Was absolutely blown away by the quality of food and level of service of our dinner. It's pricey but I will definitely repeat.

We came here for lunch on Sunday. It wasn't busy as there were only two other tables besides ours. They only have the brunch menu on Sunday for lunch. I ordered the BA breakfast which came with steak, eggs, bacon, mushrooms, toast. Food took at least 30 mins to come out. Not sure why as they weren't busy. The steak was extremely tough and difficult to eat. I could not finish it. The toast tasted stale. The only thing that was cooked well was the mushrooms. We also didn't get a refill of water and were sitting with empty cups for a while, when we asked the server to refill she only gave a little bit of water to each of our cups. Overall I don't think we will be back - they are a steakhouse and can't seem to get steak right. We also had to pay for parking in the building. I don't think it's worth it to pay for parking, have to pay for additional parking time because they take a long time to serve food and not be served good steak or food. read more

Food is amazing. We had seafood tower that has seared scallops, pawns, grilled clams and grilled oysters on a bed of green. Clams were slightly salty for my taste but overall very enjoyable. The crab cakes were absolutely delicious. For main course, we had New York steak with creamini mushrooms, no doubt it was one of the best steaks in town. Our server Debra was very attentive, she came back to top up our water and brought drinks to us quickly after it was ordered. The only complaint was that the steak took too long. I had been going to the old black angus for years. One of our favorite spots to go for steak with the family. I was excited to know that the new location was going to be opening back up. I've been slowing hitting the steakhouses in Toronto with Black Angus being on the list for a while and now finally trying in its newish location. Having dined a few times at the old Black Angus across the street (now Harry's Steakhouse) years ago, I must say this is totally different experience - not necessarily worse though. While the old BA had old school decor, dark lighting feel, the new vibe is modern, open and bright. Overall, a great experience keeping in mind at high end steakhouses: be ready to pay for the quality. Drinks: we started with a BA house cocktail (can't remember name) but it was bourbon based with egg white and red wine. It was a strange mix - suggest a regular Whiskey Sour instead. Wine list is decent, not massive, and have a wide range in mark-ups - some were 3.5x while we had a good Barolo for about 2x retail. The main event, Food: Having read some earlier Yelp reviews, I was wary - but Ribeye steaks cooked perfectly and temperature was spot on. Mash potato sides were hot and right amount of butter. We started with Scallops and Tuna and were pleasantly surprised by volume (not minuscule portions). Both were fine tasting as well. Ambiance: like said above, its modern vibe with open concept. Tables nicely spaced out for privacy - depends though if you're in the mood for cheek-to-jowl Ossington restaurant feel. Service: no issues. Waiter attentive and manager-like person also came to check-in on us. Add Black Angus to your Toronto steakhouse list. I really like the contrast with Harry's across the street. Man this place was so disappointing. I walked in and the place was beautiful. I was greeted by a very nice host and my server was great. The special was half priced bottles of wine. We got a great deal on a fantastic wine. Unfortunately that was where the good ended. The Ribeye Steak - Cooked to the right temperature internally but was not seared nicely. It was a soft, soggy sear at best and the steak sat in a pool of juice that made it feel like a steamed steak with some grill marks. The Mashed Potatoes - I ate one bite and it was disgusting. 0/5. Cold, dry, lumpy and with no seasoning. Just gross. Parmesan Fries - Pretty good Brule Cheesecake - Plated nicely but tasted like it a Costco dessert with some bland berry sauce The worst part is that the billed ended up at almost $250 with tax and tip. We have been there at least 5 times and it has aways been fantastic. We go to celebrate things so we are never really in a rush. The one time (in the Summer mid pandemic) when the food did take a little long, before we said anything to our very polite waiter, David the manager came to our table and explained that they were preparing a big order for a part that slowed them down a bit. No only was David, polite and professional, and 'aware' about the food timing on our table, but he filled up our wine glasses and dessert on the house. The steak prices were outrageous, even a modest steak was over priced for what you received, can't criticize the food quality or service they were on point. Wonder how long they stay in business charging those prices! I was very disappointed with this restaurant. Other than the steak that was perfectly cooked as per our request (rare for my wife and medium rare for me), the rest of the food was average at best. I ordered the calamari as an appetizer and it was perhaps the worst that I have ever eaten as the batter was so thick that I could barely taste the calamari. The french fries were soggy within two minutes of being brought to our table. The same with the mushrooms... Not worth $360 for this meal (including tax and tip), especially since we only had one glass of wine each, tap water, and no dessert. To add insult to injury, we were given a voucher for the parking but it was worth only $5.00 (good for 30 minutes)... On a more positive note, the service was good. read more

