Three stars because it's a BJs. The gas station here is almost always crowded with a long line. They really should get more pumps at this location. It's conveniently located right by both 87 and 90, so I am sure that explains the long gas lines. Only times I have not waited in a long line here is very late at night and occasionally in the mid afternoon. The club store is okay and typical of BJs but cashiers often seem distracted and chatting among themselves more than helping customers. If you come here for gas allow for an extra 5-10 minutes waiting in line. read more

AGAIN! I don't know why I keep doing this to myself. I ordered online for delivery. The same item was not delivered as last time. You would think between BJ's and DoorDash one of them could check the order??? I'm paying a $15 delivery fee and then tipping the driver over $17 I should not have to run up to the store to get my missing items! When I tried to talk to them about it they didn't seem real interested. Since it's the same item as last time I'm thinking maybe DoorDash just doesn't want to lift a case of water but you know what? Neither do I that's why I ordered it for delivery. So just a heads up if you order a case of water for delivery with everything else you won't get that. Always a large selection and large busy parking lot. The gas station is almost always busy with a long line through the parking lot but it moves decently. The staff is all friendly and kind! I was picking up food and the person dropped half of my groceries on the floor on the way to the car. Yogurt exploded and got all over everything. He replaced the yogurt and only wiped down the other things that fell even though I requested replacements. The raw chicken and blueberries that fell had holes from the asphalt. He did not replace them. couldn't print out a new receipt upon my request either. The old receipt was covered in yogurt. read more

I have gone to this location for years, hasn't been a issue. Until today I decided to place a curbside order for the second time ever..and magically it's been 2 hours PAST the time for window pickup I chose. They said they had some " system issues". But yet 6 other people have pulled in after me and gotten their items no problem. Sometimes a parent just doesn't want to bring the entire family in and do easy pick up. BJ's is another chain store with the same model. The only thing that really separates them is the size and location. We really enjoyed the Albany location. Purchased gas then drove right to the store and parked easily. We had to return plastic bottle and the machine was in the store so you're not braving the elements while you're here. AND... They were not that busy. The store is clean and there is an excellent-friendly team here. BJ's is good! I like coming here because it's less crowded than Costco and I feel like I'm getting good buys here too. They have an excellent deli area (though it can get very busy) and their prices on cooked food is incredibly competitive. Plenty of Isle space and very easy to grab items off the shelf. Their gas station located just down the driveway from the store is great. My only issues here is that it definitely takes longer to check out and I am always approached by the home builders to redo my siding, roof or kitchen. This review is not about the store but the tire center. I wanted to leave positive review because when you come across a great worker they should be rewarded, since they are few and far between these days! I was up there visiting my sister in college and my 2 front tires were slashed on her block. I luckily had AAA tow me to the location and a very nice young man named Marc helped me. They actually put one of wheels on incorrectly and when brought it back they refused to fix it. They actually wanted me to escalate my complaint corporate. So I did. They did nothing. Never again. It's been many years since I'd been to this BJ's, and I can't remember why I came here frequently in my pre-Yelp days. Maybe because it was the first BJ's in the area? Its age is showing, unfortunately. Plusses, still, for having gas pumps and a liquor area, but they can only compensate for so much. This store is arranged much differently than many of the other BJ's to which I've been lately, and not in what I'd consider a logical pattern. Luckily the signs above each aisle are correct (that's not always the case in some stores). I also realize that because they buy in bulk, they won't always have exactly what you want, but here that seems to be a lot more frequent. Only 2 brands of bars of soap? The vitamin/supplement section wasn't that great either. Self-checkout isn't great either. Instead of each station having a conveyor belt, you have an area on which you can pace items from your cart after you've scanned them. These were wet and dirty - they need maintenance a lot more often. With talk that the planned Costco is moving forward again, whoever owns/manages this particular BJ's really needs to get their act together if they don't want to lose business. read more

