I have not shopped or had a membership here in over 20 years! But my roommate could enroll me free with his membership and I finally had time to drop in. I wandered the whole store and enjoyed myself. I am obsessed with the aesthetic because it's so easy to see everything since it is "bulk". The prices are clear as can be. The store is clean. As someone who shops WAY TOO MUCH, it was easy to price compare. In some instances, I pulled out my phone and searched Walmarts prices. What I found was most items were equal in price to size (just in bulk size here) OR a little cheaper. A few things were significantly but not a lot. For the savings to really add up, I think you would have to be someone who has a really huge tribe to shop for. For me, I do not. My favorite deal were the acai bowls. Those I can definitely save money buying here.. I bought some clothes too (a dress, a scalloped sweater, and flares). All of the bulk drink packages were a nice price. They have clothes for all ages and genders. I would say the price matches the quality in these terms. Remember when shopping here how much space you have in your fridge/freezer - this is the biggest battle in my home because my roommate LOVES their frozen food section lol Aside from a full grocery store and clothing, they also have electronics, baby items... actually let me sum it up by saying they carry a lot of what a super walmart would: only it's bulk size. They have registers and self-checkout. I found staff helpful when needed. I found the customers the best part for me ... There's a wonderful gentleman in the optical department named Eric who is awesome! They give customers the opportunity to use their app and you can "clip" coupons to the app so you get the reduced price when you check out without the hassle of cutting out the actual coupons. They have a good selection of frozen food, toiletries, paper products, canned goods, snacks, vitamins and supplements, small appliances, televisions, laundry and cleaning products, clothing, beer, a nice bakery-by no means is this a complete list. I have never had any issues with the wholesale club before. However, I needed to deal with the tire center so I called to find out if this location carried the tires that I was looking for and what the price would be. I knew exactly what tire I wanted to purchase and the size. But the person who answered the phone told me. I had to drive to the store, and they would look up to see if they had them or if they had to be ordered. I explained that I wanted the price to determine whether I ever wanted to come out there, and he said he couldn't do it over the phone. So I drove twenty minutes to the store all night to find that there was no one at the register. I waited for overhafe an hour and no one came in. Two other people came in after me who also waited in the waiting room. I finally called the store. Because I didn't want to go out into the Bay where they were working and ask somebody to come up to the register. The gentleman who came to the register was very rude, and he complained that they were busy doing installations, and that's why there was nobody at the counter. I asked Tim to give me a price for the tires that I wanted. And he looked him up and told me that they don't carry that specific tire. When I tell them that I was very frustrated about having to drive there when they could have done that over the phone in 2 minutes. Normally we love this place. After yesterday, not so much. BJ's is allowing A T & T to operate a scam inside their store. After a very aggressive hard sell from an A T & T rep inside BJ's, we thought about switching our mobile service to them, but upon finding out we needed to shell out $361 in taxes immediately, we declined. After we left the store we received an email that all four of the lines with our current carrier had been switched to A T & T. After many attempts to resolve this, we learned that the A T & T rep installed a port in my husband's phone to transfer service. She had asked for his phone to see what model it was because we were going to receive upgraded phones for free. She apparently installed the port at that time. A complete nightmare getting things back to normal and I fear this may not be the end yet. We won't deal with it on our own anymore if that happens. An attorney will be involved. BJ's denied any connection with A T & T. So why did you allow them to set up shop in your store? There's something highly suspicious going on here. read more

