Flint Bishop International Airport reminds me a lot of the Myrtle Beach airport. It's very simple: Two stories, an elevator and an escalator. The airport is currently being remodeled, so it's a work in progress. Let me start by saying that while at the Las Vegas Harry Reid airport I had to clean my own toilet before using it, here the first floor bathroom sparkled and was quite nice. No chipped gross mirrors here. I'm looking at you, Harry Reid. I'm giving 4 stars because all of the eateries were closed. If you have arrivals and departures, they should be open. You want to provide an exceptional customer experience right? Then you need to be open. Staff was present and friendly. The elevator worked well and was clean. The escalator was working fine. I didn't take it because of luggage. Although there was construction, I didn't feel hindered in any way. Passenger pick up was convenient and you could load right at the front doors. I'm originally from the Detroit area, and lived in Chicago about 9 years. Coming home to visit family back and forth throughout the years, I learned some ways. I did Megabus. I did Amtrak. I flew. Did all the things! The Detroit airport is about 25 minutes from my parents house and the Flint airport is about 50 minutes from my parents house. Flint airport, over the years, became my go to as: 1) soooo much cheaper. 2) soooo much cleaner. 3) soooo less of people. Win win win. Wow. How under-enthused it was driving in front of the airport, and through the airport drive to the front. The grounds are totally unkempt, HUGE masses of weeds in almost every bed, except the very front beds by pull up and drop off. When thinking about using a hometown airport, this is QUITE embarrassing to see, to drive family through, and to visit. There are flat dirt beds with weed masses, as well as tree and flower beds with weed masses. It is very underwhelming to say the r least. Bishop Airport, you need to do better for your airport if you actually want to take PRIDE in your airport. As of right now, it's not pleasing to the eye for those who use it regularly, visit often, or have family and friends fly in. read more

However I hate that at security you have to dump your water out (as usual) but I'm in the city of flint so I'm not able to fill my water bottle back up, so it forces me to spend money on a water bottle. Everything! The return flight was the smoothest landing I've ever experienced! I now prefer it over Metropolitan.

For years I have stated that I would rather fly out of or into Bishop than any other airport I have used anywhere in the world. But! They really destroyed my opinion of the airport services when I arrived one evening and waited for almost 2 hrs for my luggage to come out on the carrousel. It finally came out and was crushed with the hard shell ripped open and my contents coming out of the luggage. The hard sided shell was crushed, ripped open and the closures completely ruptured. There was no staff of any kind in the airport except 1 skycap we saw briefly and then he was gone. There was a police presence outside the building directing traffic and I am not exaggerating, NOBODY else in the entire airport except the passengers. Came back the next day and Allegiant staff said they could do nothing as we didn't report the damage the night before...THERE WAS NO STAFF WHATSOEVER THE NIGHT BEFORE! They gave us a phone number to call but Allegiant is another issue. They refuse to consider our claim stating "you overpacked the suitcase". But back to Bishop airport. 1.) No staff on arrival 2.) Emailed them 3 times over a couple of weeks seeking possible assistance/guidance re the luggage issue (they guarantee a response within 24 hrs.) No response ever. Very disappointed and I certainly can't hold the airport in high esteem any longer. read more

Much smaller airport and terminal than Detroit Metropolitan airport. Depending on where you live or are driving from, can be much less of a drive than the 15th busiest airport ( DTW). Easy-breezy to drop off and or pick up anyone traveling from this airport. read more

Avoid this airport if you can. The airline counters close 45 minutes before the flight, so you'll have to be there at least an hour prior, while the flight to Chicago takes 45 minutes. It's a policy that no other airport in the world has. read more

The small city Airport. 8 to 10 gates, small operation, intimate airport. You can literally throw a ball across the concourse. No, this isn't your mega giant hub, it's your small city destination. It's a fairly new airport and it's like a mini me of the DTW airport. Been recently renovated, it still has the nice fresh new airport smell to it. Size wise, it's not very overwhelming. So there's no excuse about missing your flight by going to the wrong concourse. Anyways, just like any airport. Your only real responsibility is to make it here as early as possible. The TSA, ticket agents, and airline employees didn't wake up this morning to make it harder for you to fly just because you decided to do this. Trust me, it's totally better than driving. It had been a while since I had stepped inside Flint Bishop Airport. I must say that I was quite impressed as the renovations undertaken a few years ago have really spruced the place up. The terminal common area now sports a very nice look with the high ceiling giving a marvelous spacious feel. The check-in areas are easily accessible and the baggage claim and rental cars are just down the hall. FNT is the third busiest airport in Michigan servicing around 1 million passengers per year give-or-take. There are six airlines that use this facility with a handful of direct destinations (seven at last count). There is plenty of parking in front making it easy to get there and get away. The location near I-75 is ideal. In general, I love small airports and this one is extremely easy to navigate. The trade-off is that you will have to connect nearly anywhere you want to go. But I'll take that trade-off in exchange for user-friendliness anytime. read more

