BITTY & BEAU'S melted my heart with a warm peppermint bark latte over the holidays. Is it even possible to give this place less than 5 stars? The coffee was just average to me. Nothing special. But what was special was the mission behind each cup of coffee made. From their website, "Bitty & Beau's Coffee is a human rights movement disguised as a coffee shop, where people with intellectual & developmental disabilities are valued in the workplace. It's a place where diversity isn't just appreciated, it's celebrated. Bitty & Beau's Coffee proudly employs 400+ individuals with disabilities nationwide." I loved it! Every worker offered me sweet smiles and friendly service - as a result, the coffee tasted that much better!

Awesome concept. As a special needs therapist, I love to see things like this. The lady taking our orders was sweet and professional, and the coffee was pretty good too. I enjoyed browsing the merch section they had- super cute tshirts & hats that I can wear at work.

Definitely support their goal and the employees were so nice so I know it is not their fault and are doing what they're told. This is for the owners, I don't support the inability to fill the cup when asking for light ice. I think the employees should be trained to fill the cup even with light ice with at least milk or something. It was just not filled enough at all.

I believe people should reframe their expectations when they come to this coffee shop. It is not your regular coffee shop that you should expect that the Barista to be expert in coffee making. With that said, nothing takes away making this coffee shop extra special. If one pays attention to the mission of the enterprise (not its slogan) and see who the front staff are, you would appreciate what they have accomplished. The staff are very polite and friendly especially Dee Dee. Dee Dee would simply amaze you with her superb customer service attitude and the warmest personality. She is readily available to assist any customers even if it is beyond her duties and tasks. She knows how to engage customers and give them sincere compliments. She has taken her training to her heart. She remembers her line very well when greeting customers as they enter and even encourages customers to leave a review when they go. The food is what you would expect in a coffee shop. We had the muffin and sausage-egg-cheese croissant sandwich with coffee and peppermint tea. If you are staying in the French Quarter, prices of food are expensive. Prices in this coffee shop is reasonable. [[HIGHLIGHT]]We dined in and there was enough comfortable seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plus, it is entertaining to see how Dee Dee was interacting with the guests and how she makes guests smile with her compliments. The staff are not regular employees. They would be the least to be hired by Starbucks or any other companies. With proper training and loving patience for them to be up to speed in service, the staff are one of the best in delivering amazing service while giving their all. They don't give you dirty looks or nasty complaints for not getting a big tip BUT they sure deserve a hefty tip with their silent hard work that people take for granted given their abilities. So if you are in the French Quarter of Charleston SC, drop by Bitty & Beau's coffee. You're not just taking a cup of coffee; you would be surprised that you may be leaving with a smile if you get to chance Dee Dee.

Great recommendation from the lady working the front desk at our hotel. When I walked in I immediately remembered a reel I had seen on Instagram a while back about Bitty and Beau's and how this coffee shop came to be. As an educator myself, I have a soft spot for special needs. I was elated to be able to visit this amazing shop and receive the best service and coffee! Thank you to the helpful lady taking my order. I told her I usually order cold brew, but nothing too sweet. She suggested a s'mores type cold brew. It was delicious. I would definitely return again! I see there's a Bitty & Beau's in Waco. I'll be in Waco in a couple of weeks and plan to make a pit stop at that location!

Charming coffee place that has a great message and better cause. Friendly staff and excellent drink. Our party got an iced cappuccino, a frappe and a smoothie and we were all happy. Nice little gift shop to help support their cause.

This is some of the best coffee I've ever had, at a place that has some of the best baristas and employees I've ever encountered. More places like Bitty & Beau's should exist - a place with a solid mission statement, exceptional customer service, and phenomenal customer service. We had the pleasure of encountering Christian every day at the register and he was friendly and professional - our only bummer was that New Jersey was totally covered up on the map so we couldn't put a pin up! :) Seriously - incredible doesn't do justice to how phenomenal this place is - we came here every single day during our stay in Charleston, and can't wait to be back! read more

The cafe culture in Charleston is addicting to get into but worth every second. Walking in the area of King Street and we ran into this place for a drink to get us through the day. The selection seemed pretty simple so I just opted for an iced mocha. The coffee came out super fast so I was immediately able to have a taste. It was delicious and tasted like pure coffee. The inside of the restaurant is honestly pretty small so it's not much of a cafe to hang out at for long. The staff seemed kind but I didn't get to interact with them much. All in all, this is a decent coffee joint and although it's not my favorite I have had in Charleston, it's still worth a visit. read more

Hate to write this review given the company's mission, but both service & latte was horrible. Bitter espresso, no roast flavor, could not drink it & walked back down the street to another coffeehouse to get a replacement. Ordered an iced latte with lots of extra ice and after specifically asking if there were cup sizes and being told "no only one sized iced latte" was then given a larger cup than my husbands to accompany the extra ice (without being asked if that was what I wanted). Ehhhhh FUMBLE. The reason I ask is bc I want more ice / less milk ratio in my latte. Had to ask them to remake which is never what I want to do. Husband and teenage son both agreed that the espresso flavor was non drinkable. read more

I love the idea of this little spot. The shop is super cute and clean, the workers there are super sweet and amazing. They employ specifically people disabilities. It's very near and dear to my heart - I decided to buy a t-shirt as well. The greeter at the door was very helpful and helped to snap a photo of the bridal party that was in there. I snapped a photo of them getting their photo taken because I thought it was a really sweet moment. Did I mention their coffee is good too? Wanted coffee on a Thursday morning and dropped in. Luckily the line was short. I got a cold brew with marshmallow syrup. The syrup was a little sweet for me (maybe too much) but it was overall good. Love their business model as well! Worth trying out! read more

