I've eaten here before and loved it, but it's almost like they switched from a chef to a McDonalds line cook, except McDonalds has better food than what I was served. The salmon did not taste good. My husbands seafood special did not include shrimp as advertised. I think it was a clearing house for soon to expire fish. He did not like how his dinner tasted either. There was barely any chicken in the pricey blackened chicken pasta my friend ordered, she was questioning if it contained any chicken and finally found a couple of pieces. The cauliflower side dish was not good. Avoid it. Overall It was a $50 disappointment this visit. My friends spent an equally disappointing $60. I was embarrassed I'd suggested this place to my friends . In the middle of the night I woke up with stomach cramps, nausea and chills. A mild case of food poisoning. We have been going to Bite for the last 5 years. We are loyal customers and have always recommended this restaurant. It is hard to write this review but I think it is needed because the food I ordered was something I couldn't believe actually passed inspection to be delivered to a customer's table. The short rib gravy with fries was flavorless, meatless and overpriced for french fries with a brown sauce on it. My side was the vegetable of the day, yellow squash with mushrooms. It looked as if they scraped the bottom of the pan. It was blah tasting, lacked an appetizing appearance and quite frankly I would have been embarrassed to serve this dish, less charge someone for it. Very poor effort done on this meal. I came here tonight with my boyfriend and the food was incredible but the service was a little bit of a let down. I have had this place on my radar for years at this point and after moving to Loveland and making a restaurant alphabet of places to try, I figured it was finally time to check it out. I made reservations at around 11 this morning and they told us that the only spot that they had available was 5:15 which worked fine enough for my boyfriend and I so I gave them my information. On the phone was they mentioned that we would have to be out by 6:45 since their reservations are only for an hour an a half - totally fine and I absolutely get that, but it is a weird thing to say on the phone when making a reservation in my opinion. When I worked in a restaurant, you were just sure to keep up the pace to keep people moving in a timely manner and used cues (getting them the check, offering dessert, etc.) to get people out. The pace was extremely slow seemingly only for our table. We got there at 5:15 - it is mildly difficult to spot because it looks like a residential home so you definitely have to be on the look out for it. We got seated and got some waters and an appetizer - the apple, brie, and walnut flatbread. It was quite delicious with a lot of surprising and fresh flavors to it. The honey added a delightful sweetness, though we definitely both had to wash our hands after the dish. We had to wait a bit to be able to put in our entrees - I got the Caesar with chicken and my boyfriend got the basil pesto fettuccine. This is when the time becomes relevant - we didn't get our entree until 6:20 pm. So in an hour of us being there, all we had was a flatbread and some water. I wasn't necessarily rushed by the wait staff - quite the contrary, I was hoping the meal would go by a bit faster than it did. After we ate our dinner, we ordered the vegan donuts as a dessert and that also took quite a bit to come out. We also had to wait a while to get a box for my dish and to get our check. In the back of my mind, I felt kind of rushed because of what they said on the phone about their strict reservations. I worked in food service for a while so I get that it is annoying for people to take up a table longer than you want them to - but we were literally waiting so long for everything. I think it had to have been at least half an hour to forty five minutes just for the entrees, so there goes a good chunk of the time we would have to enjoy our food. There was at least one table that had come in after us, had their entire meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert), and left by the time we got our entree. My mom and I came here for lunch and really enjoyed our experience. For some reason her GPS took us a little down the road so it was hard to find at first, it's literally in a house so it blends in! So many locally sourced options, it was a delight to see that this option to eat local has established in Milford. I had the white chocolate and coconut hot chocolate - holy cow it was soooooo good. I started with a salad tossed in the sesame peanut dressing and it was so good I wanted to buy a bottle of it. The lobster Mac n cheese was also good, and unfortunately this gets one less star because I was disappointed in the veggie burger. Seriously though, I can't say enough good things about this place! I'm addicted! Been here every week for the last four weeks and simply do not want it to end. Last visit we enjoyed a Cuban sandwich that was out of this world delightful. The side of green beans were cooked to perfection! We also split the lobster mac which was beyond yummy. The chocolate cake was unlike anything I have ever had before I mean really, out of this world perfection. Bite was the first restaurant my husband and I came to when we moved to the Cincy area. It