Hands down the best Italian food restaurant we've been to in a long time. The service was wonderful and the restaurant itself is just a 10.

We took our entire family out for an early Father's Day dinner and decided to finally try Bella Mangiata Italian Restaurant in Manteca after driving by it so many times. We had been wanting to try it for a while and thought there was no better time than a family celebration. I called just two hours before our reservation time to see if they could accommodate our group of 16, and they were able to fit us in without any issues. The food was amazing. Everything tasted fresh and homemade. The handmade pasta was delicious, and you could tell the ingredients were fresh and prepared with care. The focaccia bread, appetizers, and entrees were all excellent. Honestly, our entire table loved their meals and we had no complaints at all. The staff was welcoming, kind, attentive, and provided outstanding customer service throughout the evening. We will definitely be back again. If you've been thinking about trying Bella Mangiata, don't wait any longer. The food is amazing, the service is excellent, and it's the perfect spot for a family dinner, especially if you have a large group like ours. read more

This was my 3rd time here. I have also referred more than a dozen clients here. My first 2 experiences were quite good. Last night was very different. A small issue was I ordered veal and double vegetables. The tiniest piece of veal I have ever seen arrived with the smallest portion of vegetables. They said they would bring the rest, which they did, well after I finished my meal. My main complaint is the service. The owner of the restaurant was there with a large group. We were seated first, ordered before them but they got their food first. It was 43 minutes from the time we ordered until we got our meals. Very disappointed, I will not be back or refer the restaurant any longer. read more

The place is nice. Buuuuuttttt They really need to get their kitchen together. It took them a whole one hour to serve part of the table and an hour and a half to serve the other. Way too much bread and oil to start. I ordered the defrosted microwaved fish, dry w no sauce with a side of Mexican squash, cold broccoli plus soso tomatoes and a side of descent mashed potato's. The table seemed to like the seafood options They don't have a kids menu. Families be aware. They only had one cook for a packed night. Common sense says stop seating people you can't attend. It's not very often, you walk into an Italian restaurant and you get greeted in Italian. The restaurant is very cute with Italian music playing and not Frank Sinatra or Dean Martin actual Italian music. I was shocked the food was delicious. I'm very picky with Italian food because my mom is from Sicily so I know what authentic Italian food tastes like and this is pretty spot on. I started with the Insalata Caprese, my main course was Penne Al Pesto and I finished it off with a Limoncello Mascarpone Cake. I really wanted to like this place, but it fell short in a few ways. We came in for Mother's Day, so we knew it would be busy and things could be hectic, but still excited to try Bella Mangiata. There is limited parking available to the side of the restaurant, but it looks like it's shared with the motel that's next door. There were people there hanging out who may be residents of the motel and occasional people who rode up on their bikes to go through the dumpsters. If you can't find parking there, additional parking is available on the street and in the lot next door. We had a reservation for 6. Upon arrival, we checked in. A walk-in party ahead of us also had 6 people. There was a misunderstanding and our table was given to this party. No problem. Honest mistake. The nice lady at the hostess desk said she would set up a new table for us and this was done immediately, however, the opening for our Moms to get to to their seats was so small that it was difficult for them to fit without disturbing the guests at the table next to us. Our Moms, aged 95 and 80, are tiny 120-pound ladies that felt bad trying to squish into their seats. The front of house staff saw this and were sympathetic. The same lady offered to set up a table in the back of the restaurant by the bar. We were grateful and took her up on the offer. This area of the restaurant was almost completely empty, but it took 4 people 15 minutes to set up the new table. No problem, we were happy to have finally gotten seated, but this time, the host dropped off 1 wine list and 1 dinner menu. There was also a strange light that flashed above our heads every few minutes - I think it was a flickering light bulb needing to be replaced. The restaurant offered a Mother's Day prix fixe menu and there was a good selection of items. We ordered the calamari appetizer (which was delicious), the mahi mahi, the veal marsala, spaghetti and meatballs, lobster ravioli, and the chicken parmesan. All of the entrees were plated nicely, although the portions were quite small for the price. Each of the dishes tasted fresh. The veal was ok, the marsala sauce was really thick and the veal was breaded & not tender. It kind of reminded me of a chicken fried steak. Everyone liked their meals, but didn't love them. Service was slow, it was difficult to get refills on drinks/water. Our busser took our silverware after he cleared the appetizers and plates from our table, so we had to wait for new utensils to be brought over. Our waitress was also the bartender and although she did check on us from time-to-time, she was clearly busy and couldn't be the most attentive. The food runners were friendly. Our check came to $400, including gratuity. Would I come back? I would give it another shot. I do think the restaurant is a bit pricey for the demographic, portion sizes, and so-so service, but if they can elevate the dining experience by providing above and beyond customer service, Bella Mangiata will come out winning. read more

