I've eaten at Bite twice in two days and both times the food was excellent and the service was stellar. My first meal was the Wagyu Hamburger and it was very tasty. The fries were good, but they cooled off too quick. Oh well, I didn't need all those carbs anyway. My next meal was breakfast and I chose the Spanish Omelet. I'd never had one before so I can't judge by comparison. However I thought it was very good and I would not hesitate to order it again. I wasn't too happy with the diced red potatoes though. I would have liked them to be a little softer and they too cooled off a little too fast. It's not a bad restaurant but it's only open for breakfast and dinner. read more

Recently visited Tacoma for the first time for a golf trip and stayed at Hotel Murano. Had the pleasure of having breakfast 3 separate times at Bite as well as a late night desert. It's the restaurant at the Murano hotel and it's decent. Was traveling with a group and the first night they didn't feel like going out so we ate here. I also ate here for breakfast one morning during my stay. Dinner: Food: Decent fist tacos Good shrimp corn chowder Good steak au jus sandwich and fries Bad Calamari-very rubbery and the sauce that came with it not so good! Beers good! When we finally got a waitress (there were some issues with that) she was great. Breakfast: Food-breakfast sandwich good Potatoes-should be cooked longer. Stayed in the hotel and ate here a few times. Pretty good and very convenient. Prices are toward a bit high, but that is to be expected for a hotel restaurant. I enjoyed the mahi mahi tacos with lime. House salad didn't disappoint, and the calamari seemed hand-made and tossed in frozen from a bag. Although for the price, I wish there would have been more to enjoy. Service was consistently very friendly for me. They had a kids menu which consisted of chicken strips, pasta, hamburger, etc. Ended up ordering the mahi mahi tacos and french dip sandwich and kids chicken strips. The tacos were average, if that. The lime slices were dried up and the mahi was overcooked and dry. The kids portion was good. The bathrooms were clean and bright and smelled of perfume. Had a voucher from hotels for 2 drinks, paid for and included in the purchase of our hotel stay, and the restaurant refused to honor it for a simple cheaper beverage like a coffee or a soda or a tea, and said the voucher is only to cover an alcoholic beverage (which costs 5x more) so the business logic makes no sense, why wouldn't you allow someone to waste their voucher on a much cheaper healthy beverage? Instead of something expensive? The Mexican waitress Leticia was rude and curt and the most disrespectful. Horrible place, horrible service. read more

This is based solely on our breakfast we picked up to go. Staff was welcoming and friendly. I ordered the belgian waffle, 1 egg, and side of bacon. I was offered water while I waited. I don't think it took longer than 15 mins but I could smell my waffle being made! Everything was packed up nicely ready to go. When we got to the room the waffle was piping hot, crispy and airy like its supposed to be topped with powdered sugar. The sliced strawberries were separate as well as whipped cream so I easily assembled it to out liking. Syrups, condiments, utensils all packed nicely. My egg was made over easy as requested (it's usually always overcooked) and bacon crispy as requested. We enjoyed our food so much I wish I would've gotten it sooner instead of wasting money on subpar places. Pricier? Yes, but convenient and worth it in the case. read more

