Let me start by saying I absolutely love the food here. They have a lengthy menu, however, it is BYOB. There is a store that sells wine within walking distance. Gluten free items are available but I would recommend specifying that you have a gluten allergy. I ordered a chicken meal that I assumed was gluten free based on the ingredients, however, I did not realize it was prepared with flour. Luckily, the waitress caught this before it was prepared. Staff was excellent and very attentive. The restaurant is somewhat small so I would recommend making a reservation. I will definitely be returning in the future. read more

My boyfriend and I came here with a Yelp deal and only ate sushi, but still it wasn't that good. 3 stars for great service, really nice ambiance, and a valiant effort on the food. But please, Bistro 1051, just stick to Italian. I'd never been to this restaurant before so I wasn't sure of what to expect, but when I walked in the restaurant was beautifully decorated, and clearly BYOB--a date spot for sure. It also has an indoor patio where the sun streams in, but it's intensely hot so we were directed away from that area. We were immediately greeted and our water glasses were continually filled, which I really appreciate because I always drink like 40 glasses of water when I eat. The waiters were extremely friendly and asked frequently if we needed anything. The sushi was just okay though. It tasted somewhat like freshly prepared sushi from a supermarket. It's not gross or anything, but not something you're going to savor every morsel of. I usually eat ALL of my sushi, and this time I left a few pieces. We should have known to not order sushi from a place that doesn't specialize in sushi. I may come back to try out the Italian, but if it's anything like the sushi, I'd pass. read more

Fine dining in Clark. At first glance of the menu I was concerned as the menu is all over the place from American, Italian, to even including sushi! Usually a sign that a restaurant is trying to be excellent in too many things but Bistro actually does it. The sushi wasn't bad! Everything is high quality and the presentation is nice there. Great atmosphere and management is friendly. Love the tartufo there! It's a hard dessert to find sometimes and I love it there. BYOB spot if you choose to bring. The prices aren't cheap but are reasonable for a nice meal out. Lunch here is nice as well. Relaxed ambiance and they don't rush you out. Enjoyable spot. read more

Wow! Our meal for a family of 5 was incredible. I highly recommend you try this place at least once. I had a special which was wild mushroom ravioli with truffle cream sauce. It was amazing.. The sauce in every dish was incredible!!!!!! Seriously. The buffalo calamari was very good. As was my Cesar salad and the mussels were very very very good. I really enjoyed them. The other people in my group had spicy salmon roll, penne in vodka sauce with chicken, founder with crabmeat special, and veal. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the food! Try this place!!! I made a reservation by phone 2 months ago for 12 people. I adjusted the number of people to 14 by phone 2 weeks ago. I got a phone call less than 3 days before my reservation that it couldn't be honored because of a mix up with on-line reservations. They wanted me to change the reservation to 3 hours later. I told them I had people coming from out of state and that was impossible. I feel my reservation which was made 2 months ago should have been honored and the others cancelled. This is bull***. It was fine; I might come back, sure. There are way too many things on the menu. Sushi, pizza, steak, pasta, seafood. Cut it down, stick to a few items that you're really good at. Our experience: My flat bread was decent. For apps, we got calamari (good) and the grilled octopus (eh, not great). One of my friends got the Bronzino and thought it was very good. Another got the steak and really liked it. My husband got the filet and asked for it medium rare ...well, it got there medium well, and he's sort of anti-sending anything back (and he was hungry). Kinda ruined it for him--I think he wouldn't go back. But, hey, the place was cute, it was packed, it's BYO ( nice!), and very friendly service. Wonderful hidden gem of a place! I work right on Central ave in Clark, and came across 1051 on one of my lunch trips out of the office to grab a slice of pizza. I finally decided to try it out the Saturday after valentine's day with my girlfriend. First off, the ambiance is wonderful. They have a heated glass "sunroom" area, which was open, even though there was a foot of snow on the ground. Beautiful place to sit and enjoy a meal. The only downside was the large crowd located a few tables over. As a heads up, this restaurant serves wine, but does not have a bar, and therefore does not carry hard liquor. However, it seems that they allow you to bring your own. There was a group of about 8-10 people a few tables over that had brought a 1.75 L of Jack Daniels. Needless to say, as the night went on, they got louder. Still, I give the 1051 staff credit, as they did ask the party at one point to be respectful. They serve wine by the half-bottle, which is always a nice touch. I feel like that's the perfect amount for two people. Wine was better than I expected too, considering the price; I really enjoyed it. Still, I don't claim to be a sommelier... so take that last statement at your own risk. The food was very well done as well. There was a nice spread of selections on the menu. However, both my lovely date and I were in the mood for some seafood. I ordered the pan-seared scallops, no complaints. She ordered the salmon, which also was wonderful. We finished off the whole meal with some Creme Brule. Exquisite. All in all, a very nice spot. I'd certainly go back, especially since the bill was less than I expected considering the wonderful dining experience. Yummy food and GREAT service! My boyfriend found this spot on a whim and it was a great decision. The service was AMAZING everyone was super friendly and accommodating. We made a reservation ahead of time but when we arrived we didn't really need it. We were seated immediately and the waiter came shortly after. The flatbreads are yummy which we got for an app and the bread they serve after you order is FRESH BAKED! I ordered seafood linguine w/ whole wheat pasta and have lunch leftover for tomorrow! Tonight was our first time at Bistro 1051 and we have nothing but positive feedback. Our waiter was attentive and the food was amazing. My husband had the lamb chop special and was very pleased with it. I had the halibut dinner which was very moist and delicious. My children had the ravioli and burger and both did not complain. We also had the pork gyoza and garlic shrimp appetizers. Both were very good. The shrimp were crunchy and not mushy. The owner introduced himself and was very personable. You don't find places like this often and we will definitely be back. You must try this place!! read more

