Also shot outs to Rosa the hygienist for her passionate care and informative session on dental health. Location The office is located off Atlantic in the quaint Bixby Knolls neighborhood in Long Beach. Services They offer traditional dental services, deep cleaning etc as well as ortho care. They offer invisalign! Which I might opt to do in the near future Patient Experience The staff is friendly, professional, and walked me through each step to ensure I was informed. I called that morning and was quickly greeted over the phone. Before doing the operation, logistics were discussed and I was well Informed what I'd sign for. Transparency is gold in my books. Facility They have state of the art equipment and are even able to make a crown on the spot ! The cool part is you can see an easy to see 3-d image of a before and after of your teeth cleaning. You'll get that visual satisfaction of visiting the dental office after. They're very hospitable and offer water while waiting Accessibility Street parking is available! Easy to find. Walking down the street is nice either way. They may possibly be parking in the back alley. Pricing and Insurance I'm under Delta PPO which is accepted there. Dr B left and it's just not the same. We won't be back. The office experience was good until this incident. I was charged for a night guard when I already had one. I didn't need or approve this, then when I wanted my $ back, I had to sign a waiver saying they weren't responsible for the work they did because I wouldn't bring my night guard in to prove that I had one and that it worked. The one I have is clearly in my records and why do I need to prove it on my time? The mistake wasn't mine and I was treated like ish because of it. So, my husband HATES the dentist and I've been trying to find a dental office that he can be comfortable with.. and after 10 years (we've been married for 14) I finally found it in Bixby Knolls Dental! Both of us are patients there. And my sweet husband LOVES them. Bixby Knolls Dental is super professional, if they have to numb you, you can barely feel the prick of the needle!! No fumbling, bumbling hands here! Everything looks choreographed from the opening of the sanitized tools, to performing surgery inside of my mouth. Each hand knows exactly what to do. There is also no frivolous banter-- all of the conversation is on the work itself. Today, I was soo comfortable, I almost fell asleep in the chair while they were doing a filling!! Dr. Bischoff is my favorite Dentist. I used to go to a place in Palos Verdes but that dentist retired and I wasn't a big fan of his replacement. I tried a new dentist in Lakewood but the root canal he completed on me wasn't correct. I had pain for a year and they told me it was perfectly normal. I came to see Dr. Bischoff because I knew something wasn't right. She did an xray and showed me how the tooth that was replaced had a gap (hence the sensitivity). The other tooth that i had filled in because of a cavity also wasn't right. I called the Lakewood dentist to let them know and they repaid me my money and some and I was able to come here for a new procedure. I have one of the worst gag reflexes and crazy anxiety when I show up at the dental office. Dr. Bischoff was SUPER patient with me and because of that I will keep coming. They really put me at ease and understood how uncomfortable I became while sitting in the dental chair. They took their time, comforted me and the dental work was great. I avidly avoided the dentist for far too long and finally came here in Nov. I was so worried about being shamed, etc, but everyone was friendly and professional. As expected, I had a variety of issues to correct. I was given a clear plan and cost after insurance, and that was held to. I want to make a point to give thanks to the new hygienist, Nicole. She is so kind and was so much more gentle on my cleaning than what I previously experienced (my husband also saw her and felt the same). She even told dental dad jokes to liven things up. When I objected, because they hygienist was going to change my treatment on the second visit, without discussing it with me, she lied about the previous discussion from the first visit. I have been waiting for my appointment, because I have been having pain in my mouth and they called me a day before my appointment to tell me the Doctor had to cancel my appointment because he has a meeting, why would they schedule me 1 month ago on this date if doctor had a meeting? It's a money grab for sure. If you have limited insurance they won't even get back to you with a quote. I've reached out several times though email and phone yet no one can bother getting back to me with a treatment plan. The only dental office I have ever felt comfortable going to. The dental hygienist, Cindy is amazing. Overall, all the staff are really good. Sadly, what i thought was a great office i have come to find out, isn't. I recently switched offices (due to moving) and found out that I had a lot of work that was missed. The new doctor I saw was shocked to hear that I had been going to the dentist every 6 months because she thought I had not gone in years because of how much work I needed. While going the Bixby knolls I didn't have x-rays done yearly which is probably why it was missed. Very upset, something that could have maybe been a filling($75) is now a crown ($1,000). read more

