On our recent visit to Oak + Almond, third time in the last year, our group of 10 was very pleased with the hospitality from Robert G. (Bobby) in the restaurant and Jessica in the bar. The food at Oak + Almond is consistently excellent, with large portions providing good value, and this visit was no exception. Appetizer highlights included Brussels sprouts and octopus. Entrees including wood grilled pork chops, chicken Milanese, branzino and Bucatini Allo Scoglio were all excellent. Dessert highlights were chocolate sea salt tart and gelato. It's a little noisy with no carpet or drapes to muffle the sound, but well worth the visit. read more

My first meal was the Caesar salad, which was outstanding. The poached egg was cooked perfectly with that soft, medium‑boiled center I love. The Parmesan was fresh, the dressing was balanced, and the grilled chicken was a generous, well‑seasoned portion. Simple, clean, and delicious. The ambience is a huge part of the charm -- a cozy, wood‑cabin feel with a great bar setup. You can get full service at the bar, enjoy top‑shelf drinks, and watch the TVs without it feeling like a sports bar. It's a comfortable mix of locals and travelers, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive. Benny behind the bar was great, and he made the experience even better with fun conversation and excellent service. For dinner, I tried the pasta with sausage, which was flavorful without being overly salty. You can tell they use quality ingredients. The mussels were a standout -- the broth was clean and delicious, with a white‑wine base, a touch of tomato, fresh herbs, and just the right kick from jalapeño. One of the best mussel dishes I've had in a while. The wine selection was also very good and paired nicely with the dishes I tried. Stopped in for lunch on the way back from Fairfield, and it reinforced why this has been a repeat spot for us. We arrived around 12:30pm and, while the restaurant had a steady crowd, getting a table was seamless. Parking is a plus here, with two lots making it easy and stress-free. The space leans modern with warm touches of wood and stone, and the wood-fired oven adds both character and a subtle, inviting aroma that sets the tone the moment you walk in. We grabbed high-tops near the bar, a great perch for a more casual lunch setting. Service held up well even as the room filled in, attentive without hovering. We split a sausage flatbread layered with broccoli rabe, cresenza, and a touch of Calabrian chile, while I went with the cheeseburger topped with smoked bacon, gorgonzola dolce, and onion jam. My wife got the Little Gem Caesar. Everything was well composed and flavorful, with portions that leaned generous, especially for lunch (we took most of the flatbread home). They have a Happy Hour, but only on the patio. The menu is quite varied and original, with something for everyone. I had an 'Il Mais" flatbread that included corn under the cheese, a first for me. Eight smallish pieces and it was very good. The wife had a special, consisting of a pasta we've never seen that looked similar to the appearance of large calamari. She enjoyed it. Loved dining at Oak + Almond! This has been on my list for a while and so glad I got to finally go. Service was spot on too! Oak + Almond is truly a farm to table restaurant. Lots of fresh locally sourced ingredients. I was so impressed with how they made vegetables taste soo good! We started with the artichoke salad which I highly recommend. This was one of their specials for the evening. For my entree I ordered the cauliflower steak which was so tasty! I kinda wished my cauliflower was charred a bit more, but still very good. This is definitely a great spot for special occasions! They have a lovely outdoor area as well. They are on the higher end, so definitely keep that in mind. We eat here a few times a year and it's always good! Great service and food is yummy. Salmon tartare was delicious. Vegetable wrap was good but I've had better sandwiches there. We have driven by this establishment 100 times and very glad we finally stopped in! Really nice ambiance, friendly staff and good food/drink. The bar area has both bar seating and high tables. We had the Burrata starter and the Grass Fed Hamburger and Cavatelli Norcina for dinner. All were excellent. I'd give it 4.5 if it were an option. Highly recommend a visit if you're in the area. So much food! Such a large sprawling space so you don't feel cramped - all these rooms shooting off from each other. Love the layout. Super busy Saturday night so service was a little slow but we had nothing else to do! Don't fill up on bread and that honey butter - it's easy to do. I ended up taking much of my short rib home but it heated up beautifully the next day. My wife found this place recommended by fellow yelpers and it was definitely a great suggestion. The place is on a main street right off the highway so you won't miss the location. There's plenty of parking in the back plus additional parking in the side. The inside is beautiful and modern. Open kitchen concept where you see your pizzas being made and mimosas being poured. Service complimented the ambiance. Amazing. We went for the brunch with the unlimited mimosas, they made sure the glass was always full and checked on us occasionally if we needing anything after we got our food. If I had to compare it to a date...I'd say it's like going out with an accountant. Solid. Dependable. Slightly boring. I've had some good things and I've had some "eh" things. They shine in their desserts and the bread/butter though! This is where the accountant turns out to have a wicked sense of (surprisingly) dark humor. We came here for Father's Day. It was perfect. We got to sit outside. The outside area is really really nice. They have a lot of greenery that makes it feel like you're in Italy. We started with the chard octopus and the brussels sprouts and both were really really good. I got the mushroom pasta. It was so good. It had a lot of truffle flavor and it was absolutely delicious. I ate here with a few friends recently. I ordered the orecchiette pasta, which is a mix of fresh pasta, asparagus, and English peas in a butter sauce. From what I tasted, there was barely any seasoning. I'm a self-proclaimed foodie and lifelong viewer of Gordon Ramsey shows so I know chefs should be tasting their food before sending it out. The presentation was fine, the ambiance inside the restaurant