For food, they have a good Sahlens hot dog and their chicken fingers are good .. you can get small (3 fingers) or large (5 I think) and it comes with curly fries but you can change it to something else like onion rings or Cajun fries for an upcharge. Also included 1 dip of choice. Ken's is the brand of blue cheese if you so choose that one. And, your positioning depends on all sides, which brings me to Anderson's on Main Street and perhaps my reflection on all of the Anderson's chain. First, an immediate loss of a star because ONLY ONE EMPLOYEE wore a mask tonight. Clearly management does not care about the health of their customers nor their employees during these days of COVID 19 (I lost a friend who worked front end at a restaurant and wore a mask but breathed in the coronavirus from someone.). I thanked the young man for caring about my health and his fellow employees health. So, right there you had the ups of one young man's caring heart and awareness of science versus the downs of every other employee's disregard for all. I will admit that I am not a fan of Anderson's Beef on Weck but that is personal and most of my friends love their beef on weck. So that's an up but the prices have escalated to the extreme bringing the Anderson's meal experience perhaps to that balancing point of good food in contrast with high prices. The ultimate food product that Anderson's is known for is the ice cream. And, yes the ice cream is good! The sundaes delicious. And, the price still reasonable! So it's all on the upswing! Being such a beautiful day we decided to go get an ice cream. My favorite type of ice cream is frozen custard so off to Andersons we went. As usual we stared at the menu for a few minutes but no idea why. I pretty much always get the same thing, either a plain chocolate or a twist soft serve cone. Today I went with the chocolate. My husband got the daily special which I think was called jamoca (coffee flavored). Neither of us are much into toppings which actually I think allows us a better chance to enjoy the taste of the ice cream. Kinda like with drinking coffee black to get the full flavor. The chocolate was very creamy and tasted great. My husband said the jamoca was a little weak in coffee flavor. Split vote. Looks like they added more seating outside with several picnic tables nicely spread out. There was someone walking around cleaning each table as people left. The inside and order counters seemed to be maintaining good social distancing. Guess we'll have to come back again to see how they handle a big crowd. Labor Day weekend disaster. Went in for hand packed pints of ice cream to serve guests. Not a long line. Ordered 2 pints. Different flavors. Waited to be packed. Paid almost $17 incl tip. Got home. Put in freezer. Never thought to look inside. That night when I served I discovered not a pint in each, maybe 50% in one flavor and 75% in other. Packed loosely. Not really enough to serve my company. I tried to go online to fill out the Contact form to let my disappointment be known. That effort x 3 did not work. Don't be discouraged by Even when there is a line it's never The Beef on Weck is a Buffalo must and Anderson's does it right. Loaded with roast beef and cooked to perfection. They will even supply a side of Au Jus with a smile. If beef isn't desired then the Buffalo Style Chicken Tinder Sandwich is a winner! It is a huge serving and most definitely filling. Sides are a la carte. The highlight of the food menu however is the Kid's menu. One main, one side, a drink, and a complementary token for ice cream or soft serve. The awesome part is the variety. There are eleven main items, ten different side options, and six drink options! There is more than enough food to fill a hungry kid. The token is a nice option to have if you want to return later for your dessert. DESSERT: Anderson's serves the house soft serve including frozen custard, frozen yogurt, and dairy free, even vegan options occasionally. They also have a nice selection of Perry's ice cream. Anderson's custard is more dense and creamier than Nina's which has a similar and for that it is superior. The only soft serve creamier is De Dee's but the drive is discouraging. Top this cold delights with all the Sundae toppings including rich house whipped cream. Smoothies (dairy and non dairy) and hot chocolate create a nice well rounded dessert menu. Look to the coolers on your left for carry out items. They have cakes, pies, ice cream cookie sandwiches, and pints of your favorites! The Sundae bar is a nice party option for those who have to entertain at home. Half priced cones when it snows! Five stars for Anderson's