I feel so lucky to live on Johns island. When we first moved here five years ago. There was only one coffee shop. Now there's quite a few. Gold Star is by far my favorite to go to regularly. The coffee is consistent. Everyone that works there is such a pleasure. It's female owned and run. There's an amazing family who own and take good care of it. It's a community place where people really can enjoy working and gathering at. Plenty of spaces to sit. The decor and atmosphere are warm and welcoming and they have plenty of goodies for the kiddos. It's the perfect place to have a parent's day out with your kids or friends. The egg and black bean burrito is my favorite thing to eat here, i always get an iced latte but sometimes venture out to the smoothies! Ever since moving to Charleston, I have been looking far and wide for a good coffee shop. There's been a few that were okay, but this place is by far the best in the entire tri-county region of Charleston. Good drinks. Good food. GREAT service (Rachel is the best). Plenty of tables and seats at the bar. I love the ambiance and the interior design. I love all the knick-knacks you can buy that serve as the perfect gifts. Great little coffee shop love the smoothie with the coffee. They sell Girl Next Dough pastries here, and the honey bun is phenomenal.

The coffee lives up to its name, Gold star! The staff, coffee, muffin and atmosphere A+ Highly recommend!

This place has amazing coffee. But let me tell you if you go in during a rush, and order an iced coffee they will make nine hot coffees ( that were ordered after you) because it's easier. And you'll have to wait an extra 10 minutes just to get your coffee because of what you ordered. By the way, it was just an iced latte. It's not like it was a Frappuccino or macchiato. If you guys wanna keep your customers, I would make the coffee is in the order they are ordered. Making hot ones before an iced one just because it's easier and wasting someone's time is not OK. read more

I had the iced coffee with pumpkin spice. It was good; there is nothing special about iced coffee. It is hard to mess up lol. There coffee has a mellow/mild taste which was smooth. The decor of the place was cute, and the staff were friendly. There aren't many options for hot food, but if you want a pastry and coffee, you should drop in. They also have board games, which I thought was neat. There is plenty of seating, too. read more

I have gotten coffee and pastries here many times and am always so happy with my coffee. So many choice from cold brew to nitro to Americana and latte/mocha/cappuccino and espresso. Really good beans which is why even when I get the drip, it's hands down so good! Today I got pastries that were so good! (I shared and did not eat all three myself). I love this place. I am new to the area and found this place on Yelp. The first time I visited, I ordered a small decaf latte served hot with whole milk. It was way less than Starbucks (thank you). I loved how hot it was and that the beans don't taste burnt or bitter. Fast forward to today. I ordered a large decaf latte along with a warm ham & cheese croissant and the breakfast wrap with bacon. Ya'll. This latte is seriously unmatched. So so so good. If I lived closer I'd be here alll the time. I complimented the owner on the latte and she said the beans they use are from a local roaster right here in Charleston The ham and cheese croissant was delicious and filling. The breakfast wrap with bacon, eggs and cheese was served hot. I personally like my bacon crispy. The bacon in this wrap was not crispy so I would not order this item again. The store is so cute inside and I appreciate the music is not too loud. You'll see some people working, some friends catching up and some customers stop in after a workout. It's a lovely shop. We love Gold Star! Stumbled upon this cute gem as its close to my gym. The inside is so cute and has plenty of space if you wanted to post up and work or catch up with a friend. 4 star rating is only bc they def are still figuring things out! Sometimes I go and order a drink to go and it's ready quickly. Other times it takes 5-10min solely bc someone forgets. Not a big deal overall! First timer..., I asked for their Cold Brew and an Americana coffee. The coffee is the perfect 'hot' temperature. Then I spotted their menu stating they have breakfast sandwiches. I asked for two Bacon, Egg and Cheese. They came as a wrap. I loved it! She also sells bean coffee, I had to grab a bag for myself. Thrilled to have this wonderful coffee shop here on Johns Island.
