Heard great things about this restaurant and always wanted to try. We ended up getting a gift card from a family member for Christmas so tonight my fiancee and I decided to finally give it a go. Unfortunately, the experience did not come close to expectation. We both ordered the drink special of the night (called the Hummingbird). I enjoyed mine, but my partner did not as much. She eventually forfeited hers to me and ordered a beer. I quickly noticed her drink was much stronger than mine which is likely why she was unhappy. We ordered food around 7pm at the latest but did not get served our plates until 7:45pm. It was busy for a weeknight, but that is still much too long a wait. Other families had been there before us and also waited a long time to be served. I assume they waited as long as we did, if not longer. They had a doordash driver in at one point who had to wait at least 20-30 minutes for the order. A couple other doordash drivers piled in behind him, both waiting about 15-20 minutes. When I went to the restroom, I noticed they only had two people working kitchen. A restaurant that had a bartender, a bus girl, and five waiters only had two chefs... I wonder why things took so long. I really don't get the point of having five waiters if the kitchen staff can't pump out meals fast enough and is understaffed. Maybe one of your waiters should trade in the black button down for a white jacket to speed things up. I know cooking is not exactly easy to pick up, but literally just having one more person back there to do some grunt work could go a long way. When we got our food it was okay. Plating and quality was substandard for the price point. The plate itself looked beat and worn. My partner's filet was much too salty. My blackened pork chop was seasoned poorly and lacking flavor. Honestly the quality of food did not matter as the experience was soured by the wait. read more

I loved this place! Looked this up on Yelp and sure glad we took the opportunity to drive a little out of where we were staying to come eat here. This place is located in the old downtown area of Tracy, Ca. The surroundings are not the best but it's cool to see that they are trying to make this once bustling area turned crappy nice again with shops and restaurants like this one. The inside of this place is super nice and modern with seating outside at a walk up bar area, inside bar and tables. Once seated we were promptly waited on and ordered some drinks to start. On this particular day it was all about getting some food based on being hangry. After a quick glance of the menu I decided upon the chicken pesto meatballs off the appetizer menu and a beet salad. After a pretty short wait our food came out and I will say these little poultry wonders were amazing basking in the marinara sauce. The sauce was so good I scooped up every last bit of this served with thin crispy crostini's. My salad was also unique served with beets and in between was a goat feta mix of cheese that was super delicious on a bead of arugula. We were super happy finding this gem of s place and will for sure be back on a trip through here. read more

Went here for dinner this past Saturday night. I had driven all the way from San Jose, because my date, she lives in Tracy. I had absolutely no problem with that. We called from her place, made a reservation, and the problems began as soon as we arrived. They got her name absolutely wrong over the phone, but luckily the phone number she gave was correct. We were told over the phone that we wouldn't be able to sit inside, that we would be seated outside. Which was cool because outside was way better, and the weather was great! We were seated, and ordered drinks. 35 minutes later, and after asking the waiter numerous times, no drinks. I eventually had to mask up, go inside to ask the bartender about our drinks. She was in the process of making some drinks, (actually more socializing, and slowly making drinks) but let me know that the margarita my date had ordered was already made and it was on the counter behind her. I asked her, "if I can go ahead and take the margarita?" I absolutely saw no problem with that, but obviously she did. She rolled her eyes at me and told another girl behind the bar to go ahead and give me the drink. Mind you, this was 35+ minutes after we ordered our drinks! And I still left the bar without my own drink! Once our waiter finally brought out my drink, I told my date "If you're going to want another, you'd better order it now, if it's going to take them this long to make it!" Now let's get to our server. After asking him multiple times about our drinks, and having to get them myself. Another 20 or so minutes went by as if we weren't even there, until I had to stop him to let him know that we were ready to order. At this point, we were there for well over an hour when our food was finally served. Now this restaurant, has "fancy place" pricing. "Fancy place" placement of their food. Unfortunately, the quality of the food did not match their presentation. I ordered a cheeseburger, with avocado and bacon, with garlic fries. I also ordered the sizzling shrimp. My server came back to let me know they were out of avocado. Which is fine. My burger was served, and the cheese wasn't even melted. Why? Because the burger was just "warm." My garlic fries, (which they charged me more for) was literally about 16 fries with some garlic sprinkled on top. Now to be fair, the shrimp was fantastic!!!! And by the way, once our food was served, our server was very attentive. Obviously, at this point (not at all before our food was served) he was working on his tip. Now I've seen the other reviews, about this place being a family-owned business, and how the locals love it. I respect that. And I'm not one to just slam a place. But it is what it is, and this was my experience. If you're going to provide a somewhat upscale experience. Be sure that experience holds up across the board. read more