Once again this place did not disappoint. We came here for a last minute date on our anniversary and the ambiance was so perfect. The staff was so professional, made us feel so special and well taken care of. I got the Lobster Ravioli again (sooo good!) and my husband got the Chicken Parm. We started off with Mozarella sticks and OMG they were the BEST! Matched so perfectly with the homemade marinara sauce. I ordered the bruschetta al "pamodoro" and the ravioli di aragosta. The bruschetta was good enough- I'd order it again. I like the crispness from the bread as well. Not the best I've had, but good. The bread served comes with an olive oil with chunks of garlic and spices on the bottom- I was hoping this would pack more of a punch than it did. (It was good, just much more mild than I had anticipated.) It did take quite some time to receive my meal. The main arrived about 40mins after finishing the appetizer and about 55mins after initially ordering. (The same time as a couple that arrived well after me, so I'm sure something was missed along the way.) The ravioli itself was a thick semi-tough bite, but flavorful. I'd consider the dish again. I opted for a second glass of wine and asked what he would recommend with my dish. I must admit, my mind was quite blown when I got my bill and it was a $41 GLASS. That would have been good information to have ahead of time. It was a good glass... but not a $41 glass of Chardonnay. (I'm home now and going through others photos- I have to imagine I was mistakenly charged for a bottle, as they have NO glasses listed at that price- so I'll call tomorrow to check, or later this evening when they may slow down.) The wine list is currently minimal and doesn't seem to really highlight a taste of Italy (outside of the chianti). The water has a weird taste to it- not uncommon- as I've had similar at other restaurants between here and Tracy. Just not my personal preference. Overall, I'd be willing to give it another go once they have some of the kinks worked out down the line. Also to note, it was quite busy for a Monday evening and only one server (which again... for a Monday- busier than I think would be expected.) He was hustling the best he could- back and forth between the tables, the host stand and the kitchen. By the time I left, there were maybe 2-3 empty tables in house. read more

I tried calling the restaurant several times, but the phone kept going straight to voicemail saying they were unable to answer and to leave a message. Since I couldn't reach anyone, I downloaded their app and placed my order through it. My payment went through, I was charged, and I received a confirmation text for my order.When I arrived to pick it up, the server seemed confused and went to the back to ask about it. A kitchen staff member eventually came out and told me, "That's weird, we turned off online ordering." I showed him my confirmed order and payment, and after waiting another five minutes, he came back after speaking with the owner and told me I would receive a refund in 3-4 days.What really confused me was that they said I could still place the exact same order with them in person but I would have to pay AGAIN while waiting several days for my original charge to be refunded.I understand that technical issues happen, but customer service is important . The fact that the owner was aware of the situation and the only solution offered was for me to pay twice was extremely disappointing.I left without my food and with my money still tied up for the next several days. Based on how this situation was handled, I definitely will not be returning or recommending this restaurant to anyone else. read more

Excellent experience here at lunchtime. Decent wine selection and menu. We ordered lobster ravioli and chicken/shrimp entree, both were delicious. He came on a Wednesday night, to an early dinner at 5 PM. The restaurant was empty, but by six Head filled up with several more tables. There was wonderful Italian music playing, giving a wonderful ambience. The server named Teo promptly took our drink orders and was very attentive throughout the whole meal. We were given the specials and actually chose one of them, which was the lamb shank. Braised for several hours over fettuccine. It was tender and flavorful. We also had the veal, very nice with a caper sauce. The carpaccio for an appetizer was perfect. We were celebrating hubby's birthday and they brought a wonderful, dense, rich chocolate cake with a candle and sang to him. We will be back for sure!! read more

