After reading the reviews you would think this place is worth it right ??? Nope ! Don't waste your money . Let's start off with the customer service , there were two blondes working up front and omg they were the slowest people ever . Unprofessional , unorganized , and on top of all that one of the ladies decided to yell at our party saying "keep our voices down were too loud ". I get that but it's how you say it . It's very clear they had attitudes . After waiting for 45 min we finally paid for our rentals and headed to the beach . When we got there it was a long line and only one person was working , you could tell she was overwhelmed . You had to choose your helmet and they give you lysol to spray inside that's it . They don't give out masks covers so I recommend you bring your own scarf and face mask . The Instructors were horrible they only teach you how to turn the ATV on and off , Basically you have to teach yourself . I had to ask people for help a couple of times smh . It's time for them to upgrade their equipment everything was old . I had a 250ex which looked like it was about to fall apart . Uggh I will never go back to this place . read more

I thought BJ's was the best ATV rentals in Pismo after reading yelp. I was wrong :( 1.called them a day in advance and asked about sharing ATV and it was all good, went there in morning and surprise !! sharing is only for 2 people and $10 extra, really ? $92 total for 2 hrs of Yamaha 250x 2.Bjs is neither biggest nor the economical atv rentals there you will realize it after seeing the prices of Sunbuggy & Steves atv rental price near the beach entrance. 3. most important: the ATV pick up location is more than 1 mile away from the beach & you can't reach there without getting ur feet wet, there are some creeks. So you book & pay in their office and drive to the beech, find a parking if you can then get their ride if you can locate it. We couldn't locate their pick up point because there weren't ANY, office staff give clear instructions how to locate ur ride!! I wouldn't recommend this place, I should have gone near to the beach entrance and booked it from there & got a pick-up from their office to the ATV pick-up area There are at-least 2 better options next to the beach read more

Me and my girlfriend rented atv here twice in the same weekend. The customer service was very polite and professional. It was my girlfriend first time riding and atv and the instructions to operate was pretty simple. Just don't drive reckless and you will have an enjoyable time and stop at top of each dune. This is the best place in the world over 1200 acera of sand and free ride. I would ride all day if I could. you can even camp there. Lots of hotels around and restaurants I highly recommend it as a get a way they also have dune buggy's I found a 18 wheeler that was turned into a mini beach shop. They also offer free shuttle rides from the beach to the ATV rental. read more

Full marks for a simply amazing ATV experience. This ranks right up there with some of the best things I have done. I can't wait to get back and try out the dune buggys. After the initial hesitation, my fiancee and I were hitting even the steepest dunes (uphill as well as downhill) with great gusto. My Honda 250 EX with the manual shift was a great vehicle, the acceleration was pulsating! Enjoyed the whole experience Super value too! These ATVs are surprisingly agile and stable vehicles I know, I am rating the "Pismo Beach ATV" experience itself a bit more than the way BJ's brought it to me, but since BJ's didn't do anything to diminish my experience, I feel they deserve the ratings read more

I have tried a few different ATV places in SLO and they both had very friendly service at the place where you pay for the rentals. The people that you meet at the dunes are not so friendly but usually good safety lessons are never that friendly. The experience here is much better than Steve's ATV, which I will never go back to. Steve's ATV is a rip off. This place is easier to find than Arnie's ATV if you do not know Pismo very well. Caution, when driving a car that's not equipped with 4 wheel drive, don't drive on the dry sand areas and don't slow down! I needed a tow last time and learned my lesson. read more

I went here two weekends in a row! This place is great! You walk in and they are very friendly and get you your goggles and helmet. They give you all the rules and tips to ride. They provide a shuttle from the beach to the atv site but you gotta get from their store to the beach. Parking is difficult to find but you'll eventually find a spot. If they can shuttle from store to beach to atv site, it would be great! Once you're there, the guys give you a lesson then you're on your own! Take a pack pack. Bring water! Lots and lots of water! Oh and we got fee gas bc we checked into yelp! read more

