This is by far the BEST ATV rental on the Central Coast! The equipment is top notch, and the staff is the best. Its too bad I am limited to only 5 stars. Several places have questioned wear and tear on bikes I have returned. We have our own bikes, but when we need an extra for a friend or guest without one, BJ's where we go. read more

Let me start off with saying that the experience was really fun and exciting. The bikes were nice. A little dangerous but what isn't that involves speed. The view of the beach was amazing. If you want to rent here make sure you make RESERVATIONS if not you will wait what seems like forever. The staff is really nice and helpful. I will be renting here again. Just need to make RESERVATIONS. read more

My family and I have never seen an ATV up close, let alone ridden one. BJ's was extraordinarily helpful in getting us in on the same day we requested our ride, and guide us through the entire process with kindness and good humor. Every one of the employees was a pleasure to work with. My son, who is 14, had the time of his life and now wants me to buy him an ATV. Riding along the beach and the dunes in Pismo was absolutely amazing! My six-year-old, 11-year-old, my boyfriend, and I also had a blast! We might just have to live near BJ's to take advantage of this every single summer! read more

We had an excellent experience at BJ's. We've never driven ATVs so we were a bit apprehensive, but they put our concerns to rest. They emphasize safety and proper riding technique so that when we hit the dunes, we knew how to handle every situation we faced. We took a two seat Rhino and a pair of single-seat ATVs. The Rhino was especially great. It had a lot of power and drove more like a car. The ATV felt more like a 4-wheel motorcycle so that took more getting used to. The employees were very friendly and knowledgable. All the equipment was in top notch shape. All like new and helmets were clean! There are several choices for ATV rental and while we only tried BJ's, they were very good and I would highly recommend them. Thanks BJ's for a great experience! read more

We couldn't have been happier! My boyfriend and I came to pismo last week for a late bday celebration and decided to go with BJ's and we didn't regret it. They were very friendly and we didn't make reservations so we were scared they might turn us away. I called and they said to come in, we were excited. I believe it was Annette who helped us and she was very friendly and helpful! She made our experience with BJ's a good one! Thank you! read more

I surprised my husband for his birthday with an afternoon of ATVing in Pismo. He had been wanting to go while we were on our honeymoon in Costa Rica but never got the chance so I knew this was the perfect gift. I did my research and decided to make a reservation with BJ's. Put my $100 deposit over the phone and was a pretty easy process. The girl over the phone informed me to come 30 minutes before our start time to check in. I had made the reservation for 1pm and arrived at 12:30pm as instructed. When we got to the office, there was a line out the door and quite a few large parties. It took about 45 minutes to reach the front and check in. Not sure if this is the norm but once we got to the front the girl apologized and thanked us for our patience and let us know that today was very busy. She was very nice and we understood the situation as there were only 2 people checking everyone in. We were informed of where to go and park and we headed off. The location of the shuttle to take you to the ATV's was easy to get to and only less than 1 mile away. Found street parking and hopped in the shuttle which took us to the beach. The shuttle guy was also very nice so customer service was there. We then were told to wait in a line to get our helmets and there were a few groups ahead of us in that line as well. There was only 1 girl giving and receiving helmets and that took about 15 mins. I was a bit worried as our reservation was at 1pm and it was now about 1:55pm. She told us to be back at 3:50pm which would be our 2 hours we paid for. The ATV's were great! So much fun! My husband loved it and we will be back to do it again. When we got back to return the ATV and our helmets we had to wait in the same line which took about 25 mins. It was the same girl and the same line you get in to get the helmets. We're pretty chill people but were on a bit of a time crunch that day as I had other things planned so the overall experience took a long time. Now I wasn't expecting to be there for 2 hours only and just bounce but the whole process takes way too long. Either they were understaffed or this is just how it always is but to have to wait 1 hour and half to check in, get and receive gear is too much. As mentioned before, we will be back just not sure if it'll be with BJ's. read more

Check in was easy- they had out reservations ready to go. Went over the usual liabilities and signed some forms. You can drive down to the rental trailer on the beach or have them pick you up in a nearby lot. We had a civic so went with the lot. Only waited 5 minutes. Got to the trailer . Checked in . 5 mins of tutorials( more if you are not comfortable). On our bikes and had a blast for 4 hours! read more