Went to this place with my boyfriend & we both loved it!! We had The King Kong roll & the Yummy Roll (I believe that was the name). They were pretty good, but I think our main courses were better than the sushi. I had the Horseradish Encrusted Salmon with mashed potatoes & my bf had a steak that was part of the specials. This was by far the worst experience I ever had entering a restaurant. As a person of color, please spend your money elsewhere, they have no need or want for you there. Booking a reservation weeks in advance does not matter, you will have to wait for your whole party to be seated( even though some "people" did not have their whole party with them and was seated). Been here before several times for dinner and it was always a great meal with great service. My husband and I had our son's Confirmation party here on Saturday and it was fantastic! We were seated in the atrium (glass room). Our waitress Linda was very friendly, patient and helpful. She provided excellent service the whole 4 hours we were there. We had family style appetizers of cold cuts platter, eggplant rollatine, fried calamari, baked clams, and chicken skewers. Everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. We also did a pasta course of ravioli which were also cooked to perfection. Next was a Caesar salad course which was also very good. We gave our guests a choice of 4 entrees - chicken parmigiana, cavatelli and broccoli, veal marsala, and flounder orgenato. All of these entrees were ordered by our guests. They were all very good and cooked perfectly. My son and his friends ordered chicken fingers and they really enjoyed them. All the entrees were large portions and everyone loved their entree that they ordered. We brought our own cake but they served platters of pastries which were ok. All in all we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day. Everything was wonderful. We enjoyed ourselves. Our guests enjoyed themselves and my son will have fond memories of this day. read more