This was the worst experience ever and it was my first time on ATVs . The people in the office will judge you by your appearance. Their tone of voice changed when they saw people of their race blocked in and on top of that the guys on the beach handing out ATVs discriminated me and my people by mocking us of our language. We come to BJ's every time we are in Pismo. Been here about 5 times but this is the first review. My daughter called to make the reservation and said the lady over the phone was pretty rude. Once we arrived though both ladies were very pleasant and helpful. Although I don't remember the $100.00 deposit per person to ride, whatever! We rode for two hours and had a blast. My friend kept getting stuck seeing this was her first time and the guy that came out was great. He even hung around to help the other three times she got stuck. I have always been to angellos up the street my whole life. My girlfriend wanted to go atving and I was checking yelp out and saw bjs had great reviews. We tried them this morning and we got in real fast, front desk guy was chill, the staff was very professional. They even let us ride a hour later for free. We paid for 2 hours and got 3. We only rode for 2 hours because it was enough but we could of went longer which was really cool. I definitely will only go to bjs from here on out. read more

It was a good place to rent atv's in Pismo. There was a great variety of vehicles and accessories to choose from. The staff in the storefront was very courteous, knowledgable and helpful. Our family had a great time, and it would have garnered 5 stars if not for 2 things. 1. Even with a reservation, the wait in line at the store can be very long. I think we were there for about 45 minutes before we were seen and checked in. However...it was a holiday weekend, so I will give them some slack, as you can only do so much with the trained help you have on hand. 2. The gentleman on the beach (where you get the ATV's) neglected to tell us that our younger son's Kawasaki 90 was a shifter. It is listed on the website as "Fully Automatic", and they call it an automatic...but in reality they just put it in 2nd gear and hope the kids don't shift by mistake. Well...unfortunately they do shift by mistake. Very easily. Wondering why my son (a pretty good first time rider) was lagging behind...we hear another rider passing us yelling "He needs to shift, he's winding out". We were a little confused at first, because: - We couldn't hear his bike's engine since he was behind us...so we thought he was just going slow. - It says "Fully Automatic" on the website and they even said it was automatic...so why would he need to shift? Anyhow...thinking it was a much larger issue, we slowly trekked back to the staging area, only to have them tell us..."Yeah, it's really a shifter bike, but we put it in 2nd and let them ride". Well..damn, had I known, we would NOT have wasted our riding time coming all the way back on the beach to get that info. We spent our last 15 minutes just riding around the immediate area. The kids had some fun, but we were all kinda bummed because we lost a good 30-45 minutes of riding time over a non-issue. We'll definitely come back, but this time we know what to look out for. read more

Came in and was greeted right away. They gave us a 10$ ( gas discount) for checking into yelp. We were in and out and the staff was great, patient with us while we picked out our stuff. The service was great the information and knowledge of the equipment was very informative and helpful they knew their stuff... They recommend Atv's for us they did not try to sell us the most expensive ones...they knew we were beginners and they gave us a really good run down on how to drive and be safe.... The only bad thing was the wait time on the beach for our pick up we waited about 45 min to a hour which cut into our riding time but they gladly reimbursed us for the 30 min time loss with no problem will for sure go back and ride with BJ read more

OVERDUE: Our trip was sept 2012. We got lost trying to find this place. It's a small rental office that was right infront of our faces! Lol. Very close to the dunes :) At the rental office, pay, sign forms (waivers etc.) and pick your helmets. The staff was really nice and helpful while we filled out our forms. We then drove to the dunes. Met up with the instructors whom were very chill and they taught us everything. Before they let you go on your own, you all have to do a test run. They also warned us about these plastic pole flags on our atvs will break if you fall, so be careful. My bf did end up breaking his, but they didn't charge us. Can't wait to go back! read more

My roommate and I went ATV riding today and it was AWESOME! The woman at the front desk was very helpful and informative about safety guidelines. Troy, the employee who showed us how to ride was extremely friendly. Great customer service! We had so much fun, despite falling once. Highly recommend that you wear long pants and sturdy shoes as you may get some battle wounds. Take precaution at the edge of dunes, the drop may be too steep for the bike you have. Had such an amazing time! Went with a group of 7, and Sherry and Lucy hooked us up! They made sure we knew all the ropes, gave us great directions down to the beach where we met our driver in a timely manner. They also were courteous, funny, and made sure our helmets fit correctly! Everyone was aware we were coming and made sure we had a great time once on the beach. Only $82 for two hours which is the perfect time. $100 deposit. read more

