From the outside, we were not expecting much maybe a nice sports bar. We walked into a fantastic space with tasteful modern decor that really had a NYC vibe. My party, unfortunately, had what can only be described as a dismal experience at Brooklyn Grill. After making a 6:00 reservation , we arrived just a few minutes early. Our party of 3 was seated in a largely empty dining room. We were given 2 menus despite there being 3 of us. We waited 15 minutes before being approached by a server with water. She left and it was another 15 minutes of waiting before she returned to take our drink order and offer us bread. We waited again approximately 5 minutes before 2 drinks arrived. We had to flag down the second and only other server/hostess working the dining room to ask for our missing drink. We were seated close enough to the kitchen to overhear our server apologize to other staff for "forgetting." Mind you, there are 3 of us seated at a 4-top and only two of us had drinks. Due to having to wait 30 minutes simply to place a drink order, we opted to pass on appetizers and place our order for entrees promptly. From the time we received all of our drinks, bread, and placed our food order, our server did not check in with us once within the next hour. We watched two tables-worth of guests get up and leave before even receiving a drink order due to having to wait as we had. Due to having an event to attend later in the evening, my party made the decision that we had to leave before our entrees arrived, 1.5 hours after arriving and our reservation time. We notified the second server/hostess of our need to depart and were made to believe our entrees hadn't even been started in the kitchen, again 1.5 hours after our reservation time. We left more than enough cash on the table to pay for our 3 drinks and left. As we were pulling out of the parking lot, our server magically reappeared questioning why we were leaving. We politely explained that we had tickets to an event and were going to be late, noting we had informed the other staff person since she had not checked on us and left money for our drinks. She admitted she had not communicated with the other server, nor had she checked the table before abandoning her other guests and coming outside. As we started to pull away, she began yelling and cursing at us claiming that her service wasn't to blame for our departure. I enjoy fine dining and elevated food experiences. However, I have NEVER stepped foot in an establishment that 1) doesn't have prices listed on their menu, 2) is so short staffed they cannot adequately turn a non-multiple course tasting within 2 hours, and 3) have the audacity to chase after and disrespect guests who have left and expressed their disappointment in service. We luckily made it to our event, but with empty stomachs. read more

I stopped in late one night close to closing time but was never made to feel rushed. I liked the romantic lighting and nice decor. I ordered the special which was sea bass and it was delicious but my real favorite thing was the Brussels sprouts! I don't even really like Brussels sprouts but know they are good for me and these were by far the best I ever had! Wow! I said I'd come back and just make a meal of those! I like supporting local small business and this husband and wife team do a wonderful job. I look forward to getting back and trying the chicken Marsala. Fantastic! Worth your visit and lunch is way better than expected. The portions and flavoring were spot on.

Just happened to come across this place while we were out. There was a sudden thunderstorm, so we pulled in and parked. It didn't look like much from the outside, we just wanted a place to get out of the rain and have a warm meal. We recently moved to Bristol and decided to try this place because we have driven past it quite a few times. We were greeted at the door by the hostess and the restaurant was completely empty, except for two tables. The hostess looked at us, and then looked at her list. We asked if there was a table available for five because we had our three children. She scrunched her nose and said, "without a reservation?"... She then looked around the empty restaurant and looked back on her "reservation" list and said, "wow, I don't think I can squeeze you in!" You've got to be kidding me. Maybe it was the way we were dressed, it is summer by the way. Or it could have been our children. But because of the cold reception we said, "no thanks" and got out of there as quick as we could. I have never been turned down at a restaurant before, especially at one that was so empty. I'm glad your restaurant is fully thriving and you are able to turn away patrons. That must be a great spot to be in. We will never go here again and will be sure to share our experience with anyone we come across. I'm sure the food is ok, but having such horrible customer service skills really hurts a business. It's too bad because most customers return due to how they were treated, and I can assure you, we will never be back. read more

