My wife Michele and I eat at WSK at least once a week. One our favorite things to get is 1 order of Cajun Shrimp which has 3 large shrimp in a delicious but fairly spicy oil, butter and garlic sauce. We also get one order of Shrimp Scampi with pasta AND an extra plate. We mix both plates together at the table and have two meals that is delicious and more than enough for two. And if it's not, there is always a choice of deserts made off site by Daphne! read more

Horrible service. Hostess was unable to handle seating for customers and after waiting 25 minutes after our reservation we asked to be seated, as people with later reservations were being seated. She was clearly rattled. I asked if she would rather us leave as she didn't seem to be able to seat us and she said we were welcome to leave. They just lost a customer. As time went on service at this restaurant had deteriorated and wood was overpriced. read more

I make a yearly pilgrimage to Wiscasset, ME for my personal Lobsterfest and always include at least one visit to Water Street, which had always been a 5-star+ experience. Unfortunately, not this time. I started with Westpoint oysters which were superb, maybe my best raw oysters ever. I usually then order the sprouts but decided to go back to a previous favorite of mine from my dinners there in '22 and '23, the mussels, which had been served then with some epic sourdough toast which made them a 5-star because you could sop up the delicious broth and still have a delightful crunch. Unfortunately they now only are served with some sourdough bread discs, which just get saturated and soggy. Not at all the same experience. Most of that wonderful broth was wasted. Then, the lobster risotto, which had always been scrumptious. Unfortunately, the chefs got heavy-handed with the cheese in the risotto so that the taste of the sweet lobster chunks was overpowered rather than complimented as it was in every previous year. I spoke with Shane, their very personable and capable manager about the mussels(or clams) and lack of toast so hopefully that will change by next year when I return. It's still a great restaurant with a wonderful view of the Sheepscot River, a destination experience. read more

**November 2025: Friday Early Afternoon Visit** My friend and I were wandering Wiscasset and were in need of a restroom. We couldn't find one and decided to dine in to use their facilities. I think we were among the first diners and realized that the restaurant was really nice and had such a wonderful view of the water. Our server was incredibly kind and hospitality. She informed us that the soup of the day was clam chowda to which both of us wanted right away. The chowda was flavorful and had a good amount of clams (many other restaurants choose to load it with potatoes, but not this one!). The soup does lean more brothy versus gravy-like which is a personal preference but taste wise it was still soothing. The menu had a lot of really great seafood options so I decided to try their Maine mussels. Our waitress said that the broth was really wonderful and would pair nicely with garlic bread which I also ordered. The entrees came out pretty quickly and the serving size of my mussels was double what I thought it would be. The mussels looked massive and the meat was as fresh mussels should taste. It was an excellent dish. The garlic bread would be a great vessel to soak up the mussel broth, but I felt that the bread was a little thin and slightly over-toasted to really soak up the broth. Nevertheless, I really enjoyed the overall experience and it does feel like a local spot. read more

This is a gorgeous waterfront restaurant. All the dishes we tried from were great, but my favorite has to be the mussels arrabiata. The sauce provided the perfect amount of heat- bold and flavorful, but not overwhelmingly spicy. The service was excellent as well! read more

My sister had made reservations in advanced but there were a few tables that I saw when briefly walking in so they may not be entirely necessary. Especially as it was a Friday night. For appetizers we shared creole shrimp which had a great Cajun seasoning. The garlic bread was ideal to soak up the flavorful sauce as well as for the sautéed mussels. We shared their buttery and heavenly garlicky Roasted Maine lobster. My sister enjoyed her crispy salmon which she ordered well done, too overdone for what I prefer. I loved the gravy and mashed served with the chicken Madeira! My half portion of bolognese also had hefty portions of lamb shank which was to die for. The broccolini was seasoned and cooking to my slightly crisp likings. I enjoyed my Evening prayer drink too which was beautifully crafted. Overall, I had a great experience. The view, the food, and the service was fantastic. Although a little pricey, I think it is well worth every dollar. Just had dinner here. Took friends from California. The haddock was so over cooked that we couldn't cut it with a knife. My guest were polite and tried to eat. I told the waitress that the fish was so overcooked that I couldn't eat it. She said she was so sorry. All 3 haddock were like dry shoe leather. Another guest had mussels and it didn't come with bread. As we were leaving, every one eating at the bar was served bread and butter. So disappointed and embarrassed. I live in the village and Water Street was my recommendation. Never again. read more