Showed up early for our 2pm reservation, waited 45 minutes for our turn in line (there were 8 people in front of us), after that wait, it took another 45 minutes to check us in (aka, sign waivers and whatnot, this after we had made online reservations). The woman was completely discombobulated, she thought I overpaid, refunded me eight dollars then had to redo all the paperwork because she found she made a mistake and then had to charge me 30 dollars to correct it. They were supposed to have goggles, but they quit loaning/renting them so we had a lot of sand in the eyes, tough on the kids. We finally got out of there, only to be told that it was unlikely we'd have the bikes we reserved (since we were late, we weren't they just take too long checking folks in). Got to the beach finally, and encountered another unorganized group of yahoos. We already had helmets so we skipped what appeared to be the helmet line (another endless and unmoving line) and got into the bike line. Got our bikes and we were off. Well, not exactly. One of the kids bikes had a problem, kept stalling, so we had to wait another 20 minutes to get that swapped out. Off we went. Kids had a blast, but we had to cut it short because we had dinner reservations (bike reservations were for 2pm, didn't get out on the dunes until 4:30pm). Got back, checked out and learned that we were supposed to wait in the long helmet line, punk kid actually yelled (he has a long way to go). Got through that, then only had to wait another 30 minutes for the return shuttle. I have never experienced this many fails doing business with a company that has been around as long as they have. I'v heard good things about Steve's, gonna give them a go next time. read more

Check in so quick with reservations for Memorial Day weekend. Staff super friendly and efficient. Atvs are hit or miss, as some don't function very well. We had quite a few novice riders with us and it was frustrating for them to having restart their atvs to ride. Over all a great experience! read more

RENTERS BEWARE!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!The counter staff does not tell you the whole truth. Checked in to rent ATV's. I was shown a map that was drawn by a child. I am not joking. Crayons on paper! I was told to walk 1/2 mile between orange mesh and homes until I arrived at the creek. Once we arrived at the creek, I was told that "locals" were going to meet us and drive us to their rental location on the beach. Unbeknownst to me, it was a mile walk, and I was required to cross through the creek. When I called the office upset because no one told me about crossing through the creek, the rude woman hung up the phone. WTH?!? When I called back and asked why the rude woman hung up, I was told she was upset. By the way, this is the number they tell you to call in case of emergency. Never in the history of ever, have I experienced such behavior from a business. They need customer service training!! read more

Very easy to deal with! Called a week ahead to reserve ATVs and they had us on record when we got there. Staff were super friendly! No attitude from the shop staff or the guys at the beach. ATVs we rented were in working order and never had any problems with them. Never got stuck so we didn't get to try out their rescue team...and that's a good thing! read more

This was a wonderful experience! The ladies inside the rental location were very nice and friendly, great customer service! However once we picked up the quads on the beach there was a gentleman who checked us in who had a bad attitude. Kinda chubby, dark hair and beard! The attitude appeared to be only towards our group, my first thought was he's a racist, then I said well maybe he didn't like my dyed hair lol. I used BJs last summer, so I thought I would come back and give them my business again. It was my birthday getaway weekend with my daughter and husband. I called BJ's around 10 am and asked if they had atvs available and if we needed a reservation (it was March 25th 2017). The gal over the phone explained to me that if we came between 12pm-1pm we would be okay. After that it would get busier. So my family and I arrived at Bjs at 11:00am. We stood in line for about 20 mins waiting to be helped. Then a blonde haired rude ass lady wearing pink lipstick asked if we had a reservation. I told her we didn't and she proceeded to yell at us and told us that reservations were going to be taken care of first and that we needed to wait outside the door. I thought it was really rude. We were standing there waiting to be helped and we were practically being kicked out of their trashy establishment. I felt very disturbed by the tone of her voice and my husband and daughter wanted to leave immediately. I'm not sure what her problem was, my family and I were just waiting in line and she came at us with that kind of negativity. We left and called Sunbuggies, they were much more helpful and extremely nice. We made our reservation over the phone and got a better deal. The location is way closer to the sand dunes, and the employees seem to have fun. You don't have to drive down to get your Atv, like you would with BJs. Sunbuggies is way more professional and they have exceptional customer service. STAY AWAY FROM BJS AND GO TO SUNBUGGIES!!!! read more
