This is literally the best place I've ever been. I have ordered food for lunch and it is always so good. Literally never a bad plate. I've never had such quality savory food. But tonight we had our company dinner here and it was even better. The food was fast prompt and continuous. Table was cleared so plates didn't build up and we had space. The staff was fantastic. This restaurant received so many good reviews that my friends and I thought it would be a great place to have a "Girl's Night Out / Birthdays Celebration" Boy... we were wrong! When you're sitted at a restaurant the waiter usually tell you about the specials, soups, etc... what the restaurant "has to offer." The waiter we had was High (off of drugs) and suggested items that the restaurant didn't have. We was told by the waiter that we HAD to order our appetizers and main course all at the same time. After we ordered noticed that other tables that came in after us was getting their orders but we didn't get ours. Hour and half later ( no exaggeration here. Tables of people came in ate and left by the time we received the appetizers.) we received our cold appetizers on a warm plate. The appetizers was so cold that you could see the sauce had separated. The High waiter took the appetizer to the kitchen stated that we would get a fresh new plate. In 5 minutes he returned with the same plate food steaming hot... sauce still separated. That did it! Went for family dinner n was pleasantly surprised... how can a place that serves sushi, Italian, seafood n steak provide good food? Well everything we ordered was delicious from tender grilled octopus to flavorful dry aged NY strip that was tender n juicy! Their fish dishes were great, except for the Flounder which was good but not as good as other dishes we had. Service was excellent too, everyone from waitress to bussers were all very polite and prompt when asked for something... didnt feel like we were eating in a NJ restaurant! Was a bit concerned at the start as 1) there was a potential issue with our reservation and 2) it was packed and noise level was high. Ultimately it all worked out. Food was fresh and hot. I went to the 1051 Bistro for a party lastnight. Unfortunately my girlfriend was already sick before coming so we couldn't make it through dinner. I found the waitress and told her my situation. She was more than accommodating. She asked the kitchen to please make our food fast for us. Just for the service I received alone I would come back. However when we got home I sat down and ate the meal I ordered, Azul pan seared scallops. It was one of the best meals I've eaten. The scallops were perfect and the lobster risotto was creamy and delicious. I look forward to coming back there again and again. read more

My husband and I go on date nights here and we are always extremely happy with our meals (we always order the strip steak with blue cheese and balsamic vinaigrette....amazing!! the sushi is also phenomenal) and appetizers. We planned a sit down dinner for my husband's birthday last year and every single person at our table of 16 could not stop raving about the food..and they all had different dishes! Just wrote a long review and clicked something and lost everything so I will be brief. We just came back from dinner there, it's Sunday night. The food was excellent and the portions were generous. What I really wanted to comment on was the owner and the staff. I had read a few reviews complaining about the owner and the service. I have no idea what they could be talking about unless there is an agenda or it's a competitor writing. There was a problem in getting our entrees and we did have to wait awhile for them although the salad and appetizers were brought promptly. Both the owner and the staff, on several different occasions, came to explain what was happening, apologize for the delay and offer something on the house to tide us over. The problem was a power issue and having worked in a kitchen, I know how these things happen. What happened was beyond their control and I've seen it before elsewhere. But, what was within their control was their reaction to the problem and, it was better than I ever expected. The owner and the staff could not have been more gracious or more hospitable. It was as if we were family. Anyone can complain about anything but if someone is complaining about the owner or service at Bistro 1051, there's something else going on. My boyfriend & I decided to come out here for our Thursday night date after picking up bottle of wine from the liquor store down the road. After ordering, 10 minutes later we received cold stale bread rolls with butter. (bread is the easiest thing to salvage by just throwing it in the microwave for 5 seconds). Even olive garden gives you FRESH breadsticks. As we're waiting for our food (mind you, an HOUR) I start to notice hard water stains on my silverware and metal table. Fine, if it was on one fork, not a big deal, but every single silverware? There was also dust on the window sill I was sitting next to. I order mushroom ravioli which usually comes with some type of steak but because I don't eat beef, I asked it to be subbed with chicken. (This was very good if you like truffle sauce) My bf ordered Chicken Diane and he asked to substitute tomato sauce for pesto cream sauce. She made us aware that there would be a small charge; of course that is fine with us, appreciate the heads up. We asked for it on the side so we got a little less than would usually go on the plate. The dish consists of just breaded chicken and boiled linguine, so a bit later when our plate was kinda dry, I asked for a lil more pesto sauce. "Sure" she said, not specifying any further charges.. She came out with a smaller saucer this time. It was enough and we were very grateful. When the bill finally came, we were charged 3.99 for subbing pesto sauce, and then another 3.99 for the extra sauce we asked for to liven up their bland dish (which was an even smaller saucer than initially received). My ravioli dish was still $29.00 despite my substitute for the chicken. So you can charge me 8 dollars for sauce...but you wont charge me accordingly if I remove steak from my dish? Oh alright.... still, we looked past that and gave her my cell phone to redeem the yelp deal ($10 for $20) and a debit card to put the rest of the payment on for our $65.00 check. She comes back with gratuity already included on my card. Since when do high rated restaurants include gratuity on a check of 2. Waitress told me they add tip automatically with any yelp or living social deals. I was planning on paying my tip in cash and instead I had to deal with higher charge on my credit card. After looking all through the rules and regulations and terms and conditions, no where on yelp does it say gratuity will be included. I should have initially called the owner to dispute my billing in the first place but he was too busy hiding behind a counter knowing what he did was wrong. My experience was semi decent until the end when the fishy charges and whole dealing with my bill experience turned me off and because of this I will not be returning. I don't appreciate owners that don't work with integrity and sincerity. read more

