"If you're going to have cabin fever, have a big cabin, you know." --Joe Cocker When it comes to "roughing it," I don't. Not that I haven't, not that I can't--it's just that I prefer my cabin to come with a great restaurant and bar. The Flying Trout Restaurant fits the bill as the food-and-fun hub of the Copperhead Lodge. I expected we'd find ourselves at the bar during our stay; what I didn't expect was one of the best gnocchi dishes I've ever had in my life! The restaurant is large and spacious with a kitschy, rustic feel. The bar sits at the far end of the room and opens onto a big outdoor deck wrapped around the lodge. The outside gets a lot more points than the inside--but then again, nature is always the better designer. I was blown away by the Sweet Potato Gnocchi: an incredible vegetarian dish featuring sweet potato gnocchi, tomatoes, spinach, Vidalia onions, and oyster mushrooms in a brown-butter sauce. Seriously, a great dish. Prices are reasonable for both food and drinks; the restaurant isn't taking advantage of having a captive audience from the lodge. Service at the bar was consistently great. Will definitely return when back in the area!

Haven't been here for couple of years. They are under new ownership & new management. Things have improved We had reservations, not required but recommend. We were seated promptly, took a few minutes for our server to show up, but once she did she was excellent ask for Susie. Everything we asked of her was answered or brought to us. My hubby & I both had bacon cheeseburgers. They were both cooked as requested which is rare. They have live music on Friday & Saturday nights. I think they're trying very hard to be the restaurant I remember from years back. Will go back again. The lodge is very pretty & outdoor deck is huge.

This place is such an experience and I cannot say enough good things about it. The atmosphere is fun as the walls are decked with fishing gear and memorabilia. The location is great with the place being tucked into the mountains of north Georgia. All the way staff define southern hospitality and the Friday fish fry is one of the best I have ever had! We were staying in a cabin nearby on a Friday and it was such a lovely place with live music, good food, and delicious drinks. Make sure to go if you're in the area!

I thought the artwork on the glass was cool so I bought 1 for a souvenir.

We had an awesome lunch experience at The Flying Trout on Smash-burger Thursday. We dined on their creek side back deck while enjoying the wonderful scenery and the sights & sounds of outdoor mountain living. I had the Copperhead Smash-burger and my wife had the Our Back Porch burger, both of which were cooked to perfection and tasted fan-freakin-tastic. Our daughter had the Nature's Harvest Bowl salad that was both visually appealing and she said was fresh and very flavorful. Our server was Jill and she was INCREDIBLE in every regard. Jill was super friendly, polite, attentive, and on task. Our overall experience is what you should expect and the crew at The Flying trout delivered!

Just had the bone-in pork chop and it was awesome. The place is busy and has live entertainment tonight. It was really great!

The menu is very good and the atmosphere very fun! They do need to bring back the baseball steak and sage chicken though.

When the special of the night is "Alfredo... with chicken, pork, or steak, take your pick!" and it's also already on the menu... this is a red flag. I quickly started scanning the menu for something that might not give me food poisoning. When the food is stored in outside freezers and there's a horde of live cats running around everywhere... it's a red flag. I love good bar food, but this was not good. My wife's Philly Cheesesteak tasted like propane gas. My chili dog was on par with something you might get at a junior high football game. Even my kids rejected their chicken tenders, which is saying something. Just 100% industrial, frozen, crap. The $13 margarita was even bad. It tasted like bad sour mix and may have had a drop or two of tequila in it. Giving one star for the server, who tried her best. And the location on the river was very nice. Service was slow too though. This was the worst $85 "dinner" I've had in a very, very long time. For the love of god, reduce the size of your menu and do a few things really well. No one wants a bunch of frozen entrees at a bar.

A very charming unassuming little boutique store front with some tee shirts and souvenirs when you first walk in. Then you whisper the magic password and the gentleman escorts you through a narrow little doorway, a vestibule and door then opens to a perfectly recreated 1920's prohibition speakeasy. The motif is perfect from vintage art work on the wall to the hanging chandeliers and the big leather couches and chairs all in a very dark lighting. There is one way glass so you can see whoever comes into the store ( police or significant other) but they can't see you! Lol. And you can't leave through the front where you came in. You are guided to the back of the establishment to the back door which lets out into a narrow gangway then to the alley. I think Al Capone himself was going to jump out at me. lol. The bartenders/ mixologists further raise your experience by providing enjoyable banter and well made cocktails. Espresso Martini's and a Donut Raspberry Cheesecake were the drinks and dessert of choice and both were amazing. If you wind up going I suggest for you gals, a flapper dress with the beads and sequins with a cocoon coat and some tee strap heels. Guys your fanciest fedora and some two tone lace up oxfords. Either way you're gonna have a Roaring 20's great time. Let me know if you're interested and I'll tell the password or yiu you have dinner upstairs at The Roof, tell them you want the password for The Door.

It was a Tuesday night, which turned out to be wing night with wings that were a reasonable price. I also went for the fish and chips, which were fair. The wings were quite tasty, and they have a decent variety of sauce flavors to choose from which is a good thing. I also went for the street corn, which was excellent. We were sitting out on the porch, and the weather was good. Noise was kept to a minimum so we were able to talk without having to shout, which I consider to always be a good thing. The food was good, our wait staff were decent, and we were very happy with our experience. If we are in the area again, we would certainly return.
