    Filet Mignon and mushroom risotto
    Chris G.

Ate there tonight on the Valentines Day PreFix menu, which is app, main and dessert for $80 each. Drinks are extra. The table starts with bread and flat toasted bread crisps along with whipped butter. I like it better when the bread is warm, but it was still good bread and the toasted buttery crackers were unexpected and enjoyable. For apps we got the Buratta served over a breaded eggplant round, which was generously portioned and nice. Also got these fried battered balls with gnocchi inside with a cream sauce. Unique dish ive never seen before and it tasted good. Apps were good but mild in flavor. For mains were got the Filet Mignon, which was cooked properly and tasted great. Also the mushroom and pea risotto served with the steak was very good, with a deep, slightly smoked flavor. Also nice portion. The other main was the crab stuffed salmon with sauteed spinach. It was a good dish, the salmon was almost perfectly done, just slightly over, but there was not much crab stuffing. The spinach was great, and i used the bread to mop up all the sauce, so i cleaned my plate. Overall, the dishes rely more on the natural taste of the main components, rather than lots of herbs and spices. The flavors are good, but not bold. Dessert was a large slice of chocolate cake with chocolate chip icing. It was a nice slice of cake. The service was friendly and attentive. The prices skew high, as we ended up at $230 for 2 people before tip.

Ricardo took amazing care of my wife and me. Shrimp cocktail was super fresh; great cocktail sauce. The stuffed mozzarella appetizer special is 5.0 / 5.0. I got a veal entree with taters (lumpy not seasoned). She got pasta with clams shrimp mussels & peas. Her entree was amazing. Dessert we shared creme brûlée & tiramisu. Both excellent. Scratch made. Amazing experience. Locally owned. We will be back. Great date night. My wife is 12 days removed from the birth of our 3rd child and she looks smoking hot tonight.

Ordered fettuccine/chicken. It was cooked perfectly. It was delicious. We also ordered the seafood salad- great! And calamari which was ok! It would have been better if they took it out a few minutes earlier.

Seated pretty promptly. Lots of staff around to take care of your every need. The music was wonderful oldies type of music I heard Edith Piaf, Louis Prima, Frank Sinatra and Michael Bublé for example. I ordered the salmon and sautéed spinach dish with an appetizer of calamari. Everything tasted fresh and delicious very flavorful. I was very pleased. For dessert I got warm apple tart and it was heavenly. I enjoyed my time

One of my girlfriends and I got together to get brunch. When we arrived we parked in their private lot. I walked in and was greeted by the manager/bartender Fernando. He was very nice and sat us in the bar area. There was a large party there dining as well. Fernando started us off and Antonio finished serving us. I had the mussels and fries for my meal and my friend had the Belgium waffles. The mussels were tasty and so were the fries. My friend enjoyed the waffle. I truly enjoyed my meal. Only small issue is they couldn't break my money to tip and Antonio seemed to be rushing us out at the end which wasn't cool. Everything else was cool and the bill was affordable.

Excellent food choices and superior service today. Staff were very attentive but never annoying. Luis was a great server. I had the grilled calamari salad which was good. Wanted to try the Lobster Roll. Maybe tomorrow

We arrived at 6:30pm for our reservation. There was a table by the front door with a thermometer but no one took our temp or had us sign in for contact tracing. The dining room was at about 30% capacity. Tables were close together and diners were not seated 6 feet apart. Server did not respect social distancing. Manager frequently pulled mask down to speak to staff and patrons. Other patrons removed their masks while walking though the restaurant. There was live entertainment so patrons had to speak loudly. It was difficult to hold a conversation. Food was average and not worth the high price tag. Appetizer plate was so hot, it could not be picked up. More and more diners were seated to the point of 1 table was available. We were so uncomfortable with the situation, we finished dinner quickly and left.

Very good place for lunch. Three of us stopped by for lunch before heading to the airport based on a recommendation. I was very pleased. The decor was elegant and the music traditional New York Italian with Frank Sinatra playing in the background. The waiters even had a good Italian accent. Linen table cloths and other fancy features great you as you sit down to eat. They have an extensive list of lunch specials at very reasonable prices. The food portions were large and my lunch was spot on. The Pollo Parmigiana was excellent, probably the best that I have ever had. So good setting, good food selection, excellent food, at reasonable prices...sounds like a winner. I wish I could have stayed longer, but I had to run to the airport. I will eat here again when back in town.