Came here for dinner the first time with my brother. The restaurant was clean and the service was friendly and prompt. We both ordered the Maryland Crab Soup which was delicious. It was creamy with a little kick and had a generous amount of crab. It was served piping hot too. We really enjoyed it, and looked forward to the rest of our meal. We shared an appetizer of Kobe Beef Skewers. The presentation was very appealing. Five grilled skewers on a bed of mixed greens, drizzled with a small amount of brown sauce, maybe a teriyaki sauce which complimented the beef. We liked that the beef was very tender and tasty. They were served on the rare side, so if you want them a little more cooked you need to ask. For dinner my brother ordered the Penne Pasta with Vodka Sauce which he said was very good and I ordered a Spider Roll which I thought tasted very good. It was a little smaller than I expected, but honestly couldn't have eaten any more having snacked on some bread after we were first seated. I was very pleased with my first visit and couldn't wait to go back with my husband. 4 days later I brought my husband there! It was a little after 8:30 pm and although the restaurant was busy, the hours on the door said open until 8:30, so I asked if they were still serving and happily they seated us after checking with the kitchen. We ordered 2 apps, The Shrimp with Chorizo and the Kobe Beef Skewers & 2 Sushi rolls, Yummy Roll and Suzuki Roll. Everything was delicious and again the staff was very friendly! See when I read the reviews I feel so upset because it seems that what happened to me and my bf seems to be an isolated incident. And I wasn't going to write a review but I'm still skeeved out and I just can't get over my experience. We walk in on a Friday night with a reservation. No doubt they are going to be busy but when we got seated there was no social distance. I mean there was literally 2 feet between the two table on either sides of us. I looked at my bf like what the hell?!! But we sat and tried to enjoy our date. He planned a whole evening and we tried to enjoy it. The serve comes by and says she will be right with us. It takes her 15 min to get to us and grab us drinks. We ask to see the cocktail menu, as we had not known it was byob. We admit that was an oversight in our part. She told us it was byob but the liquor store was over there. But when my bf made the reservation you would think that that would be something that they mention to him. Again we weren't mad about that bc he didn' look. We ordered our app and our meal like a total of 30-40 min of being sat. Whatever we work in a restaurant we know how it's like to be super busy, part of the reason why we sat there. Not to mention the whole time the restaurant was so loud. I mean I had to shout across the table because of how loud it was and me and my bf couldn't hear each other. I was under the impression that bistros and Italian Restaurants where supposed to be quite, romantic, but it was the opposite. It felt like I was In an expensive high school cafeteria. We finally get out appetizers around 8:50-9 pm. And we eat. It was good I will not lie. We wait 20-30 and finally our food is coming out. We wait so anxiously and then it gets placed on the table next to us. Ironically they ordered the same thing as us. With them being less than three feet away we hear them tell the food runner that their appetizer had still not come out. I looked at my bf and laughed bc at this point it was ridiculous. We start laughing and making light of the situation and just continue waiting what else are we gonna do. We saw them take a bite of the food and eat some of the mash potatoes and the pasta. A couple minutes later the food runner comes out and tell them he brought it to the wrong table and takes their plates BACK INTO THE KITCHEN. I look at my bf and tell him " bet you they try to serve us that in 5 minutes". NOT EVEN 3 MINUTES later the waitress comes out with our food. Mind you we haven't seen the waitress for over 20 min. The last time she stopped by was after the app was delivered and then 30 min after when she tried to serve our food. I told my bf that I was not eating that I felt super uncomfortable at this point. My bf politely tells the waitress what had happen that we had seen the whole thing happen and that we just felt uncomfortable and didn't want our food just the check. she felt bad and insisted on bringing the manager over. The manager comes over and introduces himself but he states he is the owner. This is the same guy we say an hour ago down a bottle of wine while eating his meal at the counter in the dining room we were at. He comes over mask on his chin. Not even covering his mouth fullll blown on his chin. We understand if you don't believe int he virus. We get that but it's disrespectful to approach someone without a mask if you are taking face to face with them and are working. Regardless he comes over and claims that they would never serve something like that. They would never reserve the food and claimed that the table next to us had ordered the same thing and that both meals where sitting next to each other in the window. If that was the case why did we wait 30 min after our appetizers?? the table had ordered appetizers, meaning that there was no way that their food had been even remotely ready as they hadn't even received their appetizers. We insisted on leaving and paying for what we ate and he decided to give us a gift card. As if we would ever come back. But the kicker was that it was only a 25 dollar gift card. The sum of the meal that we were looking forward to eating was 71 dollars. That gift card doesn't even buy my lobster ravioli that I looked forward to trying. Honestly, my gf and I once attempted to go here several months ago, got to the front and were put off by the strip mall storefront. So glad we gave it another try! The Italian Sushi combo is a bit weird, so we stuck to the Italian. Our server Crystal was incredibly sweet and friendly. We starred with zucchini flowers - awesome. So how great is this -- really good Italian food for my wife, excellent sushi (for real!) for me, steaks and chops for my brother-in-law, and grilled fish for my sister-in-law. Always a lively crowd, so much neighborhood fun and camaraderie. This is a "go to fave" place if ever there was one. I have never had bad service here, not once. Just the opposite, weeks go by but the waitstaff always remembers us from the last visit, knows what we like to drink, etc. The real star is the owner, always standing by at the door -- he has honored SO MANY special requests for me over the last couple of years, I can't say enough good things. I see some reviewers complain about the service and the owner ... they must be living in some alternate universe. Here's the thing -- everyone who works at this restaurant was great to us when we first came, this is not a "only for regulars" place at all. This restaurant received so many good reviews that my friends and I thought it would be a great place to have a "Girl's Night Out / Birthdays Celebration" Boy... we were wrong! When you're sitted at a restaurant the waiter usually tell you about the specials, soups, etc... what the restaurant "has to offer." The waiter we had was High (off of drugs) and suggested items that the restaurant didn't have. We was told by the waiter that we HAD to order our appetizers and main course all at the same time. After we ordered noticed that other tables that came in after us was getting their orders but we didn't get ours. Hour and half later ( no exaggeration here. Tables of people came in ate and left by the time we received the appetizers.) we received our cold appetizers on a warm plate. The appetizers was so cold that you could see the sauce had separated. The High waiter took the appetizer to the kitchen stated that we would get a fresh new plate. In 5 minutes he returned with the same plate food steaming hot... sauce still separated. That did it! Went for family dinner n was pleasantly surprised... how can a place that serves sushi, Italian, seafood n steak provide good food? Well everything we ordered was delicious from tender grilled octopus to flavorful dry aged NY strip that was tender n juicy! Their fish dishes were great, except for the Flounder which was good but not as good as other dishes we had.
