Came here to have dinner with a friend. When you walk in, there's a dining room to your right and a bar/high top sitting on the left. We just happened to go on Mardi Gras night with a live band! What a great time! The place was so alive and everyone was singing. We stood by the bar and listened to the live band for a while. Then, we went to the dining room side. I had the Mac and Cheese with a side of fries. The Mac and Cheese was so good, I really enjoyed it. The fries were a bit too salty so I didn't finish them. My friend had the Cubano with a side of fries which she loved. I loved the vibe, the food and the staff. Everyone was super friendly and made you feel welcomed. I also saw they have Bingo every 1st of the month, brunch specials and much more. Definitely coming here again! read more

I personally wouldn't recommend this place or come again. Mostly because of point 3 below. 1) The presentation of my smash burger was terrible. The burger came all alone on a metal pan. Normally this is fine. But it was terribly presented lonely on a metal plate. I've had smash burgers before that had way better presentation (see Bar 140 in Shelton, who does this job on point). 2) Drinks. Terrible IPA selection, but at least they put Maine Lunch in a normal pint glass. The biggest issue is my wife ordered a couple Old Fashioned. The first was a "normal" sized glass (see pic) from my experience. She ordered a second drink that came out in a "mini" glass. It was ridiculous. It was the size between a shot glass and a normal Old Fashioned glass. I asked about this, see below. 3) When I asked about the smaller glass size on the second drink, the manager came over and said "the small glass is the normal size, you should be lucky they gave you that larger glass by accident" ummmmmmm hellll noooooooooo. I should feel lucky?????? No sir. The first glass was a NORMAL Old Fashioned sized glass. No way in helllll that second glass was "normal" size. She gets these drinks all the time and they all come in size of the first glass. So don't bullshit me..... The way the manager guy approached this is why i am giving a poor review. There is absolutely no way the second glass was normal size. I just can't accept that. It was a ridiculously small glass. Being put down like I don't know anything is not the way you treat people. What a pleasant surprise to stumble across this wholesome nostalgic establishment. I was in the mood for bbq and when doing my research look what a jewel I've found. On a day when I needed some me time and chill vibes for lunch and it's a good drink to add "The Banc House" is it!! I come in to the bar not crowded very few people and I was greeted with courtesy, respect and warmth. That will start anyone's lunch with a smile. I'm grateful for Dylan who works at the bar!! Which a gentle soul but very adept and informative of the menu and drink options.. so glasses up for Dylan this here's for you! Cheers!! Banc house is lucky to have you! Okay, now to the meal: They understood the assignment. The brisket was executed with high level confidence and consistency. Nice burnt ends to it with just the right pull with the bite. The baby back ribs were cooked at just the right temperature that gave you the smokiness and texture needed to be fulfilled. The baked beans were served to the point nothing more nothing less, and the coleslaw did its job it wasn't the best but it's okay for it to live next door to it lol! Listen this is a great spot and because of the service and attention to detail with a great host and waiter why wouldn't I give it 5 stars besides we don't go out to eat for just the food we go for the experience and the way it's done and how it's done matters!! Just left BJ Ryan's Banc house Mother's Day brunch. First of all we were not anticipating the brunch being buffet style and that being the only option. We may return to BJ Ryan's. They were big time shorthanded and our server did a decent job despite clearly being in the weeds the entire time. The hostess was also incredible, bussing tables in between seating guests and basically keeping things on track. The food was decent. Friends both had crab cakes and one enjoyed them, the other thought they were too mushy. I tasted them and they were decent. We also had some wings (not very good, I wouldn't order them here again) and roasted oysters which were pretty good. I had the brisket which was decent and the creamed spinach which was fantastic. The roasted broccoli wasn't very good so I would skip that on another visit. All in all it was ok. Not so great I would be eager to return and not so bad that I would avoid it. This was our first time visiting BanC house, and we were impressed with so many things here! First, the menu is incredible. There are so many great choices, some unique ones at that, and it was nice to see how many gluten-friendly options there were too. Whether you're looking for BBQ or seafood, you're in for a treat. Everything is fresh, and the portions are extremely generous for the price! We felt like we were eating somewhere down south with how exceptional the bbq dishes were. The service also stood out to us - not only were the servers attentive, but we also tried the crab legs, and the they were kind enough to show us the best way to eat them. Food was disgusting! My family went to this restaurant on Father's Day 2025. It was an impromptu selection since the place I wanted us to go to with pool tables didn't open until 4pm. To be fair, I dined at this restaurant in the past even placed to go orders and the food was good. However, this time it was not. I should've known something was off when the wings we ordered were cooked very hard (damn near burnt). I let it slide because everyone enjoyed the nacho platter. For dinner, I ordered the fish and chips, my husband had crab cakes with fries, one son had the hot honey chicken sandwich with fries, the other son had a cheeseburger with fries and our guest had the Cubano sandwich with fries. My fish was well done on the outside and undercooked on the inside. My husband's crab cakes were burnt on the outside and mushy on the inside (he loves crab cakes and knows exactly how they should taste and be cooked) same with the hot honey chicken sandwich (overcooked)! All of the fries were cooked in old burnt oil (same as the chicken wings) that made them taste stale and scorched! I've been to restaurants where one person didn't like their food. However never has there been a time, for me, when I dined with three or more people and we all had problems with our meal! I paid $300 for everyone to walk out very disappointed. It was a quiet ride back home to say the least. The only reason why I'm giving them 2 stars is because they were very attentive. But, one thing did stand out to me. When we first arrived the maitre d asked if we had reservations, okay I understand it was Father's Day and he wanted to see if we made one. That's fine. But, he started looking around and trying to see if there was a table he could put us at. He offered us the outside or high bar style table inside. We took the table inside. The thing is, I never saw another party come in from the time we sat down until the time we left. We were fine with sitting at the high table. I just wonder if the other tables were going to be vacant for more than an hour and half why we weren't giving an option to sit there as well? read more

