonderful breakfast restaurant! We enjoyed the special of the day - French toast with fresh crème and fruit compote. The service is fast and friendly! The cafe is cozy and cute.

    Our meal--the 3 of us.

The three of us had a late brunch/lunch. My Mother-in-law had Bill's waffle with added fried shrimp. A small bite of each was certainly tasty. The waffle was thick, but soft. The shrimp were expertly fried and well but lightly seasoned. The missus had the egg salad toast, with a small arugula salad with in-house made vinaigrette dressing. The egg salad was fresh, with not too much mayonnaise which some restaurants unfortunately load up. Now, to my meal, the Triple up, with lots of choices. Two eggs, cooked as per my choice, which was my standard: fried hard. Bacon or sausage, so I went with the bacon which was a flattened Patty seemingly made in the house as the spices were good but on the first bite they were a bit overbearing but then as you cheated it became more amazing wonderful combination. With the choice of Pancakes or french toast I went with the ladder. The toast was Softly and that's not harshly done and lightly sprinkled with some powdered sugar. The maple syrup served on the side was the right amount to add the taste to the French toast but not have it swimming in syrup. Absolutely all was delicious. The Kiss Cafe, in the middle of the day, was pretty well crowded and thus our service was a bit delayed after her efficient waitress brought us our water which was our requested beverage, as she also was training a newer waitress. Yes, lots for her to do in the crowded, but pleasant Cafe. Thankfully, they had inside seating as it was a quite warm day to sit at one of the outside tables, even under their umbrellas. There is the Cafe side, which about a year ago added the bagel side (where they seated us three). Thus, there is obvious success in the food, the business, the atmosphere, and the location just off Maybank Highway on Johns Island.

The yummy Vegan Sandwich the kitchen created

Fabulous vegan wrap! I asked the waitress for vegan options and the staff came out to ask about my preferences. Beans? Yes please. Beets? Sounds good. Quinoa, no thank you. Fries, we make our own. Okay. And this filling and flavorful wrap is what they came up with and it was yummy!

    Mimosa

Food was great and service was even better! I had the French dip and fries. The sandwich was perfect, meat was tender and everything was flavorful. The fries are exactly what I love in French fries, hand cut and crispy. My husband had the hash and said it was the best he's had in the Charleston area (and we've eaten a lot of brunch). The star of the show was the mimosas. Best mimosas in the Charleston area hands down! We will be back!

    Spiked Cinnamon Toast Crunch coffee

Big fan of brunch here - busy, but great staff and great food. Spiked iced coffees are bomb, chicken biscuit is insanely hard to beat and the fries crush too. Actually just order those 3 things and a bunch of sauce and you'll be happy

Always a good idea! French toast add chicken. Delicious! Their chicken is amazing and juicy! They make a stellar Bloody Mary and the service is always on point!

Off to a great start today!

I want to take friends visiting JI for first time on Saturday for brunch but I'm concerned about wait time. Do they take reservations ? If not, how long is the wait typically?

Hi Kathy B. We do not take reservations. It varys depending on the time you come in so it's hard to say. Typically before 11 you could get seated right away or not more than 20 mins. I hope that helps. You can always send someone ahead and put…

It's a truly lovely, relaxed setting--perfect for sitting down, catching up, and enjoying a slower pace. While the service was kind, it felt a bit less attentive than expected, especially since the restaurant wasn't very busy. We found ourselves needing to ask for a few basics like place settings and salt and pepper, which took away slightly from the overall experience. As for the food, there were definitely some highlights. The scrambled eggs were impressively fluffy and generous in portion--closer to four eggs than two--and the peach jam was a standout touch. The sourdough could have been toasted a bit more, and the bacon was slightly undercooked for my preference. The avocado toast, while creative, had quite a few competing flavors on top that overpowered the simplicity I was expecting. Our cappuccinos were average, but still enjoyable. Overall, Heyday has a lot going for it with its beautiful atmosphere and laid-back charm. With a bit more attentiveness in service and small refinements in the food, it could easily become a favorite. I'd absolutely return, especially for the ambiance and a relaxed place to meet and chat.

I remembered enjoying it during my first stay, so naturally I had to return. This time around I stopped by twice during our two-night stay. On my first visit, I was tempted by the limited-time LoveShackFancy collaboration and ordered the Pistachio Rose Matcha Cloud Latte. It sounded amazing: house-made pistachio rose syrup, your choice of milk, topped with fluffy matcha cold foam and rose petals. Unfortunately... it was way (way) too sweet. And this is coming from someone who usually likes sweet drinks. At $10, I powered through it, but it definitely wasn't for me. My friend ordered another one of the collaboration drinks and did not finish hers because it was overwhelmingly sweet. Thankfully, my second visit redeemed everything. I went back to an old favorite - an iced matcha latte - and it was just what I was hoping for. Service was excellent during both visits. While the cafe seems to remain pretty popular, it wasn't overwhelmingly crowded. I still love the atmosphere here. It's such a great place to grab a drink before heading out to explore Charleston or while staying at the Emeline. Lesson learned: sometimes the specials are worth trying... and sometimes it's best to stick with your favorite!