has really good reviews, and their menu looked really interesting, so I was expecting a great experience. I'm a HUGE fan of seafood. Though my husband isn't much of a fan, so I usually don't buy it to make at home. That's why when I'm out, I order seafood if the price is right. That being said, the blueberry maple salmon sounded mouthwatering. It also sounded fascinating. Blueberry and maple go well together, but with salmon? I wasn't sure how it would be, though I was eager to try it. When our server brought out our plates, it looked beautiful. The salmon was cooked really really well. It was probably one of my favorite salmon dishes in terms of how it was cooked. But the flavors of blueberry and maple just weren't there. The underside of the salmon was the color of blueberries when my plate came out, so I fully expected it to have the flavors I was promised. Sadly, it just tasted like salmon. Which is okay, because I do enjoy the taste of seafood. It just felt like what was promised was not what I was given. The avocado cream and the rice were also super delicious, My husband ordered the boot, which he enjoyed pretty well. I'm confident Bite can make good food, but their flavors were sorely lacking on my dish. I do plan to go back at some point because there are plenty of things on the menu I want to try. Though I will say due to my experience, I'm not dying to go back, and it was moved further down my list. Oh, and a piece of advice for this place: make a reservation. It's pretty small. Luckily, my husband and I were able to get a table when we walked in, but we did have to be out in an hour due to another reservation. This worked out for us. Walking in is like a walk through the Secret Garden, with all the tomato plants and variety of vegetables growing all around. There is even a bee hive in the back, past the parking lot! Bite is also BYOB/W(wine), making this the perfect place for a nice date night or ladies night out. The array of options offers much for everyone. I typically will never get a salad out to eat because they usually consist of lettuce and carrots... (not a salad). But here they are loaded! Quinoa, edamame, nuts, berries, tofu, chicken... Seriously, one of the most flavorful and filling salads ever! There are gluten free and vegan dessert options of which I indulged in one. The "cookie dough" dessert is so great and unique, paired with fresh fruit to dip in! First time at Bite after wanting to visit some of the cute downtown shops in Milford. We ordered the wings with dry rub for an appetizer and the Reuben sandwich with fries. The wings were the best thing we ordered, served warm with a crispy skin. The rub was delicious to me but my husband wasn't a fan. It was slight sweet, Smokey with a little pinch of heat. It reminded me of grippos seasoning but smokier. My Reuben was.... ok. Meat was cut too thick and wasn't very tasty. I felt it had too much sauerkraut and not enough sauce. I only ate half. My husband ordered a burger and felt it was over cooked and dry. We also ordered 2 sweet teas, total balance was $42. Service a bit slow and took awhile to get our food out and even for initial service but it was a bit busy. The overall atmosphere is pretty cute, especially outside. Sun flowers out front with outdoor seating and a small garden. Restaurant is family friendly and would be good for kids. Not sure if I would return. Bite is the hidden gem in Milford. The restaurant is a beautiful house that was newly renovated into the restaurant, but I would recommend sitting outside because they have a beautiful patio. I sat outside and I would prefer to do that anyway. Our server was constantly around with more water and made sure we never had to ask for anything. We ordered an appetizer, meal and dessert and each one was better than the last. I would definitely recommend the banana bread and ice cream for dessert. I was impressed with how many unique salad dressings the restaurant had to offer. Their dishes are very unique and more than fresh as they grow a lot of their own ingredients. I ordered blackened fish and couldn't believe how good it was for being in Ohio. Not to mention, this place is very very inclusive for eating needs. My husband and I tried Bite for the first time last week. I live nearby in Loveland and am in the market for more local restaurants to frequent when I'm not in the mood to drive downtown. The restaurant is located in a small renovated house. There is a bit of parking near the door, but unfortunately it was all taken when we arrive. So we parked in the back and walked around. This was only memorable because it was raining. This evening was sort of a spur-of-the-moment date night, so I hadn't made a reservation, but we arrived around 5pm, so I didn't anticipate a meal that early to be too big of a problem. When we walked in, we weren't really greeted, but a waiter asked if we had a reservation. We said no, which was met with an, "uhhhhh... hang on, let me see what we have." Not a great first impression. The dining room is TINY, so I could see three empty tables, only one of which was clearly reserved. We were seated shortly after, but were left to wait on our waitress for quite a bit before she stopped by to take our drink orders. We just got water, which came out quickly, but she disappeared after without asking if we were ready to order, which we were. So we waited. And waited. Our waitress seemed very young, maybe inexperienced. The other waitress I could see was much more diligent and efficient with her tables and I couldn't help but wish she was our waitress instead. Eventually, she returned and took our order. Our food came out promptly. This is what earns Bite it's four stars. The food was very hot and fresh, including the french fries. My husband had gotten a Cuban sandwich and I had chosen the Reuben sandwich. Both were incredibly delicious, no complaints there! We were both very happy with our meals. Now that I know to make a reservation, I don't think we will have any trouble enjoying future encounters at Bite. We will definitely be back. read more

