My family and I went to the Corn Maze and Cider Donut Festival located at Lyman Orchards, on Labor Day weekend. This was one of the food trucks there. Since I'm new to CT, I've never had New Haven style pizza. Well on this day, it was my first time having it. There was a short line but it moved fast; we got there just in time because there was a long line behind us. They were actively making the pizzas; I saw a woman kneading the dough. Their specialty is making thin crust pizzas in a wood fired brick oven, that is in the food truck. I had a slice of their bacon mashed potato pizza; wow! It was amazing. The dough was chewy and lightly charred. The mashed potatoes and bacon went really well together on a pizza, there was a hint of sweetness. My son and husband had the pepperoni pizza slices; I tried a bite of that and it was also good. Because of this, I am definitely a fan of New Haven style pizza! read more

Nevertheless we've had the privilege of having some pizzas made by the New Haven Pizza Truck, for an aftershow party at the Westville Music Bowl. Totally delicious! We happened upon the truck when it was parked at Rosabianca Vineyard this past Friday night. We ordered a Mashed Potato pizza. So hard to believe it came from a truck! Granted I think it was $22 for a one size med/large-ish pizza, but it was damn good. Dollops of mashed potatoes, a scattering of caramelized onions and a sprinkle of bacon. Gluten free pizza upon request. Yassss! The service at the family event I attended was less than friendly. My husband tried to ask for a certain combination of ingredients for a pizza and the girl working at the truck turned away to get the answer (we guess) and then just never turned back to gave him an answer to his question. The regular (non-GF) pizza flavors that I can remember are: sliced meatball, buffalo chicken, bacon mashed potato and carmelized onions, veggie, sliced fresh mozzarella, "New Haven style" which look like cheese with a bunch of seasoning and herb flakes, and sausage. I can't say enough good things about the quality of food, the friendliness of the employees and the whole overall experience. In which ever fair I spot this truck, there is a big line in front of it. So I finally decided to give it a shot during 2018 Hartford riverfront truck festival. The menu was small. Only 4 variety of pizza. I went for margarita pizza. It was really good. I felt it was slightly less in salt, but had good flavors. I could not believe it came from a truck. They did a good job setting up a brick oven on the back of a truck. The guy who took the order (may be the owner) was very friendly. Our company rented the New Haven Pizza Truck for a company picnic. It was a great experience from start to finish. Lisa who coordinated everything was friendly, professional, and available to answer any and all questions I had leading up to the event. The pizza truck itself was cute. Waited for two hours for a pizza at Rossabianca vineyard, when they finally called our number they told us they didn't have the pizza we wanted. No one told us there would be such an extreme wait. Service was completely inconsiderate. They need to seriously improve their time management if they want to continue their business. They blamed their wait on being slammed by Labor Day Weekend but made no announcement or attempt to notify their dozens of waiting patrons. They arrived exactly when they said that they would arrive, setup and where ready to go for our event at 5pm. They catered an event I had to celebrate my son's life around the 10th anniversary of his tragic death. It was at Wickham Park in Manchester with about 60 people. They were awesome.