Tonight was the first time we ate at Bistro 1051. From the fresh hot bread, to the delicious clams in white wine to the lobster ravioli, Bronzino and stuffed flounder. One thing tasted better then the next. So fresh. Seasoned to perfection. Our server Daniel was beyond awesome. It was such a great experience, I booked my moms 60th birthday dinner. While we were walking out, we met the owner Michael. What an involved owner. He personally booked our reservation for later this month! We look forward to the next visit. Went here with a party of 15 people for a birthday just a few days ago. The menu is eclectic, primary on seafood, japanese and some italian. I went with a brick oven pizza that was simply delicious! everyone was served promptly and out waitress was phenomenal! The place itself has a warm and inviting feel. We hosted a large party of about 80 people. My wife and I read all of the reviews and were very excited to try Bistro 1051. I would say that the restaurant, food and service are all very middle of the pack. The room was very cramped and every ounce of space was used to accommodate our 80 guests. The most the room should hold is 60 - 65 max. The decor and set up was fine outside of that. Next the food. I understand that the food is made to order so it takes a little longer but our party was from 3:30pm - 6:30pm, the pasta took about an hour and a half, there was no bread as a buffer and the main course came out about 5:30ish. As far as taste, the pasta (Penne Vodka) was excellent, I had the Chicken Marsala, which was very bland, I tasted no Marsala wine at all, the vegetable sides were good. Other feedback that I had gotten was that the eggplant rolitini was average and that the Tilapia was good. As far as service goes I personally didn't have a bad experience, but then again I held the checkbook. I found out afterwards from some guests that some of the staff was rude to them. Overall I would say maybe they are better for small dinner parties, but they are not well equipped for big events. Update - 1-03-2016 After posting this review the owner Michael called me to go over the experience. He was very courteous and understanding and took all of our feedback in stride. To me that makes for a good owner who cares about his business. I appreciate the call and as stated in the review there are good facets to my experience at Bistro 1051 and I would consider giving it another try. read more

My wife & I went to try out the restaurant yesterday. Nice & clean place serves excellent Italian food with Asian fusion influences. Chicken on top of Thai peanut source flatbread is very creative & tasty. Fried calamari salad is perfect. Rigatoni with Italian sausage, sun dried tomato, broccoli rave was light & refreshing cooked to exactly my taste. Service is great. We found the restaurant on Yelp with a check-in couple 15% off the menu. We will come back. read more

One negative is that the acoustics in the glass enclosed room aren't the greatest and very loud conversation nearby was a bit annoying in the quiet restaurant. Service was excellent. 7pm, 9/2/2016 Nice simple and clean place, very welcoming owner and friendly waitress, very clean bathroom. These guys have potential .... if they would cut their menu in half. pork ossobuco and beef short ribs. Neither of us thought the the meats in our plates were cooked in the sauce it was served in. These are both brazed dishes where the meat and sauce/gravy meld during their 3 hours of simir. The short ribs were probably a piece of chuck, though the pork was a large shank. The short rib sauce was a non traditional almost black think glaze, possibly a balsamic base. We also had their famous balsamic calamari - would be a lot better with half the balsamic glaze. We might try it again, but wouldn't spend for their $30 plates. read more

We went back this week for our work postponed Valentines Day dinner, this is one of the rare local places that's opened on monday night. Surprised to see they have added fresh lobster and steak on a hot stone to the menu. Started off with our favorite, the four cheese flatbread. I had the lobster and my wife ordered the steak. We had a great dinner. When we arrived, we saw a couple of lobsters in the lobster tank in the front. By the time we left, the tank was empty. Still one of the better local BYOB spot in the area. I was not happy with my food here. I got the spicy roll platter and a gyoza appetizer to go. They told me 25 minutes and I arrived in exactly that time. I have a feeling that they were way off and it was sitting there for a while.. By the time I got home 10 minutes later the gyoza and miso soup were cold. The sushi was mediocre. They used regular white rice, not sushi rice. The pieces from the end of the roll had almost nothing in them. The spiciness from one roll to the other differed. And the fish was minced in two of the rolls but whole in the other. It was very busy so I had high hopes, but I don't think I'll return. read more

Very nice and cozy, but the tables too close to each other, I was able to hear the couple next to us I felt sorry for the guys date... He bored her with his job conversation, haha that's how close we were. The service didn't start too good, they ignored us and at first we felt it was a bit of discrimination since all the tables had been greeted by their server except us. After 10 mins my date decided to talk to the host who apparently was the owner. We soon got a server apologizing and from there one we had a server check our table every 20 mins. We ordered the surf and turf special for $40 and sangria pitcher for $25 the total of the check $120 including desert. The the sauce in the lobster tail and mash potato have it the seasoning if it was not for that it would have been quiet plane. The sangria was good and had its little kick. The lobster tail could have been bigger for $40 dollars I was expecting steak it was smaller than 6oz. The place said Italian but there was very little to choose that was Italian. It is more American food. (Steak,sushi,grilled fish) I might come back not sure if it's worth the price. read more

