Charcuterie Board
Kristy W.

I got an AMAZING charcuterie board to host my Book Club! Everything was a hit! The goat cheese and green beans were my favorite and everything was so fresh! Loads of nuts, veggies, fruits, meats, cheeses and spreads! Everything was beautifully presented!

Great menu even better food! Really enjoyed the Pilsner. Everyone there was so pleasant and nice!

Stopped by on the way to camp at ohiopyle. Great pizza but the real kicker is their strawberry cider, 10/10.

Cavatappi TRUSS
Krista Z.

What an awesome night. I absolutely love going here and it's even better when you can eat amazing food outside, listening to great music and enjoying a great Pilsner.

Outside "stage"

Place was "meh". Beer was ok but nothing special. Generic brewery menu with nothing that made you say "I need to try that. " Food was the same story. "Loaded fries" with beer cheese and bacon was potato wedges, smoked cheese sauce, and 3" slice of thick bacon. It wasn't, bad but it was awkward to eat. Especially without silverware. It's a takeout only spot, with some outdoor seating in the rear. There were lots of bugs and I got bit up for the 30 minutes we were there. You are also 20 ft away from the dumpster and the portajohn. Overall it was forgettable. I see no reason we will try to go back instead of trying another new place. Staff was friendly. Food was quick. Parking wasn't great.

Margherita pizza
Ulyana K.

Awesome brewing company with some delicious food offerings as well! Definitely worth checking out. I got to try out their margherita pizza and chocolate chip cookies. The portions are amazing for the price. Such a huge pie, but very nice thin crust, for just just $16. Definitely reasonable. The quality is also quite high. Nice char on the bottom, adequate amount of sauce and cheese. It definitely hits the spot if you're looking for some thinner crust pizza. The chocolate chip cookies were also pretty good. They also had peanut butter ones. The cookies did have a slightly strange burnt aftertaste. Still, I enjoyed them. They had loads of thick chocolate chunks that were delicious. All in all, I like this place a lot. Very tasty pizza, great people, and I've heard the drinks are also great. Would definitely recommend!

Spring Salad
Erin S.

This is my second review of Truss, and I still give it a 5/5 star. The Volcano pizza (see pic) is 10/10! The crispy peperoni and jalapeños pairs nice with savory ricotta, and the hot honey makes so good. A tip for patrons ordering a salad. I support local businesses but also want to comment on the $ value of thr salads to help make an informed decision. The pizza...100% worth the premium cost for a premium pizza. I ordered the spring salad with a chicken add-on, which was very tasty but the cost is a little outrageous for what you get. The veggies are sliced razor thin (which is tasty) but they are almost non-existent. The chicken add-on is 5$ and I weighed it at 2.2oz! The salad (see pic) is 18$ which is a terrible value. You could buy a second pizza starting at 16$, 2 dollars less than a plate of lettuce and veggie shavings. Again, the pizza is 10/10 amazing and worth the premium cost and the salad is tasty but not worth the money.

It's been a while since we've been to this brewery. It's the only brewery that I'm aware of in the pleasant Hills area. I felt like I needed to review it again because so much has changed since the last time I visited this brewery. Stepping back into the cozy confines of this boutique brewery, it felt like reconnecting with an old friend after years apart. My last visit here was in 2021-2022 timeframe, and as I walked through the door, I was greeted by the same warm ambiance and genuine hospitality that I remembered so fondly. The service, as expected, was nothing short of exceptional. The lady working the front friendly demeanor and attentiveness made me feel right at home from the moment I arrived. While this brewery has always been known for its stellar brews, I was eager to sample their latest offerings. And let me tell you, they did not disappoint. Among the array of tantalizing options, two brews stood out as clear favorites: the Red Brick Ale (Amber) and the Hazy IPA. The Red Brick Ale, with its rich amber hue and inviting aroma, was a true delight for the senses. With each sip, I was greeted by layers of caramel and toffee notes, perfectly complemented by a subtle hop bitterness. Its smooth, velvety texture and well-balanced flavor profile made it an instant classic, and I found myself savoring every last drop. Equally impressive was the Hazy IPA, a burst of tropical fruit flavors and refreshing citrus undertones that danced on the palate. Its hazy appearance hinted at the depth of flavor within, and I was thoroughly impressed by the brewmaster's skill in crafting such a harmonious and complex brew. Each sip was a journey of discovery, leaving me eager for the next. Of course, no visit to this brewery would be complete without indulging in their superb food offerings. We had the salmon, shrimp, fish and the 2 lb drumsticks enhanced with dry rub sauce. It was incredible from the first to the last bite. In conclusion, I need to revisit this place more often to stay updated with the chance. Especially in the warmer months to indulge with the backyard.

Winter salad
Katie S.

We kept seeing the Truss Brewing menu floating around and decided to give it a try and am happy that we did! We got a hoagie, a salad and pizza. Everything was really good. Salads are usually hit or miss, but the winter salad was fantastic. Everything was super fresh which I really appreciated. The pizza is definitely wood fired so has the char flavor that comes with it. The hoagie had unique flavors, but flavors that worked well together. The Mac n cheese was okay, just not very flavorful. We will definitely be back!