I was really impressed with this restaurant. I am from San Jose and everyone knows the Bay Area is a foodies haven. After eating here I could say Bistro 135 is of Bay Area quality. I stopped by Bistro 135 while visiting a friend that lives in the area. He recommended we drink at the Commons, located down the street, and have our bites here. We ordered the Hot Artichoke dip and Chicken Pesto Meatballs to share. I also ordered the Garden of Eden cocktail, at the bar, which I thought was alright. BUT the fooood! Our small plates were so delish. The Chicken Pesto Meatballs were mouth watering. The individual flavors of the tomatoes, garlic, balsamic vinegar, and pesto meatballs all splash together on your tongue for a scrumptious treat. I am craving them right now as I type this haha. As for the Hot Artichoke Dip (also amazing) was the best artichoke dip I have ever tasted. I'm still trying to figure out all the ingredients so I can recreate the recipe for a future dinner party. Perhaps another visit here to solve my mystery wouldn't hurt? I ain't mad! If I am ever in the Tracy area, I'll definitely stop by to enjoy some delicious food at Bistro 135. Me and my girlfriend come here every year for our anniversary, and every year we get stuck in the same seat behind the hostess and up against the wall. I don't know if it is because we are a young couple or what but it is easily the worst seat in the house. This year was our five year anniversary, and we got stuck in the same seats. I never want to say anything because we always have a good experience and I never want to start the night off on the wrong foot, but I watched another couple in and be seated in one of the larger tables in the middle of the dining room. The hostess seated us and gave us our bread and said she would be back with vinegar and oil for the bread. 10 minutes pass and our server comes by, takes our drink order and we ask for vinegar and oil for our bread. 10 minutes later we finally get our drinks after watching the bartender socialize the entire time. Another 5 minutes pass and she comes by to check on us and we once again ask for vinegar and oil for our bread, she says sure and grabs it for us but by then our bread is cold. After another 5 minutes (30 minutes into being seated) we finally get our appetizer and I ask for a new appetizer plate because mine has vinegar and oil on it. We then watch her walk to the back, grab another order and drop it off, go take another party's order, and go to the bar to talk to her coworkers for another few minutes when I finally ask the hostess for our check. The hostess goes and tells our waiter and she comes by to ask why for her manager. I tell her everything that I have written here, she says ok and grabs our check. We ended up having to pay for the Mac n cheese we never ate because we were waiting on a clean plate and left. Never even got an apology. My husband and I ordered food to go from Bistro 135 a few weeks ago. They said it would be ready at 7:15 (45 mins). I walked in the door and stood there as the hostess walked by me about 8 times, never once acknowledging me. Another party walked in, the hostess sat them, them came back to help me. She said (with irritation/rudeness) they were behind, it would be a few more mins. I stood there for 35 mins (after the 7:15 pick up time) & finally left with my food at 7:50. The food was good but I felt ignored, then the staff was rude and the food was so, so late. Don't think I'll go back...so many other restaurants that are welcoming and nice to choose from. read more

Wow I did not realize I never wrote a review. Just happened to be in the area and realized it. I came here with my mom for her birthday in august 2016 for drinks and food. We had a great time - better yet - she had an amazing time. I can't remember exactly what we ate or drank but it was all yummy and delicious. Sorry I can't review exactly what food I ate but I do know it did not disappoint. The service was great, I remember the young lady was new and very sweet and attentive. It is a little pricey for Tracy but if you want a good food and drink experience with a little atmosphere- ya gotta pay a little more. It's not ridiculously expensive - just more than a regular hole in the wall restaurant but you get much more also. Side note - if it's busy it can get pretty loud so it's not cozy and romantic but still very nice atmosphere. I will be back in soon. In the meantime - YOU come try it!! read more

We came here to celebrate our cousin's birthday. Let me start by saying if you don't have a reservation, they will not treat you well. We came on a Thursday around 6 pm. Quite a few tables were open, but the hostess stated they were reserved, so we were seated outside. We thought, since they have heaters out, we would be okay. None of the heaters worked. This was due to the owner not being there for a while. Not too sure what that has to do with anything. They were clearly out of propane and needed more. I had to use the restroom a few times, so I noticed that the open tables remained open for our dinner. Once we got our food outside in the freezing cold, they offered to seat us at an enclosed bar area (also vacant since we arrived). We finished our meals inside the bar area. I wish they had a better system for seating and overall better service. Nothing made sense to us. This was our second time visiting and probably the last. The first experience was similar; we were seated outside then brought inside once we received our food. It seems like a hassle for the guests and even the servers. read more

