My brother and I stopped by BJ's Brewhouse in Brentwood around 2:00 p.m. for lunch. The restaurant was fairly busy, but there were at least 10-15 empty tables visible throughout the dining room. We told the hostess we were happy to sit anywhere. The first issue was that our name wasn't even put on the waitlist. We stood at the host stand for about five minutes before another hostess came over and asked if we'd been checked in. We told her we'd been standing there the whole time. She entered our name and told us it would be about a 10-minute wait, even though there were still plenty of open tables. The strangest part of the experience was one of the hostesses. While we were quietly standing near the host stand, she repeatedly told us to go sit in the waiting area. There was nobody around us, we weren't blocking the entrance, and there wasn't a line of people waiting. We were simply standing there waiting to be seated. After she told us a second time, I asked, "Do we have to sit down?" Instead of answering the question or explaining why, she turned around and walked away without saying a word. It was a very odd interaction. I honestly don't know if we somehow made her uncomfortable just by standing there, but that's how it came across. After waiting several more minutes while numerous tables remained empty, my brother and I decided to leave. As we walked out, the hostess said, "You guys have a good day," but the tone came across as sarcastic rather than sincere. If there was a reason for the wait--staffing, server sections, or anything else--a simple explanation would have made perfect sense. Instead, we were left standing there with no communication and an unnecessarily awkward interaction with the hostess. We left and took our business elsewhere. read more

Ugh, here is what I ordered smash burger, caesar salad and double chocolate pizookie PLEASE DO BETTER caesar salad was DISGUSTING the lettuce was black and brown! You know when you don't use lettuce right away and it becomes wet, soggy and smells bad. Of course, during peak days and dinner hours, the wait time can be a bit long -- something to keep in mind if you're visiting on a busy weekend. The girl didn't know when happy hour started, she never came and checked on our table but would go to other tables to check on them, plus my 13 year old was given a plastic baby sized cup but the girl behind us was given a tall glass and she looked younger/ near my son's age. Located with plenty of parking this place does get busy. Service was very good even though our apps came out before our plates and utensils (we were warned they were being washed). Hard to believe a restaurant would run out, especially since the restaurant was only about 70% full. The Brussel Sprouts and Mac N Cheese balls are always make good starters. They were out of their specials (bone-in Pork Chops) so I opted for the Jambalaya which doesn't disappoint; hearty and had good heat. The Prime Rib was good but BJ's is not a place for this, especially if your tongue is use to House of Prime Rib. It's decent but nothing special. Anyway, I ordered ahead in order to get seated quicker, but it was still going to be a 20 minute wait. She was excellent; very friendly and attentive. She checked on us regularly. I always order the same things: Calamari appetizer ($17.49) & Shrimp Scampi ($25.49). The hubby had the Hickory Brisket & Bacon Burger w/Fries ($19.99). The Calamari came out first. We had time to enjoy it before our entrees came out. Most restaurants (even fancy ones) tend to serve the appetizer with the entrees these days! My Shrimp Scampi was cooked perfectly. The shrimp were tender and succulent. Came into BJ's tonight after a terrible experience at Lazy dog. I was with my 2 boys and it was turning out to be a frustrating night. We sat down and I was informed by the waiter that the small deep dish on pzookie menu. The kids were disappointed. This is when our night turned around by the the best BJ's manager act of kindness. I was greeted by the General Manager Grant Henley and received some of the best service I have experienced in a long time. We were struggling as vegetarians and had quite a few questions about the menu, Grant took the time to sit down and go over options and tour the menu with us. So super cool that was hands the best experience in a restaurant in Bay Area (quoting my 14 year old). He, along with his amazing staff, created a fantastic and memorable experience for me and my two boys. I have never seen my boys this happy after a stressful start to that evening. Me and my cousin came here on a Wednesday night around 10pm. The wait was around 10 minutes or less, however once we were seated it took an HOUR for any food to come out. Our servers name was Anthony E. He did not acknowledge us at ALL after we placed our initial order, we were the only two black people in his section and he checked on every single other table except for ours. Racism? Sounds like it to me. Add on the fact that he walked past our table over TEN TIMES and did not say a word. The wait was accompanied with absolutely no communication or explanation on what was taking so long to make two cookies with a scoop of ice cream. We ordered two pazookis and one order of potstickers. It took 45 minutes for the potstickers to come out, and when they came out, he dropped them off and didn't say anything to the table and proceeded to not bring any silverware. it gained the attention of another table who also gained no silverware after getting their food. Might I add they received their food before us when we had been there 20 minutes prior to when they came in. I sent back the dumplings because at that point I was no longer hungry and just wanted this experience to be over. When our pazookis came out It had been an hour since we had sat down at this point. He then proceeded to not say anything else to the table. He even sent someone else to send over our Pazooki's and I had to grab the attention of another waiter just to get the check. He dropped off the check and didn't say anything no how was the food? No sorry for the wait no is there anything else I can get? You dropped off the check and walked right away greeting and smiling to every single other one of his tables might I add who were white people. mr. Anthony E needs to be fired immediately. Not sure what happened to this place but I used to come here a lot and had no complaints. I haven't been there in awhile and I missed the jumbo pretzel so I took my family out to eat last week here. The servers are not what they used to be the ginger girl was extremely rude and messed up out order multiple times, I didn't get the pretzel I guess she forgot to ring it in, my sons fries were all mushy and gross, my steak wasn't cooked properly I was disappointed. I kept seeing the girl servers gossiping everywhere in the restaurant instead of doing their job, I don't know if they aren't getting trained well but I see a bunch of new people so I can tell a lot of people come in and out of this place. This chain has several locations all across the state and this one is located in Brentwood, California. We were directed to their outdoor heated area within 10 minutes, our orders were taken and there we engaged in pleasant conversation until the arrival of our appetizer to our table. The fried cheese sticks, regrettably not pictured, were quite delicious and were presented well. The Blue Raspberry Candy Rush beverage has earned its namesake...be warned. All of our meals did eventually greet us and they were all well crafted. Their taste was good but the Spicy Chicken with Noodles was a dish that needed additional flavor. We decided to end our dining experience with their signature desert... the Pizookie. We chose the Salted Caramel variety. This shareable cookie with ice cream creation did not last long under our eyes. One always takes a challenge with chain restaurants for each locations excellence depends on their chefs.