Well ive been with BK for a while now and i drive all the way down from Fullerton (45min drive) just to come see them because there definitely worth. I would drive further if needed. The Dental Hygienist on July 6th took issue when I asked questions about my treatment for the day. She went back and forth with me, with much attitude. She seemed so disgusted by the condition of my teeth and gums. Dental shaming me, speaking to me as though I was a child. The previous hygienist was much more customer friendly and stopped short of shaming and simply offered professional encouragement. Not sure I will return because of how unpleasant she was. The Secretary had to step in and let her know we can do the x-rays next time. I honestly felt like she dug particularly hard when cleaning my teeth. read more

I cant give 0 stars what a shame. After taking an hour to take x-rays of my teeth. Then patiently waiting 30 minutes for a dr to give me a teeth cleaning. I was sold a 180$ "full mouth debrediment" which is supposed to be a deeper clean took the Dr. 5 minutes and his new dental assistant another 5 minutes. My teeth are still not clean. Will not be returning and will do everything possible to show that this is a horrible excuse for a dental office. 0 stars. 0 effort. No floss. No spit cup. No water to rinse. I totally felt like they were just trying to get $$ from me. The cleaning they did was terrible. The dental assistant didn't even floss my teeth when doing my cleaning. When I came back for a second appointment, I saw a different dentist and she literally asked me "What are we doing??" Umm YOUR the dentist, shouldn't you know what you are about to do in my mouth?! I was referred to Bixby Dental from my dentist because I needed an Implant. He told me that Dr Moshrefi was the best in the industry and an affordable solution. After having my work completed by him I a definitely agree with his recommendation. I'm a big chicken when it comes to people putting sharp objects in my mouth. So I let him know before hand that I don't think I could have him do the procedure with me being awake. They suggested the best option was to be sedated (I think that's the correct terminology). The office staff are beyond nice they really made me feel completely safe. One of the girls in the front actually has same fears as me and was completely understanding. She told me that sedation is the best option and I won't even remember a thing. Well she was exactly right, it was truly amazing. If only I knew about this years ago imagine how many crappy situations I couldve avoided. Decor of the office is very nice also, modern design aspects. I used to take design courses so I have a great respect for clean lines and usage of modern furniture. Some people consider it to make a place look cold and not inviting, but the way they did the design no one could ever say a negative thing. This dental office is the worst experience I have had. The dentist has little to say about the condition of your teeth and gums, and the hygienist is untrained and sprayes polish all over your face and upper body. They also do not cater to children, and would rather have your child not get any dental services than provide it themselves, and charge your insurance for an "attempt", which is complete fraud. My experience at this dentist has been, so far, has been very positive! I've only started visiting this dental group around summer of 2011 and already have done allot of work. The cost of invisalign is cheaper then some places I've inquired about. The staff is very warm and friendly and I'm kindly reminded of appointments. Mind you, if you have neglected your teeth for too long like I have, just be prepared for the bill... I've gotten allot of work done here and each visit was very pleasant and only stayed an hour for certain procedures, at most. The price is pretty steep but I knew that coming in. I've neglected my teeth for long while. My dental insurance only pays a fraction so the rest had to be out of pocket. I went in knowing that I would need to pay allot due to my neglect. Though, the price is scary... I owed it to my teeth. I took the opportunity as a way of renewing myself. :) Some peoples experiences may differ and so far I've been treated fairly and kindly. I found Bixby Knolls dental group through my dental insurance network and I am very happy with my choice, Dr. Hatem is the best! I get a little nervous when it comes to drilling inside of my mouth...and Dr. Hatem is exactly the type of dentist you would want. He's calm and easy going, and did an excellent job on my filling. No sensitivity or pain at all during or after the filling (which was very deep). The front office was friendly and they had good schedule flexibility which is nice for people who work full time. They took the time to look over the estimated bill with me before any work was performed (what the insurance covers etc.), and after the work was performed there were no surprises. Lastly, the office is up to day with high end equipment, which is another reassuring sign you are in good hands. I'm a "sorta new" patient here. And by sorta, I use to come here when I was a child, about 19 years ago. They had great service before and STILL do. Great customer service, nice receptionist and the Dr. is a pretty solid guy. No gimmicks and just gets the job done. They