a basket of fried chicken and french fries
Mary Ann G.

I have ordered from here multiple times now and it is one of the most consistently good restaurants. I always get lemon pepper chicken tenders and they are always hot and Crispy and well seasoned. I also love the fries, Cole slaw, and onion rings. The portions and big and definitely worth the money.

I got my order, and actually had to go back to make sure I ordered correctly. My chicken was not hot or screaming hot. It was just fried. The coleslaw was good as well as the fries and fruit tea.

Walls dusty!!

This place was a huge disappointment! First we had to wait 30 minutes get our food due to only 1 person working! The customer service is not pleasant at all. The food isn't real hot chicken. I ordered the hot level and it taste like less than mild... not the cleanest place either. Air was not working and the tables were sticky. Asked the worker for a damp towel to wipe table off, he said they didn't have one!!!! I certainly won't be back...

this place is so dan7 ! youve gotta order the tricky ricky jin jin, no doubt about it. GER. love far7ing out my 455 especially when it smells like shi7. this chicken is so awesome it will make your 8U77 spit 455 flames. love

Food was hot and made fresh! It is a bit of a wait for your food but again, it's made fresh. Big portions would eat here again.

After about 15 trips to Nashville, my wife and I have developed a routine…read more Get to town. Drop off the bags. Head to The Stillery. It's usually our first dinner stop every single trip. This time, we switched things up and hit it for lunch instead. Good call. We grabbed seats at the bar, where Todd was holding down the fort. The guy was outstanding. Drinks never sat empty, food came out smoothly, and he somehow managed to be attentive without hovering over us every five minutes asking if everything was okay. My wife started with the Nashville Margue, which goes down way too easy for something packing moonshine. Light, refreshing, and carrying enough kick to remind you you're in Tennessee. Then Todd introduced us to a Bloody Mary made with a new pickle-infused vodka. Now, that sounds like one of those ideas that should either be amazing or a complete disaster. Turns out it's amazing. My wife loved it so much she's already talking about coming back tomorrow for another one. For food, we started with the pretzels and beer cheese. Simple. Warm. Soft. Salty. Exactly what you want while settling into a Nashville afternoon. Nothing fancy, just done right. Then I went all in on the mac and cheese topped with Nashville hot chicken. Yee Haw. Creamy mac and cheese. Crispy chicken. That signature Nashville heat. Comfort food with a little attitude. Just the way it should be. The best thing about The Stillery is that it knows exactly what it is. Good food. Good drinks. Good people. No gimmicks. No trying too hard. Just a fun place to sit down, relax, and enjoy yourself. Fifteen trips to Nashville (together) and it's still one of our first stops. That's probably the strongest review I can give. Five stars.

The spot is in an old building in the middle of the entertainment district (Lower Broad area). It has a small outside seating area, for when it is not a sauna, Inside there is a nice sized bar, if you are just seeking a drink. They are known for their mac & cheese, which I have never tried in all of the times I have been to the Stillery. Very creamy, cheesy mac & cheese. The Nashville hot chicken has a nice spice to it. A bit mild for the serious hot chicken fans, but the flavor is there. The chicken tenders are fairly standard. And the crinkle fries are mid. I enjoyed both of the drinks. At $14.50, they are at least $1.50 less than the standard Broadway cocktails in the star bars, so iti s a less expensive option to get a drink. I don't think they ever have live music, unlike some others here, so you are going for the food, not the noise. Service was great, as always. The staff is always prompt and knows their menu. It is more bar food and the menu is limited, but what they do, they do well.

When in Nashville you need to have some hot chicken. What better than a little Hattie B's Hot…read moreChicken on Broadway! There's always going to be a line - get used to it! The food is always great! This time I tried their jumbo chicken wings meal with fries and some grits. The food is amazing! Chicken is juicy and tasty! The staff there are all friendly and helpful if you have questions. The dining area inside is usually busy and the small amount of outdoor seating is also usually packed! If you get to sit at the counter that faces the street, you can people watch . It was a great experience!

