This location is never crowded, so it's an easy stop for whatever you need. The prices are good. Lots of selections. There is a deli there which is the cheapest around. Friendly employees. Convenient gas station. Self check out is available as well as scan and go. read more

Parking lot is nearly empty, but parking spaces are 5 inches apart. Come on people, Costco got it right, just paint it like Costco. Have a warm and welcoming parking lot. So I've been here a few times and here's what my last experience was. New phone, reinstalled the BJs app while I was standing in the store, decided I was going to scan for expresspay. App was having issues where any time the screen went blank it could not access the camera when it woke up. Oh well, I reported that later to their app devs, the support channel, and we blown off with a 20 things to do before I contact them. I got everything paid for via expresspay - rock on. Got to the exit and the checker's device was dead. A line backed up behind me as she changed the battery and other workers came to assist getting people out because she was attempting to wait on the thing to boot. It finally booted and was running too slow to scan anything. Thing takes about 2-4 minutes to boot, and I'm standing there as people are walking by and she was trying to stop them, they'd been checked out/receipts marked by two other people. I suspect it was five minutes, maybe it was less, maybe it was more, but I was penalized for using their expresspay option and 20 or more people passed me as we waited for the equipment to boot. It wasn't terrible, but there was no backup plan, there was no backup device, I was going to be stuck there until that checker's tablet functioned and really 5 minutes is unacceptable when you've paid and there is literally NOBODY in front of you. read more

BJ's gas station is by far the cheapest in Smyrna, TN. I used to take surveys at Kroger for fuel points, but now I no longer have to. I avoid this gas station on weekends since it gets super busy, but the staff is always friendly. The store itself is similar to Sam's and Costco. I canceled both of those memberships but regret it--especially since Costco has a much better selection of Asian food. I recently joined BJ's Wholesale at the Goodlettesville location, so that is my go-to location due to proximity to my house, but on a recent trek to Mt. Juliet, I figured "why not?!" and popped in this BJ's. From a general customer of another location, nothing stood out about this store from the others, which is great...as consistency from location to location is key when you have a few brand favorites that are always on the list! As with the Rivergate location, I really enjoy the bulk meat prices at BJ's, I actually scooped up more chicken breasts while I was there. Did I need them, no...but that is not the point! Another thing I love about BJ's, are their colossal cookies that are only $1 at the stand and now can be bought in bulk for $5 - $6! The service was friendly, the store was clean, and everything was well-stocked. While Costco has them beat on clothing selection, I do enjoy BJ's brand, Berkley Jensen. Especially their athleisure. Gas prices are always better here too...so, the membership price is honestly worth the gas savings at all locations. While I'm not giving up my Costco membership just yet, I enjoy what BJ's offers. This location is solid, not in my 'hood, but a good option when back in the area. read more

These are first impressions, and will likely change in the visits ahead. For comparison, we're also COSTCO members. * Check in process to get a physical BJ's membership card was efficient and quick. Clerk is incented to upsell the CapitalOne credit card. Oddly, no photo on the membership card like COSTCO. Suggests they don't care who uses the card. * The store has been open only a few days. Early shoppers appear to be mostly curiosity shoppers. Few had their cart loaded like a COSTCO visit. * Aisles are wide, and shelves were fully stocked * No delay to check out * Selection: limited selection of fresh herbs and jarred spices. You'll still need Kroger and Publix * Pharmacy / Personal Care: No pharmacy. Limited selection of Nature Made vitamins. Only Gillette and store brand razors; no Schick razors * Spot Price Check: Fresh green beans more expensive than Publix. Dairy prices lower than the area. * Parking Lot Convenience. Easy in and out off Adams Lane. Way too few places to return your carts. Less convenient cart return compared with Kroger or Walmart. I anticipate that some shoppers won't make the extra effort to return carts, and will clutter the parking lot. * Yes, Wine and Beer License: I did not check selection or prices. * Gas is only Regular (87 octane) and Premium (91 octane), and diesel. I notice that once BJ's Gas opened, area gas prices dropped 15+ cents. Love the competition. Wide, convenient lanes and fully covered. * All major credit cards accepted, unlike COSTCO (Visa only). I have Sam's Club, Costco, and now BJ's memberships. BJ's is about to get kicked to the curb. I literally kept the membership going because of the one dollar giant cookies at the deli. But the deli doesn't have much variety, only cheap hotdogs, sodas, and big pretzels. They just raised the price of the giant cookies from a dollar to $2.50. May not sound like much but when you have six kids, it makes a big difference. there's a reason why people wait in long lines to get access to anything at Costco, the quality and service are superior. The price and variety is when you'll pay because the experience is better. BJ's is always a ghost town, and the project lacks the same experience. won't be rejoining. read more

Loved BJs. Was quite a nice surprise after hearing it was soooo much more expensive than Sam's or Costco. Now it is a little smaller than Sam's, but great selection and pricing. And they had coupons. I got a lot of great deals and the door person was super friendly. Store was clean and well stocked. Definitely will go back! read more

You have to hunt someone down if you have a question had to wake up the guy to check me out he was sleeping on a stack of Pepsi's at the checkout. didn't check online and walked in because I was low on fuel and looking for a discount. I approached the desk and added I am a small business owner AND disabled veteran what is the best rate and was told $110 a year. after checking online later that is a lie. I could have joined for $25 with a $10 credit to my account or or could have joined for $110 and got a $80 welcome reward and $40 in coupons. The premium fuel is only 92 octane and being singe would only shop there a couple of times a year. I joined BJs in March 2024 and it just did not work for me. I really didn't care for the store plus I buy a lot of cat food and they didn't carry the brands that I buy. This morning 1/1/2025, when checking my bank account, BJs charged me a $60.00 membership fee. It hasn't even been a year since I joined and I surely was not going to renew it. I will be demanding an immediate refund. They gave no notice to me they would be doing this and will get my money back. Customers be aware that this company is going to do this to you too. I have been a Sam's club member and they didn't do anything like this. I am very angry about this and believe me, I will get my money back. This sucks. read more