If there are high consumption items on your list this is the place to go. Water, seltzer, diet sodas are a basic staple in our home. BJ undersells area super markets cost for Fiji Water, Pellegrino, Diet Pepsi, La Croix. If you are in a hurry to put a gathering together, the variety of hors d'oeuvres are available at a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere. Pool supplies have increased in price everywhere. Basics such as chlorine, algae treatment and pool shock will save you money and let you enjoy your pool without the stress of cost. If you become a member the price of gasoline will almost always be ten cents per gallon less or more. The store provides support for seniors and disabled and has a reasonable number of motor chair shopping carts. I am particularly grateful for this. These are the reasons why I shop at BJ's. I don't operate a restaurant or coffee shop that could avail itself of tremendous bulk shopping, but if you do then this is your place. read more

Did a review 2 years ago and it sure hasn't changed! Went today because I was in the area and came out disgusted! First thing I did was go to the deli department for cold cuts.. there was one guy who was by himself doing the best he could with no help and a line of people ... he was very nice so at least I got what I needed. Next I went to check out and a new employee was disgusted and apologized for an item showing wrong price and on top of that, computer was messed up and wouldn't let her deduct paper or online coupons . I went to front desk and was told to call the main office! Another employee rudely asked everyone in line to move up so we can let her through with a cart! As others have pointed out, it's important to know what the going price is of what you plan to buy. BJ's does not always have the lowest price on items. And even if it is a low price, can you justify the quantity/size of the items you are purchasing? How long will it take you to use all of what you are buying? Is there an expiration date on the items? Is it worth investing your hard earned cash into a fully stocked shelf or pantry with items that will not need to be replenished for a year or longer? Certainly there are families and businesses that can answer the above questions with justifiable responses that also support paying an annual membership fee to belong to BJ's. Personally, I have a very limited shopping list when I go to BJ's. And yes, I've cost out the savings on what I buy over a year against the membership fee to ensure it's still a worthy value to me. And my trips to BJ's are always when I'm planning on already being in the area. Warehouse shopping is not for everyone. It's also true that some brands or products that are your favorite today may stop being stocked at BJ's next week, next month, or whenever. Service has always been helpful in getting a temporary shopping card, getting assistance at a self-checkout counter, or obtaining items in the meat and deli departments. Beyond that, there is little additional service provided. If you want to know more about a product (e.g., a TV; a laptop; a cell phone; a vacuum cleaner) you better do your research before hand. read more

The store has the worst customer service in the Albany NY market. They do not have enough cashiers, self check out has no signage to reflect the payment method, and the help do not want to do their job. The self checkout does not have scan guns due to shrink. This require loading items on to the scale. I asked the cashier working the area to scan my 6 items and she refused. When I went to pay the machine would not take cash, there were signs for one bank if machines but none where I was . The store is crowded yet only 2 cashiers working. The savings from club membership does not out weigh the negatives. There are too many better alternatives in the Albany market. read more

I have been a member of BJ's ( in Albany NY, NOT California) since the 1990's. When I joined, there were several key products that I solely bought there ; canned Pastene tomatoes, Goya white beans, Progresso Bread crumbs, pluw many more. Little by little, most of the items I shopped there for, are no longer available. I do realize that they buy prodcucts based on a system which I don't understand, but It seems as if their own brand is taking over The thing that put me over the edge recently, was the price increase in the Locatelli cheese. Very recently it has gone from $9.99 / lb to @11.99/ lb, while Sam's Club still charges $9.99. My son is a member of Sam's (I am not), so that is how I am aware of the huge price difference. When we joined, we did price comparisons and it definitely was advantageeous to join and justify the membership fee, however, those days are over! Also, beware. In 2021, BJ's renewed my membership to my surprise. Their website includes an "Automatic Renewal" option that renews your membership automatically unless you uncheck the option. It is a hidden option that I was totally unaware of. I am done with them. I can see that their overall ratings are not favorable, so I am not alone in my opinion. read more

