Bacon cheese fries and lemon pepper wings

The ambiance was very cozy and welcoming. The atmosphere matched the southern hospitality I received even though I only went in for a pickup order. The food was amazing and still fresh after the drive back to the hotel. I got the mild tenders and they are good for spice beginners! The lemon pepper wings didn't disappoint either!

food was amazing! the service was good and the ambiance was cool too. would go again and invite friends!

    3 tender meal.

Cashier was very helpful as this was our first time in Tennessee and were starving after long flight. My son got the mild tenders with Mac and cheese and loved the subtle heat on the chicken, and surprisingly the cheesiness of the m&c. I went with the second spiciest tenders (capsaicin) and it was right at the right spice for me. Slow building and intense heat with lightly battered and tender meat, nothing else you can ask for. The coleslaw perfectly complimented the spicy chicken. Would definitely come back when in the area.

3 tenders and fries! The #1

I visited BJ Hot chicken for lunch on a weekday. I was looking for a Hot Chicken spot without a long line but great HOT chicken. This place fit the bill. BJ Hot Chicken is in a small strip center a little ways out of town away from all of the touristy spots. I was able to easily park, walk in and order with no line at lunch time. I ordered the #1, three chicken tenders with one side. I got a side of fries. They asked how hot and I said "hot". The chicken came out hot but I can handle some spice. My mouth was burning for a good hour but in a good way! The fries needed to cook a bit more so I didn't really eat those. I love a good fry but hate a soggy undercooked one. I enjoyed the experience, the chicken and the service. Not the fries. BJ's is super clean, the staff was constantly cleaning the tables and floors!

I'm torn between a one and two star for this place!!! Googled Nashville hot chicken and maps took us to 300 Degrees at the airport (it was a safety facility). Then I navigated the BF and I to Puckett's but it was at the airport lol. We wound up at BJ's. I ordered a salad with medium hot chicken and he ordered a hot chicken sammy. My salad had great greens and veggies but the chicken was awful and the dressing was a packet of Hidden Valley Ranch (yuck)! The chicken tenders seasoning was peppery and not really hot. The bf's sammy was just ok. Unsweet tea (and sweet tea) were out of a machine, which makes me wonder if anything is actually made here!!! Two stars cuz the staff (except for the rude cashier) were nice and the veggies on the salad were fresh and green :))

I ordered my meal through DoorDash so my comments will be limited to the food's taste, appearance and ease of eating. I heard the buzz about Tennessee hot chicken and hot catfish. Up until this experience, I have never tasted fried catfish. Bucket list item now checked. BJ Hot Chicken does not do small portions of catfish for their sandwich. There is plenty of fixings and sauces to enhance the flavor. The crunch on then exterior with a nice flaky interior was a delight. The only complaint I had was they put everything on top of the bread, so when I attempted to make a sandwich out of it, the bread just fell apart so I had to eat everything individually. I would order it again though because I love it. The hot chicken sandwich was not what I expected. I expected a single piece of fried boneless chicken smothered in the sauce, but instead the batter they use has the heat in it and I got two smaller pieces. This may be their intention, but it caught me off guard. The flavor was good. These guys know how to fry foods. The potato salad was tasty, but lacked seasoning. I believe they make their pickles in house, and if so, bravo to the quality and flavor they had. I would order from BJ Hot Chicken again if I find myself in Nashville.

Absolutely the tastiest, crispiest chicken with a perfect amount of heat. Got the medium and it had so much flavor!

Chicken 3 Tenders and 1 Side I chose potato salad it was yummy.