A coffee shop with a purpose that I can get behind. Flavorful fun coffee with heart and I loved it. I enjoyed my iced brown sugar cinnamon latte and my husband loved his cookies and cream frappe. Service was prompt and orders were correct. It's important you know going into Bitty and Beau's that it is run by people who have intellectual disabilities, so kindness and understanding goes a long way. Bitty & Beau's is a coffee shop in downtown Charleston SC. It usually has a line out the door and around the corner. Our timing was good, because there was no line. The shop is clean with and smells like coffee when you walk in. It has good coffee, but the main thing that sets Bitty & Beau's apart is the way they manage their business. Their website says, "Bitty & Beau's Coffee is more than just a place to grab a cup of coffee - it's an experience. While the shop is run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the customers love the products, they really come in for the unique customer service experience." We agreed with that statement. The experience was great. As you wait in line, you walk through some promotional merchandise including shirts, coffee cups, playing cards and others. When you place your order, they give you a playing card which is what they call out when your order is ready. The coffee was really good too. Overall, I give Bitty & Beau's an 8/10. read more

Only stopped in as it was the meeting place for a tour, which I thought was a brilliant idea!! I didn't have any idea what the mission was or who I may be working with on the other side of the counter until the young lady started chatting me away. I knew instantly this was a special place. I had a fun loving conversation with the staff even got a hug that doesn't happen every day from yourbarista. A clean, well decorated, friendly shop with pretty darn good coffee and an assortment of muffins, bagels, and other emblematic companions to your morning cup 'o Joe. What a cute little coffee shop and the people in it are the best! Walking in... all the smells... but the best part was the friendly customer service and the smiles that greet you as you walk in. I love their mission. Little background on the coffee shop, the shop is run by people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The cashier took her time and told us about the business and she was excited to tell us all about it. Aside from their customer... top notch coffee as well!! Great coffee and a great ambiance! I especially love their mission of employing people with intellectual and developmental disabilities - The shop was originally opened in Wilmington North Carolina by a woman who wanted to celebrate her sons down syndrome and empower him to engage with the world in a way that was positive and constructive. Now, they have four locations across the eastern seaboard, and have been on franchising! I got the brown sugar cinnamon cappuccino upon on the recommendation of Christian (the cashier), and it was such a perfect option for a rainy day in downtown Charleston! One thing to be aware of is that, as the shop is run by people with disabilities, you should exercise patience and kindness with the workers. Service was fast for drip coffee, but coffee was no better than McDonald's. Bitty and Beaus wants to sell you BNB branded merchandise rather than serve you great coffee. This is not a place where you want to linger and work on your laptop. There's very little inside seating, and it's mostly for people waiting. Merchandise area of the store takes up 2/3 of the customer area, that says it all. Maybe at one time they were good, but now they're an overly commercialized merchandise store that just happens to sell coffee while you browse. Not recommended. read more

We wandered in for a cup of coffee after an early flight. What a welcoming atmosphere! The coffee was great, but the interactions with staff members was the best part. If you go during the holidays be sure to pick up a crushed candy cane rice Kristy treat! We returned again before leaving town to buy a tshirt. "Radically inclusive" is a terrific slogan. read more

I happened to stumble upon Bitty & Beau's yesterday and had to explore enjoying one more coffee. Located right across from Tommy Condon's Irish pub, a great location. What a beautiful concept here. The coffee shop is a great size with merchandise and beautiful decor. The staff are eager to please, helpful and the coffee is great. I am so glad I finally got to try Bitty & Beau's. It's just a great idea and should be supported 100% which I'm sure when people realize the concept it will be. The coffee is ok and the pastries great. The reason for the five stars is the concept, which is very well deserved. So if you are downtown definitely pop in and support this mom and pop coffee shop. They have done a wonderful job here. read more

What a great coffee shop! The iced lattes and frozen frappes are both so delicious. Everything is fresh in the shop and it smelled so good. The service was wonderful! Everyone was very polite and helpful from beginning to end. They provide you with a playing card as your "number" for when your order is ready. Currently during Covid, they are having guests throw them away after to prevent more germs staying in the shop. They only accept cards or apple/Android pay, so keep that in mind- no cash. read more

Some may probably have saw a report of this cafe on TV. First, their coffees and pastries are AMAZING. They offer a variety of coffee including filtered coffee, espresso, latte,etc. The coffee is smooth and the latte has just enough of milk and foam. The decor is sleek and lots of nice merchandise available. Other than their delicious brew, what makes it even more interesting is that this place is staffed by people with Disability. The staff is so dedicated and comes to check if we liked the food and drinks. It just made my day that we can promote an inclusive community by providing a financially sustainable business while giving people with disability the opportunity to be independent. Job well done!!! read more

I was excited to try this place because of the good reviews and wide selection of pastries, but I sadly don't think I'll be back after this experience.

The s'mores cake was a chocolate cake with mini marshmallows, chocolate fudge, graham crackers, and more marshmallows. The cake was good and had everything I could ever want in it, but it was a little dry. I think this also had to do with it being the end of the night. The ice cream complemented the flavor well. It would have been better with a second scoop of ice cream though. Service was great! It took about 10 minutes from when we ordered to get our dessert. I would probably come back here again, but not so late at night so there would be fresher cake with more options available.