This place needs some help. It has all the makings of a great after work drink/ happy hour spot- it has a patio, it's spacious, it can accommodate large groups- and it's beautiful inside... Our waitress seemed irritated to be there, unhelpful and generally unpleasant. Plus, the were constant miscommunications between the staff. Staff aside, let's talk about menu- First off- there's NO happy hour menu and NO drink specials. This seems like a pretty big miss-step for this location & venue. Secondly- if you want snacks for the table to nibble on, you don't have much to choose from. It's not hard to throw a few dishes on the menu like sliders, some kind of veggie thing or some sort of dip, so people can share. I asked the server what she could recommend for the table to share and she kept pointing out the small plates list (which consists of soup, salads and a handful of shellfish like shrimp & oysters). We ended up ordering the side vegetables that you would normally order with your main- cauliflower, beets, brussel sprouts and fries. Overall, we were really disappointed. The vibe was perfect with a great cross section of clientele. Unfortunately I can't comment on the food, as after waiting two hours for our main course, we had to leave. That said, they were genuinely apologetic and comp'd our drinks and apps. In fairness, it was day 3 since opening, and I actually felt bad for the managers, as I'm sure we weren't the only train wreck of the night. Surprisingly excellent, is how I'd term it. It is very rare to go into a steakhouse in an office building, very much off the beaten path, and come out satisfied. The place is well decorated, full of people and generally has a great vibe. I've had a business lunch there, and the noise level was not bothersome, despite a full house. We've been ordering takeout since the pandemic. Food is the best takeout we've had. Steak is one of the best cuts we've had. 12oz striploin is perfection. I was there last night, we were a party of 12. The company was great, the food was terrible!!! I ordered the filet mignon, medium rare my meat was dry and over cooked to almost a well done, I sent it back and ended up sharing so I wouldn't have to wait for a new meal. The mash potatoes tasted like they were made from a box, the roasted vegetable roots were under cooked to a raw texture the cappuccino was warm water diluted, it tasted like an instant type coffee, terrible!!!! We were not impressed with the new 'vision'. We had oysters (served on a flat plate so the liquid spilled out) and both had the california cut sirloin, medium rare and medium. The medium was way over done, almost gray in places and the medium rare was approximately medium. And strangely they no longer serve any bread at the table, you can only purchase very buttery garlic bread. Our waitress knew very little about the wines. It felt like an upscale Keg. Sad as Black Angus was our go to special occasion restaurant in the area. We will not return ever. If we want a great steak that is properly done and worth the cost we will continue to go to Barberian's where we have never even had an improperly cooked steak, something we used to be able to say for Black Angus at the old location. We don't even recognize this version of it. And when we asked if they still had their famous onion rings the waitress had no idea what we were talking about. We really question what the new owners were thinking, the table beside us (obviously old regulars at the previous location) spoke in length with a manager about the sub par food to which the manager kept saying people have different taste buds... No, that's not the point! This food was not good or properly made. It's very obvious that many of the business decisions are about cutting costs, from changes that include no pickles or bread on the table to no salt or ice under the oysters to stabilize them (who serves oysters just sitting on a plate?) Our waitress didn't even question the steak left on one of our plates hardly eaten as we basically shared mine that had some pink in it... Barely (ordered medium rare). Very sad ending for our experience of a restaurant that used to be in our top three in the entire city. .. read more

