But honestly I'd go here for just the coffee and buttermilk biscuits alone. The coffee was really good, like really good. The buttermilk biscuits were crispy on the outside and soft, buttery on the inside. Plus they are served with honey butter, apple butter, and a seasonal jam. The service was next level too. Our waitress took care of us from topping of coffee, giving great suggestions, and even bringing lids for biscuits dippers.

The salty, smokiness of the bacon, with the maple syrup and brown sugar sweetness, and sprinkling of black pepper and cayenne was the perfect salty, sweet treat with a little kick. There was a half hour wait when we got in, mostly because we got there around 10. The staff had everything running as smoothly as possible. Our server was friendly and took care of two minor issues we had at our table without blinking an eye. I'm not sure how often I'll go to First Watch, but it's nice having options for something different and tasty.

My nieces had huge grins on their faces as they imagined their upcoming meals. After about 25 minutes or so after our order was taken, - the pretzels came out. They looked and smelled fantastic. They were great for holding over my nieces' growing appetites. My nieces enjoyed them thoroughly. That's when things stalled. We waited for over an hour with no additional food coming out. I noticed that there was another family beside our table with a young baby - that had also been waiting a long time. I could see the concerned looks on their faces - as their table grew restless and hungry. You could tell that they were eager to eat, go home and put their baby to bed. My nieces began to to get antsy and began to whine about how hungry they were. My brother said that we would wait about 15 minutes more and if we had no update or food - we'd ask about the status of it. And so we waited. No one came over to us - so I went to the bar - and asked about the status of the food - explaining that we had three younger children with us, that were beginning to get hangry. The bartender said that one of their chefs had gone home sick earlier in the day - and that they were short-staffed in the kitchen. She said that she would check on our order and let us know its status. She never came back over to us. We waited for about 20 minutes longer. Nobody came over. I totally understand how things can get busy, how places can be understaffed, and that things come up - but I think that The Yard could have handled the situation more proactively. They should have let us know from the very beginning that they were understaffed and that there would be a wait for food. We likely would have gone elsewhere. Since my nieces had to be back home promptly for bed - we ended up paying for the pretzels and my nieces' drinks - and left. My brother explained the situation to their staff before we departed. From my time here - I believe The Yard would be a solid spot for a family friendly meal - but only when they're well staffed. If you come here hungry - I'd recommend confirming with the staff - before you are seated - how long the estimated wait for your table and your food may be. Trust.

Truss Brewing Company is located in Pleasant Hills, just off of Route 51. This building has been other businesses throughout the years before Truss took over. It is clearly marked and easy to locate. There is a private parking lot in the rear, but they will have it closed off and filled with tables during the summer months. However, there are other lots and parking options surrounding the building along Old Clairton if this is the case when you visit. We arrived just after 7:00, and the place was packed! They had the back parking lot closed off for seating, but luckily we found a spot right in front. There is no indoor seating here, as they advertise the business to be take-out only. Therefore, you can order online or through some delivery services if you truly are taking the order to-go. However, if you are "dining in," you can order at the counter inside. They will give you an order number, and then call the order number outside for you to come retrieve. First, we made our way inside to place an order. There was a decent line that went out the door, but we made it through that in about 10 minutes. Ordering was straight-forward, as the menu is not terribly long. For the beers, there were some different size options. Also, they sold reusable cans, crowlers, growlers, and mini kegs that can be brought back and refilled. In addition to the made-to-order food and beer, there are some snacks, grocery items, non-alcoholic drinks, and merchandise all for sale. After placing our order, we made our way to the back parking lot to find some seating. As stated, there was a live band performing and the place was pretty full. However, we did manage to get a table. There were picnic-style tables, as well as some bar-height seating. I also saw some patrons bring their own lawn chairs, so that is an option as well! The atmosphere outside was very lively. The music was good, there were a lot of groups socializing and having a good time, and there were some yard games set up on the one side of the lot. Definitely a nice spot to bring the family or meet up with some friends if the weather is nice. The wait from ordering to when we got our food was about 30 minutes. I know the food is prepared in-house, and is not generic restaurant pre-made-type food, so this is reasonable considering that. My fiance and I split a few dishes between us. We ordered the Chilled Colossal Shrimp, the Big Fat "Wings," and the Wood Fries Parm Crusted. The Chilled Colossal Shrimp came with 5 and a nice dipping sauce. I love cold shrimp, so this was my favorite dish. The Big Fat "Wings" are chicken drumsticks prepared like wings. Since it is a different cut, you get a lot of meat for your money. We ordered them with the buffalo sauce on the side as well. They were tasty, and again, a great way to make your dollar stretch for a lot of meat! The Wood Fries Parm Crusted are unique, as they are very thick cut. It is probably over a whole potato's worth of fries, so plenty to share. My fiance loves thick-cut fries like this, so he thought these were great. We enjoyed the food overall! For my beer, I ordered the Mortar, which is an American Brown Ale. I usually prefer a brown/red/amber-type of pour, so this was right up my alley. It was a nice sipper to have throughout the night. In terms of value, I think some items have a much better value than others. Specifically, I thought the fries and the chicken were very much worth the money. I personally did not order a pizza this trip, but some of those seemed to be slightly expensive to me personally. Despite that, you can make it worth your dollar depending on what you order and what you are looking for most. Since this place is take-out only, I truly did not have a ton of interaction with the staff, except for when I put my order in. I had no issues regarding this, though I feel as though I did not have enough interaction to make a comment on this aspect of the trip either way. Likely due to all of the seating being outside, the business is dog-friendly! We brought our dog, and he enjoyed socializing with the patrons and many other dogs who were there as well. This was a great place to spend a sunny August evening! I enjoyed the beer, food, and atmosphere at Truss. We loved the live music, and learned on this trip that they regularly hold a trivia night and other events as well. The only downside is that this experience is seasonal, and weather-dependent. However, the food and beer are available year-round, so you can give that a try anytime. I would recommend checking this place out with the warmer months quickly approaching!

