I did mention it politely to the manager who came over to see how we liked everything, let him know they were overcooked but we didn't want to send them back and wait for new ones, the flavor was good we would just eat these. someone else in the reaturant also returned their steak right before us so we didn't want them to have to refire a 2nd and 3rd steak, that poor chef looked like he was having an awful night and it had just started. He went above and beyond and even came back out later to make sure everything was perfect for us. That kind of personal attention really stood out. The gnocchi was AMAZING. The texture was perfect, and the sauce was so flavorful -- definitely one of the highlights of our meal. They also have a fantastic wine selection. Their sommelier came over to help us choose and pair our wines, taking the time to share his knowledge and recommendations with us. It made the experience even more special. We also shared a generous Caesar salad and a caprese appetizer that were both easily enough for two. The service was excellent from start to finish. And to make my birthday even more special, I was surprised with a large complimentary slice of tiramisu! At the end of our meal, the other owner came over to chat with us, adding another personal touch to an already wonderful evening. If someone was talking on the other end the sound traveled up the curve and it's like that person is speaking loudly next to you. The sound booms down. I had the gem lettuce salad next and I liked the addition of strawberries. However, the salad was so drenched in miso vinaigrette that was all you could taste. Overdressed like wearing a tuxedo to a hoedown. I then had "Mary's" version of cordon bleu rolled with chicken and ham on a bed of polenta with spinach and oyster mushrooms with a Dijon jus. It sounded wonderful on the menu, but it was a letdown, oddly flavorless. As I was eating it a local regular next to me said I should have ordered something else - it was not his favorite. My friend got the chicken schnitzel, which came with fries -- I usually don't have schnitzel, again, because I find it a bit too heavy -- but my friend said it was lighter than one would think, as were the fries. No room for dessert -- but we definitely want to return to check out other dishes. Also, our server could not have been lovelier! In the main room you walk through when you enter is artwork you should definitely check out -- it was done by the father of the chef back in the 1970s. Really interesting, striking work!

Started off with Amuse-Bouche, which was a Rock Fish sashimi - very very good. Second course was a Cappelletti - with trumpet mushrooms and Summer Squash with Risotto - very good. Finally one of the best desserts I have ever had a Berry Granita - with Crème Fraiche, just a wonderful combo with berries and sorbet. I definitely will be coming back here as a regular visit. Next the summer squash and trumpet mushroom cappelletti-a wonderful al dente ravioli with a delicious filling and sea lettuce beurre blanc (5/5). Served with a warm house bread roll and focaccia (4/5) with house butter (5/5). The halibut mosaic with mustard spinach in a bay laurel gel was delightful- clean fresh, tasty (5/5). The mains were a bit disappointing with no vegetables. The ribeye was well done, medium rare with a madeira sauce (3/5) but not memorable. The lamb was very overcooked- a reconstructed lamb combo just didn't get my vote. The accompanying beans and lamb jus tasted very good (overall 2/5). The final berry granita was a delicious end to the meal, made with house creme fraiche, macerated berries, mint oil and a macerated lemon zest (5/5). This restaurant is worth another visit with a different menu. Really wish they would consider adding some vegetables and maybe some interesting textures to their menu offerings.

The girls that helped us out were both friendly but we ended up asking for the Happy Hour menu 3 times before we actually got one. We decided to split the Happy Hour Pepperoni pizza bites and Bucatini Amatriciana. The pizza was a good portion, especially for the $8 price tag but the portion size on the pasta was a little small. The pizza and past were both very good but the pork on the pasta was mostly just big chunks of fat. I thought they were pieces of artichoke hearts at first. The best thing about our experience was Jesus. I believe he is the bar manager here. He happened to be standing off to the side of the bar when he heard me ask the bartender a question about the Carajillo Old Fashioned. I like coffee drinks, even though I don't drink coffee, but I find the Carajillo a bit one note. He explained about the layer of flavors in the drink and it convinced me to give it a try. It was indeed good. Then I noticed a bottle of Suze amaro at the end of the bar and I mentioned how I had heard about this Amaro and always wanted to try it. I asked Jesus to come up with a drink using Suze and he ended up making a kind of Suze French 75 that was very interesting. Overall great experience but Jesus was what made it really special.

We are there as a walk-in on a Saturday night. There were many tables available inside and a coupe…read moreoutside. The hostess said we could pick our table and she would follow us with menus, which she did. Water and glasses were delivered, I think by the hostess immediately. Then we waited.... For at least 10 minutes. Then another two people were seated next to us. They were given water and menus and we all waited for a server to come by to ask for our drink order at least and maybe appetizers. After another 10 minutes I got up to ask the nearest employee if there was a waiter assigned to our table. That person happened to be one of the bartenders who was standing near the host table. He said he would take our order. He did not seem happy he would need to do that as it was not his area, but he did. The waiter is the only reason this review gets two stars instead of one star. I would give zero if I could, but the waiter did his best and ended up taking over that whole inside section of the restaurant. By the end of the meal he mentioned a worker had called in sick, which I think must be why nobody had our section? I have to say that the entire meal we watched a few other employees just standing around doing nothing, maybe shuffling silverware around or wiping counters down. Half the time they were just talking between themselves as we look around trying to make eye contact to get a workers attention that we need something. This was especially obvious to us during the twenty minutes we waited for somebody to come take our drink order. These employees were no more than 15 feet from us. So after the waiter took our drink order, he took the drink order for the two people who were seated next to us that had arrived 10 minutes after us. They received their drinks first. Ours' came shortly after. They were just fair. I usually order two drinks, but my margarita was just not even good enough for me to finish so I only ordered one. We ordered a Caesar salad which was fine. And a lasagna. My wife and I were sharing. The lasagna was luke warm with a cold spot in the middle. So it clearly wasn't freshly baked, rather it had been heated up in a microwave, just not enough. It tasted fine, but was nothing to write home about. The restaurant seems very poorly managed with mostly untrained staff. The restaurant won't last long if this is normal. We won't be back. My suggestion would be hire a new manger, completely revamp and retrain all staff with a focus on consistent customer service and food quality. General rules of thumb for great restaurants- 1. Waiter stops by to greet the customer and take a drink order about a minute after being seated and drinks come out within 5 minutes. This was not done. 2. Waiter stops by every 5-7 minimum to check if you need anything like drinks or more food. 3. At Italian restaurant, as food is served ask the customer if they would like fresh ground pepper, grated Parmesan or Romano cheese, or maybe red pepper flakes. 4. After food is placed, the waiter checks in after 2 minutes to ask how everything tastes. If there are complaints the waiter should be eager to address them. After the shift, whatever the problem is should be addressed with the kitchen staff and manager and a plan for how to improve so that this doesn't happen again should be put in place. Do these things and a restaurant is well on its way to being full and profitable.
