Quite possibly one of the worst dining experiences i've ever had. Food was over priced for what it is and lacked seasoning. Service was the same, the waitress asked what we wanted to drink and to eat and that was it. slammed cups and plates on the table. She was unable to get our order correct and then never came back except to ask if we wanted dessert and to-go boxes. She chatted up with another group which made us feel even worse about the situation. The manager apologized on her behalf. My wife and I had finished up a lunchtime meeting in Waco. We definitely needed to stop for lunch before heading home to Fort Worth. We looked across the highway and spotted BJ's, one of our favorite restaurants. We were seated immediately and our server greeted us warmingly and took our beverage order. She pointed out that since its Monday, pizzas were half-price, such a deal! We decided on one of the Tavern Pizzas, thin crust, loaded up. After a short wait, our incredible pizza was brought to our table. It was fantastic, prepared and cooked perfectly. It crispy and had the right amount of ingredients on it. I've never had a positive experience at BJ's until I came to this one. I came here with my friends on a Friday night, and as expected they were very busy. We waited about 10 minutes for a table, and were seated ASAP. We ordered the sriracha queso as an appetizer, and WOW, that was delicious. The service was a bit slow, but granted, they were packed. The menu here can be a bit overwhelming, like Cheesecake Factory. There are tons of pages and cuisines to choose from. I suggest looking at the menu beforehand! I ordered the Peruvian Quinoa bowl with shrimp and was pleasantly surprised. Of course, you can't come here and NOT order a pazookie. We ordered the trio- chocolate, monkey break, and cookies & cream. All were delicious, but the money bread was incredible (highly recommend)! If you're looking for a chill, but fun atmosphere for a hang-out, or even first date, this is a great idea! It feels like you're not in Waco for a few minutes. read more

Service just keeps getting worse and worse here! After a Sunday Funday fishing trip, we came for apps and dessert at like 10:10pm. The host was super dry and rood, as if she hated her job. She acted like there was no room for our party of 4, with an empty restaurant, because we didn't want to sit in the bar with a guy, who had given us horrible service before. We had to ask for a manager before this host sat us. She said Bill, the manager, "approved" us to be sat with a server who was "already overwhelmed" with her 3 tables she had. When we got sat the server had no urgency at all and was the same as the host, super dry (impersonal) and seemed like she hated her job. We even left before tables that were there before us, out of common curiosity! We ordered two beers that were rang in as "rotating beers" for 8 bucks a piece. For two apps and two desserts we spent 80 bucks. Definitely NOT worth it, even though food was decent. It's super sad to see the service industry so bad at this place. I even worked here in 2016 with Ralf as a manager and it's declined substantially since I was an employee. Needless to say, they need to have a serious convo with their staff about good service. The service staff is so entitled these days that's it's embarrassing! Your tips are NEVER promised so stop acting like you deserve more than your effort! It costs you NOTHING to have a good attitude, and to be welcoming to guest. It would pay off much more if these servers acted like they kinda cared. SMH! Just disgraceful! Do better BJ's! read more

I personally love bjs, but this is NOT the kind of service i am used to. The waitress was super sweet and payed attention to us, but sadly, i cannot say the same for the hostesses. They were very rude and quite frankly terrible to deal with. one of them was blatantly talking about my party to another employe. I will say they were busy, but there is no reason that my party of 8, who made a reservation for 6:15, shouldn't have been sat before 7:45 which is when we finally got our table. it took 6 girls reminding them that we were still there, and multiple other, and larger, parties being sat before us even though they got there after us. once we finally got seated, one of the hostesses threw our silverware onto our table and left without another word. tonight's experience was not enjoyable. read more

I think bjs is hit or miss. I like their California flatbread. Their burger is fine. My daughter got sick on the kids pizza. My older daughter liked the cauliflower but I didn't enjoy it. It's a Sunday eve just before 6, we're the only couple at the bar. Our bar tab is usually more than our food. I really wanted a salad and saw the Poke appetizer and I ordered that first and our first round of drinks a $9.25 whiskey sour and house Cabernet for $8.95. We subsequently ordered a wedge/clam chowder and Caesar salad 2 more whiskey sours and 1 Cabernet taking note that a couple that came in after us ordered steaks and wings and got their order before our salads ever arrived. We didn't complain, but the bartender said her manager gave us the poke on the house. The Caesar was wilted and the wedge was dry. It was a very disappointing experience. Little did she realize that if we were happy with full bellies we would have probably had more drinks. As it was our tab was $80 just because I still left a way better tip than was called for. In summary we paid $80 for a couple of salads and a couple of well drinks and house wine. Not even sure why I gave two stars. read more

I don't even know where to begin. I live 9 hours away from this BJ's and every time I cOme down to Texas we eat there at least three times. We have our favorite waitress Elena who is very sweet, attentive, personable and on top of things. I have never ordered anything bad at BJ'S food or drink wise and I do try to have a variety when I go. The food is great, the service is excellent and the atmosphere is always laid back and family friendly. It was actually eating here that got my son into seafood and now he is also in love with BJ'S. I had the guacamole, salsa and chips first. The chips were made in house and very oily from the fryer. I generally like my chips warm like this, I don't like the amount of oil that remained on the chips. I'm not sure what the chips were made of but whatever it is, soaks up the oil and retains it. The guacamole was very bland. They didn't use enough seasonings at all. I tried to doctor it up at the table but just could get it to taste much better. The salsa wasn't that good either. Tasted like it was from a can. Had a weird aftertaste. It had a tiny bit of heat to it, but that's about it. For my entree, I had the shrimp scampi pasta dish. It was ok, nothing special. It was also on the more bland side. It had too many tomato bits in it for my liking and not enough ingredients in the sauce. If I had been served the dish and not known what it was supposed to be, I would not have guessed that it was supposed to be shrimp scampi. It was more like a watered down butter sauce. Service was ok. I had to request drink refills whenever I wanted more to drink. I hate sitting at the bar with an empty glass. The server was nice, just not very attentive or proactive. All in all, I would not recommend this restaurant. There are better options for dining in that same area. I won't be going back there or to any BJ's location based on this visit. read more

We ordered the loaded nachos to start. I got the jalapeño burger and wife got the quinoa shrimp power bowl. Everything tasted decent. Not amazing, not bad, just decent. We got the beef tips with the nachos which was a good flavor, but the cheese on the nachos were kinda cold. Also the appetizers came out at the same time as our entrees which is probably why the cheese was cold. The burger was flavorful but a little dry, overall good though. First the great, the food was wonderful! Had the pita tacos based on recommendation and they did not disappoint. Definitely my new favorite. As for the not so great, the service was terrible. The hostess looked to hate the fact she was there. The server was even worse. I understand nights can be busy, times get crazy, but this was terrible. It took the server 5-10 minutes to even come over to get our drink order, then after receiving our food, we immediately asked for silverware, 5 minutes later, still no silverware, which would have taken only a couple seconds to hand off.