I picked it knowing the solid rep of Jessica's Cafe in Plainfield, so I can't say I was stunned to find out this was awesome - but given the expectations coming in, this probably even slightly exceeded them. Pretty cool. This was literally my first time in Fanwood, unless you count taking the Raritan Valley Line through here to Hunterdon County back in the day (I don't think it counts). The weather was a little iffy throughout the day, which I'm assuming played a factor in the town feeling a little desolate when we showed up. It reminds me a lot of the Newport neighborhood in JC - super, super gentrified. Maybe it's just the section where Jessica's is though, right across the street from the train station. We parked over there, not entirely sure if that was naughty or not, but given our outdoor seating, we easily could have peeped a cop or tow truck driver before anything terrible happened (I think it was fine, given it was a Sunday night). All that to say though, I'm not entirely sure where the ideal parking is if it's not at the train station. We were only in the restaurant for a minute (enough time to ogle a fridge or freezer of tasty looking meat to the right of the entrance), so I can't speak to the spiffiness of the interior. Even though rain was a possibility, it seemed worth the risk to stay outside due to the temps and large umbrellas. No regrets in that regard. We were seated promptly and ordered shortly thereafter, while also receiving some decent bread and butter with a bit of olive oil drizzle. Quite tasty. Somehow it's become an informal tradition, but if it's on the menu we usually get the Grilled Octopus. One of the better ones we've had. Nice and crispy (texture to me is the key to this one) and seasoned well. The accompanying potatoes were a nice touch to the proceedings - would totally get this again. A lot of the other apps looked good too, but someone accidentally made me birthday weenies on the grill earlier, so I couldn't get QUITE as frisky as I normally would. Both of us gave the lamb a long, hard look (and my chum wondered aloud about the ribeye special for the rest of the evening - possibly the one that got away) but I ultimately went with my classic Short Ribs entree. Delicious. Tender, flavorful and the perfect serving size. I was a little nervous that a puree versus mashed would mean the potatoes were too wet or liquidy, but not the case at all - they maintained their relatively solid integrity as far as I was concerned. I forgot to take a picture of dessert, but I got the Creme Brule. Also excellent, and at the perfect temp. I think there may have been a birthday musical accompaniment with that, but it's all a blur. Arguably just as good if not better was the service. Our waiter was super personable and professional, stopping by regularly and just added a hospitable touch to the meal that brought this to the upper echelon for me. Service is king, and it matters - you can't take for granted the ability of your server to essentially riff for two minutes on their menu knowledge, as well as just good-natured banter. Had that in spades. Coming back for sure - Womb Exit Anniversary or not.

We started the night with drinks: the sparkling Cosmo, Cupid's Kiss, Sangria, and finally, an Espresso Martini. I highly recommend the Cosmo; it was just sweet enough, and the edible glitter made it so festive. As for the food, we started with complimentary garlic bread and oil. I could have easily eaten a dozen; the bread was soft on the inside with a perfect crust, and the oil had great Italian seasoning with a light hint of spice. For appetizers, we ordered the sausage and potatoes (which came with peppers, a nice touch), the Caesar salad, and truffle fries. For our mains, we tried the orecchiette, bucatini carbonara, mushroom and spinach gnocchi, chicken saltimbocca, and penne vodka with a chicken cutlet. The highlights were the bucatini carbonara and the mushroom and spinach gnocchi! Everything came out in a timely manner, and our waitress was super sweet and constantly checked in on us. I'd definitely say it's worth a visit if you're in the area!

I sat at the bar and was handed a short, simple menu. Service was exceptional the whole night, attentive without being overbearing. Started with the Caesar salad, deconstructed and nothing like the classic version. The dressing and nuts gave it a nice twist that worked. The meatballs were a mixed bag. Texture was spot on, and the basil added something nice, but overall they were bland. Needed more garlic, and I couldn't pick up the umami from the parm or the saltiness from the prosciutto. More of both would've balanced it out. The pizza was the real showstopper. Perfect char, perfect chew on the dough. The habanero pie with pork loin had just the right amount of spice, every bite landed. Overall, I'd go back, and next time I'm trying the truffle oil on the habanero

The ambiance was pleasant and there's an option to dine outdoors (not my preference, especially literally on the sidewalk). The service was wonderful, our server answered all of our questions, and made good suggestions. She was knowledgeable about the entire menu, which was great and useful. The food overall was mediocre. We began with Tomato Bruschetta as an appetizer and I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors. It was delicious! The bread itself stole the show! I would not have ordered it, so I'm glad that my friend did. We also add the fried calamari, which was excellent. It was crispy and nicely coated. The marinara sauce was watery and flavorless, further proving why I am not a fan of it. However, I did dip my calamari in the mango & sweet chili vinaigrette... AMAZING combo! Then there's the Giuseppe Pizza, good but not great. Again, the bread and crust were the major flavor points. Not over or under done, just right. The chicken and arugula on top, nice touch. Lastly, the mango salad and an addition of shrimp. Overall, everything was just okay. I would not be in a hurry to go back, but we enjoyed our time. Keep in mind, there's an additional charge if you pay with a card. That seems to be the ridiculous trend these days with restaurants everywhere.