Came here for a nice and relaxing Saturday night dinner! It's BYOB and a wonderful atmosphere and a great place to hang out with friends and spend the night chatting and enjoying delicious food! Service can get kind of backed up but we didn't mind since it was so relaxing and didn't feel like we'd stuff ourselves in the face. We ordered stuffed mushrooms which were so juicy and totally worth getting! I wish more came on the plate though since there were only 3. Also had the Chicken Linda which I still have in my fridge and I am still excited to eat! Portions at Bistro are plentiful and you'll definitely have fabulous leftovers for the next day. The mushroom sauce went perfectly with the mashed potatoes and the sautéed garlic beans matched just right with the chicken. Usually when I order dishes like this they taste relatively salty or band but I would definitely order that dish again since it tastes totally homemade, so I was super happy that this came out so delicious! Their Oreo ice cream pie is also worth a try- definitely one to share. Can't wait to come back and try their other entrees and appetizers. read more

Last night seven of us went to Bistro to celebrate my friends engagement . Parking was available in the lot in front. We had a reservation at 7:30 and check in shortly after. We waited in the lobby area which was a little tight but after a few minutes our table was ready. We were seating in the room to the right. The lighting on the ceiling was a pretty touch. Although it seemed like an add on or addition it was not cold in there. The menu was large and had a lot of variation. From Italian to sushi to steaks and chops. To begin we started with a variety of appetizers . The buffalo calamari was excellent . It was topped with blue cheese crumbles. We also got a few flat breads, salad, and sushi rolls. Everything was great. We did order tuna tartar and never got it. By the time we realized our food was out and we didn't notice. Every meal came hot and on time . I ordered linguine and clams which came with chopped clams and clams in the shell which was a nice touch. This place is conveniently located for me, less than a 5 minute drive from home, however I rarely go here because it has taken minimally two hours to eat dinner. 4 of us went for dinner on a Saturday night. I have to admit I was a little skeptical about the quality of the food after I saw the extensive menu. The menu is large and very diverse with everything from pasta to sushi. With that in mind it's hard to believe they can make any one item well, but they do. All the dishes we ordered were prepared wonderfully, both visually and to the palette. Service and atmosphere were run-of-the-mill, nothing to complain or rave about. Prices are very reasonable and being a BYOB is also very nice. It's my understanding Bistro 1051 has been open for 9 years and this was our 1st time there, that being said I believe we've missed out on a lot of delightful dinners and have a lot of making up to do. I LOVE THE BISTRO!!!! I go here all the time. This is one of my favorite places for sushi - ALWAYS super fresh. Michael (the owner) is always willing to accommodate you the best he can, even if the place is PACKED! He is genuinely friendly & courteous...so are all the servers. The Bistro has a great variety of sushi, and you won't go wrong with any of them. I have tried almost if not all & I have LOVED every single one i tried. Their lobster bisque soup is to die for, probably the best I have ever had. They also have Italian/American dishes & those r also very tasty. I particularly liked their seared scallops with risotto - simply amazing! :) Its BYOB so you will save some $$$, but their prices are very reasonable as well. YOU MUST TRY THIS! read more

I have known about this restaurant from it's opening. I never tried it, we don't eat out much. I saw the sign for steak on the stone and was interested in going. Its been months but we finally tried it. Wow, do I feel foolish for not going years ago. From the relaxing decor, a bus boy that saw my table shift and was instantly putting a wedge under it, to the taste of the food, this restaurant surpassed every expectation. From the service to the food, Bistro 1051 is absolutely amazing. I called them very late on Valentine's Day, around 9pm to see if they had any last minute availability. I originally had a reservation at another restaurant where they ignored me and my friend for at least half an hour. I was assuming that they were probably closing soon, but when I called I had the pleasure of speaking to the owner, Mike, who told us that we were more than welcome to come in and that he would have a table ready for us when we arrived. When we arrived he himself sat us immediately and our waiter, Daniel, was not far behind us asking taking out drink order. Mike came over to us a few times during our visit to make sure that we had everything we wanted, that our meal was good, etc. Our waiter was excellent as well. Even at the time we came in on V-Day he never let that affect his personality. He was super friendly, helped us with our menu questions, as well as making some recommendations and checking in on us after we got out dinner, which was delicious. I don't review places at all, but I have to leave one for Bistro because they absolutely deserve it for making us feel as welcome and taken care of as they did. This is a well known restaurant in clark, tucked away in a little plaza. The environment and food (Italian/sushi...bit of an odd combination) is average. We've had good and bad experiences when it comes to this restaurant. I would say too highly priced to have such inconsistencies. The staff and owner have always been nice though. If looking for a better choice in Italian food, I would recommend Ferraro's in Westfield. read more