Drinks
Is A.

There is no indoor seating area. You order at the counter then take your drinks and food outdoors into their "backyard" which may be really nice in fall weather but not ideal in hot summer especially with lantern flies everywhere. Did like the beer options and various tasty seltzer pours.

Ordered a pizza. Very evident the pizza is baked in a woodfire oven. The toppings were good quality. Very fast and friendly service.

My girl friends and I came after four years of me wanting to come here. I love Gravel Grinder and live close to an OTB so heard of Dancing Gnome from that. Finally made our way there and well, make sure you do not bring young kids. My friend had an 18 month old with us and as she was BUYING a beer from them, the guy who worked there asked if she "could keep the screaming to a minimum." An eighteen month old!!! And Mother's Day is tomorrow, nice. He said that they had to draw a line somewhere and he wasn't kidding. The 18 month old was not running around screaming crying all day. We were outside having the kids play and when my friend was buying a beer he got a bit fussy and was told to keep it to a minimum. Needless to say, we will NOT be coming back. If you have small children, I would not suggest this place. Super disappointing. I've always hyped their beer and place up and now I can't support it. We ended up going to Grist House and it was a WAY better vibe and WAY busier...I wonder why. I should have known when their sign said no dogs allowed.

I loveeeee coming to Cinderlands! Not pictured but you NEED to get a Cindy's Tea when you come here. They sell these in cans as well I always try and grab a pack if we don't bike here! Their crunch wrap is my favorite thing on their menu. If I'm not getting it as my meal I'm forcing it as a table shareable it is that good. Usually I just get their fries with it which is always yummy but this time I tried their mac and it was so delicious! The Chicken Caesar wrap was so good normally I think places never put enough dressing in them but this was perfectly dressed! We tried their Heirloom Tomato & Watermelon Salad and added chicken to it. Idk where I've been but watermelon on a salad?! AMAZING!!! I wouldn't take off or add anything else to this(except chicken clearly lol) it was so refreshing and light and perfect!

This is a little different as they are set up with toast where you scan the QR menu and place your order and then they bring the food or drink to your table. You don't really have a server per se. We came in on a Friday afternoon around 4 o'clock and it was pretty quiet. We chose to sit upstairs and ordered the season of the month chicken wings. It was sour cream and cheddar dry rub. We did get them well done and I'm glad we did because it did make them crunchy here although they still weren't all that crunchy. The dry rub was actually really good, but it was a little bit like eating Cheetos as when you took your fingers away they were covered in orange powder. My husband tried their wheat ale - the easy golden. It was okay, but a little hop forward for him. They did have a arsenal cider on tap so I chose that for my beverage.

So have you seen that meme out on the InterT00bZ that's like "Hey let's go to that new beer place…read morethey have $27 warm hazy IPAs in the middle of a parking lot?" Yeah, that's the vibe I was getting at Velum. There was a lot to like and a lot to not like about this place, so I'll start with the bad and end on a positive note. First off, it's in an old brewery and it looks like a warehouse. I'm not sure if they still brew their own beers but it straight up looks like an old warehouse. I've seen abandoned warehouses that look less like a warehouse than Velum. Maybe some people like that vibe but I felt like the cops were going to bust in and shut the party down like a teen coming-of-age movie. The taproom is all the way in the back, and so are the bathrooms, so if you break the magic circle, prepare to get your steps in. There's no kitchen. They DO partner with a food truck but they're getting their own review. I paid $10 for an average cocktail and $8 for a 12 oz cider that frankly wasn't that great. Either better drinks or bigger drinks, please. And everything is community seating. I don't hate the idea but I didn't care for the vibe so when I found a smaller table my friend and I grabbed it and boarded it. With that being said, there was a lot to like too. First off, we were there for a pinball night, and they have a great selection of pinball tables there, both classic and modern. I really would have liked information on joining a pinball league, but that wasn't offered anywhere that I could find. Plus on that particular night it was $10 for all-you-can-play, so we definitely got our money's worth there. The staff that I did interact with were super nice. That goes a long way and saved this from being a worse review. And the place is dog friendly, which is always a huge plus for me. All in all, I had a decent night. But the question as always is if I'll go back. Unfortunately, probably not of my own accord. If there's another pinball event, I'll definitely go, but it's not going into my rotation of cool spots. Not every place is meant for me, and that's fine.

As a pickleball sports place, I'd give this place a 3. You are able to book indoor courts, but…read morethere is only 3 available-- 2 side by side and one perpendicular to it separated by a net. However, the floors are insanely slippery -- to the point that if you were playing quick plays or rapidly accelerating, I would be extremely cautious. Additionally, it's not clear when the floors transition from the smooth, slippery surface to a rough concrete where you could catch your feet. Between the 2 side by side courts, there's also a random pot hole/divot where you could easily roll your ankle. However, this brewery also offers exciting other experiences: arcade games including ping pong, pinball, etc., rock climbing upstairs, live sports TV, and obviously drinks as a bar. As a multi-faceted facility, there's a lot that you can do here. They also have a bunch of colorful murals, like the one of Mac Miller (rip) and of V for Velum. There's also free parking outside the facility and by the apartment complexes.