The smokey herby smell when you walk is is both homey and exotic and it draws you in. For me it is a little bit of a drive. Luckily Uber is available in the area. I've been twice and both times have had the green curry (I'm Vegan). It is the best green curry I have had, and I've had a lot of green curry. The wait staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Both times the company I was with were highly satisfied with their meals. The fact that it is a byob helps keep the price down. It is well worth the 5 stars. read more

I'm going to be the first one to review this place, and I wish my review was going to be full of "it's so delicious," "a gem in Milford," etc... But, alas... Our food was very meh. I liked mine (reuben egg rolls + fries) more than my husband liked his (cheeseburger + fries). The reuben egg rolls were different and I enjoyed them enough, but don't feel like I'll need them again in this lifetime. The fries honestly pissed me off. $3 for like 15 fries. Are you kidding me? Also, they were the thick crinkle cut fries. AKA, not worth $3. My husband was disappointed because he wanted to try the deep fried cheeseburger (sounds ridiclous/amazing, yes?). However, he just wanted it plain and our waitress informed us that it came prepackaged and therefore couldn't be altered. Not what you want to hear from a local restaurant. Also, I'm not a restaurant critic, except here, but I do watch a lot Kitchen Nightmares, so I probably know what I'm talking about. This restaurant would do so much better if they narrowed their menu down. We spent a lot of our dinnertime conversation discussing what they were trying for- the menu was crazy diverse with no real cohesion. They had lobster mac, cuban pork chops, reuben egg rolls, cheeseburgers, salmon, and a variety of salads. Pick like two things, and make them great- don't have this many options unless they are all delicious. Oh, did I mention this restaurant is in an old one floor house. I wanted to try the deep fried cheese burger...but, when I ordered it they told me it was pre-packaged, and filled with ketchup and mustard and relish and onions and all sorts of other nonsense. So, when I found out that was prepackaged with gross, I just got a regular burger. Then, the regular burger came out on a Kroger bun and I'm pretty sure the fries that were delivered along with it were purchased at Kroger too. All in all, I didn't like it one bit. They seem like they need to know their audience. They need to choose what they're going to be, and make it the best they can. You're in the middle of Milford. Down the street from Goshen. These people are giving all their effort to convert a 50's ranch house to a fine restaurant and they get an A for effort. Our food was very good if not great; it was, for the most part, creative, healthy and fresh (to be balanced, the salmon was frozen). It's clear they have a vision for something beyond the current physical layout. Would I go back? Maybe. Having said that, my wife wants to go back for a lunch, as the salads are creative and healthy (plus every one of their 6 or 7 dressings are homemade-- very impressive). I would be interested to see their lunch menu. Hopefully the owners will be successful enough to enhance and enlarge the dining area in the near term, which would make the experience less like eating in a barely-converted living room. The food is pretty darn good, and it's BYOB with no corkage fee! What's not to like about that? Support local entrepreneurs whenever possible. The seating is comfortable enough; booths are a bubbly shade of orange naugahyde, just gotta roll with it and enjoy yourself. Bring a good bottle of vino and have fun. Having been here more than a dozen times, it's never failed me. The owner, Rachel, is fantastic: she's a foodie and really gets excited about what she's doing. The food is consistently good, and everyone I take there (I introduced many people to the place) really enjoys it. I'm someone who is a picky eater, and who eats out seven days a week (no fast food, and rarely chains), and I've gained a reputation for finding hidden gems. Trust me: check out this place! Best salad I ever had in my life (the Healthy Bite with goat cheese, grapefruit segments, curry molasses dressing and chicken in addition to the usual salad suspects). My dad had the best sandwich of his life (grown-up grilled cheese with caramelized onions and four kinds of cheese). He's 95, so that's saying a lot. I LOVE this place. It's so nice to go somewhere that is ambitious with its menu and concept and yet unpretentious. Those who gripe about the decor are clearly NOT all about the food. It is common for true