The best I can say about the Brooklyn Grill after multiple visits is "hit or miss". Since the menu is $$$ it's not the kind of place you want to have one of those "misses" at. Just this week I ordered a ribeye having had the prime rib my previous visit. The prime rib was excellent but the ribeye came way over done. When I attempted to send it back I was told just eat the middle, don't eat the well done portions. I've dined frequently at Morton's, Lowery's, Ruth's Chris and never have I been told only to eat the center of my steak. To make matters worse I had to speak with 4 different people to get this addressed. Even after speaking to the owner, they still left the steak on my bill. That was the last straw. So you get a 2 for 1 here, the food is good when it's good and terrible when it isn't. And if they have a crowd be warned they don't have a kitchen to keep up so you will wait and wait after you order. The service sucks and in my opinion bad service never makes up for good food. This is a nice older place. They had chicken tenders and French fries for a 6 year old even though it was not on the menu. There was also allowances for my vegetarian granddaughter and my lactose intolerant needs. My husband said his meal was also very nice. It is a little expensive. There were some stains on the tablecloth. It could be updated a bit. All of the sauces on the foods were amazing. read more

We went to The Brooklyn Grill on April 6, upon the recommendation of a friend. We had not been to the restaurant for several years. I was impressed with the number of items on the menu. I had a rack of lamb, which was a special. My wife had chicken Marsala and our friends both had salmon piccata. My lamb was cooked perfectly I also tasted my wife's chicken and found it to be flavorful and also tender. Our friends said they thought their salmon was delicious. Also, what was impressive about the restaurant was that it offered six different vegetables as sides. I had spinach. My wife had Brussel Sprouts and our friends had potatoes and broccoli. We thought that the vegetables were also flavorful and not over cooked. We finished the meal by sharing two desserts, both very delicious. The server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and attentive to us but did not hurry us. The restaurant was not crowded nor loud. To be honest, being a New Yorker on a road trip when I saw this place I expected it to be terrible but it was like 9 pm and my group was starving and this was the first place we saw out of our hotel so starving beggars cant be choosers. An excellent choice for everyday dining as well as special events. My wife and I enjoy our dinners there at least monthly and frequently more often and we recently entertained a birthday party for twelve that went perfectly. The crab cakes, melanzane, and shrimp cocktail make excellent starters but the serving size is more in the 'small plate' or standard European category. With the addition of a side or two they will more than suffice for a dinner service. For dinner I recommend the duck l'orange. The duck is nicely browned and the orange sauce makes a perfect complement. The haricot vert style beans, when available, are a good choice for a side. read more