This one employee works by the entrance, sitting at the "wipes/cleaning supplies for carts" table is extremely rude. She literally told my mom what to do such as to use the wipes when my mom was halfway reaching out to the cleaning spray bottle. After my mom threw the wipes in the trash can, this employee says:"good girl " to my mother like she's training a dog. My mom barely speaks English but I heard the whole conversation bc I was standing not too far from them. Their pickup is a joke which doesn't allow to purchase regular grocery items as they can be only bought as same day delivery for 15$/ delivery. It has what I need, and in a way that I can come home put it away and freeze it if need be if it's food for that and the prices are good. Things are getting very expensive now but I still like going to BJ's to get my everything I need. Im so afriad to speak on this but i have to get this off my chest i use to work here and i recently quit every sinced ive worked for this company ive been treated unfairly ive experienced racism,discrimination,and colorism and have been constantly harassed by manager and managers, just to let anyone who reads to know im not the first black person to leave I didnt want bring race into this but there where times when ive seen a white person get away with alot of stuff that i couldnt do ive seen a white person walk off mid way at work and managers did not say anything there were times like i said when im managers were constantly harassing me and making me feel singled out and a manager tried to set me up to get fired and there was this one time when i was closing and i was on my 15 min break and a manager came to me on my break and wanted me to come off my break all the years ive been working ive never experience nothing like that just working there made me feel like a slave i felt like managers were stocking me constantly coming to my department and watching me there were times i had panic attack working there and another thing too ive even spoke to the hr about how they were treating me and the hr manager said that its there job to come to my department and nothing that i said was harassment and the managers did nothing work and also working i felt like the managers favorited people who were coloured and dealed with them better so working here ive experienced alot and if your somebody whos darkskined or black do not work here most of the managers here are racist but they dont show and my co workers have told me some the managers are racist. Be careful, this establishment is not accepting cash at certain registers, like the tire / propane filling department! I called to see if they were open and was told yes, nothing else, so I went there to get my propane tank filled.. I just bought a pair of transitions lenses glasses from BJ's. I left the glasses in the car for 2 hours and the heat ruined them. I was never cautioned about leaving glasses in the car. They are unwilling to replace the lenses for free. Now I have ordered new lenses. I am trying to contact the store to check if they might be ready and I am unable to reach anyone. Bj's is an okay place to shop. They offer a military discount on memberships, which was really our driving force to join. And we had a birthday party to throw for about 50 people and buying everything in bulk was really the key to doing that for a reasonable amount. Bj's sends out coupons and those are great to use and can save you some money. The real trick of shopping here is to know the prices of what you'd get elsewhere. For example, you can get a great deal on K-cups here, but not as much on some personal beauty items. Sunday, however, is a terrible day to shop here. The place is a complete madhouse and the lines to check out are down the aisles. And the one thing that can be frustrating is that you put your items in the cart, check out, and then have just individual items to carry from your car to the house. Sometimes I don't want a bag or something to carry in, but other times it would be useful not to have small items just all over the car when I get home. Overall, if you do a lot of bulk shopping, you can get some good deals here and the membership price may be worth it. read more

BJ's is just an OK warehouse store. Best things are cheaper gas, cheap hot dogs (if you are hungry), and sometimes some good deals on large quantity grocery items. My biggest issue is the membership fee. It takes a long time to recover the cost unless you are shopping frequently for a large family. Also the checkout lines can be unacceptable long. I have walked out several times because the lines were too long and too inefficient if you just want an item or two. read more

Works out great for my family of 5. Everything is cheaper, and buying in bulk for us is the way to go. We even bought laundry detergent, trash bags and sandwiched bags all at drastic savings. The meats at BJ's are amazing, something to get caveman excited... Their bone in pork chops are thick and beautiful. And their cold cuts are $2 to $3 cheaper per pound than Walmart or Price Chopper and taste great. Buying in bulk may not work for every family, but it works perfectly for mine. read more