First off, I think the food here is good. It's a nice mix of bar food and some healthier options. So you can take this how you would like though. We had made reservations for 9 and had got there around 7pm. We were told we would only have to wait a half hour until our table was ready. Lie. People had come in and ate and left the restaurant and we were still waiting around to be seated. They were seating tables of 2, 4 and 6 that had had just walked in before we were even thought of. We waited until 8:20 and were never even seated! I realize a table of 9 takes some time to put together but an hour and a half is a joke! We have become frequent customers of BJs near South Hills Village. Our experiences have been exceptional from the moment we enter the restaurant. The food has always been served in a timely manner and appropriately prepared. We especially want to compliment Audrey of the management team, who has always been professional as well as kind and is concerned with our restaurant experience. My girlfriend and I were impressed when Audrey remembered our names after our first visit. I LOVE THIS RESTAURANT. I drive 50 minutes just to eat here. The pizza night is unparalleled with anywhere else around. And not to mention...the Pizookies !!!! Our server, Nina was delightful - funny and knowledgeable! I ordered the short ribs and they come with mashed potatoes and a succotash of sorts. The succotash reminded me of an omelette filling as it was primarily green and red peppers with corn kernels. The mashed potatoes were delicious and the short ribs were good as well. The sauce was a little sweet for my liking but overall I really enjoyed the dish. I also was pleasantly surprised to see that they had Blake's hard cider available in the cans and enjoyed two of those. My husband got the New York strip steak cooked medium, and it was done perfectly. He did ask them if they could do it Pittsburgh style, but was informed that their machinery doesn't get to the heat required for it. He also got mashed potatoes and he really enjoyed them. His old fashion was good as well although he barely tasted the liquor Overall, we really enjoyed our dining experience here and would recommend that others check it out. I ordered the California chicken sandwich, which was good, though I do wish the chicken itself had a bit more seasoning and flavor. I also tried their new matcha tiramisu, and it was absolutely delicious. If you're a matcha lover, this dessert is a must try. The service was excellent from start to finish. Everyone was friendly, attentive, and happy to help. I'd definitely come back, but next time I think I'll try one of their larger entrées.

Notes of spice, wood, nuts, and slight fruit. The taste was great, but just smelling it was pretty intense. The salmon dish was great. The ginger carrot mash was seasoned and puréed enough that it didn't taste like eating just carrots. They cooked the salmon too perfectly to my liking. The service was excellent too - laid back, friendly but they didn't play either about getting your order on time. Solid bar/restaurant, 8.5 / 10.

I first tried online but there was a glitch somewhere in the system. I called instead. When the phone was answered, the background noise was intense. It was so loud that the employee couldn't hear me. At that point I decided to just go in and order. When I walked into Urban Tap, the noise was almost deafening. Music blaring, voices raised to be heard. No one was using their "inside voices", they couldn't. I sat at the bar to order. I never got waited on. I finally caught the attention of one of the bartenders and was ready to place an order. We leaned towards each other, yelling to try to be heard. I couldn't hear her when she read back my order. I really wasn't sure what I'd be getting. Unfortunately, I did get what I ordered - brunch breads and an order of biscuits. It took quite a while to get food - no surprise there. I checked our food when I got it. Oh Lordy, those biscuits looked good. This southern girl appreciates a good biscuit and did these look good. I got the food to the car and we headed out on the next leg of our adventure. About an hour later, I just had to grab one of those golden, flaky discs. Butter? Jam? Nah, the biscuits looked like they could solo on their own. I took one bite and my eyes flew open - not from the deliciousness, it was because of the sheer amount of salt. That can't be right so I took another small bite. I tried a teeny bite of the next biscuit. Salt. The biscuits were inedible. No, I don't mean that I didn't like the flavor. They contained so much salt that there was no way someone could eat these. That's ok, there was the banana bread French toast. It looked a little dark in color but it never crossed my mind that this might not be normal. I took a bite. It tasted odd, off, something wasn't right. My husband pegged it - it was burned. Before grilling or after? No idea. There were also a couple of donut holes. Not even worthy of a second bite. I also ordered fruit. It was good but still not enough to save the meal from dismal failure. We won't be back .

Their menu is ample with lots of tempting selections, and the portions are very good (especially the fish sandwich; I dare anyone to eat the whole thing). Everything is tasty and they do take food allergies into account (especially gluten and dairy sensitivities). Much appreciated by some of my family members. They even have a flourless cake on occasion. Service is always rapid and friendly. The cocktails are always well made with a changing seasonal selection of specialties (and no, as noted as a complaint by one reviewer, they will not serve an apparently intoxicated guest). If you have never tried Jaffre's in Greensburg, give yourself a treat. You'll return many times, as we have.