I'm a member of this club for maybe 10 years plus already and for the first time that I got so disappointed. I used to buy honey ham in this club and I never had complaints except this evening. The ham that she gave me is like 70% fat with so little meat. I didn't noticed it until we're home. The part of the ham that lady cut for me is like the end part of the ham because they're so tiny pieces. For God sake why do they have to sell this part. I took photos of it and if they want me to show them the photos I can send to them. This is so frustrating. It's like buying the fats of a ham. I wish I had read the reviews BEFORE I bought tires at this place. We decided to purchase tires here because it seemed like a deal. There are a dozen places to buy tires within a mile in any direction, but this seemed like the best price, and so I bought the tires online, ship to the store, and made an appointment to have the tires installed. I received an online receipt for the tires and emailed confirmation for the appointment. The email said the tire department was open until 7pm, so we watched the Bills game (Go Bills!) and then drove over to drop my car off. But when we arrived there was no one in the tire department. Apparently, the tire department closes at 4 on Sundays. "Yes, your confirmation email said that, sorry about that. Just leave your keys at the Customer Service Desk." It was a sign, a big red flag. But I did not realize it at the time. The next day, I get a call. The tires I ordered are not the right ones for my car. Yes they match the numbers (235/55R18), but no they are the wrong ones. We have another set a little different, a little more expensive. Strange, but I need tires now, so okay I guess. A second red flag. I was busy at work though. I arrived at 4 o'clock to pick up my car. No one was in the office. But my keys and paperwork were sitting on the desk, where anyone could grab it. Annoying but okay. And then I waited, and waited, and waited. At 4:45 I went inside to the Customer Service desk, and took my paperwork with me. I just wanted to pay for the tires and go. "No can do." The lady says, "The computer system inside is different than the one in the tire center." "They are really short handed". "I will call out there and he will meet you at the desk." Back out to the tire department I go. And I waited, and waited, and waited. Finally, at 5:15, I walked around to the bay doors, walked in and asked the guy, can I please just pay for my tires. He says I'm really busy , can you give me 5 minutes. Sure Buddy, I already gave you 75 minutes, but sure. And again, I just want to PAY. The tires were already installed. 10 minutes later he comes in, and tells me I have to take this to the Customer Service Desk! I was just there! So back in I go, and they refund the tires, and then let me pay for the other tires. I am talking to the manager, and I am beyond steamed, and I told her, I realize this not necessarily your fault, but how long would you wait before getting angry. And all she kept saying was, well, this was corporate's fault. And they get complaints all the time. But nothing can be done. And yes she knows it sucks, but what are you gonna do? But "next time will be better". Next time? NEXT TIME? Lady, i learned a lesson - I am never buying tires here again. And you shouldn't either. read more

I don't personally have a need for major bulk items but I suppose if you have a large family or people to share your deals with then BJ's may be a find. I think I have an issue with the concept of calling it a "club". It's not really a club, it's a marketing concept of "you pay for the pleasure of shopping here". That doesn't interest me. I can shop at target for free. From the app, they'll even shop for me and bring it to my car and load it in. For free. And I did not see the savings by shopping in bulk on the items I would be purchasing. A bit of an illusion if you ask me. Produce seemed priced like everywhere else. Maybe there are items I don't usually pick up that others see as a deal? They have for me, in the freezer section, Cheesecake Factory plain cheesecake. So score! As for checking out, a friendly associate skittered over to assist when needed. But I could definitely do without the young man at the exit who supposedly checks your receipt and items and marks it with an X. BJ's was a lifesaver at the height of the pandemic as one of the few places consistently stocked with toilet tissue, hand sanitizer, hand soap, lysol wipes and what became other high demand essential needs. Even now, it's one of the first go-to places. They are always clean, well-stocked, and meeting pretty much all of your needs. I have also been impressed with their COVID-19 safety procedures. They enforce their face masks mandate and usually have someone stationed there to remind you to place it in before entering. They have a sanitation station as soon as you walk in. During the peak, they offered an assortment of gloves in all sizes and hand sanitizer and cleaning products to wipe things and clean carts. They also arrange their lines in a manner that enforced social distancing. I love their bakery. They have so many things they offer and they actually still bake in their bakery unlike their opponents. Thanks to their store coupons and specials they offer, you can usually find a nice cake on sale or a good deal on just about anything. I also love stopping at their deli. Bj's always has a good stock of items that have coupons or couponless sales. This is unlike the local supermarkets that seem to stock minimal quantities of sale items causing them to run out and have to give rainchecks. This location is always clean and neat. However, they seem to have a serious understaffing problem. It is hard to find someone if you have a question or can't find something (they seem to move item locations very often). On this visit the problem was with checkout. They had one register with a cashier and a line that had about 6 people with carts packed full. After I waited a good 20 minutes and was next in line, they finally opened another register. They have self checkouts open but when I have a lot in my cart I prefer a cashier line. If they fixed the staffing issues this would easily be a 5 star location. read more