I consider it more of a service station - you don't get much, just the bare necessities. It is a very, very small airport, however, it has its perks (as noted by Charley B. so I won't repeat them here - go Charley!). I can't say how good the food is though because I've never eaten at JJ's (located on the second level). Maybe next time I will give it a try. I guess I don't have any complaints. Go Bishop! There is a lot to like about FNT. The location, the ease of entry/exit. Few passengers. It is just low stress, low pressure. It is obviously small, but it does not pretend to be anything other than what it is: a nice, regional airport. It works and it's easy. I would even go so far as to say five stars, but I think the amenities (gift shop, Rochester Mills Brewery place) are always closed. Are they even in business? That aside, totally recommend FNT if you can find the flights you need. read more

Pretty great customer service in the airport until you get to the bar where the worker was rude and more focused on closing down the bar than being actually nice to someone walking up for a quick drink or bite. I witnessed 5 people altogether who wanted service and I assume got the same terrible attitude. Sure that every customer in the airport would have wanted a drink before they travel and we were all shut down! Airport staff great! Once I approached the restaurant = reasons to fly out of Detroit now. Hopefully someone reads this that could understand that even tho you have 5-10 people wanting to have some food and drink will still lead to about .70 on the Dollar for service and maybe an extra $50 in tips for 30 minutes worth of work... Wow, what a great airport. Visited a customer in the area and decided to fly into FNT rather than my usual DTW. Arrived from ATL, and even though it was snowing and very cold, came in right on schedule. This is a small airport so the taxi from the runway to the gate took about 3 mins. Went to the rental car counter and was pleased the cars were right outside the terminal, no bus to take as we do at the larger airports. Return trip was just as easy. It was only about 4 degrees so dropping the rental car at the front door was a plus. Homeland Security people were very helpful and pleasant. Very efficient security process. No Pre-TSA line, but when they say Pre-TSA on my boarding pass they let me go through the metal detector with shoes on rather than the full body scanner. Lots of nice shops and food facilities past security. Everything looked very clean and new. This place beats the larger DTW and will get my business whenever the flight schedules support my meeting requirements. Nice job FNT! read more

World's best airport? I think so. You can either park next to the gate or across the street for whooping $6/day.The cheap parking lot has fantastic shuttle drivers who do not let you lift your own bag. They also play solid tunes and have good stories for the 2 minute ride across the street. Once in the airport, you walk a couple of feet, and you are at security. If you are meeting a friend, there is a nice lounge area filled with comfortable couches. Before your flight, there is Caribou coffee and Sam Adams pub where the Bloody Marys are only $10 (cheap for airport). In fact, you can sit at the bar until they call your zone if you are at Gate 6. As far as airports go, this tiny International airport in Flint, MI is A-OK in my book. You never have to walk too far to get where you're going, and the rental cars are located just outside the airport. Security lines are a relative breeze, compared to places like O'Hare and Hartsfield-Jackson, and the free Wi-Fi is definitely appreciated. I even scored a Flint, MI baseball cap for a friend for only $5. read more

Nice small airport that is efficient. I have not been here for years and boy has it changed! It was bright, clean, and fast in and out. I had a direct flight from MSP which makes this airport convenient for more northern appointments. I did not have to wait for my luggage as it was out on the belt as I was walking down the stairs. So we usually fly into Detroit Metro when visiting Michigan but this time flew into Flint Bishop airport. It is a smaller airport with only 1 terminal and 15 gates so a lot less crowded. Found it very easy to get in and out, and pick people up. I can say even if the flight costs a little more I will be flying into Flint next time we visit! read more

This really is a top notch regional airport. It is clean, with plenty of places to sit, snack/drink options on both sides of security, a large greeting area for arrivals, plenty of parking, immediately adjacent rental car lot and short lines: for TSA and check-in. Everyone is generally nice, the atmosphere is laid back and there is free wifi. The only downside is that if a flight were to be cancelled, there are few options to reroute, which is understandable as schedule are a dictated by demand. read more

What a great airport. It's smaller and schedule is not as convenient as metro, but everything else is quicker. From quick parking, fast check In, and quick walk to the terminal. I'm always willing, if possible, to fly out of Flint rather than Metro. Always a clean, pleasant, and trouble-free experience. From checking in to going through security and waiting to board, Bishop is the most peaceful and least hectic place from which to fly. The only issues I've ever had (which haven't lowered my opinion whatsoever) were a rude clerk at the Delta lane (I was the only one there -- always early for my flights) who in his haste to get me out of the way, gave me a boarding pass for someone else and clearing security with the same incorrect boarding pass, where I was the only one in line and I was cleared through without issue, even though the agent looked at my ID and pass. I only discovered the mistake when I was checking to find my gate. The clerk at the gate helped me, but was as shocked as I was at "How'd you get through security!?" I tell you all of that only as a reminder to check your boarding pass before leaving check-in. But all-in-all, I always look forward to flying out from, and flying in to, Bishop. read more
