    Crab Fried Rice
    Kathy K.

This Thai restaurant in Midtown Manhattan in NYC offers a contemporary take on Bangkok street food. We arrived after 6pm without a reservation and they seated us as long as we were out for a 8pm reservation. The atmosphere is nice. We started with the Pak Mor appetizer $18 and the I had the Crab Fried Rice $34 and they were delicious but the fried rice could have been more flavorful. I was told the short ribs were very fatty and hard to eat. The service was nice and efficient.

The restaurant has a clubby feel with dark decor and dance music playing. The servers are well-trained and work as a team. They kept my water glass full. The food is a combination of their interpretation of traditional Thai dishes and NY inspired Thai dishes. We ordered two main dishes, a branzino dish and a tofu dish. Nothing was particularly spicy, but it all tasted fine. We had to request a side of white rice. I asked about traditional condiments. They were not brought with the meal. Their Nam Pla Prik had an odd, but not unpleasant, flavor and included garlic. Afterward, we were full, but still ordered dessert. The mango sticky rice was delicious, but at $15, I thought it was overpriced.

Excellent food but a bit pricey for what it is. The green veggie curry is $32, while at even the most expensive Thai restaurants (Fish Cheeks, etc) the green curry is around $20-22. The shrimp tom yum was $39. The green veggie curry was good though with fresh veggies. The everything. aggie spring roll was interesting but the sauce was not quite what we expected. The vegan papaya salad was well executed. Also, it's not like it's a fine dining experience. The service is good and the ambiance nice, but it doesn't justify the price. They still rush you out like typical thai restaurants and the layout could make you think you're at any of the 9th ave joints but are paying more than 50% extra.

First off, Cholly was awesome! So cute and friendly, with sparkling makeup and eyeshadow. She really set the mood. This is a Thai restaurant, serving some more traditional fair while also serving some Thai street food. I came for the street food for sure. I had the BKK hotdog, made with northern Thai herb sausage, a brioche hotdog bun, picked veggies, roasted green chili, garlic and shallot mayo. It was smoky, so seasoned, and spicy in the best way (not unpleasant or "hot."). Some other selections include: Papaya pok pok, crispy kale salad, Asian salad, pak-mor, everything spring roll, BKK lollipops. They also have things like the brisket sandwich dip, short rib massaman, yaowarat beef stew, lychee duck curry, crispy pork belly, and so much more. The menu boasts so many combos of tender or fried meat, delightful herbs, crunchy vegetables, fragrant curries. The menu is huge, yet thoughtful, and I can't wait to return to try more dishes. For drinks I had the fruit cart cooler, the tamarind tango, and the chaopraya to Hudson. All drinks boasted fruits/ingredients like charred grapefruit, butterfly pea soda, toasted rice, charred pineapple. Creative drinks with depth that accompany the menu perfectly. You'll see this restaurant on some food influencer accounts. This one is worth the hype. And thank you again for a great evening, Cholly!

Came here on mother's Day without a reservation and the host was kind enough to sit my mom and I for an hour long visit. We both had pad Thai with prawns and this lovely dumpling appetizer that's pictured. The environment is nice and clean and warm a little romantic and the service was definitely professional. They could just be a little quicker as it comes to closing out the tab. Outside of that this is one of my favorite Thai places now and I look forward to continuing to be a patron.

Made reservations and got a comfortable seating for Sunday brunch. Good setup, comfortable seating, noise levels on the lower end , and friendly staff. What to get: Mushroom Fried Rice ($26) - with tofu ($3) - absolutely delicious. Who said vegetarian food can't be flavorful? Pak-Mor ($18), BKK Lollipops ($16), and Papaya Pok Pok ($15) - all were great apps. Tom Yum Pla ($45) - is a big portion, and we ended up not finishing it. BKK Fried Rice Crispy Pork ($28 - substituted with Chicken), and Goong Curry ($34) offered great flavors. Service was quick and staff was friendly. Menu felt a little on the pricier end, but they compensate that with larger portions.

I've dined here a couple times while visiting New York. The portions are hefty and one entree could easily feed two people. The servers are very attentive and friendly.

All the food was delicious. The Beef kra pow is a little spicy but none of the other dishes we had were that spicy. The lychee duck curry is better than what we got at Soothr because the duck isn't as rubbery here. We went for lunch on a Saturday so it wasn't crowded at all and the server was very attentive. Very clean and spacious. You could even sit at the bar if you want.

Cocktails! Top left: crust issues Top right: pandan paradise Bottom right: sticky situation
    Evan Z.

Cocktails: I had the pandan paradise, the strength of the alcohol is average but the sweetness of the pandan really helps to balance it out to create a nice and refreshing experience. My friends had the sticky situation and crust issues cocktails and they both seemed to really enjoy it. 5/5 Shrimp donut: I enjoyed the shrimp donut, it is exactly what it sounds like. But it is quite expensive at $18, would probably not get it again. 4.5/5 Pork belly: this was pretty average imo, the outside was definitely overcooked and slightly burnt and the pork belly itself wasn't that tender. I think the sauce helps to moisten the pork belly slices so I did somewhat enjoy the overall taste of the pork belly slices. 3.5/5 Short rib massaman: this was fantastic! Be warned, it is quite a large portion, even for me. They're quite generous with the amount of short rib they give. The curry itself was creamy and balanced, and the combination of the curry, rice, potatoes, and greens made for excellent bites beyond just the short rib. 5/5 The ambience inside is quite cozy. I think it's a fantastic spot for a fancy yet casual date/outing. Service was reasonably fast and the waiter let us enjoy our conversation with periodic check-ins. 4.8/5

Came here on a Tuesday night to catch up with a friend. The reservation process was pretty easy. The restaurant was going a restaurant week menu but my friend wasn't too hungry and we opted for the à la carte menu. We ordered the spring rolls, chicken lollipops, papaya salad and a pad Thai. All were very tasty. The spring rolls sounded a bit of a strange fusion but it was actually very nice. The papaya salad was fiery but bearable and the pad Thai was also good. The restaurant offers a wide range of cocktails at $18 each. We got the pandan ones - it wasn't too boozy nor too sweet. Place looks pretty nice and cosy - worth checking out!

