Went to Bites for lunch around 1pm on a Friday. We were the only ones in the place until half way through our meal. We tried several dishes. Gyoza, which were very tasty but I would have preferred a little more time in the pan to get that nice crispy bottom. Chicken Katsu sliders, excellent and very fresh. Great dipping sauces and using chicken thighs for the chicken Katsu made them very flavorful. Taro fries, actually more like potato sticks. More great dipping sauces. very good. Chicken Katsu Bao and a pork Bao. A little different than a traditional Bao where the filling is in the inside of the bun. These were like folded "pillows" of dough with the filling in the fold. Another good choice. I would definitely return and try more things (there is an extensive sushi menu). The Thai tea was also very good. read more

The restaurant is SOOO cute! The ambience is definitely aesthetically pleasing. Love coming here for happy hour as they have really good deals such as $4 sangria and $1 crab chips. If you check into yelp, you get free taro chips, which is a plus. The taro chips are addicting! You'll want to keep nibbling on them. The General Tso Chicken Sandwich is HUGE and yummy, though on the spicier side. It comes with two large chicken patties and super crispy fries. Will continue to keep coming back. read more

This place was definitely pretty amazing. Although the back paint area we were in wasn't the most stellar, the food/drinks more than made up for my apprehension. We ordered 2 apps/2 entrees which were out with no delays, and the cocktails were amazing. I'd definitely recommend the "wake me up before you go go", it was ridiculously refreshing and delicious (not to mention the fresh mango cubes on a cocktail stick). Gorgeous noodles with crispy fried tofu and broccoli. They also have taro root fries that were more than delicious. I came here with a reservation for restaurant week. We checked in and got the free taro fries which were cold but not bad. After our waitress took our order, it took multiple reminders and about 30 minutes just to get our drinks. After that, we only received the appetizer for our meal. At this point, the apps were cold and we had been seated for an hour and 40 minutes. We had other obligations and the service and food were way too slow. I was torn between a 4 or 5 star review but went with 5 because of just how exceptional the 5-Spice Duck ramen was. This dish definitely stole the show! Not to say that the other things we tried weren't equally delicious, but this is definitely a must try when going to Bites! Prices were fair and affordable and service was good. Not the type of place you end up wanting to drink much at - this is the perfect type restaurant for BYOB but it isn't unfortunately. Overall I'd definitely recommend! read more

I ordered from here through Uber eats and it was very underwhelming. We got 6 things and only 2 out of the 6 were good. We got the Samurai and bites sushi which were the two that were good. The duck bao bun, general tso good chicken, tiger cry, and Shrimp sui Mai were just ok. The general tso good chicken was oh not so good. I don't know what kind of meat they used but it wasn't dark and definitely wasn't white meat. The tiger cry was chewy and sauce was terrible and the sauce for the shrimp sui Mai was sour not a sweet soy at all. I was excited the most for the duck bao bun and that was just eh. So.... IMO, I wouldn't order from here again. I'm Asian so I know what good Asian food is and this ain't it. read more

2nd time ordering from here and it was dissapointing; first time the food was alright. We ordered the gyoza and it was the only thing we finished out of what we ordered. The yakisoba noodles were dry and under seasoned, the duck was dry, and the vegetables were under seasoned & didn't look well prepared (chunks of cabbage and big segments of green onions). The bonito flakes on top didn't seem too fresh either, and the fish smell was a little overwhelming (the other time I ordered this it was prepared MUCH better). We regret giving the orange chicken a second chance - maybe comparable to what you'd find in the supermarket; have definitely had better. The only thing I'd consider ordering again from here would be the gyoza. read more

Writing my first ever Yelp review because I still can't get over the fact how LOVELY and welcoming all the staff at BITES was at our visit today. We went with our VERY friendly and active one year old who is just learning how to walk- not only that everyone was super accomodating to us, but everyone- from the receptionist, bartender to our waitress was absolutely lovely and took the time to pay attention to our little one and engage with him. Not to forget- The food was great, and the portions were big and beautifully laid out. The patio in the back looks like a perfect little getaway from the street noise. Obsessed with this place and so glad we spontaneously decided to try it after walking past it. 5/5 would recommend the taro fries, squid ink fried rice, and crab Rangoon. My boyfriend thought the khan burger was too oily but for me, I'd still rate it 5/5. Taro fries are super crunchy and served with a great mayo sauce. Crab Rangoon is crispy with just the right amount of zing. The real winner is the squid ink fried rice. Although it sounds and looks weird at first, it is truly phenomenal with the shrimp. Went with a friend to check this place out, we had a reservation since we didn't know how busy it would be on a Sunday. Walked in and the normal Covid measures were taken (mask, temperature reading,etc.). We were seated in a nice cool patio located in the back. Staff was very friendly and helpful. They have a pretty full menu of items, which to me kinda seemed like an Asian fusion menu. Nonetheless, I ordered some ramen, coconut shrimp, and a jasmine milk tea boba. The coconut shrimp was delicious and tasty. The ramen was very fulfilling and loaded with noodles, I didn't end up finishing since I got pretty full. Overall, good experience. I am not sure why this place has so many good reviews; I mean it is cheap-ish and in Lakeview, but the quality is not that great. The sushi, quite frankly, taste worse that the sushi you'd get from Jewel Osco. The bao bun was very 'bready' and hard to eat. My husband ordered the crispy basil chicken, it was NOT crispy at all and way way too spicy, and he has a hiiiiiiiigh spice tolerance. The menu does not warn you about the spice level at all. Really cool interior and the food items themselves were tasty, but the service could have been better. Ordered the Green Curry Ramen, Singapore Noodles, and the Korean Sliders. The ramen was no doubt super delicious, but there was no trace of Green Curry what so ever. I was expecting this creamy and rich green curry with ramen noodles and toppings but was met with what seemed to be a Tonkotsu style ramen. The Singapore noodles were just as expected and tasted like what I have had before. The yellow curry flavor was strong, which I liked, and the meat and noodle ratio was good. The Korean Sliders were very good and made me want to try the other small bites on the menu. By poor service, I do mean that the servers were not as attentive as they could have been. We had to flag down our server to put in our orders and to pay for our meal. Our food was also served where my boyfriend reviewed his dish first, then mine after a while and then the sliders last. read more
