I was a client of Bishop Pool Service for about five years. I inherited them from the previous owner, so they're well aware of my pool being a saltwater pool. That said, it was always a challenge to get them to use salt instead of chlorine when they would adjust chemicals and clean my pool. No matter how many times I asked, they would forget and continue to use chlorine, which unfortunately was too harsh on my toddler's skin. I made multiple calls about this and reminded the technicians multiple times about this, but I would still get a new technician every six to nine months, and I had to start all over again. The two straws that broke the camel's back were: 1. A 30% increase in monthly pricing 2. A new technician explaining that the reason they can't add salt is because it slows down his route I switched over to Ralphie's Pool Service and am already much, much happier. Ralphie's pricing is significantly less expensive, they bring their own pool salt, and they don't even charge you for the salt. Bishop also charges $300 to clean pool filters compared to $100 with Ralphies. Joel (my technician for the past year at Bishop) was awesome btw. read more

We have been using Bishop Pool and Repair since our pool was completed almost three years ago. The service has been great for most of the time. There was about four or five months last year that we questioned the service were getting. The owner came out to do the service after we had made him aware of our concerns. At that point we were considering changing service companies. He apologized for the service quality had dropped off. He performed the service and at no time did he try to pressure us into continuing with his company. But with the service that Zach performed that day and the introduction to the new technician that would be doing the pool in the future. Mylo is now servicing our pool and doing a great job. We have a chemicals only service and he has kept our pool chemicals spot on. Mylo is doing a great job in keeping the chemicals in our salt water pool right where they belong. and, he is willing to answer any question we may have about the pool. Because of Mylo, our confidence in Bishop Pool and Repair has been restored. I also like that each month they check all chemical levels. Alot of the companies I have checked only check all chemical levels every three months. The normal weekly check is for chlorine and phosphates just like the other companies and monthly check of all other chemical levels where a lot of other companies only do this quarterly. read more

I don't know what and why this happened to me from a company that has been in this business for long enough to trust but the least I can say is that I received a bad service. I started using bishop 6 months ago. I was only interested in pool chems since its the only thing I don't know how to. Do myself. We know how to clean our filter, we know how to brush the pool and we know how to clean the skimmer basket and remove leaves and We have a robotic vacuum. But we always kept on missing up the chemicals. They are nice people when you talk to them. But Here are my problems with them: 1- you can almost never get to meet with the tech who comes out for the weekly pool service even if you request it. Mine used to come really early and even when we asked that he would come a bit later so that we can see what he is doing they would say we can try but it never happened. Unless I make sure to be outside in the backyard before 7am I will probably miss him. 2- the last 2 months they either started having someone new or someone who doesn't care but the pool color started getting greener and greener. We brought it to their attention. They confirmed chems are perfect. The issue could be the filtration system. We checked out system, it's working perfectly fine. We checked the water temperature. It's not too high to cause any issues. We are brushing the same way we used to for the last whole year. Nothing has changed on our end. I bring it up again when the pool turned really green. They confirmed again that their tech didn't see any issues with the chems. They suggested to send someone for diagnosis which would cost $125. Mind that this fee is just to diagnosis and will not be part of the cost if we decide to fix any issue. So I asked a neighbor who has a pool and in a one minute he said you have algae. Just shock the pool and you are good to go. It would have been nice if my tech who comes every week would throw a free tip like this one instead of asking for $125 just to say the word algae. Now I know the response they have will be " we can't suggest unless we check" Here is what I have to say about this, algae rarely grow that bad unless chems are not balanced especially if my filtration system is working just fine. I went to my local pool shop. I got the water tested and like I expected chems where off. This was right after their last visit. I paid over $200 to treat the pool after at least 3 weeks of algae in pool that became too hard to fix and probably stained my pool. But this is what made me really sad and had to give them 1 star review, I texted them a bunch of texts telling them what happened and took pictures of the water analysis showing that chems were off. Then requested to stop the service because I felt like it was a bad service and all the response I got back was " ok, we will stop serving your pool." Not even 1 call saying sorry how can we make it better. read more

It finally happened--my 25+ year old pool motor died. I had a home warranty at the time, and they required me to use a different company in Sacramento. Long story short, that company did nothing, and the whole saga caused us to cancel our warranty completely. But that meant we had the freedom to choose whoever we wanted to replace the motor (and a second motor for a waterfall). I received an immediate quote, the parts were ordered right away, the work was done professionally and in a timely manner, and the office staff kept me up to date with the progress (ordering, receipt of part, scheduling). I recommend Bishop's Pool Service to anyone I know that has a pool because they do good work and they're the best in town. Service has really gone downhill. Tried to scam us for money for our "broken" pool vacuum when we asked them to return our vacuum my husband had it up and running the next day once it was finally returned. Our pool is green and we are paying for the bronze service. They don't clean out the pool baskets or skimmer baskets like they are supposed to do and have them on video literally here for maybe 3 minutes total when they come for service! Also told us we have a leak- the newest way to get more money! We turned off our auto fill just to see and did what leak people said. Guess what no leak! However they said they have to "charge" us for more chemicals because our pool has a "leak". It's ongoing!! Be cautious they are absolutely scamming for more money any chance they can get! In response to owners reply. They did say they would have to charge us even more for chemicals. Just didn't charge us yet because we DID NOT APPROVE! Why would we? There was no over site you told us our pool vacuum was inoperable and it would cost us like $800+ for a new vacuum. When we asked for vacuum back it was working fine after my husband fixed the inoperable vacuum. What a joke! We contacted the leak company that you recommended and they had us run some diagnostics and like I stated no leak. In addition, they stated they would give us a free month because of the fake vacuum scam. Then they actually sent an additional bill that we are unclear of what these charges are for! They just came Wednesday this week and supposedly did chemicals. Guess what went to have water tested today at Leslie's and they said there is no way they have been putting the appropriate amount of chemicals in our pool!! Water was completely off. Paying over $150 for a monthly service to have "chemicals" done seems like it should actually be balanced or close, especially not even two days after they supposedly serviced the pool. What I stated was true and factual as to what happened to us. When we started service with them several years ago we were really happy. It has done nothing but go downhill. read more

Moved into a new house with a pool and most of the equipment was busted. I had hardly any understanding of how to maintain a pool. Zac came out, diagnosed everything and gave me options on equipment replacement/repair. I chose to have most of the equipment completely replaced to put it all on one control panel. Excellent work. Can't begin to express how pleased I am. Zac and Nick just spent two hours to fix the system a previous service completely screwed up. Turned out to be just a couple of orings. Actually they did a lot of work. The previous guy couldn't figure out the lack of s, so he just cut off the in ground suction and ran one over the side. Still couldn't get it to work. So after over two years of listening to excuses I dumped him. Enter Bishop! At Zac's suggestion, had the suction line tested by Bullseye. Then Bishop plumbed the inground suction back in and serviced/replaced some orings. And it alive!! 7/1/2020 UPDATE: Pool pump died again. Kept tripping the breaker. Zac came out and found the UV gadget, the previous pool guy installed, was corroded thru and full of water. Cut it out at my request and we are back on!! Thankyou. read more