was nice.... But for $21 it really shouldn't be so bland. I didn't finish my meal and intended to take it home and add my own spices but decided I wasn't even wanting another taste. Great lunch at Oak and Almond in Norwalk Wood Grilled Chicken Sandwich with meyer lemon aioli, shave fennel, arugula, red onion and hand cut fries. This sandwich was delicious. Loved the wood grilled flavor of the chicken, it's a great twist and change from your regular grilled chicken. The flavors of the aioli and toppings worked great. Although I don't mind the bun it comes on, it does get messy halfway through. Might be a better sandwich on a bread that holds it all together. Mussels with jalapeños, tomato, basil, cilantro. parsley in white wine. Absolutely loved this dish. The sauce with a little bit of spice from the jalapeños is outstanding. Portion size is great for two people to share. Overall the food was fantastic. The food dishes here never disappoint. We sat at the high tables around the bar. Good causal and laid back atmosphere. Once upon a time, my in-laws sought the halfway point between northern Jersey and central CT so we could grab lunch. They picked Oak + Almond and now they're willing to drive the hour and fifteen minutes to meet us here because it's that good. Whether it's lunch entrees or brunch dishes, our diverse palettes all had something to satisfy and walk out full. My mother in law is vegetarian / vegan and raves about this place for the salads and cauliflower steaks available. Last time our group got the mussels and I'm almost tempted to order those as my entree with fries next time. We tend to get the ricotta lemon pancakes for the table because all of us can't decide who should get it for themselves. These are a few of many options at Oak + Almond. Everyone around us I could see enjoy the brunch options, especially pitchers of mimosas abound for those partaking in drinks. We love the vibe outside when the sun is out and shining on the patio or even when having brunch in the bar with my in-laws having bloody Mary's in hand. Just left this place. Is a must stop. Very nice decor, classy but casual. Chef has blessed hands. This menu is a fusion, which makes food interesting. I love interesting food , that sense of what is the fall or you will find next and how my wine experience will change. We had the Charted Octopus , Salmon- perfectly cooked and crispy; and the filet mignon(this was a WoW factor; this filet had a tit of Smokey taste with lots of flavor). Then a Chocolate tart with sea salt and vanilla bean ice cream ( they finalized there) exceptionally good. Music very calm and modern instrumental. Service was top quality. 100% recommended. We came to Oak and Almond with a large group to celebrate a few birthdays. The open floor plan means they had a table big enough to accommodate all of us. Though they had quite the menu, focused on lunch this early in the day, I opted for brunch. With such a large group, it took the kitchen a while to cook everything, which is completely understandable. Fortunately, the bread was far better than expected and kept the table sated. The meals are upscale, as you may infer from the decor, and while you get plenty of empty space on your plate, the food that's there is worth every penny. It was a Sunday brunch service, so every table was packed, and the venue did get a bit loud. The pouring rain probably kept some diners from sitting outside, so it may have been more crowded than usual. All in all, if you need to entertain someplace fancy, Oak + Almond may fit the bill. read more

Had a great dinner here last night. We had the beet salad and Brussels sprouts to share as an appetizer. Both were very fresh and perfectly seasoned. My husband had the fettuccine Bolognese which was delicious (fresh pasta) and I had the lamb chop (special of the day) which was a generous portion and cooked/seasoned perfectly. Of course the burger comes to me with bacon. I asked for a new burger and all they did was take the bacon off the burger and sent it right back to me I can't eat it because the bacon's juice is on the burger so I refused it and sent it back. We were pretty disappointed with our visit. The service was great and the ambiance is cozy and upscale. The problem was the food - it was actually pretty lousy. The taste of our meals (two of us got a special skirt steak and two of us got fish) was really off - the steaks were almost stringy and my swordfish had an ammonia type taste. And none of the meals were hot, they were at best lukewarm. Our appetizers were actually very good (shishito peppers and the octopus), by far the best tasting parts of the dinner. The patio seemed nice, but due to the weather it was not possible to eat outside. It's a pleasant atmosphere and not that loud (except for the bar area). Our server was efficient and very nice. We went to Oak & Almond for brunch recently and had a solid experience. Their breakfast flatbread (a pizza, really) was tasty, with ample eggs, bacon and potatoes. It did slightly burn my mouth, though. That was entirely my fault. I didn't love the coffee - it was fine, but not as strong as I had hoped. For my meal, I had the eggs benedict with ham, which was good. The hollandaise was almost sweet, which I've never had before and enjoyed. The homemade English muffin was also really good, though slightly too crumbly. With all the food, though, I feel like it wasn't seasoned enough. Every dish could've used more salt, pepper and other spices. Case in point, the hash browns were basted in something resembling hot sauce, but had no real flavor outside of the potato itself. The kids menu also seemed a bit pricey - I think it was $14 for a grilled chicken breast and fries, which feels expensive especially considering other regular menu meals are around $16. The place was also completely packed on Sunday (we had reservations thankfully), so much so that they were turning away people for brunch who were walking in. So get reservations. We must have overstayed our welcome because either the owner or manager came by to essentially ask us to leave since we were there an hour and a half. He probably could have worded it a little more nicely, or at the very least asked us how we liked everything first. I'm not exactly itching to rush back to Oak & Almond but I'd give it another shot for another brunch in the future. Maybe not for dinner though because the menu looks pretty unremarkable. read more