There were 2 tables in the restaurant that only had 4 people at them, and it took the lady over 10 minutes just to seat us. Breakfasts at hotel restaurants tend to be just this side of edible and extremely over-priced . . . I am unwilling to wait a half-hour on a wait list for such a breakfast when there is a McMenamins just a four minute walk away. I am usually willing to go hotel-restaurant because of the convenience . . . I'm looking at empty tables . . . They are seemingly understaffed . . . So perhaps I shall give it a try again tomorrow. If I succeed and breakfast "blow my skirt up" I will be back to revise this review and say how things went. Until then I will. Assume I was saved by fate today. Okay, I felt strongly compelled to actually eat at Bite in order to give it an actual fair review. For what was essentially an identical breakfast to what I ordered at McMenamins the total was only 14% higher, which, for a hotel was surprisingly good. The food was solidly hotel food. B-- if you were to compare to a regular restaurant, but not especially bad. So overall I wll give it a rating of three stars (average . . . What the place actually is). For a hotel restaurant, it exceeded my expectations. However, I highly encourage diners to leave the Hotel Murano and seek out more interesting options for their lunch or dinner. For breakfast, since we were hotel guests with vouchers letting us order anything on the menu, it was a delight. The Hotel Murano has a great location that let us easily walk down to Pacific Avenue and eat and drink at Pacific Grill and Indochine, both recommended. We actually did visit Bite as a dinner/late night dessert option and there were **crickets** on a Saturday night. The lobby bar was fun, but The Bite, located on the fourth floor, was pretty dead. Not to say there would be a problem with the food, but it was quiet. The Breakfast menu had great choices and we settled on the Meyer Lemon Pancakes and Breakfast Club. I was really tempted by the Red Velvet pancakes, which I don't recall ever seeing on a menu, but figured they could be brilliant or horrible. Again, because it was all inclusive, we added fresh squeezed orange juice, coffee and a fruit plate, Berry Best. The last dish was a visual feast. Portions were large and if we cleaned our plates, wouldn't have been hungry until dinner. Service was delightful and we felt very well cared for as we started our day in Tacoma. My breakfast rating would be a four for hotel guests because pricing would be an issue if I was footing the full bill. Again, my recommendation isn't as high for lunch and dinner since the city is at your footsteps. Go forth and wander! read more

Food was good but way overpriced. $50 for a steak. Where the real problem was the service. It wasn't even that crowded and it took 30 minutes of us being there to get two drinks. I ate here a few times because I was staying with a friend in this hotel. My first meal was on the pricey end: a $17 bowl of macaroni and cheese. Granted, it was macaroni and cheese made with multiple cheeses, sprinkled with truffles and used with orecchiette rather than macaroni, but it was still pricey unless you are counting calories. My co-eater got a half sandwich and fries -- garlic fries in particular. The server was kind enough to help her substitute the sandwich of the day in this combo for the sandwich she wanted, and her upgrade to garlic fries was not wasted -- they were probably the best I've ever had (you could taste the garlic!). Overall, decent lunch -- just cut the price on the mac and cheese! Our second meal was breakfast. I thought it wise to go down the street instead to grab some $4 breakfast burritos, but my friend wanted to eat in and just charge it to the room. I got the $10 breakfast sandwich, which was tasty but doused in butter, leaving me and my ever-growing waistline feeling guilty. So, the next day I skipped breakfast and decided to just take a run on the treadmill in the gym. My third occasion -- if you skip having a drink at the bar the evening prior (the yummy Jalapeno mojito with way too much ice but a great mix of sweet meets spicy and sour, $12) was trying out the day's soup on my way out. I should have braved the crab chowder, but I was spineless and ordered the chicken parm soup -- it did the job for $5. Bottom line: The food overall is fine, and the pricing is not too far off what's fair given the venue. Plus you get decent customer service, and if you're staying in the hotel, can easily charge it all to your room. Bon appetit! read more

Bite is quite the opposite, the food and service are excellent and the prices are very reasonable. Everything we've had has been excellent here. Service has been top notch. Not too bad of a place! Bite is located inside the Hotel Murano which makes the atmosphere of the restaurant quite pleasant. We were here on a weekend and we were seated quickly which was nice. The place was not too busy. We were given a menu and told that the kitchen was doing a limited lunch so they were not serving everything that they normally serve during lunch. I have no idea why. Maybe because it was the weekend or perhaps it was some other reason. Bite also has a good list of beer on tap so that provides plenty of variety which is always good. I ordered a BLT which was pretty good along with fries. It wasn't anything extremely memorable but the meal was satisfying. The waitresses were very nice and service was fairly prompt. Some of the tables could have stood a more thorough cleaning in between diners but other than that I have no significant complaints. read more