This place made me start reviewing, just wanted to make others aware that this place does not live up to its high prices. Chicken Parmesan is the safest choice at an Italian restaurant, I usually try it out and gauge how it is. My wife on the other hand is adventurous and decided she wanted to try the butternut squash gnocchi. Let me tell you the two foods were so different in terms of flavor. The gnocchi was over salted, to the point where I was having to take a gulp of my drink, it was filled with cheese, good luck to my stomach later. We left this dish to the side and didn't finish it. The chicken pen on the other hand was so bland. I was using the tomato sauce on top to provide some flavoring - which didn't do anything. Overall the place does not live up to its price. They were fast with the food though, that was about it. Paid $50 for those two dishes. read more

What a little gem right here in Tracy! When you're on your way East or West and are hungry for lunch or dinner - stop by Bistro 135 and you'll be very happy. We were returning from the Gold Foothills one recent Saturday and thought we'd try this place out. It's located in Tracy's original downtown area that has gone through redevelopment but hasn't yet hit the pace of congestion thank goodness. Our waiter offered original cocktails for our consideration but we opted for a nice Zin. We were told of the specials for the evening and ordered the tomato soup (YUM!) as well as the Cous-Cous and Arugula salad. DELISH! The salad was very generously portioned and we took the balance home for part of our dinner the next evening. It was still terrific! Next time we stop in we'll be sure to have a larger appetite to try some of the other entrees. read more

Never, and I mean never, eating here again. Ordered take out over the phone and the staff was great. However when I went pick up my order I saw that the entire kitchen staff was not wear any sort of face covering or gloves and were not following state health guidelines. On top of that the entire restaurant was full of patrons at tables all also not wearing masks. Had I know this was the environment I was walking into I would have never ordered. I had to wait about fifteen minutes for my food when I arrived and I should have just told the hostess I didn't want it anymore because after seeing all the selfish people not caring about the surge in cases and the safety of others absolutely turned my stomach. read more

Very impressive bar and eats. Calamari was amazing and the jalapeños mixed in and fried with gave it a perfect zing. Wife's chicken pesto pasta is aromatic and the zucchini in it was perfect. The crispy chicken was perfection. Noodles al dente, couldn't have asked for a better dish. I opted to return upon the share menu for chicken meatballs and jalapeño bacon Mac n cheese instead of a traditional meal. I'll tell you with no qualm it did not disappoint. Every bite of every dish was beautifully seasoned and the chicken meatballs???? Holy jazz fingers the chicken meatballs in marinara are instant favorite. Will absolutely return and see what comes next and since we just moved to town this will be spot number one on the foodie list. read more

This is a very long post as so many things led to this one-star rating. Bypass if you do not enjoy longer posts. Let's get the bona fides out of the way first: My wife and I have lived in Tracy for 10+ years and have been patrons of Bistro 135 since they opened in 2016. We have enjoyed great service and many tasty meals there. One of our last meals out, right before restaurants were shut down, was at Bistro and - when restaurants were allowed to once again serve food for pick-up/delivery - we made certain to order from Bistro. We have ventured out very few times for meals or drinks during the last year, and we always pay attention to what businesses are doing for their staff and patrons to keep all safe. What follows is a listing of observations and sins we encountered: - 10 minutes to be greeted after walking in. 3 to 4 people waiting for takeout or to be seated (masked), full capacity in the main room and bar (not a mask in sight as they talked, laughed, drank, coughed, sneezed). Spacing between patrons inside and for outside seating was maybe two feet. We also noticed one of the wait staff lowering her mask to speak to patrons and, when she went to "the pass" to check on food, she lowered her mask to scratch her nose (directly over food, before picking up a couple of plates). We request to be seated outside where the waiter assigned was wearing two masks. - Once seated, our waiter finished rounds with other tables and came to get our drink order. We ordered Old Fashioneds, which then took 20 to 30 minutes to arrive. Not a good sign for such simple drinks to make. Glasses of water brought to the table were sans ice. - Side note: Few other patrons outside were wearing masks as they also talked loudly, sneezed, coughed around us. Businesses are walking a fine line and perhaps feel they cannot enforce any rules (they can, it's private property), but then they should consider reducing capacity in order to space patrons out better. - After ordering food and chatting for about 45 minutes, we noticed that a couple of other tables were brought bread with BV and VOO; we were not. Made 1st request for this at this point. - Finally received bread...but no BV or VOO. Requested Balsamic and VOO - again - at this point. It arrived another 10 minutes or so later...and we were still waiting in our food. - An hour has now elapsed. Our 2nd round of drinks arrive, but now it is after 8pm. We overhear our waiter tell a nearby table the kitchen is running about 45 minutes behind. Well. That's not promising. We also observe he is getting no help bussing tables. - Now nearing the 1 1/2 hour mark, I get up to go to ask what the problem is. After asking at what point we might expect our food and clearly expressing my displeasure, it was amazing how quickly our food (along with warm bread and, finally, BV and VOO) arrived. - Now for the food. I had ordered a plate of shell pasta with a short rib ragu; my wife the Bucatini cacio pepe. While we are familiar with al dente, the pasta in each dish was only half cooked at best, soft in some bites, still crunchy in others. The short rib in the ragu was dry and neither dish was seasoned very well. Neither of us finished our plates. - At this point, it should be noted that after I went inside to inquire about our food, several patrons seated near us began to ask the same questions. Two couples actually just asked for their checks (that only included their own late-delivered drinks) and left. We commiserated with one couple over our shared experience. I believe this brings us to the end of the evening. We did not order dessert. To be clear, we did not take out our frustrations on our waiter; in fact we tipped him very well for how he handled his job with such limited resources. We were not the only ones to do this. Wait staff are at the mercy of the kitchen and the bar...and the kitchen and the bar was seriously lacking this evening. We want to give people the benefit of the doubt. Perhaps one or more staff called out and each crew was short-handed. Our observations accepted this as a possibility, but that is not an excuse and not the only reason for such deficiencies this evening. Its clear that some changes must be implemented, Bistro. Please re-examine your compliance with having staff and patrons wear masks. Please re-examine eliminating some capacity spacing patrons a safe distance from each other. Start enforcing mask requirements for patrons as well as staff. And please, please re-examine your staffing needs. It is utterly ridiculous for any patron at any restaurant to have to wait 45 minutes to an hour and half for their orders. It's things like that which can and has sunk businesses. Take heed and do not assume you are safe simply because Tracy residents have rallied to do what they can to support local. Check yourself before you wreck yourself...and then we might come back. read more