If this particular BJ's on transit Road in Williamsville offered even average customer service, they would have earned a fourth or maybe even a fifth star. Alas, they do not. Starting from the offerings of this wonderful chain, they have family sized and bulk items in every category, food, produce, canned goods, health and beauty, cleaning supplies, an inventory that is comprehensive and of varying quality from Basic no-frills, to high-end. Their audiovisual section alone is impressive with televisions on display from normal sized all the way through 86 inches. Same thing with cameras, iPhones, iPads, computer printers. This store and all BJ's are excellent if you are looking for variety. They also have clothing, books, and seasonal items that run the gamut. If you need help finding something, or an opinion on the best product for the price, get in line. Their staff is generally hard-working, and dedicated, but they are focused entirely on either checking people out, restocking shelves, preventing shoplifting, or cleaning the place. They simply do not have a customer service staff. The exception is their meat counter which has a knowledgeable staff to guide you.If you go to the desk to ask for a manager, you will find that the two or three people in the entire store designated a manager has so many requests for assistance that you will wait close to an hour for assistance. Many of the BJ's I have been to have excellent customer service plus all of the other advantages of this branch. Someone has consciously made the decision to apply the efforts of all staff members to checking people out and restocking shelves and cleaning because that is what improves the bottom line which is the metric by which the managers are ultimately judged. So, if you are entirely a self-help type customer, you will do just fine at the store. If you want to know how the Samsung or LG TVs compare, or Canon vs Nikon, or whether A certain granulated chlorine Will be better for your pool than another, you are completely on your own. read more

I prefer buying my produce in small quantities so it doesn't go bad. They have a big box of cat food, but it's not always in stock, a quarter of the cans are turkey, which my cats hate (they get that from me). So I prefer just getting a bunch of single cans of food I know my cats like rather than get a box with a bunch of cans they will not enjoy. I usually shop at BJs on Sheridan. But I've been to this location a number of times over the past year. Parking is better here than at Sheridan. This is a large store, like most of them. I like the layout and since I go when it's not too crowded it's usually in and out for me. I also tend not to buy food here but rather various drink choices and other non food items. Purchased four Michelin snow tires . Made my appoint, arrived and was greeted by a friendly staff member. I Waited while the tires where installed and I was keep up to date. I was told around an hour or so. One hour later they car was ready. Checked out and was ask to come back in 50 miles so that the lug nuts can be double check to be re-torqued. After several years of being a BJs member we realized that this (and all other stores) store charges customers a NY sales tax on original prices even if the item is in sale, discounted by the store or the manufacturer. NY taxation law clearly states that stores need to charge tax on original prices when the items are discounted by the manufacturer (eg manufacturer coupon), but NOT if the item is discounted by the seller. BJs charges customers a sales tax on original and not sale prices, even when the sale is a BJs sale or discounted coupon and that should be illegal! Check your receipts! I will be moving on to another club! Just joined today. The first thing I noticed was the enormous shopping carts. What if you only need a few things? The next thing was that most of the employees AND most of the customers were also enormous. Is warehouse shopping so attractive to obese people? I wanted to try it out because a friend says he gets adult underwear for his wife in convenient large packages and my husband also has an incontinence problem. I found that the name brand was about the same price as Target and they only had size Small/Medium and Extra Large in the generic men's underwear. My husband needs size Large. I checked the price of greeting cards. Most of the ordinary ones were marked 6.99, so even with the 20% off, that is way too much! I used the self-checkout, which did save time. I signed up for a membership knowing I was moving with-in the year. Because of this I specifically asked if memberships auto-renew and was told "No, it only renews if you use the BJ's credit card". Of course this was not true and they charged me for another year. When I called to get it reversed it took 30 minutes to get to a real person (after repeated recordings that the wait time was 5 minutes). The person who answered then couldn't find my account, then told me they couldn't look up the credit card number they charged, but then kept insisting my refund would be given after making me jump through hoops without asking for the credit card number to refund it to. I doubt I will receive my refund without having to contact the BBB. read more

