Old fashioned service that is rarely seen these days. Al Giraldo is wonderfully easy to work with. I began working with Mr. Giraldo in 2020 while he was dealing with two business challenges that would have been my undoing. As if the Pandemic weren't enough, Al Momentum's shop in Preston Royal was ravaged by the October 2019 tornado that tore through the heart of North Dallas. While the building with his shop is being restored, Mr. Giraldo works out of an apartment across Noel Road from the Galleria, where he meets with customers by appointment in the building's well-lighted lobby with comfortable seating. If he can't buy or sell something for the price you want, he will explain why, including what he has invested in it and how he is calculating his pricing. I appreciate the honesty. They have a large inventory and are actively trading a lot. It seems like he is making his money by keeping a lot of activity moving through his store at the best prices in town. He's not trying to make all his daily profit off of big premiums on on a few transactions. I keep looking for other deals in Dallas, but I keep coming back to Uptown because it's the best deal financially and certainly the best service experience I have found to date!

That's when they told him he needed to put down money "in good faith" before they'd even create the CAD drawing--but they wouldn't clearly tell him how much or explain why. When the first CAD finally came back, it looked nothing like what my fiancé had asked for. Instead of admitting the mistake, they insisted his notes were wrong and theirs were right. Then, when he asked them to fix it, they wanted even more money before creating another CAD. It only got worse from there. They had told him the ring would be ready in time for the week he planned to propose, but by then they hadn't even sent the corrected CAD. He was trying so hard to keep everything a surprise, but eventually he had to ask me to look at the designs to make sure he wasn't crazy. Turns out he was right the whole time. By that point, he'd also gone about three weeks without hearing anything from Mark, so he decided to cut his losses and ask my dad for the name of his family jeweler instead. Then came the part that really crossed the line. After deciding not to move forward, Mariloff wouldn't leave him alone. They repeatedly called and texted him, and after he blocked them, they actually started messaging him on LinkedIn. The cherry on top? The family jeweler quoted him less than half of what Mariloff wanted for the exact same ring. These people are absolute scammers. No other word for it.

They told me they would sell my engagement ring and take 10%. A year of waiting they never sold it. I asked if I could just trade it for a few other pieces. They didn't have anything in the website I liked so the owner Scott said he could make me anything I want. I asked for a bracelet, necklace and earrings. I sent him pictures of everything. The bracelet looks NOTHING like the one I asked for, the earring posts were so loose one fell out the first time I wore them. Luckily, I felt it and didn't lose it. The necklace broke and thankfully fell into my dress. Then I sent back the earrings for them to fix and they were supposed to make me a small ring for the inconvenience. I sent Scott a picture and rather than telling me he can't make the ring I want, he just sends me some random really ugly ring that looks nothing like the one I wanted. When I told him his response was "that's the closest I have." Why not tell me before sending some random ring. I should've known better since the bracelet was not the same, the necklace broke and the earrings had to be repaired.

I have taken three different watches here, including a 2021 submariner, a 2005 sub, and a vintage 1964 Datejust. The basic price to restore a watch will be about $900, excluding parts. You don't always need parts - my 2005 just needed servicing and now works perfectly. The '64 Datejust was $1600, but that included significant replacements including the crown, the hands and the dial. Along with the polish, your watch will look nearly new when it is returned to you. Great service, as you would expect from the brand.

And I would continue to use / recommend using the manufactuer RSC as they have the experience, tools, and spare parts necessary to complete a service. I tend to have my timepieces serviced following aircraft maintenance philosophy "service after x amount of time regardless if running poorly or not, as gaskets degrade with time, so does the lubricating oils inside watch and its much less costly than repairing it after the fact than if it had an accident such as water damage, or rotor striking the movement body. In my opinion, you were condescending, inappropriate, rude, and acted in a truly despicable manner. For the record, I explained to you that I bought the ring for my late wife as a 10th wedding anniversary gift almost 30 years ago and that it has been sitting in my safety deposit box since she passed but my daughter is now of age and wants to wear the ring. Hence the need for the insurance appraisal. I further explained that the diamond was purchased from McGivern Diamonds but set by Jared Jewelers. I explained that I lost the original GIA Certificate and although GIA will not issue a new certificate they will provide a letter detailing the information on the certificate at a cost of $30. At the meeting, I provided you with the original letter from GIA and attached was the receipt for the $30 fee. Although all of this was true and easily verifiable with McGivern Diamonds and GIA, you made numerous inappropriate statements as if I were a common thief. This included ridiculous comments about how you were surprised that the measurements on the GIA letter matched the actual diamond. Worse, when you asked for what I originally paid for the ring you offered to buy it for $11,000. You obviously did not believe that it was for my daughter from her late mother. You thought I was a thief and would jump at an offer to pawn the ring. To add some additional insult, I was told that the appraisal would be provided immediately. But when I paid you with a check you said the appraisal would be emailed to me in 2 days. I guess you needed to make sure the diamond thief's check would clear before providing the appraisal. Unfortunately, I doubt I am the only one you treat so poorly. Perhaps I am just the first one who is calling you out for your truly horrendous behavior. On a human level- not transactional. He would not take the first answer that seemed pretty clear which he could have easily taken. He spent ample time with me, exhausted every method he had been trained to rule out any alternative possibilities and brought peace back to my heart. He could have charged me the sun and the moon but he was more than fair in price and far above and beyond in service, empathy, integrity, and overall professionalism.