actually came through for me. They fit me in earlier so that I wouldn't be late to a social gathering. Basically, saved my derriere. Kudos. The only downside is that this is street parking and that is always interesting if you have an appointment in the afternoon. Not a big deal. All I can say is wonderful!!! I hate dentists BUT Dr. Rogers was not only one of the friendliest doctors I've met but she was able to answer all of my concerns. Couple that with a beautiful office, friendly staff and being able to select your own music...it was an excellent experience. Shout out to the staff! I recently knocked out a piece of my filling and went to Bixby Knolls to get all fixed up. I don't have a fear of the dentist really, but I do have an irrational fear of shots. And when I found out I needed one this morning, it freaked me out. But Dr. Abdelhadi was so cool about it. I barely felt it and the whole process was really relaxing as far as the dentist goes. I kid you not, I was just at Bixby Knolls Dental Group about an hour ago for a cleaning and check-up for the first time at that office, and my whole overall experience was fantastic. I came in at 9am, filled out some paperwork and got into a room in less than 5 minutes. Suzette did my xrays and she always made sure that I was comfortable. Dr. Hatem examined my teeth, I had two cavities.... I know, bad, but not too bad. He was so nice, when I was able to talk, we had good communication and he definitely let me know every step of the process as far as my check up was going. I also requested for my permanent retainers to be removed, and they were happy to acquiesce; I've had them in for 10 years, so I was happy to see them go. Before any procedure could be done, Brenda the office manager came in to speak to me about pricing for all of the procedures I would be getting done. I never felt any pressure as far as HAVING to get procedures done on my teeth, she did let me know what was covered under my insurance and what it would all cost. I am a firm believer in keeping your teeth nice and clean and healthy, so the amount of money wasn't too much of a worry for me. They take all major credit cards, so that definitely helps. So then, Dr. Hatem first took care of my cavities, then went straight on to remove the permanent retainers. After those were removed, he went on to deep clean my teeth. Then Ashley performed the teeth polishing, she too was quite nice. We spoke as she was preparing the instruments and she said she was new there, but had worked in other offices before. After my polishing, Dr. Hatem and Ashley proceeded to take molds of my teeth for the clear retainers I would use daily since my permanent retainers were removed. Throughout the super uncomfortable experience (there's a lot of gummy, plastic in your mouth, not uncomfortable because of Ashley, just the nature of the procedure) Ashley made sure that the pressure on my mouth and teeth weren't too bad. The whole visit was about three hours, I'm sure if I didn't have cavities or wanted my retainers removed it would have been a lot faster. But I was very impressed that they were on top of everything that needed to be done for my teeth and the efficiency of the process they went through to complete the tasks. The staff and Dr. Hatem were very easy to talk to, I cracked jokes because that's what I do and laughs were shared. I've already told my best friend about this place and she hasn't been to the dentist in like 10 years. Good luck to them with her! Any way, 10 out of 10, I'd recommend them to everyone. ALSO! They let me take selfies, you can see them in the added pictures. Oh yeah, and Dr. Hatem is a lefty, which a super plus because lefties are my favorite, my son is one! And it's probably a lot easier for the assistant to be on the other side, because they are right handed... i don't know, just a thought. read more

I honestly felt like they moved a little slow. The environment was calm and collective but maybe a little to quiet. It didn't feel family oriented, what I mean by that is it didn't feel like the staff got along or interacted with one an other. I get it what has to be done must be done but I like feeling like I'm walking into a friend's house or something. Overall its a mediocre office. Just an other office you visit for your routine cleaning and whatever else they throw at you. Its not a bad experience noe an excellent one. (I'm sure working there must get boring) To close with, I would recommend this office to anyone but if you were a close friend or family I wouldn't. The previous reviewers are totally correct! If you have an option for a dental practice, opt to go elsewhere. You'll most likely recieve better customer service, accurate pricing & more convienient office/doctor hours! I've had the same experience as another poster, and recieved a service quote WAY higher than what my insurance schedule reads. I called my insurance company after getting the quote from the staff & verified that the office was, indeed, trying to 'hose' me and charge twice as much as they should. The look on the staff members face when I confronted her with the accurate pricing was priceless. It was like she was surprised that her bullshit actually caught up with her! Like she does it all the time and NO ONE has ever questioned it... This really is hurting for cash; save yours and please go somewhere else!
