Enjoying cocktails on tables/chairs out front.

Great service. Awesome food. And atmosphere suitable for casual or semi dressy. We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner.

My absolute favorite restaurant. A small but wonderful list of entrees. Then add on the great sides and a well made cocktails. It can't get any better! Every time I visit the food is cooked perfect. The staff, they're amazing! They couldn't be more friendly and accommodating. If you visit sit in the seat my wife and I enjoy the most, the one in the windowed corner with all the pillows, and people watch while you eat!

Quiet little place right in the middle of downtown Murphy with a bar on one side and tables on the other. Service was quick, friendly, helpful and went above and beyond when she asked if she could get her Bread Pudding wrapped to take home, they deconstructed it, gave her all the ingredients individually wrapped and gave her instruction on how to put it together and cook at home. The food was absolutely delicious! I had the lobster tail, she had the Crispy Brussels and Pistachio Berry salad. The lobster tail was perfect and I don't know what that crab mixture they put on top of it is, but I could eat a plate of that by itself. She said the brussels were the best she's ever eaten and she devoured the salad as well. HIGHLY recommend Bistro 29!! It is NOT cheap, so be prepared for that, but worth every dime.

This place is absolute crap, we will NEVER be back here. This is what was said to me when I simply requested an updated menu. The new management has no clue...too bad, this place used to be good.

Delectable if not annoyingly an odd number of chef's special eggs - these beauties were pimento cheese n bacon

Foodie alert! Classy? ...not quite. Shabby chic? this is! ...HOWEVER what they may lack in ambience and decor in the restaurant section, they more than make up for in food and great wine and really, isn't that the point? For the second time in as many yelps in this tiny mountain town of Murphy NC. this may be one of the best meals we have ever had. Holy Moly if this town highlighted the great restaurants to 'Foodies' they certainly wouldn't have to count on the casino (why we came). We started with the Chef's special 'stuffed' eggs as they were 50% off on Yelp - thank you Yelp! for providing a platform that encourages us to add another layer to our already burgeoning menu desires. Today's offerings were splendiferorous. Pimento cheese n' bacon. Not too much that they overpowered the egg, rather just enhanced it. I firmly commit to going home and trying to duplicate these tasty little critters. Also, just as an aside, even though it may be considered artsy to plate 3 half eggs, we know there is another half floating around back there, so when there are an even number of guests, why short us? Thankfully it was just us so we split the 3rd half. However, should there have been others it would have been the same as double dipping and the last half would have been left, nobody wanting it & awkward moments created. Please plate the other half! Then the Blue Ridge Olive Oil co. Chose Bistro 29 to hawk their wares and very cleverly so. Although the bread rolls were not good (cold and hard), the divine combination of lemon zest and garlic oil paired with lavender balsamic was genius. We will be going to Blue Ridge OO co. tomorrow to pick up some, not only for us, but folks we will be visiting next month. Yep, THAT good. I then had the Diver Scallops and hubby had the Duroc Pork Chop. I'm not a grits kinda gal so Bistro 29 graciously allowed me to substitute mashed taters. Oh my giddy aunt! What a meal! I can't believe I am about to say that such scallops can be found in such a tiny mountain town but they were and are! You cannot go wrong ordering these. Crisp with a lovely grilled flavor on the exterior and moist meaty heavenly orbs on the interior. Now top with capers for heaven's sake and sit them on a bed of mild greens with celery? Oooh, 'nuff said! :) Hubby said he believed his pork chop had to compare because he too was beyond satisfied. Not a man of many words this is a HUGE thumbs up! This is long so I must wind it up with the wine ;). For $8 I cannot remember having any wine as good as their Malbec. Seriously, not since we spent a week in Mendoza going to all the wineries. Stupendous! Now imagine The Great Satchmo, Frank Sinatra and possibly Rosemary Clooney in the background and you have pretty good idea of a close to perfect evening. Plan to spend the evening and savor every bite and moment. A complete home run!

Wow! What an awesome place with a great feel and even better food. Our family ordered wings, sushi, salad, potato wedges and the amazing halibut. It was all incredible. My sons loved the surprise snacks from the sushi chef. Our server, Anna, was equally amazing. We will be back !

Just purchased a vacation home in the Murphy area. Have visited twice and both times went to Bistro 29. It will be a regular event when we come. The atmosphere is relaxing, the food is fantastic and the staff are very friendly & welcoming. Had an opportunity to meet the owners who are just as amazing!!!