I remember around nine years ago when Nashville Hot Chicken was just taking off in…read moreCalifornia--before Dave's, before Clyde's, before even Hot Chicks--all I kept hearing was how great the original duo of Hattie B's and Prince's were. They kept saying that all the Johnny-come-lately hot chicken shops in the other parts of the country were just pale imitations. Even Howling Ray's with all its reputation was not as good as those two. And I have to say Hattie B's does stack up considerably well. The tenders were, er, tender and juicy and kind of fat. I wasn't expecting Dave's level or giant honking pieces. The fries were seasoned well. And the piece of bread was a good side in itself. But I think my favorite was the baked beans. I don't believe I've ever had baked beans with hot chicken before. Most hot chicken joints stop at the fries and bread. Man, if I could have baked beans this good with my chicken, I might even go all baked beans and no fries. Fries are never my favorite anyway. The beans were just the right of sweet and savory to be a key side. The service was fast but friendly, as befits a restaurant that has lines out the door and down the block. I've never seen a line that crazy at any food hall. That the crew manages to manage such a large throng of folks with a smile on their faces is a testament to their training and/or temperament. The ambiance is great. For such a crowded place and a smallish dining room, Hattie B's manages to make it look welcoming and not as packed as you would think it would be. I usually dislike communal tables especially when you want private conversation with your friend, but here it still feel relaxed and relatively private. I think this is a badass location to place a Hattie B's and next time I'm by the Assembly Food Hall for like a Ryman show or a game with the Preds, I'm coming right back for these tenders and those prime baked beans.

It's my last night in Nashville so I want to go to a bang zoom restaurant. A few of my co workers have said to me: Mr Bill, we see every night you're going out to some amazing spots. Mind if we tag along? Sure, the rules are to keep your fork outta my plate when we sit down. Deal? The restaurant is very large, we're shown to our table. Set in the middle of the dining room and facing the bar. The bar can seat at least 25 people, the restaurant is set up for fun. To get our party started, I ordered a well crafted cocktail: Tea'd Up Old Fashioned Made with Bourbon, Black Tea and House Barrel Aged Bitters. Funky?? Oh yeah I'm with a bunch of Military Veterans and they're telling me their crazy stories. I'm sippin' my Old Fashioned and taking it all in, we need to bond over drinks and crazy things we all drank overseas. As an adult, I can appreciate my Nashville TN Old Fashioned with Black Tea. While we're talking, our waitress drops off a plate of homemade biscuits. The biscuits are fire! Buttery, flakey and moist, The Southern Steak & Oyster can make a damn good biscuit. Next, my Gumbo comes to me. The first taste I can tell this is a chef'd up dish. Better than anything I had in New Orleans. This gumbo is filled with Andouille, Crawfish, Shrimp and Fried Okra. Very flavorful indeed. My last entree in Nashville will be Fish 'N Grits. Fresh fish topped with Spicy Tasso Ham over Sweet Potato Grits and Bacon Braised Cabbage. This is a flavorful dish, the grits are very creamy and the cook on the fish was spot on. We had a great night at The Southern Steak & Oyster, it was a pleasure to dine at your restaurant.

On one visit with only a few of us there our bartender disappeared for a good 20 minutes. Upon his return he was focused on everything but the 5 of us in the place until we finally had to ask to get service. The other visit everyone helped me but the actual server. Maybe this is a staffing problem, I don't know but being stuck for 20 minutes to order another drink with my meal is not acceptable. Although they had that check in my hand in under a minute and in under another minute to process. Again, super nicer people, but kind of oblivious. 2) Now let's talk about the kitchen. And I'm adding some input from the other diners because we all sat there waiting. - flavors are great, but the salt and spice level is overboard. I had the mushroom appetizer and nearly choked/coughed to death. I like heat but this was raw spice that overpowered the dish. And the salt about made my feet swell into balloons. Such a shame because the idea is great just poor execution - deviled eggs. Pass - BBQ Shrimp, sort of like the mushrooms right profile but overpowering - gumbo. Two other people had the gumbo and when I asked they said that too is just over spiced I want to like this place, but probably my last visit unless I just come for oysters. Sorry