Mike was great, went through safety and got us out on the atv's quick. Ended up extending for another hour

we've rented atvs from this place twice now and they make things pretty easy. called ahead and made a reservation. got down to the shop and checked in. picked up our helmets and goggles. and headed out. parked in the free lot and walked down to the beach where bj's picked us up and drove us out to the atv location. we got a quick tutorial and were on our way. my atv started smoking halfway through our ride so we headed back. instead of making me spend my time figuring out what happened. they let me park it on the side. grab another atv. and go. the dunes out there are pretty fun, but can be dangerous. we saw a bunch of people get stuck and even fall off their rides. they allow pick ups and other suvs out on the dunes right along side the tiny atver's. so be careful. my gf got stuck in a valley between two pretty steep dunes. so as a tip, never atv alone. read more

i believe there are 5-6 atv rentals around pismo beach. if you check into this place on yelp, they'll waive your gas fee. i know other places have other check in offers, like 5% off or free t-shirts or etc.... also, another bonus about this place is that they rent out their atvs for an hour if you want. most other places have 2 hrs minimums. i don't know why we picked BJ's atv rentals, but i'm glad we did. the only thing i dislike about this place is that its insanely popular, so it took about 1 hour just to rent an ATV. keep in mind, we went during memorial day weekend, so i just think it was the holiday foot traffic that made it bad. anyways, they have an variety of vehicles you can rent... different levels of atvs, and a modified golf cart...called a Rhino. lol. please note this place is not located near the beach, so you'll have to drive 1.5+ miles to get to the actual rental. the office is where you fill out the paper work, and the beach is where you rent the atv. so we rented 2 atvs, and for the first 20-30 mins, my gf was having trouble riding it, so i spoke with the people at the beach and they said i could upgrade and get the 2 person rhino so we could both enjoy the beach and they would restart our time so we can enjoy the full hour. it was pretty dope for them to give us extra time. the vehicles were fun to drive and its something i'll come back to try again next time. if you have a gopro, bring it. they have the tools so that you can wear one on your helmet. read more

I booked using the easy online process, although when I called the woman over the phone stated that we could just walk in without a reservation. When we arrived they were ready for us and it only took a few minutes to square away the paperwork. They no longer offer goggle rentals but they do sell used goggles at $5 a pop ($13 for new ones), along with other gear if needed. Helmets were provided. We weren't sure if the kids (ages 6 and 8) would fare well on their own ATVs so we ended up getting a 4 seater UTV to begin with. The UTV operated fine (although one of the nets was not secure or functioning) on the sandy dunes and it was great fun until both of our kids got hurt (not the fault of the rental company - Dad got a little enthusiastic on the ride and hit a bump that gave the kiddos some whiplash pains). We ended up aborting the ride earlier than the two hour booking as a result, but the kids still gave the experience a thumbs up. There was pretty much zero training or instruction given, so you may want to do some research on riding before you hit the terrain to ensure you don't do any no-no's. We saw plenty of park vehicles making sure people didn't go crazy but dune rules can be tricky. read more

Awesome people. And what is this I read about the lady on the phone being mean? She's a kind soul. They were all very helpful, great people, no hassle, and threw in a few laughs too. Also, they know what they're doing. All around an awesome experience. read more

Funny, friendly staff. Our flags on the ATVs got accidentally kicked down and they didn't charge us. Tips: Bring sunscreen if it is sunny Light jacket ONLY if it is windy or else it will be quite hot. Gloves or else you will get blisters. Other than that, ATVing was AMAZING. read more

Soooo glad we rented from BJ's ATV Rental. You rent from their office about 1 mile out where you get your helmet and pay and then go to the beach to get your ATV. Everything ran sooo smoothly. I recommend making reservations for your ATV in advance to insure it is there. We arrived a little early, but they still accommodated us. They ran through a short brief tutorial on how to use their equipment and we were off for 2 hours in the sand dunes. Definitely fun and well worth it! If you're heading out to Pismo to ATV and want great customer service rent from BJ's! read more

I had the worst experience ever here! please for me do not go here. Great experience from the moment I walked in the office door. It's like a smooth little vacation; taking their shuttle onto the beach with a friendly driver, getting a crash course on how to operate the ATV, actually embarking onto the dunes, and being shuttled back all felt very professional. Also, the ATV itself was in great shape, the true reason to pick BJ's. Tip: make a reservation if going on a busy weekend, especially if you're wanting to drive anything besides the most common 250cc quad. read more

The staff is friendly and thorough. They provide a training video, a map and points of interest suggestions. I will absolutely return.

These guys are the best. From the office, to the ride to the Atvs we felt like welcome guests. We had total fun. We'll be back for sure.