One of the wife's friends from work told us about this restaurant so despite the rain went went. It was 90 degrees earlier that day so we all had on shorts and t-shirts. The building doesn't look like much but still we proceeded in. Well about 5 steps in the libby we were told they were all booked up for the night. Our moths dropped to the floor when we hear this. There were about 20 tables with only customers at 2 of them. The hostess was super quick to tell us "NO" so back in the rain we go. This was last Saturday 7/29/2023 around 5:10pm. The place opens at 5pm. What a dismal place, let me tell you. We are from the big city so we are hesitant to eat at dives like this, but we were on the way home from the mall. Just to let you know we went to The Pinnacles and ate at Drakes. Drakes was very accommodating to say the least, the bill was just over $100. Do not ever go to Brooklyn grill & cafe, ever, ever! Bristol did not top my list of culinary experiences BUT I tend to disagree!! Being from S Florida and tending to eat out frequently I was not looking forward to eating deep fried veggies and calling them "veggies". When I stepped into Brooklyn Grill in Bristol, it looks like and american bistro-applebee's style joint. OH NO, I was wrong. Its a family business owned by a Chef and his wife, our waitress. She does a great job making it homey. Wine selection was decent, full bar, but wait the food is YUMMY!!! I had the penne de mare YUM, coworker had duck he said it was delish, Salmon GREAT, and lobster ravioli....another WIN. I highly recommend this place if you want a great meal. I haven't been around Bristol a lot lately. When I think of eating out when visiting my parents, I think of Ruby Tuesday or other chain restaurants. So when my sister suggested that we have lunch out, I was expecting on of the chains. But she suggested, Brooklyn Grill and off we went. The first thing I saw when I opened the Crab Cake Sandwich. New York style. I asked how it was, she said it was spicy. My mother asked how much breading is there? Response ... not much it is mostly crab. So I decided to take a chance to try them out. Well, I wasn't disappointed. It was a large crab cake. Not only was it large, it was delicious. It was almost too much ... and that is impressive given I am a crab lover. Oh man! I have lived in Bristol for 18 years and hadn't eaten here until now. Mom and I were wondering around looking for a new dinner spot and she suggested this one. I was completely blown away by the taste of every single thing that was set on our table. The cactus chili was so sweet yet spicy. The pork chop with apples was the best pork chop I have ever eaten. Mom got the French onion soup which she cooed over as she ate. She also got the crab cake sandwich which was delicious. I went to school and worked in Manhattan for years before coming to the tri city area. Also lived in Brooklyn for a year, so I was tickled by its name and wondered if the food tastes like Brooklyn. Well, food is quite good, menu is rather like cafes of Brooklyn than Bristol. While our hostess/waitress was friendly, I should have stuck with the menu than what she said that worked and was ok to change. My fiance tried crab cake sandwich since many other yelpers are raving about it (and it was yummy, a bit on the salty side), and I got the $18 Mahi Mahi salad. But I also wanted pan seared tuna... the staff told me the substitution could be made but left out the extra $14 part. When my salad arrived, it had a huge chunk of tuna. I mean it was huge to be in a salad! When you eat a seared tuna that is raw inside, most places cut it up small for ya, otherwise it's just.. too much tuna. Also they are usually well-seasoned so you don't taste slightest bit of that fishy taste. Well, mine was not only as big as a T bone, it was bland. Just too much bland raw tuna. It also unfortunately didn't work with the rest of the salad. :( I ended up asking for some raw onions to make it more edible. I think charging extra $14 wasn't all that bad as the meat was so big, but you can imagine what I felt when saw the check. A 32 dollar salad that was mediocre, I have had better salads under $20 in Brooklyn or Manhattan. Am I going back after all this? Yes, I will give it another try, after I am healed from this initial experience. Everyone has bad days. But I will stay with the menu, and accept that I am here not to expect a taste of Brooklyn, but a "feeling" of Brooklyn. read more

I travel quite a bit for work so I'm always looking for a good meal in an unfamiliar area. I found myself in Bristol for work about a year ago (sorry, just catching up on my reviews!) and decided to give this place a shot. Two things -- Awesome food. Great service. It's owned and operated by a husband/wife couple, where the husband is the chef and the wife is the hostess/server. She was so nice! I had the crab cake sandwich and it was amazing. I will definitely go back if I'm in Bristol again. *One thing to note, and I'm not sure if this is always the case or just happened to be when I was there, but I was the youngest person in there....by far ('m in my mid-twenties). I did go during the week so maybe that had something to do with it. This is neither good or bad in my opinion, just simply making note of it. All in all, awesome place! read more

After waiting 15 mins for water, the server finally came by and took my drink order, it was another 15 mins. for my drink to arrive and to give my food order. In the meantime, I ask to speak to the manager/owner and when I expressed my concerns about the lack of attentiveness from the server, he made excuses and basically blew it off like "whatever". They weren't busy (only a couple of other people in the place) and the food (that took 30 mins to arrive at the table) was good but not great. Not worth the expense! I was told by the hotel front desk that this was the best restaurant in town. He is misinformed. The atmosphere is comfortable but the food is horrible. What a wonderful place to eat! The food was incredible and our server, Lauren, was absolutely amazing. She took our order, was able to answer detailed questions about their food and made every effort humanly possible to ensure that my wife's gluten allergy would be taken care of during the preparation of our food. The crab cake appetizer was amazing and there was no hint of shell, an almost impossible task for the chef. Our filet steaks were cooked to perfection and seasoned perfectly. The broccoli, cauliflower and potatoes were flavorful and very nicely prepared. The salad and dressings were just right. The ambiance was nice and we felt very relaxed while our food was prepared. Lauren continually checked with us to ensure everything was just right and she kept our water glasses full.
