Rigatoni with shrimp, fresh tomatoes & capers.

We stayed at the Hotel Abrego and only realized they had a small restaurant after we had checked in. The menu looked really inviting so we decided to eat dinner at the bistro. We had 3 items: tacos, pasta with shrimp and their seasonal salad. Everything was freshly made and absolutely delicious. We asked the customer next to us if he had ever eaten there before & he said, "every night!" He apparently worked week days in Monterey & that's the place he liked to frequent. The dining was a pleasant surprise. The prices were less than what we would typically pay for lunch. Even if we weren't staying at the hotel, we would still choose the restaurant. The first time in my life actually loving hotel food! I think the reason it's not packed is that there's little on line about this place.

I was shocked! We saw this place on yelp and walked in. It is inside a hotel but the food is soooo good!! Chicken skewers and ribs were so tender and tasty. The bruschetta was amazing. Ernie our server was so welcoming and the food is delicious. It's like having dinner at a friends house. You have to try this place!!!

    Chef's Special : Bread Pudding a la Mode w/ caramel sauce...sooooooo good

Long drive from San Diego so we didn't feel like going out for dinner...so glad we didn't. Decided to eat at the Bistro and we were not disappointed. I ordered the Shrimp Scampi and he ordered the Bacon and Brussel Sprout Flat Bread. Not what we were expecting- i thought it was a pasta dish but it came witj toasted sour dough bread and the sauce was so delicious that I could have drank it right out if the plate. The flat bread came in a different presentation but absolutely delicious! Then came the dessert...the bread pudding...what a wonderful way to end the meal! Didn't take pics of the food because we were hungry and we went to town as soon as it was served. Hat's off to the chef in that magic kitchen and Karen the Server/Barista/Awesome lady was great even with a full house.

We just has a pretty yummy dinner included with a deal for the hotel. It's a smaller restaurant but cozy so you can chat with loved ones. The service was good and he checked on us just the right amount of times. Even the Manager stopped by just to make sure we were happy. The appetizer we chose was the shrimp quesadilla. Super delish and the salsa paired perfectly to balance the roasted red peppers and caramelized onions. I got the garlic chicken pizza. Thin crust and a great amount of cheese made it super yummy. Try the Monterey Wheat beer they have on the menu.

The staff were easy to work with in setting up the event and more than accommodating with the several dietary restrictions that we brought up given the size of the party that would be stopping by (roughly 80 or so). They had a wide variety of pastries, meats, and other desserts that's were all absolutely spectacular. And bother internal and external of the venue are absolutely beautiful. We had a nice sunny morning so most of our party were sitting outside in the wonderful patio space and everyone was raving about how good the food was.

Our server was very nice and attentive, but there was some unevenness in the courses due to a disconnect between what he described and what the kitchen actually delivered. For example, I mentioned that my partner has an aversion to cilantro, and in one course the kitchen actually replaced it entirely with chives, which was amazing. However, when our server came by, he mentioned they had put the cilantro on the side. In another dish, a full cilantro stalk came right on top of the plate. Not a huge deal since we could just pick it off, but it was a sign of inconsistency in service. We also ordered the cod dish, and when we mentioned we were avoiding undercooked proteins, our server said he would make sure it was cooked through, which confused me a bit since I believe cod is always fully cooked through. On to the food itself, we started with the plum lacquered duck kefta, which came out on two cinnamon sticks used as the skewers. These were absolutely fantastic, with the yogurt sauce acting as the perfect foil for the expertly seasoned duck and the cinnamon stick adding a subtle spice. The Moss Landing black cod was likewise delicious, with the cod cooked to a buttery and flaky texture, and it was paired with a sumptuous vanilla bean butter sauce over a bed of pepper and green bean panzanella that was out of this world. My only complaint was that for the steep price, the portion was quite small. The curried lamb shoulder was exceptional as well. It arrived with a striking presentation, encased in a three-quarter dome puff pastry shell filled with shredded lamb shoulder meat. It came with a side of some kind of fruit compote or chutney, though we were not given a detailed description of most dishes. This portion felt appropriate for the price and was the favorite of the night. We mentioned we were celebrating our wedding anniversary, and while we were not expecting anything over the top, we were a bit disappointed when we saw them bring out a dessert with a candle for what I assume was a birthday celebration at another table. For a restaurant of this caliber and at this price point, I have always experienced at least some sort of gesture, even if just a small card or message at the table. Overall, we had a pleasant evening, but it is not somewhere we would return to based on the uneven service and the mismatch between price and portions.

I wanted something to drink that wasn't sweet, so I tried their raspberry ice tea. They used a sugary syrup to flavor the tea, and that was a strike out. It was sweeter than a soda, so it went back and I swapped it out for a plain unsweetened ice tea. Then we tried the cheesy garlic bread, which we were really looking forward to. Welp, it came out with mozzarella cheese and a ton of corn. No butter. No garlic. We all looked at each other when we tried it. Ok, let's try their brussel sprouts. Those are hard to mess up - but sure enough, they managed to. They deep fried them to the point they were black and charred. There wasn't anything left of the brussel sprout itself, it was mostly crunchy charcoal. At this point, we all ordered something we assumed would be safe for our main. I got the sliders and a side salad. I had the salad but only of the sliders. The cheese on it was queso, like you use to dip chips, so it was ran all over the place and the burger was a grease ball. I won't even get into what everyone else had, but they had similar experiences. Overall, it was pretty disappointing. Maybe there are other things or other times where this place is better, but it was a swing and a miss for us.

Located in Pacific Grove, this restaurant is well known for its sustainable seafood and fresh ingredients. Street parking is available but you may need to drive around to get a spot close to the restaurant. We made a reservation online, and we were notified our table was ready 15 mins prior to our reservation time. When we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the hostess. The restaurant was mid sized, but it felt warm and cozy. The menu was quite simple, but the selections were solid. We had the salmon cervice as appetizer, salad, scallop entree, and halibut entree. The cervice was delicious and we loved the innovative concept. The salad was great with perfect balance of veggie, dressing, and cheese. The scallop entree was very flavorful as well. For desserts, we gad the banana pudding with ice-cream, and it was the perfect way to wrap up our dinner. As for service, our waiters were attentive and friendly. The bill for our meal was around $200, which was very reasonable for the quality of the meal. Highly recommend!