So me and a buddy (2 Asian dudes) had been on the road for roughly 4 hours on route to deliver auto parts when we decided to make a grub stop in random Murphy TN, at a random "Bistro". Upon entering this establishment, we noticed that most of the patrons there are well dressed while we were far from that (hey, we were working haha). Felt like walking in a Range Rover dealership in shorts and flip flops. We didn't care though cause we were there to eat, and we are foodies despite our then current appearances. Got a table within 2 minutes, on a Saturday evening (KINDLY, not the huff and puff as if they were doing us a favor type place). Ordered more than half their appetizers and a couple entrees. While waiting for the food, I couldn't help but look around and appreciate the small details in this place. They have a bar area that was semi-hoppin' with folks who I assume to be regulars as they stood around socializing. Cool, laid back place indeed. Food came and it was time to pig out. The overall meal, I feel as though the appetizers/starters really stole the show. They were ALL amazing! They have their own twist to traditional items such as pork dumplings and a duck egg roll that reminded me of Jamaican beef pockets. Perfect crisp and flavors. Sushi/sashimi very fresh and done right. Entrees were lacking in flavor but that isn't necessarily a bad thing because most of us have gotten used to overly seasoned foods. I DO believe a dish well properly prepared should lean more towards bland than overly flavorful, so that they got right and people like me can appreciate that. Unfortunately this place is way out of the way for me so not sure if we'll meet again, but if we do, I'll probably just order every appetizer they have and with a beer or two would make for a divinely perfect meal. What really had be throwing the fifth star to them was their service. Classy, attentive, inviting and gave off a truly humble vibe to them. Thanks Bistro 29 for doing what you do, where you're at! Small towns should have more places like these because it really isn't just all about the food, but the feel and atmosphere as well. Oh and they also had a young lady playing the keyboard/piano that night singing, and she was awesome!!! What an amazing voice!!! 2 thumbs up from me because yes I have eaten at many crazy amazing places, but not all can leave a lasting impression as this place right here. Thank you.

But everything was very salty. I mean....very very salty killing the natural flavors of ingredients. I ordered a grilled fish but it came cold. I paid $36 for it.....very disappointed. However, my daughter's and husband's dishes were hot. We tried to get attention from our waitress but it was so hard. We called her several times but she kept walking away. The dessert was so pretty! Since we were full, we shared one dessert. I wish I could eat more different desserts... It was a little pricey for us. But for a special occasion, it's a good idea to visit this restaurant. But please mention not to use too much salt in meals.

We go here for birthdays, anniversaries, and we have been to a couple of wine dinners. I would like to stay this is five stars because sometimes you get the best thing you have ever eaten. Like the cheddar cornbread in the photos. It was so good. Also there was the time they had the pork chop. OMG. But my review is an average of several meals. Looking through photos here, last time I had a steak that was really good on one end on ok on the other. It's not exactly a crudités but the appetizer we had was good and honestly too big. The pickled vegetables were too sour for me to eat all that. The menu is different every day and you do not know in advance what it will be so good luck! There will usually be a couple things on the menu to satisfy most everyone. The restaurant itself is in what appears to be a remodeled old house. It is cozy but not tight or cramped. If you want to try the wine dinner see if you can get on the mailing list. It is wines paired with multiple courses. I have always enjoyed the food but again it is huge. I was so bloated after the last one because yes I could have stopped eating but the food was too good to not eat it.

We were celebrating my wife's birthday and it was our first time dining there. The restaurant is tucked into a nice wooded area near the foothills of the Smoky Mountains. There is outdoor seating available, a firepit area with make your own smores, and indoor seating which is where we dined. We were greeted as soon as we entered and waited at the bar where Ian served us (he was great) until our reservation time (doubt we could have got in without the reservation). The bar had a huge selection of bourbon including many allocated bottles. My wife had a spicy margarita which she loved. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Our server, David, brought us some of their famous cornbread it reminded me of couple of pieces of cake except it was cornbread with a delicious sorghum syrup and whipped butter. It was unique and delicious. We started with trio of dips - sharp cheddar pimento cheese, butter bean hummus, and my favorite smoked salmon rillette. These were served with sea salt crackers and pickled vegetables. It was all tasty and the smoke salmon had so much flavor. I had delicious thick cut pork chop topped with peach and jalapeno jam. It was cooked perfectly, tender and juicy and the topping added a fantastic spicy tang. The sides were charred baby carrots, green beans, a spoonbread with red-eye gravy and red pepper emulsion. My wife had a filet with bearnaise sauce and Yukon potatoes with cauliflower, sweet peppers, mushrooms and braised onions. It was cooked exactly as ordered with such a great taste and so tender. David brought my with a complementary piece of pie made with Cruze Farm buttermilk topped with berries and a lemon drizzle. It was a fantastic experience and we were so happy with everything. Everything was pricey for the area, but well worth it for what we received.

You're tucked away in the forest with the most peaceful ambiance in the evening! The waiter introduced the menu to us and mentioned that the ingredients were all mostly locally sourced and or grown in their garden when you first turn onto the driveway. So great to know exactly where your food is coming from! For the starter, I shared the crab corn chowder - and the waiter was kind enough to split the soup into two bowls with my partner. This was a perfect starter! Creamy, a little smokey, and not too heavy like your typical chowder. Lacking in the crab department, but it's as you would suspect with anything advertising 'containing crab' at a restaurant. We were also given complimentary corn bread and it was delicious. Such a nice surprise and I definitely preferred having the cornbread over regular bread! The service was a little slow, especially to bring the appetizer and bread out, but I wasn't too bothered since it didn't seem like we were rushed to finish our meal. I ordered the filet mignon (med rare) as my main. The flavors were spot on! My filet was a bit tougher than other filets I've had in the past... it was difficult to cut into. I also wished there was more of the red wine sauce to balance the richness of all the accompanying flavors and textures. All in all, this spot was a special treat tucked away in Townsend and I'm glad I didn't have to drive too far for a well-crafted menu and food scene!
