I enjoyed the decor and while it was spring break on campus could see it as a bustling site. The sandwich was a combination BLT and a grilled turkey and cheese sandwich. The bacon was crusty, the toasted bread had a nice crunch and none of the parts overwhelmed each other. The pickle I got on the side was crisp and not overly garlicky. I stopped in to Cheesy Chick as part of a Yelp Elite event and got to try a free sample of their Mac N' Nachos; mac and cheese topped with nacho chips. The place itself is very quaint, and I know it's been around for a while--I have actually enjoyed their food previously when their food truck visited my workplace. The people working there were extraordinarily kind, attentive, and pleasant. The atmosphere was entirely charming. I could have taken a lot of time touring their knick knacks. I was excited for this yelp elite event because the grilled cheese I previously had from their food truck was unbelievably good. Maybe my expectations were too high, based on that earlier experience, or maybe the flavor of this particular dish just didn't land quite right for my palate. It is also possible that I was confused what I was leaving with. When I walked in, I told the person that I was there for the elite event and they said to wait a second because cookies are coming out of the oven and she didn't want to send me out with a burnt cookie... so maybe I was a little disappointed that after giving me the container they asked me if I wanted to buy anything else. I understand they are running a business, and the approach felt a bit... misdirection-ed? I took the food back to my workplace and found myself a bit underwhelmed. The mac and cheese wasn't bad; actually, it was good. Still, I have a palate that likes bold flavor. The flavor was there. Tasted like some black pepper, maybe some smoked paprika? It was good. It definitely wasn't as bold as I might have expected. If I'd had some hot sauce handy, I would have enjoyed it far more? Also, I guess somewhat parenthetically, one of the chips fell out of the container, and when I tried it on its own, I was surprised it didn't seem very fresh; just slightly squishy to the bite. The owner is so nice always willing to chat and the food is yummy and prepared with love and care. Their location on main is a touch cramped but it's cute inside with enough seating. The staff is very friendly and greets you upon arrival. The business also has paintings all around that when purchased a portion of profits are donated to the special olympics. The menu has breakfast and lunch/dinner items. Very small looking from the outside, but has room to sit and dine inside. There are also some games in the dining area. The buffalo chicken grilled cheese was delicious! The addition of the bbq sauce with the tenders and cheese really gives it a delightful taste. Apparently this was in my drafts for quite some time but I need to make sure it's shared! I have to start by saying, I'm not a huge fan of grilled cheese so coming here on my own without having the Yelp event, would probably not have happened. Now that I have, it will not be my last time! The location is super convenient as I'm always driving through williamsville to get somewhere. The parking lot is nice because it's off street parking and it's super easy to get in and out of. The cafe is small but there are plenty of tables to dine in but we had some errands so we got our food to go. The Yelp offer was just their standard grilled cheese but also came with soup and the choices were tomato or broccoli cheddar. I went with the broccoli and it was very good! I've seen their food trucks many times but this was the first time at their brick and mortar location. We decided to try a few things. First up was the Philly grilled cheese. It was loaded with the philly style steak and gooey mozzarella cheese. The peppers and onions added a nice crisp. The pizza Sammie was not only loaded with pepperoni but also had it on the outside of a sandwich. That was a pleasant surprise since I love pepperoni. There was just enough marinara sauce to coat the sandwich and not overpower it and thr garlic butter toast had a nice amount of garlic. Both sandwiches were a bit greasey but not bad enough to stop me from ordering again. For Mac and cheese dishes we ordered the philly Mac and cheese (guess we like philly steak) and the Buffalo Mac and cheese. The philly was pretty much like the sandwich but on mac and cheese. Tasted fine. The Buffalo's chicken was nice and tender and juicy. Not dry at all. I actually could have used a little more hot sauce and less bbq sauce. I'll request that next time. This place was very cute. It's kind of tucked away so you really have to look for it. I loved how homey it felt and we were warmly greeted as soon as we walked in. I forgot to take pictures of the most important thing, the food, but it was quite good! I ordered the pesto grilled cheese and added chicken and the tomato soup. My boyfriend got the chili Mac & cheese. I loved the soup, the grilled cheese was pretty good too! The Mac & cheese could have used a bit more flavor for my liking, but it was still good. One of the best things was that they had an entire separate menu for gluten free, and for vegan & vegetarian. Being a grilled cheese place, I wasn't expecting that. At Taste of Buffalo 2019, I stopped by The Cheesy Chick's food truck and sampled one of their sandwiches and picked up a coupon. Well, it's taken me over two years but I FINALLY made it to The Cheesy Chick's shop in downtown Williamsville and had a wonderful experience! I pulled in on a Friday around 12:45pm and pulled right into a spot by the front door - the parking lot is small, but it never seems to be completely full whenever I've driven by. The interior was warm and cozy with a surprising number of tables to sit at. I walked up to the counter and perused the menu and had a lovely conversation with the two women working in the kitchen. They were very friendly and courteous! After chatting for a couple minutes, I placed my order and was able to use my coupon to get $2 off my combo meal. I took a seat at one of the tables and relaxed for maybe 5-10 minutes before my meal was brought to me. For my combo meal, I ordered the Philly Steak sandwich with a side of Buffalo Bill Mac'n mac-n-cheese. The Philly Steak is Philly-style steak with peppers and onions and BBQ sauce drizzled on top, melted mozzarella cheese inside a Texas Toast basic grilled cheese. The sandwich was excellent! The bread was perfectly toasted with a buttery, crispy bite every time. The Philly-style steak was hot and tender with that authentic Philly steak grease and flavor - perfect in a grilled cheese. The peppers and onions were lightly cooked in a frying pan but not all the way, so they added a nice, crisp texture. The BBQ sauce was drizzled on generously without getting messy. The mozzarella cheese was creamy and blended well with the American cheese melted in the sandwich. The size of the sandwich was pretty standard - not small but not big either, fitting nicely in-between. The Buffalo Bill Mac'n mac-n-cheese side has grilled chicken strips, cubed up to fit the "side"-size bowl, with hot sauce and BBQ sauce drizzle with mozzarella all placed on top of their Mac-n-Cheese. This was pretty good but I wish it was just a little bit cheesier. The grilled chicken was properly cooked and had a nice flavor - this added a bit of heft to this side. The hot sauce and BBQ sauce were generously drizzled on top. I didn't really taste the mozzarella cheese though. The macaroni was cooked exactly as I expected, but again, I just wish it was a bit cheesier. All-in-all though, I did enjoy this side! This combo meal was the perfect portion for lunch - I left full and happy without feeling stuffed. I'm so glad I finally was able to grab lunch at The Cheesy Chick! The staff were great and the food was delicious. The next time I come I may ask for extra cheese on my Mac-n-Cheese for that ultimate cheese overload. But maybe I'll order one of their dessert-style sandwiches instead, that Nutella sandwich sounds tasty. :) read more