First I had a peachy keen martini! Fabulous ! Appetizer of artichoke dip and crustini and let me just say licked the bowl clean ! I had mushroom risotto with shrimp- perfectly cooked ! This is pretty much my go-to "nice" restaurant in Tracy. The atmosphere is casual and unfussy. The service is usually kind and just attentive enough. The food is really top notch. I love the arugula couscous salad. I order it with chicken, which makes for a wonderful meal. The homemade pasta is outstanding and if you are a vegetarian, they will make up a veggie version - I recommend the arugula pesto - really flavorful and innovative. Some of the dishes are a little too rich for me, although tasty - like the gnocchi and the dips, and the grilled sandwich - just too much oil for me, even though delicious. But everything is fresh and handmade with care. It is just a comforting place to relax and eat excellent food, good wine and well-made cocktails. The prices are right in line with the quality of the food. The only minor issue I have ever had was when one young server called me "honey". I was not old enough to be his grandma, and it felt patronizing and a little unintentionally demeaning, so my hope is that someone has spoken to him about that. But that was only one time and the staff is normally awesome and helpful - great place! read more

This place is absolutely terrible. The food took hours to come out and is completely breaking all Covid regulations. They cram multiple tables within 6 feet distance and the servers have no discipline when it comes to keeping their mask on and the chefs themselves do not wear masks. Hands down the BEST restaurant in Tracy. I've been to Bistro 135 a number of times and have yet to taste something that wasn't simply delicious. The shrimp appetizer is simply amazing. The dishes are delicious without being overly complicated. Simple, fresh, tasty ingredients prepared to perfection. I truly enjoy sitting in the dining room and watching the kitchen operate. Watching the owner/head chef, Kevin, expedite and cook, you can see his passion for what he's doing. They are a well oiled machine, and it comes through in every dish they send out. The servers are knowledgeable about the dishes and ingredients. I was told the owner's mother makes all the desserts and the peanut butter pie... holy cow!! It is on the pricey side, but definitely worth every penny. The servers always have a smile and good attitude. The lemonade the bartenders make is phenomenal, and it's just plain ol' lemonade. If you like good food and good atmosphere this is the place to go. Make a reservation though, it does get crowded and wait times can be a bit long. read more

My cousin took me here when I was visiting her in the Central Valley. We were looking for a nice brunch with a side of mimosas, and that's exactly what we got here! The icing on the cake was definitely the Dutch baby pancake for desert. Which we forced ourselves to get even though we're quite stuffed from our breakfast. It definitely did not disappoint! It was so moist with just the right amount of sweetness without being overpowering. I would have probably gone lighter on the berries on top, but that's just a personal preference. Reservation was spot on no waiting for our table, our table was waiting on us! It was not that busy, our service or lack there of Some of the staff was friendly some were not?! Didn't like that, seemed weird. Took a long time to get our drink order. The one garden salad that was ordered was wrong, but so delicious it was eaten. Chicken Parmesan was outstanding, the noodles awful couldn't eat them way to salty. ( Parmesan dinners were comped!! We were not expecting that! )The two different desserts were the bomb! Leave the kids at home and enjoy the "shareable" menu. Unfortunately, the entree menu was limited, and didn't really spark an interest. But, the scallops appetizer is fantastic.