Throwing caution to the wind is what must be done in order to fully enjoy the ATV experience. That, and having a great rental place. BJ's definitely does the job, and then some. All the staff members were enthusiastic, and informative. We also received a group discount by paying for ten people with one credit card. The rental shack is actually off of the road, whilst the actual ATVing area is a few miles away (you're talking acres and acres of clear dunes solely for motorsports). With shoes on foot and (clean!) helmets snug, we received a brief how-to guide. Sure, it's intimidating at first, but once you rev that engine, wooh baby, you will be wishing you had upgraded ('cuz I sure did). Out of our group, the gals had the 120ccs and the guys the 300cc Yamahas. The ATVs were kept in great condition and served us well. Once out on the dunes, it was quite exhilarating to be jumping tiny hills and going down steep inclines. The dunes are incredibly expansive--seriously, you should ATV before this place gets shut down. Everyone else is respective of others' spaces and there is even a bathroom shack somewhere out there. Me, always careful, always in control, was revving the engine over hills and standing on the bike while doing so. Awesome-o!!! Note: --Wear sunglasses, or else sand will just fly into your eyes. --Some light gloves would help, since some of us blistered our hands. --Your body will be sore afterwards, especially your lower back, from impact of hills. read more

I found BJ's on yelp and went on their website and emailed them to make a reservation. I made the reservation on Tuesday night (like around 11pm) for a Wednesday ATV ride. I got a call from them on Wednesday morning saying that our ATVs were available and that our reservation was confirmed. Making a reservation was so simple and easy. When we got to the shop, Bernadette was very friendly and funny. It was a short trip to the sand dunes and that's where we met Mike. Mike was a friendly and funny guy as well. His instructions on how to ride the ATV and how to ride on the dunes were simple and easy to remember. I'll definitely come back to this place b/c they have great service and great prices. =) read more

BJ's ATV Rentals were awesome! Super friendly staff! They even shuttled us down to the spot on the beach. This was our first ATVing experience in Pismo Beach and we were not disappointed at all. They also offer a check-in offer for $10 toward your gas surcharge. Will definitely rent from them again our next trip down. read more

There was a huge line due to the Holiday but they ensured if you had reservations you were priority. Mindy helped us and she was very thorough with the safety tips and directions. We came here around 2:30pm on Tue, there were 5 ppl getting ready to go. We got help right away when we first walked in. We got 2 Atvs 1automatic and 1manual 250 Honda Atv for 2hours for $160. Used Yelp checkin free gas offer. We had too much fun in the sands. Going up and down racing... except the last 30meters away from the return point. I fell from my atv to my left side and the atv fell on me. Got rescued right away. Nothing serious happened. But be very very careful in the sands. Overall, Atv was the best thing we did on our vacation in Pismo Beach area. Highly recommended!!! read more

Atvs are so much fun!!! BJs has awesome service! The lady at the front counter was very helpful getting us all set up and the kind man shuttling us to and from the atv spot was super friendly and even gave us a few tips on eateries to check out in the area. I plan on coming to do the 4 hour rental just because our group felt like 2 hours was not enough. Tips: -Check in on yelp for a discount. -Go with a group or at least always try to ride in pairs. Me friends kept getting stuck in the sand and it was nice to get help from your buddies. -A few friends got blisters from gripping the handles. So maybe bring gloves. -Sunglasses or goggles are helpful. -Pay attention for drop offs. You seriously cannot see what's coming unless the entire area is flat Majority were sore a day after. So get your stretch on. read more

I had a complete ball with family and friends. Staff was great and friendly. Atvs were very fun. We will for sure be back!!!!!

With a SUV packed with people, and about 6 hours of driving round trip, this trip was definitely worth it. BJ's rental was real chill, and hassle free. They had provided us very clear instructions on what to do, what not to do, places to avoid, and etc. Weather wasn't perfect when we got there, but they weren't to blame. The four of us who actually went on the ATVs had an awesome experience. Thanks! read more

BJ's ATV rental seemed like a good group of laid back people. They were funny when teaching us how to ride the ATV and when taking group pictures for us at the end. They covered most of the material very well but luckily we had some friends with experiences to cover anything they left out. It didn't take too long to get used to the ATVs. They were very helpful when finding us the right helmet and goggles. The dunes were amazing! It kind of felt like we were in the desert but a super awesome desert! It was really fun. The only downside was that they seemed awfully excited about charging us extra for either rolling our ATV or knocking the flag off of it. Also, parking on the beach has the possibility of sucking. They had to call us back to move our cars because the water was going to get to them. Be careful what car you bring. You may get stuck if you have the wrong car. I think the 2 hours for $75 was a good amount. 3 hours would have been better but 4 is a bit too long from what I've heard from friends. Wear sunblock. read more