Ah BJ. How I've missed you. I've been coming to BJ Hot Chicken since they opened. I was fortunate enough I work just a few miles down the road; so I would take almost weekly excursions down to get my hot chicken fix. But now I work from him exclusively until further motice, so I rarely get to visit anymore. One of my favorite things to eat is fried chicken and well... Since I live in Nashville, the conversion from fried chicken to hot chicken is a no brainer. Since I moved to Tennessee, I've been to all the popular hot chicken joints. Prince's, Bolton's, Hattie B's, Party Fowl, etc. Many have come and gone but the formula is simple. Make good fried chicken as your base and you can turn any fried chicken into hot chicken. BJ is as good as it gets. Fresh fried chicken that's cooked to order. It's got great flavor, the skin is crispy, and the meat is juicy. My *only* complaint is the heat levels are inconsistent. I love spicy food but for whatever reason in my older age, spicy food doesn't agree with me as much as it used to. So if I have nothing planned the next day, I'll order a spicier level. Sometimes mild is a little hot. Sometimes hot is a little mild. It might be my taste buds or maybe they screwed up in the kitchen... I don't know for sure. Regardless it's good. Of the sides, the best one in my opinion is the collard greens (which may not be everyone's cup of tea) but it's some of the best I've had. It's strangely savory, which makes me wonder if it's truly vegetarian or if it has some kind of meat/broth in it. I swap between the mac 'n cheese and fries sometimes, but usually get another side of collard greens because I'm already eating something fried, so I know another fried side is not good for me. If you are craving hot chicken and you don't want to wait in a line or pay exorbitant prices, give BJ a try. You won't be disappointed.

Just driving through Nashville and wanted to get some Nashville Hot Chicken. BJ Hot Chicken is right off the freeway and was easy to find. I would say some of the best chicken strips I have ever had and my side of greens were tasty. I got the medium level spice level which was perfect for me. There are several tables inside, but they also have a nice little outside area for outdoor dining.

Greasy soggy chicken with hairs still on it.

Today was my second time coming to BJ's. The first time was awesome. The food was hot and fresh. I decided to go back again today, and I was very disappointed. The fries were greasy and soggy, and the chicken was too, and the chicken had hairs still on it, plus It was definitely not made fresh to order. I probably will not be back, this was a huge turn off.

Really good food. Easy access from the airport and the highway. Not particularly fast or friendly service.

Kind of on the fence about recommending this place... the people were really nice and service was fast but I've had better spicy or Nashville Hot chicken sandwiches... I enjoy home style Mac n cheese and asked before ordering if it was velveeta or real cheese. The lady said kind of in the middle... again she was nice about it but it's velveeta... probably should have gone with the fries... drinks are self serve so nice to make my own Arnold Palmer :-)

Unfortunately, while the food was visually appealing, the quality did not match the presentation. The women serving upfront were ok. I ordered the fried pork chop with turnip greens, mac and cheese, dressing, and a cornbread muffin. The pork chop was heavily battered and overwhelmingly salty, with little flavor beyond salt. The mac and cheese tasted artificial, as though processed cheese was used. The turnip greens were tender but lacked seasoning and tasted as if they had simply been boiled in water. The cornbread muffin was dry, hard, and bland. The dressing was also very disappointing and lacked flavor. Overall, the meal was extremely underwhelming and not representative of good home-style cooking. I was disappointed with both the quality and taste of the food, especially considering the restaurant's branding. After only a few bites, I discarded the meal entirely. Based on this experience, I would not return or recommend this restaurant. In my heart of hearts, this place gets zero stars...however, I believe that I have to give at least one star.

He and his frat came here all the time and even knew the original owners, who were welcoming and provided good customer service. Now that it's been under new management for several years, I wanted to check it out for myself and see if it still had the same energy and vibe he described. I usually order the whiting sandwich with everything, and it never disappoints. The fish is always hot, well-breaded, and nicely seasoned. You can order it crispy or regular--just let them know at the beginning when placing your order. The portion sizes are generous. I typically get mine with onions, cheese, hot sauce, mustard, and pickles. If you want extras, there's a small up charge, and if you'd like other fixings, just ask--they're accommodating. I'm not a picky eater and like everything on my sandwich--I love all the flavors bursting at the seams and complementing one another. You pay at the window once you're in line. It's primarily a drive-thru setup, though you can walk in if you prefer. Typically, someone will take your order as you drive up. Lines are usually packed, especially on weekends, but in my opinion, they have great hours. Just be prepared to wait in your car for a bit--though they move things along efficiently and keep the drive-thru line moving. It's a true no-frills neighborhood spot in a community with deep roots, and I'm sure it brings back memories for many who attended college in the area or grew up nearby. It's also well-known enough that out-of-towners make a point to stop by for a sandwich or dinner. Pro tip: Check their hours and take a quick look at the menu ahead of time so you're ready to order when you pull up!