chefs (not cooks who reheat GFS stuff) to launch their concept in modest surroundings: it's part of the fun! (Cook's House in Traverse City comes to mind, as does Georgina's.) And I, for one, am not insulted to dine in an old '60s ranch with old chairs and pergo floors. (The booths were NOT raggedy, as another yelper mentioned.) Everything is homemade, from the salad dressings to the ice cream (it was honey fig today). They even corn their own briskets. And many ingredients are grown right in the front yard. We were there at lunch and the service was excellent. Could I imagine them getting a little overwhelmed on a Saturday night at 7? Yeah. But that's OK! Again, that's part of the fun. That's what make this a far more personal and rewarding experience than, say, The Precinct or Eddie Merlot's, or chains like Maggiano's. What a great surprise! We decided to have an adventure and head here last night, about 35 minutes from our house. While it wasn't super easy to find, it was a really cute old house with a garden in the front. We had a reservation, which was key as the whole place was full at 7:30 on a Friday. The ambiance is homey, it is a little loud when completely full, but not terrible. The food was outstanding, everything we had was lovely and well presented. The prices are very reasonable and being BYOB makes this a cheap night out. If we lived closer, we'd be here once a week. I'm not totally sure how I feel about this restaurant. It didn't really impress me with the food but I also didn't find anything to be outright bad. I had the Zymarika which was fettucine in a cream sauce with salmon, spinach, capers, and feta. It tasted fine but wasn't anything spectacular. My wife had the grilled shrimp over pasta with a pesto sauce. Once again everything tasted fine but my wife complained that the sauce was too oily. It tasted like the pesto had been made with butter which is not a bad thing but the pasta was swimming in oil (you could see the pool of oil in the plate). I also was able to try the chocolate cake which was good and very rich. The menu is kind of random with lots of items being served that don't seem to fit together. In one restaurant you can get rueben rolls, a cheese board, bahn mi lettuce cups, burgers, a super food salad, ribs, lobster mac and cheese, and creamy fettucine. There is no general theme to the restaurant and everything including the location all seems random and thrown together. From what I was able to taste and see nothing was bad but nothing seemed great either. It was an okay restaurant and while I don't have any desire to return I will at least give it three stars. The service was nice and attentive without being overbearing. It is BYOB and there is a store right down the street from which you can purchase beer or wine so keep that in mind if you visit. read more

This is a great hidden gem to discover. The restaurant is inside a ranch house, renovated into a cottage like atmosphere. It is very comfortable and has a friendly staff. Our server, the manager/possible restaurant owner checked on us frequently, but not overbearingly. It was clean, and creatively decorated. The bathrooms are unisex, but clean and decorated nicely. There is also an option to buy local jams and products at the counter. The menu is fantastic, many selections that vary from your typical American eatery. We had the Cuban Sandwich, Blackened Chicken, lobster Mac n cheese, coleslaw, mashed red potatoes, homemade doughnuts, and the chocolate cake. All were very delicious, with exception of maybe the coleslaw, which was pretty basic. The Cuban sandwich was a very tasty sandwich, and is highly recommended. The doughnuts and chocolate cake were amazing. The restaurant has a BYOB, so you are welcome to bring your own beer and wine into the restaurant. It would be great if this were explained on the website more clearly? My friend and I were unsure at first if that was a real thing. Also, the wine bottles in the sculpture pictured below are not wines for sale, but are just that, a sculpture. I had assumed it was wine for sale based on the photo in the website. It does get busy around noon and stays busy until about 1:30, but I didn't notice anyone waiting more than 5 minutes for a table. The street sign in front for the restaurant is hard to identify and associate with the restaurant, if I hadn't looked at the menu and recognized the logo, I might have passed it up. I really like that this is a farm to table restaurant and it is a treat to find a place like this in the middle of a small town in Ohio. I went with a group of 10 and we shared the Reuben egg rolls, the Brie, Apple and honey flat bread and the Banh Mi lettuce cups. The egg rolls were good and fried but there was a small amount of filling and you could not taste the individual flavors. The flat bread lacked flavor. The Banh mi lettuce wrap should be called a different name. It tasted good, but nothing like Banh mi- more like an Asian dumpling meatball sitting on a piece of lettuce topped with a mushroom. For the main dish, I had the super salad with salmon. The salmon was delicious and the salad was very filling. The lemon thyme dressing tasted too acidic and mustardy. For dessert, I shared the blueberry bread pudding with creme anglaise. Highlight of the night! So creamy and moist and flavorful. Service was very good and they are BYOB. read more
