We stumbled upon Bistro on 6th while making our way back home from vacation. What a great find!!! The owners were a delight and very attentive. The interior is welcoming and very well decorated. The food was delicious (probably the best food we had while on our vacation). Generous portions. I ordered the pickle board for my meal. It came with thick sliced toast, pimento cheese, apple slices, baked ham slices, nuts and a jar of pickled vegetables. I didn't think I would eat it all but I came very close. The atmosphere was nice but the food was overpriced for how small some of the items were. the pickle board was good but i wish it had more considering the pickle board cost more than all of the entrees we got. the pasta salad was dry and small. the service was good. the cajun turkey sandwich was good though. this was the most expensive lunch i've had. read more

During our cross-country trip we passed through Bristol and wanted a good dinner. We came across bistro on 6th using Yelp and it had eight five-star reviews. The menu looked good and it's in a historic and really cool part of the city. I'm glad we chose this restaurant. Upon entry we were greeted immediately by friendly staff. Our server, Carla, was very friendly and attentive to us throughout our visit. She made our visit fun and ensured we were happy. We ordered the pickle board appetizer. The homemade pickles and vegetables, naan and white pimento cheese were epic. We ordered the salmon and rice special and the fish and chips special. Both delicious. The salt encrusted salmon was prepared perfectly as was the fish and chips. The restaurant offers several beers and ales. If you prefer wine, bring it in. They will uncork it for you for a modest corkage charge. If you're anywhere near Bristol, bistro on 6th is a must. read more

My wife and I decided to give this place a shot. We arrived on a Thursday around 7:30. We were greater by smiling faces and a warm welcome. Our sever quickly greeted. We ordered the Brussel sprouts "small plate" This portion was anything but small. There was enough to be split by 4 people let alone just 2. They were absolutely incredible. The sauce was slightly sweet and tart. A perfect combination for the crispy Brussels. I wish I could be as glowing about our entrées. My wife got the bistro burger and I the fish and chips. While her burger was cook perfectly. It had very little flavor and absolutely no seasoning. It was accompanied by some very boring frozen French fries. My fish and chips suffered from the same lack of seasoning. Even the tarter sauce tasted like straight Mayo with no additional flavor. Found this little gem while riding through downtown Bristol. While checking out the local eateries on yelp we noticed that we were in the corner of 6th and decided on giving it a try. What a great little place with a very relaxed atmosphere. The service was on point , very fast and very friendly . The food is phenomenal !!! More than I expected. What a lovely, delightful little place! We chose it based on reviews and we were not disappointed. Bistro on 6th is tucked away on a side street in Bristol, Tennessee (Or is it Virginia?). The menu is not too small, but just right. I had the shrimp and grits, my partner the burger. Both were perfect! We could hear the kitchen crew singing! Keep in mind, they have only soft drinks and beer. If you'd like some wine, feel free to bring your own. The cork fee is only $5. They were out of dessert when we were there, but the waitress directed us to Blackbird Bakery, which has amazing pastry and delicious ice cream. But that's another review. read more

We went in on a Wednesday for lunch after Christmas shopping no wait we were seated immediately. Our server greeted us immediately with menus and their specials. The menu was so great it was hard to make a decision. Finally with a little bit of help from our server, we decided on the Tomato basil bisque which was delicious! My husband decided on a wonderful grilled cheese unlike any he has had before and loved it! I had a a fresh garden salad with grilled chicken with a house made citrus vinaigrette which was lovely. The Champagne Pork is delicious, but I have eaten there several times and the consistency on other dishes is not great. Some dishes are so salty you can't eat them. I like the atmosphere and service is usually good. They need to work on the menu (some items no longer available even though still on the menu) and be more consistent with taste and size of servings. read more

My husband and I had lunch today at Bistro on 6th and Emily our waitress was amazing! We both ordered a salad with salmon, which was cooked to perfection. For dessert we had the homemade pecan pie, which was to die for. Very nice atmosphere. Only negative comment is owner was doing business on the phone in the dining room and was very loud, which made our conversation difficult to hear one an other. I had heard really good things about these folks and their bistro, but had just not gotten around to trying them out. Big mistake on my part. When we did get there on Saturday night, they exceeded all expectations. Very interesting and unique menu, with an impressive variety of seasonal offerings. The pork belly polenta was exceptional, and the portabella appetizer and sauce were delicious. The shrimp and grits were exceptional. The staff were very friendly, engaging, and invested in your dining experience. We'll be back, often and soon. read more