It's been quite a while since I've gone ATV This place is foremost though, absolutely Their prices are so far, the best on the beach They also the first shop, as you drive by the sea The staff is way friendly, they def know their ish But no 5 stars from me, cause of one little tick You got one of the guys, that goes through the rules But takes somethin' like 15 minutes, a bit long winded too He does it in a fashion, that makes comic sense And lists crazy injuries, to scare out your sh*t To make sure you don't go, fly off the dunes It's funny, but shit man, I've heard it a million times too A small quirk however, cause this shop is bomb They will allow you some extra time, to ride extra long I've also had to cancel, on the day of And they didn't charge me extra, for that, I give much love I give this shop a high rated scale Can't wait to hop on, and give that sh*t a wail read more

I had a blast here!! The helmets and goggles smelled bad.. so be prepared! The sand dunes seemed endless! I'll definitely be back ! read more

BJ's ATV Rentals - Sooo much fun! - Motorcycle Dealers Near Me - Oceano, California

ATVing in the sand dunes was probably the most fun experience I'd never want to repeat, but BJ's makes it well worth trying out. A few friends and I decided to drive to pismo for our first experience. You check in at this address and pick up your equipment, sign waivers, pay, and get verbal instructions. Then, you drive a mile out to the beach where a shuttle picks you up and takes you to the site to pick up your rides. (You can also opt to pay the $5 for the permit to drive your car on to the beach, but this isn't necessary unless you specifically want to.) getting stuck is just part of learning the ropes, but almost everyone does. Be sure to stick with your group or you'll have a hard time digging yourself out. Once I actually got to the real sand dune course, it was super fun to putt around. Some of the drops were intense! Overall, I don't know if I'd ATV on sand dunes again, but BJ staff are super friendly and helpful. One of the employees even suggested an amazing restaurant that we ended up going to on our way back to SF! read more

Came here on Sunday. It was pretty busy but no reservation needed. Just waited in line. Filled out the paper work paid the bills. Time to hit the sand. You drive down to Pismo and you get a shuttle to their location if you don't want to pay to drive in yourself, which saves you 10$. Once you get to the location you wait for them to set you up in your ATV then its a quick demo on gas breaks, how to reverse and basically don't do anything crazy. TIP: Remember where BJ's ATV is! Look for some markers to figure out where you are exactly before you leave. We did the two hour ride. It was more than enough, literally more than enough, our group was tired by the time we got back. Its a lot of fun and its a little scary at first. Seriously do not fly off one of those steep walls of sand, and do not get stuck either. It will be interesting 10 minutes figuring out how to get out. Overall this place is great and its riding ATVs on the beach who doesn't have fun! Also, some of their helmets have GOPRO mounts on it ready for you to clip in! read more

I've rented here twice and I will definitely be going back for a third time in the near future. First off, I love the Yelp deal: buy 2 hours, ride for 3. I recommend making an appointment to reserve some ATVs before showing up. We each spent about $84 in rental for the two hours and it was well worth it. Secondly, they've got amazing customer service. I got stuck in the dunes with a dead ATV and in just a few minutes, a member of their team came out to and replaced it. read more

So I got time , might as well review some spots I've been to in the past few months. Had the best experience at this spot, the lady that helped us was so funny, friendly and knowledgeable, she made our experience that much better. Right off the beach, great prices, easy process. We went on super bowl Sunday afternoon and had the dunes all to ourselves! Would definitely come back and rent again. read more

Full marks for a simply amazing ATV experience. This ranks right up there with some of the best things I have done. I can't wait to get back and try out the dune buggys. After the initial hesitation, my fiancee and I were hitting even the steepest dunes (uphill as well as downhill) with great gusto. My Honda 250 EX with the manual shift was a great vehicle, the acceleration was pulsating! Enjoyed the whole experience Super value too! These ATVs are surprisingly agile and stable vehicles I know, I am rating the "Pismo Beach ATV" experience itself a bit more than the way BJ's brought it to me, but since BJ's didn't do anything to diminish my experience, I feel they deserve the ratings read more

I have tried a few different ATV places in SLO and they both had very friendly service at the place where you pay for the rentals. The people that you meet at the dunes are not so friendly but usually good safety lessons are never that friendly. The experience here is much better than Steve's ATV, which I will never go back to. Steve's ATV is a rip off. This place is easier to find than Arnie's ATV if you do not know Pismo very well. Caution, when driving a car that's not equipped with 4 wheel drive, don't drive on the dry sand areas and don't slow down! I needed a tow last time and learned my lesson. read more

I went here two weekends in a row! This place is great! You walk in and they are very friendly and get you your goggles and helmet. They give you all the rules and tips to ride. They provide a shuttle from the beach to the atv site but you gotta get from their store to the beach. Parking is difficult to find but you'll eventually find a spot. If they can shuttle from store to beach to atv site, it would be great! Once you're there, the guys give you a lesson then you're on your own! Take a pack pack. Bring water! Lots and lots of water! Oh and we got fee gas bc we checked into yelp! read more