    Green Curry - Lunch
    Vishnu G.

I went in for the lunch special and got green curry with fried tofu. The menu says that the only side available is chicken soup, but the staff offered me a salad with a satay type dressing as a sub because I was vegetarian. The curry was rich, herbal, and a bit spicy, with a good variety of veggies. It came with a mountain of rice. The salad was simple, but the dressing was tasty. It was about $25 after tax and tip.

This is one of the most delicious Thai meals I've ever had. The lunch deal is awesome. An entree and soup for $22. I added on a lager for $7. In NYC that's a deal for food of this quality. The interior is well designed, music creates great ambiance. The service is prompt and friendly. Go!!

There are a lot of Thai restaurants in the area, but this one stands out with its modern vibe, unique menu, and solid cocktails. I visited when they had just recently opened. The space: Sleek, stylish, and well designed. Not your typical hole in the wall Thai place. This one actually feels like a night out. The service: Everyone was friendly and attentive, and the overall vibe was warm without being overbearing. The food: - Wagyu Fried Rice (Spice Level 3): I usually have a high spice tolerance, but level 3 had me sweating, especially since it came out piping hot. Delicious, but be warned! Also a little tad too sweet for my liking. - Crab Fried Rice: Easily the highlight of the meal. Super generous chunks of jumbo lump crab, with a fried egg on top and a sauce that brought it all together. So good. - Shrimp Pad Thai: good but nothing special - Shrimp Donut: greasy and a bit fishy - Fried Whole Branzino: - Crispy Pork Belly: The only real miss. The skin was way too tough to chew. A few small cons: - All the plates were really sticky around the edges, which made it hard to move anything without getting your hands messy. -Their preset tip % is calculated based on the total, not the subtotal, which can be easy to miss since they just flash the reader in your face. Overall, I'd definitely come back, especially for that crab fried rice. Next time we'll also try some noodles. Just hoping they soften up that pork belly skin and fix the sticky plate situation!

We were greeted by very friendly staff members who, despite our early arrival, worked hard to get us seated as quickly as possible. The space's vibe is exactly what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Times Square area -- dimly lit, but everything was still visible, not too much noise while extremely busy, and very cozy atmosphere made super pleasant from such attentive, kind staff members. I was especially impressed by our server, Leena, who checked in with us regularly, gave excellent recommendations, and was clearly concerned about giving us an amazing experience. My wife and I ordered one of the seasonal offerings--a sweet and savory fruit salad--that was the perfect start to our meal. I ordered the massaman, and it was easily the best massaman curry I've ever had in the United States. Perfect spice level, the chicken fell right off the bone (even my wife, a vegetarian, commented on how clean the bones looked after I removed the meat), and the mixture of textures and flavors with the lotus seeds and onions really created the perfect dish. I am craving it just sitting here and writing this review! Prices? Honestly, I couldn't imagine a fairer deal given the quality of the food and service we received. I was utterly blown away. I cannot recommend Mitr Thai enough! I can't wait to return next time I'm in the city!

I first ordered the crispy spring rolls, which were very good. For my main I had the Massaman Curry. Now folks, this is my favorite curry of all time -- actually one of my favorite foods of all time -- and while it's common in LA where I used to live, it's not as common where I live now, in the Bay Area. And the restaurants that do carry it usually do not make it right and it's not very good. I am used to Massaman in the traditional preparation where it's more like a beef stew made with chunks of beef and needs to cook overnight. When done right it is the most aromatic curry ever -- it's almost like an aphrodisiac! -- and the beef comes out oh so tender. Usually if places have this curry but then offer a choice of protein, then it generally is not cooked properly, and that is actually how they prepare it at SaiTong. But because of such great reviews I decided to take a chance and try it. Well, let me tell you, it was definitely not the norm...it was absolutely delicious! I had it with chicken (they serve breast as default), and the chicken soaked up the curry really nicely. I also asked for there to be no onions, which I think alters the flavor of a curry too much. It does include the traditional potatoes and peanuts, and the potatoes were fine and cut into nice little chunks, the peanuts actually were thrown in raw.. what I think is the more traditional way which is to actually burn the peanuts a little bit, but that's okay, it didn't take down the dish any. Their brown rice is of the very dark kind, which I like, and goes so well with the curry. Service was wonderful from the bartender but was also provided by the rest of the staff and everyone was so nice. I left there feeling so satisfied, and cannot wait to go back and try some other dishes.

Less than 20 minutes later, the food was waiting for me in the hotel lobby. I ordered: * Cashew Nuts with Shrimp -- Bell peppers, onions, scallions, cashews, and dried chilies. * Dumplings -- Mixed shrimp and pork served with a soy vinaigrette dipping sauce. The Cashew Nuts with Shrimp had a flavorful, light sauce with just the right amount of heat. I really enjoyed it. My only disappointment was that the shrimp were battered and fried; I would have preferred grilled or pan-seared shrimp. The dumplings were more like shoo-mai than traditional dumplings. They were a bit dense but still flavorful and satisfying. Considering the quick delivery, the food arrived piping hot, and the excellent Cashew Nuts dish, this was an easy four-star meal.