We were staying at the Hotel Murano for a wedding weekend, and we frequented Bite quite a few times since it on the 4th floor of the hotel. We had multiple brunches here, as well as a dinner. On our three visits to the restaurants, I had the Spanish Omelette, the All-American Breakfast, and the Kobe Burger for dinner. Overall, the food was good, but not worth the price. I think the average price of an entree was $17, and for that price, I would expect higher quality entree. I will say there were some dishes that are worth the price. Someone in our group had the Scallop and Prawn Fettuccine, and that dish was delicious. Although it could be that my choice in entrees is poor, there were several people who shared my sentiment with the food: good, but not worth the price. Overall, Bite isn't a bad option. Just be ready for it to put a dent in your wallet. read more

I stayed at Hotel Murano while in town for the Washington State Bar Exam. Although I had a less-than-stellar experience at the hotel itself, I really enjoyed my dinner at Bite. Bite is not a place to come if your looking for a large menu, affordable prices, and generous portions. It's quite the trendy restaurant (I mean, they call their happy hour appetizers "noshes"--need I say more?). Still, I was looking for a relaxing evening to take my mind off of my impending doom, and I thought a nice dinner at Bite would do the trick. When I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman who led me to my table and provided me with a wine menu. Their wine menu was great. I settled on the Kiona Riesling, which I really enjoyed. As alluded to above, their dinner menu is on the limited side. For dinner, they essentially have three categories of food--meat, seafood, and vegetarian. Within each category, they have four dishes. While a number of those dishes sounded absolutely amazing (grilled ribeye? truffle mac and cheese? YUM!), I decided on the risotto, a vegetarian dish with spring peas, asparagus, and parmesan. The risotto was to die for. Risotto can be so tricky to execute--you have to make it creamy without being mushy, and rich without it being overly-dense. Bite nailed it. The vegetables were also done perfectly: they had a nice bite to them without being underdone. The salty shaved parmesan was the icing on the cake, so to speak. I just wish there had been a little more of it! As for the service, it was fantastic throughout the night. The server was very attentive and friendly. Oh, and the view is simply phenomenal. The restaurant is located on the fourth floor of the hotel, and, because it's on a hill, you get gorgeous views of the city. If you're staying at Hotel Murano or just live in the Tacoma area, Bite is certainly a place to consider for a classy evening (a date, perhaps?). Place has become a favorite place to go to for breakfast for one reason, and one reason only, they have yummy Huckleberry Pancakes! If you haven;t had the Huckleberry pancakes, you dont know what your messing out on, the pancakes have always been cooked perfect, and get OJ with it of course. This place was a quiet surprise. After a crazy work day, I was pleased with the subdued atmosphere of Bite and my table for 1 with a view of Mt. Rainer. The service and food are solid. My waiter was attentive but not pushy. He kept my water glass filled, brought warm bread, and assisted me with my entree choices. I chose the Pan-Seared Halibut, which was served with Yukon gold mashed potatoes and grilled asparagus. I didn't taste much of the lemon wine sauce and think it would have brightened the dish...but that's me being picky, lol. House made Oreo cheesecake was my choice for dessert. It was delish, but I could only eat about half. A gobbled up his benny. A large group came in for coffees right after us and we were kind of forgotten after that because they were quite demanding. I'm usually downstairs, at the bar where there's couches, but I'd say both spots are great. I often come here sometime during the week after 5 o'clock. I decided to catch up with a friend this weekend in the afternoon. There was an entirely different staff, with the exception of a few familiar faces. I was still greeted the same, and treated like a regular. The staff are awesome; it's easy to hold conversation with many. If you get Sandra or Krissm, you are going to have an amazing time. A few of my favorite drinks are the Eroica Riesling, the Murano Mule, and any mixed drink that the lady downstairs with the short, dirty blonde hair makes. I know that is a horrible way to refer to someone--my apologies if you're reading-- at least you make your drinks well! Lastly, the bites are wonderful. Try the truffle fries (honey mustard & ranch are a must), the charcuterie board (ask for honey comb), the grilled asparagus, and/or the arugula salad. Service was delightful,but the food was mediocre. I mean it was ok, just ok tasting. So if you are looking for a cool place to hang this is it.