I wanted the roasted Maine lobster, but they only do it at dinner. I made myself a veggie plate by ordering three veggie appetizers. The charred Brussel sprouts were fantastic. Maybe the best Brussel sprouts I have ever had. Don't even think about not ordering these. The whole roasted cauliflower was very good. The grilled street corn was fantastic. I can't wait go back to get the lobster and the Brussel sprouts, of course. The atmosphere is pleasant, and our server (Kambria) was excellent. read more

The bar is fancy and the vaulted ceilings are stunning. I had the following items: House bread and butter Broccolini Roasted brussels sprouts Shrimp scampi Clams and linguine in white sauce The bread and butter was addicting. Soft, warm, fresh. The broccolini and brussels sprouts were both "charred" a little bit too much for my liking. I think they should go less heavy on the burn and add some seasoning instead. The clams and linguine in white sauce were perfection. The shrimp scampi was good, but VERY heavy on the lemon! I've never had such a lemony scampi. I am used to it just being butter and garlic, so I was a little bit let down when I got my dish. Alas, it was OK, and the shrimp was cooked well. Wow. Amazing food and nice view. Hot, fresh crispy salmon skin on a bed of lobster smoked bacon and pea hash. This dish was everything I wanted it to be and more. I try to order dishes I can't get "just anywhere" and this one caught my eye. My wife had the shrimp scampi. Both dishes were yummy. Nice ambience with a dark nautical decor and decent lighting. It's a hip, trendy place and on the intimate/cozy side. I definitely recommend making reservations as we slipped in at 5m on a Wednesday and it was filling up with only 2 seats at the bar. I worked at this restaurant when it was Le Garage back in the 80s. The view has always been spectacular. Can't beat the ambiance. Relaxed feel. Personable staff. It was a rainy afternoon, just prior to any dinner rush and the restaurant was already full. We were seated at the bar, where you can order from the full menu, quickly. Bartender was very nice. An older couple comes in 25 min after us, the staff LOVED them, something about bringing in shots to the staff. They order their food, mind you- we don't have our apps yet ( one cold plate, one hot) 10 MIN LATER- those folks get their food ( no apps for us yet) 15 min later - no food - bar tender goes back and brings cold plate - no hot app- 15 min later hot app- NO DINNER 20 min later dinner, we watched 2 sets of groups come and go.... Our visit to Water Street Kitchen had a rocky start, but fortunately the outstanding food brought it to a great end. We arrived mid-afternoon (admittedly without a reservation) and wanted to have our late lunch at an outdoor table. When the host told us none were available, we said we'd wait - which obviously wasn't the answer he wanted. We did wait outside and got a table after it cleared - he came out to clean it very grumpily and didn't even say a word when we said thank you. Some people just are not comfortable eating indoors during a pandemic. We stayed around and still gave them our business because their menu looked so great, but needless to say it was a very bad first impression. Fortunately, the excellent food turned things around. While service was a little slow, our server was friendly and gave us outstanding recommendations. We had the haddock cakes, kale & pistachio salad, and broiled haddock between the two of us. All dishes were excellent. The kale & pistachio salad was one of the best salads I've ever had - perfectly dressed with a bright vinaigrette and pops of flavor from the nuts and shaved fennel. The haddock cakes were great, but the broiled haddock unexpectedly stole the show. The haddock had a delicious crust over the top and was cooked beautifully, accompanied by broccolini and an addictive mash. It was NOT the boring, bland broiled fish you might be used to getting in a mediocre restaurant because you want to eat healthy. It was truly brilliant. If you can get past any less-than-warm welcomes (which hopefully was a fluke the day we came), Water Street is 100% worth a visit. read more

Water Street Kitchen and Bar is a great restaurant and bar. Good location. Adequate parking. Good view of the cove and ample seating. Excellent service, good menu of well-prepared food and great bar. We were visiting for a week and went twice. The second time I mistakenly made a reservation for The Water's Edge, a different restaurant not too far away, but Water Street found a place for us. Highly recommended. Wish they would do a simply boiled lobster in addition to the roasted. read more

My only issue and the main reason I give 4 stars instead of 5 (everybody that reads my reviews knows I'm pretty good about throwing out the 5 stars) is that they always have very slow and very poor service from the wait staff usually one girl primarily.. It just sucks because it's a fantastic place to go but when you have reservations and after being seated it takes you more than 10 to 15 minutes to even get water it really effects your choice on how many times you want to come back.. But I keep trying and hoping it gets better..lol read more