My husband is Italian, so we are always excited to see a new Italian restaurant . I gave this restaurant three stars due to several missteps. We had reservations and were seated promptly by the owner who was very friendly and chatty. I ordered the love bug lemon drop and my husband had the old fashioned. Both drinks were tasty. Misstep#1- my drink had three lemon seeds in it. They need to invest in a drink strainer! I asked the owner what the soup of the day was and he said lobster bisque, but that it had corn in it. I decided to try it. My husband had the spinach salad. Misstep #2-I was served a cup of clam chowder to my surprise! I ordered the veal Marsala and my husband had the chicken Parmesan. They both came with a side of vegetables and mashed potatoes. My husband asked to substitute spaghetti and they obliged. Our dinners came out promptly and were tasty. Misstep #3-My husband complained that the chicken was a bit tough. I tried a bite and he was not joking. I'm not sure why the chicken was tough, but maybe just a bad cut, over cooked, or previously frozen? I decided to have the gelato for dessert. It was fine, but not worth $15!!! Definitely over priced for what was two partial scoops. This restaurant did only open 3 months ago, so they are relatively new. Still, the kinks should be worked out by now. I will come back and give this restaurant another chance to improve their rating. read more

Some of my cousins and I were visiting Manteca and someone recommended we give Bella Mangiata a try. I ordered the pollo gamberi, my cousins had the lobster ravioli and a lamb shank with risotto. A friend told me about this place so I had to try it. I had the fettuccine Alfredo with prawns and it was absolutely delicious. Creamy cheesy saucey. Few days ago and I'm still craving more. Husband had the chicken Marsala. It was tender and sauce on point. He devoured the polenta side so I'm assuming it was good. My kid had the sausage and penne dish and as a picky eater he loved it. His only complaint was the food stayed hot throughout the meal so not really a complaint. Limoncello mascarpone cake was the perfect finish. Service was excellent but I like to focus on food. Happy this "new this year" restaurant is here. Impressed with the greeting from the start. A very good menu with a few specials. Cocktails were spot on, prosciutto with cantaloupe, with fresh grated parm. Includes arugula and roasted peppers. Very refreshing start. went here last Sunday for dinner with my wife and adult son. my son and I had old fashions, the glasses were barely half full, not a good sign, my son had a chicken Marsala which he didn't finish! The chicken did not look good at all. My wife had ravioli and soup and I had a seafood pasta, both were OK! service was good, friendly servers! The food leaves something to be desire though unfortunately. we're an Italian family and live a couple blocks away but unfortunately we won't be back. We use to go the owner's restaurants in the SF Bay Area all the time. My family are exited to see that they started a new location in Manteca, CA. We will travel to go eat there. Any time we are driving through the area we already know where we are stopping to eat. They are great people and know how to make good Italian food. I had the Chicken Parmesan with spaghetti. We were staying at Great Wolf Lodge and decided to eat out nearby because my wife recently had a tooth extraction and was craving Italian food. Honestly, we did not expect to have some of the best Italian food we've ever had. My wife has been to Italy, and we've had our fair share of amazing Italian restaurants throughout San Francisco and Walnut Creek, but Bella Mangiata truly impressed us. The pasta was incredible -- fresh, flavorful, comforting, and clearly made with care. Every dish tasted authentic and well-balanced. What made the experience even better was the service. Everyone was warm, attentive, and welcoming from start to finish. You can tell this place takes pride not only in the food, but also in creating a great dining experience. I had sea bass which ended up being very mushy that came out a big chunk with capers but couldn't eat it. I was surprised they didn't have lasagna. My daughter had crab ravioli not good fishy cold undercooked with a very undesirable red sauce. The only good thing was the bread. We got a capprese salad which was two slices of cheese and tomatoes with a very vinegar balsamic. It was very cold in there and music too loud. Very pricey for not being fresh raviolis and did not ask about putting on cheese and nothing served with them.They tasted like the ones you get from Costco. They charge 5.00 for a soda! While the food is excellent, so much about dining out is impacted by the service, ambience, and general attitude of the staff. Bella Mangiata hit it out of the park on all counts. Our party of four shared arancini and meatball appetizers and ordered the gnocchi, beef lasagna (special), beef ravioli in a sage butter sauce, and chicken marsala. Everything was a hit. We sampled the tiramisu and cannoli for dessert, and this was unquestionably the best tiramisu I've ever had. Highly recommended. This place just opened and we had to come check it out! We came to have dinner after watching a musical at our church. We didn't make (didn't know to or should) reservations and it was a busy Saturday night. The staff was hospitable and was able to accommodate us. The food was delicious! We had bruschetta and caprese appetizers and tortellini and meatballs for our entrees. So good! For dessert we had the chocolate tort and spumoni ice cream! Nice ending to our meal!