Sat down for dinner outside, under the awning. Both inside and outside are casual, laidback settings. Love the atmosphere. For starters we had Oyster Rockefeller: Baked with spinach, breadcrumbs and Parmesan cheese. This dish was outstanding. Super fresh oysters, loaded with flavor. Good portion size. Seafood Bisque: fresh and good portion of seafood Blue Crab off the specials menu. The crab was excellent, sprinkled with the house spices. Working to get the meat out isn't really my thing, you have to work for it lol It comes with a mallet, a bucket and everything If you're a crab lover, you'll love this dish. Glad we grabbed one, it was delicious For dinner we had BANC House Crab Cakes: 2 Maryland lump crab cakes served with cole slaw and charred garlic sesame broccoli. The crab cakes were fantastic. 2 large crab cakes loaded with crab meat and delicious flavor. Might be one of the best crab cakes I've had in a while. Fisherman's Platter: Fried cod, shrimp and scallops. If you're a fried seafood lover, this dish is for you. Served with a side of cole slaw and house salad. The service was excellent all around. Our table server was super friendly, accommodating, very helpful and provided great service. Overall we had a fantastic evening. Atmosphere, service and food were all top of the line. Service was good up to ordering food. Everyone got their food at least 20 minutes before me. Then waitress completely disappeared. I had to flag down a busboy to find out about my food. I ordered clam chowder and a salad with Salmon. They came back to me within 10 minutes of ordering saying they didn't have Salmon. So, I said shrimp was fine. Probably didn't have that either because I had to wait for a teeny tiny bowl of clam chowder (kiddie size) it was good though. And then again for the salad with teeny tiny shrimp (about 5 or 6), not even the size you find in a grocery store. Was just okay tasting. Wish I could say good things about this place. And that's even touching on their ever changing specials menus. Lastly the drinks. Perfectly balanced cocktails prepared by an incredibly knowledgeable bar staff. While I could have (and would have!) ordered anything on the appealing menu, I decided to be good and ordered a 1/2 sidewalker cobb... damned, if that was a half, wouldn't want to see a whole! Nice amount of fresh crabmeat, took home half. Husband had the sliced brisket sandwich... also a home run. Now we're waiting with bated breath for the blue crabs to arrive... can't wait! read more

We stopped in for lunch and really enjoyed it. The restaurant has both indoor and outdoor dining options. We chose to eat inside because it was a bit windy. We ate at the bar area which was a bit dark but that was fine. For my lunch I had the St Louis 1/4 rib rack with a side go sautéed garlic spinach. My son had the chicken and waffles and my girlfriend had the breakfast burrito. The ribs were the perfect portion size, about 5 ribs (dry rub). They were so tender, fall of the bone. My son enjoyed his chicken and waffles although he would have preferred his waffles to be a bit more on the crunchy side. My girlfriend said her burrito was delicious and her hash browns were cooked to her liking. Overall we really enjoyed the food and the service, Esteban (sp?) took care of us and did a great job. Let me start with saying I have had many good meal at Banc House. It's almost always packed and has a cheerful vibe. Good sports bar on one side with booths along the back and a dining room on the other side if you prefer something a little less noisy. The bbq meats are always good, fresh seafood, and plentiful apps and sides. Hard to not find something on the menu. I usually will go for pulled pork and ribs which I've always enjoyed. The lobster spoons are awesome. Crab cakes are solid. Overall the food is good. I was a little disappointed by the burger and fries recently. This carried over to the poutine. Fries were just not crispy, burger over cooked, and poutine was more like disco fries. That said, I would absolutely try the burgers and fries again, just next time I will ask for fries well done and emphasize to the wait staff medium rare burger. As for the poutine, it's probably the only item on the menu that I would suggest staying away from. read more

How have I not written a review for Banc House? They have inside (bar and restaurant) and outside seating. They often have live music (outside). You can watch sports in the bar. The service is great. The drinks are well made. The food is delish - everything. The seafood is super fresh. You want blue crabs - they have them in season. You want BBQ, it's awesome. Want something else - they have that too. Portions are on the big side so go hungry. Go with friends and have fun. I work one town over from Norwalk and I cant leave that town so unfortunately I am at the mercy of the food delivery services to deliver food from bot BJ Ryans location and they all suck. That being said if and when I get my food it is always too quality. On one occasion I called the restaurant and they were fantastic to deal with. They seemingly do what ever they can for the customer. It's refreshing actually. The NY Strip Sandwich is my favorite. The mac and cheese the pierogis are all fantastic. Also the Prime Rib and the chilli are also fantastic I recommend them all. Oh yea the Key lime pie, fantastic also. I recommend both restaurants. Every time I go to Banc house I get amazing service from Graham, Line, Madison and Joe ! The ribs, burger bowl, veggie baguette are all amazing options and that is just 1 of 3 options.