It's soul sucking, it makes you deeply question American consumerism. And yet, it's intoxicating. This location now has a deli and rotisserie chickens. They often give out free samples, and people go ape-shit over that. I mean, really?? It's a tiny cup with like 4 mini-Keebler fudge stripe cookies in it. They're not worth the frenzy!!! Even though the clientele here can be complete savages, I come in here every so often for croissants, sugar substitutes, milk, eggs, half and half, and sometimes other crap, but I hate it. Well I love it and hate it at the same time. And now that I've scoped out their optical section, they've earned a lower star rating from me. Their frames are pitiful. Just as comatose and hateful as dragging yourself through the aisles here. I don't even get how optical shops like this still exist! The snack bar is terrible too. Like seriously, so bad. What is the point of this being here, too? They'd be better off putting a Starbucks in, or better yet, a freaking McDonald's! Some of my favorite products: - 32oz of cream cheese at once (critical for the Christmas time appetizers) - pre-portioned chicken tenderloin cutlets ready to throw in the freezer - generally we buy chicken and portion it out in freezer bags anyways, and not only does this cut out that steop for us, but it's cheaper, too! - cases of life water / club soda / pop / anything you drink more than 2 of a week - the entire frozen section - detergent and shampoo We buy very little from the "grocery" aisles because I find it goes to waste, but when it comes to things I can freeze, I go crazy! read more

I am trying to figure out why the bad reviews, no one gives any details except that they don't like big box stores ...UM, So I don't know why they bother to shop at them?! I find this BJ's has good selection, good prices and no one forces you to buy things you prefer in smaller quantities...duh, not the point of warehouse stores! You encounter the same problems with produce here as you do in any similar membership stores and Walmart...its trucked in from who knows where for who how long. The key is to get what works...like papergoods, detergents, etc. Perfect for snack bars and restaurants and people who NEED bulk purchases... or once a month or two stock up items. That does not make it a bad store, it makes it a store for a select market. If you don't like fish you don't review a seafood store. I purchase tires and get free rotations here as well. Someone thinks this location is closing, I have not heard that I have heard that Sam's Club in Jamestown is. Get good deals on gas especially if you keep in touch with different promotions they run where you can save an extra $0.10 or more doing your purchases first, or making a purchase of two items such as laundry detergent. The savings add up. It's a good size store without being too big or too busy... have been stuck in Costco's in Georgia and other places where it takes forever to do your shopping trip. I think BJ's in general can sometimes be overwhelming, which may explain why people do not have very many stars selected. I've never been to Costco, and I don't have a Sam's club membership, so I can't compare to other wholesale stores. I have been to both this location and the Sheridan Drive location. I personally have never had an issue at this location. They have parking, there are always carts available, they offer both cashiers and self checkout, every aisle is nicely labeled, they carry both brand names and BJ's brand. The aisles are nice and spacious, the floors are always clean and for how busy the store is, that's an impressive feat. They have a ton of selections too. I love that they do have sample stands, because it really does help sway my decision. I mean, buying a box of 60 pieces of tilapia is a pretty big commitment! You need to know how it'll taste! The stands will also hand out coupons for that product, so it's really nice. Especially because I'll spend hours clipping coupons, only to get to the store and realize I've left them all at home. If you don't have a large family, aren't having a big event, or preparing for the zombie apocalypse ... BJ'S may not be the right choice for you, but if you are, it's a great place to shop and the bargains are there. read more

The cereal selection is lame and there are better deals at WalMart as much as it pains me to say that. Never enough employees around to help. The items in the cake section are pretty but flavorless. It would be negative if I could do that. I just drove 50 miles round trip because this BJ's because my local BJ's did not have the item in stock. I went online, placed my order, paid by credit card and then was told to pickup my item today between 4-5pm. I printed my confirmation, drove 25 miles to the store, in rush hour traffic, to pickup my article. When I got there, there was a sign that said to check in here for online pickups. But, after waiting at that spot, I was told I had to wait in the Customer Service line with 4 people in front of me. When I finally got up there, 2 people tried to find my order; the second was a supervisor, she said it was cancelled. I said why? Here's my confirmation sheet. She said we don't fill the orders until 2:00 pm and they must have sold out. Are the items not pulled when an online order comes through? This isn't perishable... it was toilet paper. The explanation for me was, Corporate set up the system and they are the only one who can change it. I had a severe reaction to the BJ's brand napkins. There must be some chemical in the napkins that caused my skin to swell around my lips. I discontinued their napkins and my skin returned to normal within one week. read more