Been here a few times since opening, mostly for lunch and one dinner. Lunch was quite good, sandwiches and burgers and salads were nice,vservice was good. The problem they have is that they can't cook steak properly. I was there with a large group and all of our steaks were over cooked, by quite a bit. Interesting, I went to their old location and my steak was over done there as well. I wonder if the wood stove is too inconsistent. Anyway, even a medicocre steakhouse should be able to cook a medium rare steak! Beyond this big problem, I always find the service excellent. I'm rooting for this place, but I'm not optimistic if the can't cook steak properly. read more

I was a big fan of the old Black Angus. It was old school done perfectly. I eagerly awaited the reopening.... and was very disappointed. One of two things are going to be true: 1. Black Angus is going to try and become a nouveau chic steak house in which case they have a VERY long way to go and likely will end up becoming an "everything for everyone" option for canyon creek, slowly loosing staff and clients until they disappear. 2. Wow just amazing! Had the best French onion soup I've ever had. E V E R. Truffle Fries were so truffley. The potatoes! I don't know what they do to them...they're savoury and somehow sweet and are delish!! Perfectly cooked steak- we tried the carne asada special ...tender and juicy. Perfect amount of spice. Also tried the shrimp cocktail. I know you think how can they elevate a shrimp cocktail? But mmm just perfectly cooked shrimp. Yes everything was perfectly cooked! It was a busy Thursday but the service was still great. Our waitress was very nice and went out of her way to make sure we were enjoying ourselves. Nice decor, but at the expense of being less intimate and certainly not close to the old place charm. I use the Keg as a baseline steak measurement. Call it the McDonalds of steaks. This place falls into Jack Astors level but with premium prices. Over cooked and thin steaks. I can not believe this is same owners, but they have a long way to go and I probably won't go back. For a $600 bill you can do Jacobs steak and do infinitely better but I live in Kingsway and wanted something local. Lets see how Harry's does. read more

I recently attended a Winemaker's Dinner at Black Angus Steakhouse. It was fantastic. The decor is elegant and warm. The wine pairings were spot on and the food was delicious. The chef stood table side and explained each coarse as it came out. It was truly a fabulous way to spend a Monday night. Very disappointed in the Black Angus Steakhouse. Waiter came and took drink order which we received promptly then he disappeared for more then 15 mins. We had to ask another server to find him. We then ordered. The Cesar salad was a bunch cut up romaine with a curry dressing. Did not like. My husband ordered his steak med rare and it came medium well. My Halibut was dry. Had to flag another waiter to get a second glass of wine. Waiter never came to see how things were. When we were almost finished a girl came over to ask how things were. I replied it was just OK. She said great and left. I watched the table beside me who had a bottle of wine. The server never even poured then wine. They had to keep refilling their own glasses. Our dishes sat in front of us for a long time til I grabbed another waiter and asked if he could get our bill. Our waiter then brought our bill very cheerfully. I always tip 20 percent having waited tables when I was younger. I would have liked to have left zero but couldn't do this as it also affects the kitchen staff. I left 10 percent. First time ever. Went last night for my brothers birthday. Everything was fantastic. Candice, our server was super attentive and personable. Best service I've had in a long time. I am in the industry and I really appreciate when a server seems as though they actually care about the service they are providing. I had my three month old with me and Candice went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable, even offering me their private dinning area if I needed a quiet place to nurse. Amazing. Marginal at best for the price point. Started with what was supposed to be 'a great old fashioned' that wasn't memorable at all. Appetizers I will say were good...lobster bisque, tuna, shrimp cocktail, ceasar salad...all delivered. Main course was one fish (was okay) two filets (8oz) and 14 oz boneless ribeye. Both filets were asked medium (pink centre...sorry if that offends)...one was a little pink in the middle and one was rare but outside was seared and well done. I had a side of chimichuri sauce that had zero zip to it. The ribeye was medium rare request and maybe 2/3 met the request and the rest looked almost blue/rare. If you're a steakhouse and you can't cook steaks right what's the point...not to mention at those prices. Figure it out. Service was okay but long wait between apps and main and the place was not busy, atmosphere meh nice enough but even the Keg has better single glass of wine selections and gives you free hot bread. read more