frozen custard. You can't help but feel happy when you walk inside. It's bright, there are treats everywhere, and the staff greets you with a smile. It's usually fairly busy, but you never have to wait too long. I love getting the chocolate/vanilla twist custard. It's my absolute favorite soft serve. I also love their moose tracks ice cream. You can't beat those hunks of chocolate peanut butter cups. They have virtually any ice cream flavor you could wish for as well as some hot food items like sandwiches like beef on weck (which a family member told me was good). There's plenty of seating inside, and it's a great place to come with large groups. Big parking lot out front so you'll always find a space. I love the nostalgic vibes at Anderson's. Anderson's will always be my favorite ice cream place. In kindergarten got to go on a private field trip due to having the owners daughter Inga in my class! Still best field trip to this day. I think up until middle school my blood type was 50% lemon ice. The Williamsville location isn't as busy as Sheridan but there is a lot more indoor seating with a nice decor. Comes out perfect every time and just hits the spot. I'll take it over anywhere else's anyday. Go Carl's choice, perfect amount of meat to roll, which you MUST get kimmelweck. Other items of note are the curly fries and buffalo tender sandwich. Just take my word, eat and enjoy. On to the desserts. I already professed my love for lemon ice but sometimes they have other ice flavors worth getting. They will mix them together if you please to. There is a huge selection of hard ice cream which will have a flavor for any taste your in the mood for. I have not had a bad flavor but love the key lime pie, and the sponge candy. Most recently I sampled the bubblegum which nailed the flavor, and was filled with real bubblegum pieces. Their arctic swirls blow away a blizzard any day. If they only sold canned ham, or if they constantly sent you unsolicited promotional emails, then they would be known as Spamdersons. But they don't. So they're not. What to get: Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich. What else is good: Beef On Weck, Ice Cream. I have to update this review because I come here quite regularly. The Chicken Tender sandwich is nowhere near as good as the chicken finger subs of the region, which are perfected by Mia Mangia, Johnny C's, Mike's on Delaware, and others. The Beef On Weck is surprisingly one of the best in the region, but Charlie The Butcher is better. If you're in Buffalo and you have some kids with you, this is a really safe bet. It's great for kids and some of their items are actually really good. By the way if you only come here to use the toilet, you may as well call it Candersons. So about those items - - The Beef On Weck is good, it's tasty, it's small, but Charlie The Butchers is better, but not too many others in the area taste as good as Andersons (surprisingly) - The Sponge Candy Ice Cream they sell is amazing and very Buffalo - made by Perry's though, and that sucks because it means Anderson's really has nothing to do with it. - The Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich is fantastic and very very Buffalo - juicy and hot and yummy, but as I said, nowhere near as good as those other aforementioned Chicken Finger subs (which are a Buffalo specialty) - The Soft Serve is absolutely delicious, it's the Buffalo version of Rochester's Abbott's... it's wonderful. I highly recommend it. There are a few better places to get it here (Green Acres, and a location of Abbott's here, and the amazing Hibbard's in Lewiston), but Anderson's is superior to most in WNY. If Mr. Stoker who wrote Dracula owned this place, it would be called Bramdersons. But he doesn't. So it's not. The Buffalo Tender sandwich I mentioned, it's basically a couple of chicken fingers on what appears to be a Costanza Roll (Buffalo's best rolls), and it's delicious and yumstastical. Love it. Love it. Hot, juicy, tasty, very well done. My one gripe is that the lettuce they put on it is often withering and old. But let's not split heirs over it. That's what Guillotines are for. If your mother's mother came here a lot, they'd call it Grandersons. Actually, if she's still with us, she probably does. So yes you must bring your kids here. I've heard the fries and gravy are good too but here's a secret... Americans don't know how to make chips (fries) so yeah. Sorry. Anyway where were we. Oh yes. If all the girls that worked here were super hot Hooters types then it would be Glamdersons. But those kinds of girls tend to work at Tullys or Brick House or... um... Hooters. Or Pharoah's. Ahem.
