OMG! My husband and I are shopping for a replacement front entry door for our standard size front door. We checked a couple of places and what we want is approximately $5,000-$7,000 including installation. So I'm shopping at BJs and there's a kiosk set up with a woman promoting BJs Home Services. She said we would get a discount for being members of BJs and also a military discount for being a veteran. So we set up an in-home consultation. He arrives, we pick out a door we like, and now we're waiting for the price. Get ready for this: $38,000.00!!!!! (okay specifically $38,258.00) When we laughed thinking he was joking, and the price was actually $3,800.00, nope. So he works his numbers and somehow, magically, gets the price down to...wait for it $24,793.00. What, does this thing come with a butler who's gonna open the door for us? Okay, I think I'll pass. BJ's Home Improvement - My estimate!! - Department Stores Near Me - Natick, Massachusetts

I used BJ's for a floor installation. Everything went smooth until the contractor showed up for the installation and said that I did not have the quarter round (trim) for the floor. The materials had been ordered directly from the contractor to BJ's so this was not my fault. Anyway, when I tried to call BJ's to fix the issue they kept me on hold and then eventually hung up on me...all day! I tried over and over...same result... I also used the option of leaving my number for a call back... twice... but I never received a call back. In the end I was forced to buy the materials from Lowes myself ...at my own cost... luckily the contactor is doing the right thing and installing it for me at no additional cost...but it still cost me hundreds more than the estimate because I had to buy the additional materials myself...and as of today I still have not been able to contact an actual human at BJ's home improvement department. DO NOT USE BJS. THEY TAKE YOUR $ AND DISSAPEAR! read more

Had an appointment for a new roof estimate with the company yeureka home remodeling (BJ's) The appointment was for this week.The estimator called last minute 4:00 PM to say he could not make it! We took the day off from work! The next day someone calls us to apologize for the cancellation and promises to show up the next day and doesn't show up! That does it for Yeureka! Seems as though I have a knack for getting the wrong end of the stick. Here is another one of my fairy tale stories. I've hired Bj's to do my sidings and windows a few years ago (3 years) on my home and, for a very hefty price, however, it was still less than the amount Home Depot (HD) was charging me. Hence the reason I choose Bj's, despite the HD rep telling me, "why would you get a grocery store to do home improvement on your house". A verse today that keeps ringing in my ear from time to time. When the Bj's rep came to my home to offer me his proposal, bet your bottom dollar he would have sold me his underwear if he had stayed a few minutes longer. The guy, despite being very nice was committed to sell me that job and here I am thinking this is another big company that will not risk burning their reputation to make a few dollars, so hey, why not, give them the job. The financing made it easy also, at 3%, unlike having to hire an outside contractor where you would have to cough up cold cash on the spot. So, I decided to give Bj's the job. If I can recalled clearly, I swear I heard the Bj's rep saying lifetime on the sidings and windows and 10 years on the labour. However, being a fairly new home owner at the time I did not know what exactly to look out for in this area, I trust them. Like the HD- Bj's too have outside contractors working for them, at the time it was Bil Ray, a contractor that is based in Elmont (40 ELMONT RD, NY) where no one speaks English and, has (or had) been in business a while now. They also worked for HD before they lost their contract, at least, so I was told. Bj's on the other hand took the HD rejects under their wings and now it was Bil Ray Group working under Bj's umbrella. It's been 4 years and I have had leaks, to date, its still leaking and I am still trying to distinguish whether it is the roof the HD did (see my HD report below) or the windows/sidings Bj's did? By the way, HD head office has been in contact with me since my last write up about the roof they did and since I reported them to the "BBB" they are more than willing to help now, but first I must fix the window that Bj's did because the corking is really bad, so the HD is assuming it's the window. Guess what, I recently called Bj's, they said Bil Ray is out of business and therefore they cannot honor any contract from Bil Ray. Which by the way, I cannot find (my contract), its been a while now, heck, I don't even think I got a contract. Bj's however, is just loving the fact that I have no contract so they are definitely not obligated. Mind you, I signed up with Bj's NOT..... (I repeat) NOT Bil Ray and when I called Bj's they can still see the job that was done as they still have my records via my phone number which acts like a reference number. So they do not even need a contact. The receptionist seems very happy to learn I did not have the contract and is using it against me. She said they are not helping me because they only offer one year service on their warranty and the fact that my work was done a few years ago they cannot honor the contract. Bj's said, take up my problem up with Bil Ray, hello, Bil Ray is out of business. Let me repeat again, I signed up with Bj's NOT Bil Ray. My question is; why can't these companies just be upfront in the first instance? simple is that. Bear in mind that I have had this problem since the first year of the job, either case it was still under the warranty. I have been calling them ever since and they came out and did nothing much as the problem sill exist. Guys, if you intent on getting work done by Bj's you better think twice or make sure that the work is done properly and you have ALL paper work and save them. Think about the verse. "Would you get a grocery store to do home improvement on your home". Cut off the middle man and hire a reputable contractor, in this case, Bj's is the middle man. Hey, I too can get a contractor to do your job for you, but I as the middle man would charge you enough to cover my cost as the case here with Bj's. A man with a pretty uniform shows up at the beginning of the job and the end, to sign the paper work and to collect the check that he DID NOT WORK FOR, instead they hire outsiders and pay them minimal for jobs that cost in the thousands, do the math guys. My husband and I went to BJs to pick up some food when we were approached by an aggressive salesman. After speaking with him We agreed to an appointment at 3:00 pm on Monday, October 28 for a free estimate on windows. Well 3:00 pm has come and gone and they were a no show. Well I guess that tells me all I need to know about this window replace company. They are unreliable. I'm glad I found out before I invested any money in this company. read more