The restaurant itself was lovely and the waitstaff were great. The drink selection (cocktails, beer, and wine) was expansive and both of our drinks were fantastic! I had to do a little arm twisting to get my spouse to agree to order this one because we usually find restaurants serve severely undercooked Brussels and, frankly, I rock a roasted Brussels sprout dish at home. We were soo glad we ordered this. It was so delicious!! My spouse even mumbled something about them being better than mine, and I agreed. The haddock sandwich my spouse ordered was perfectly fine. Nothing special - good or bad - but the fries were delicious. I usually eat only 4-5 fries off my own plate when I get them, but I ate at least a dozen off her plate! Perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I'll say it . . . they were kind of like McDonald's fries. As for my pasta dish, I first want to thank the restaurant for offering half orders of the pasta dishes. I just love that!! Although I liked my cacio e pepe, it just wasn't the creamy "cheese and pepper" dish I was expecting. Frankly, I think the sauce broke and they still served it to me. The flavor was still kind of there and I did manage a several bites, but I probably left half the dish behind. That's the fifth star I left behind too. Again, this is a restaurant we will definitely return to when we find ourselves driving through Wiscasset again. read more

What an absolutely wonderful place to eat! The atmosphere is warm, the lighting soothing and the space open. If you like brussel sprouts try them for a starter you will be amazed. I had the broiled haddock with whipped potatoes and broccolini and every bite of the haddock was moist and full of deliciousness. My boyfriend had the burger and my daughter steak and oysters. The crispy salmon with lobster - bacon hash was a great choice for dinner. Usually my BF and I share our dinners, but this time we both wanted this dish. We loved it. The salmon skin was as crispy as advertised and the flesh was tender. The hash, a first for me, was tasty with small pieces of lobster throughout. Our portions were generous. We sat at the bar because we did not book a table in advance. The bar tender was friendly, talented and very efficient. The basil lemonade and Wiscassett smash cocktails were refined and delicious. The ambience was casual, warm and friendly. The place was highly recommended and we agreed totally with our friend's opinion. The bread and butter were delicious. We shall return. read more

I went to Water Street Kitchen on a cold winter night...it was 18 degrees outside and we had just gotten 7 inches of snow a few days earlier. Walking into the warm cozy atmosphere was such as pleasant surprise. Lovely bar, couches and a tiny flaming stove in the corner of the room. We were immediately asked if we had a reservation...it was a Friday night after all, we did not, but since it was early-ish (5:15pm), they were able to seat us in the sun room overlooking the freezing looking river. I can imagine in the summer this room must be beautiful! Even in winter, with the festive lights strung on the ceiling the room is lovely. I was with my Niece and my daughter who both ordered Shirley temples. My daughter is a bit of a burger-connoisseur, so she got the burger - and it was SO GOOD, and big - she couldn't quite finish it. We also ordered the burnt Brussel sprouts to share - even my 11 year daughter loved these and now I've been making them at home (thank you Water Street Kitchen!!) The shoe-string fries were great too. My niece and I split a burger which was plenty for us with the fries and Brussel sprouts. Both burgers were cooked perfectly. The server was excellent...advised me on the wine by the glass, and brought bread/butter to the table (twice) for my hungry girls. Great experience all around. read more

Our favorite restaurant in Wiscasset! We have been there twice this year while we were up on separate weekends. One weekend we specifically drove up from Massachusetts and stayed overnight just to have dinner here! I had the Roasted Lobster in whiskey butter both times and my husband had the Scallops and Risotto both times because they were both so delicious! Their Mai Tais are amazing as are their desserts. I had the Snickers Cheesecake and my husband had the Gluten Free Chocolate Cake. Service was wonderful, especially our last time up there a few weeks ago. I didn't get our servers name but he was amazing and so fun to talk to. It is right on the water and very cozy inside. We were there the first time before Christmas and it was all lit up inside and beautiful. We will be back!! read more

I don't normally do reviews, but felt I needed to after my experience there. I moved to this area about 2 years ago and went to the Water St restaurant last year with my daughter visiting from DC and it was great. So when my girlfriend came to celebrate my 69th birthday last Sunday night, I said I know the place to go. I like the ambiance but really had several issues with the food and service. We had drinks and appetizer which were fine, but our dinner took way too long to come out. A couple came in at least 15 minutes after us, and were served and finished dessert by the time out entree finally came. Our waitress never apologized or acknowledged our ridiculously long wait. My girlfriend's shrimp scampi was quite good, but my dinner was pretty bad. The halibut was very small and completely overcooked to the point of dry and unappetizing. The bed of risotto it layed on was extremely salty and gummy and I really couldn't eat it. I probably should have said something then but we were one of the last parties there for a Sunday night, and I really didn't feel like making waves at that moment. But I did want to let someone know about what happened. read more