I contracted with BJs for a standby generator for my house in October of 2021. With the supply chain issues there was a backlog of several months. In the meantime, the contractor gathered the information for the permits and submitted the application. Then, unbeknownst to me, they needed approval from the gas company, which they didn't do until just recently (March of 2022). The gas company informed them that the gas line in our neighborhood wasn't sufficient to run our generator and it would cost me an additional $5,000 for the utility company to dig up the street and increase capacity. Since this was would add more than 50% to the cost of the project, which was already over budget, it wasn't financially feasible to continue. However, the contractor refused to refund me the permit fee of $237 even though, in my opinion, they shouldn't have attempted to pull the permit without first obtaining the utility company evaluation. I would think an experienced contractor would know to do that before expending funds for a permit. But, since BJs Home Improvements touts their "Total Customer Satisfaction" I thought they would make good on it. They refused to do that even after speaking with a supervisor. They claimed I broke the contract and I was lucky to get anything back. My claim is that due to the mistake of THEIR contractor, I was out $237 and BJs should make good on it based on their promise of satisfaction. Clearly that's a just false advertising. I will never use them for any home project EVER and I do not recommend them to anyone. read more

I just purchased my first home in the Hudson Valley N.Y. I was told that the current hvac system was no good and would have to be replaced. I contacted B.J's. Home improvement obtain replacing the system with a new energy efficient system. The company that they sent came by did all their measurements and told me it will take a few weeks to have it replaced. Time came to replace it they showed up and replaced the old with the new system. Got home and the house was very comfortable with the new system. Until I went to take a shower and I had no hot water. Had to call the boiler people to find out what is wrong with my boiler. After looking at the boiler. He told me that the Havc company replaced a 120 volt Havc system with a 220 volt system which they put with the boiler system. Which fired out the components to my boiler. And the work that was don't on my hvac system was a terrible job with expose wires in my attic. I was told I'm still Lucio have a house. Cause the work the company did could've burnt down my first home. read more

My mother had her bathroom completely renovated by BJ's Home Improvement who used PIC Installation Made Easy. They had installed a new toilet and then took it off and put it back without using a new wax ring. It began to leak and eventually caused water damage to the ceiling below. PIC came back and did reset the toilet on a new wax ring and said they would come back to repair the ceiling, but they never did. They used the loop hole if there was any old water stains they are not responsible. We reported it to BJ's, PIC claimed there was previous water damage to that ceiling so they were not responsible and BJ's did not even get our pictures of the area or our side of the story. Even if there was an extremely old water stain, there was no leaking at the time of the installation. They worked on the pipes and there was no problem noted at the time. They caused an issue by not changing the wax ring. They should be responsible for the damage caused by their negligence. The ceiling was dripping water and chucks had come off the ceiling Because of the toilet leak. You have to use a new wax ring every time you set a toilet. You can't take it off and reset on same ring. Would not recommend using BJ's at all. I tried to call and tell them what happened and they ignored my calls, never returning them and then sent a letter saying it was resolved and it was discussed with us. They did not discuss anything with either of us. We had the ceiling repaired and it was noted there was no leaks in the pipes. BJ uses sub quality contractors who do not take responsibility for their work. Be aware your warranty expires as soon as they get paid. read more
