The pork was very well seasoned and the bread was soft on the inside with a nice crunch on the outside. He ate half before feeling full! I got the vegetarian bowl and thought it was delicious!! I loved the sweet plantains and there was a decent portion of avocado. The avocado vinaigrette was so good! You can get a bottle of it for $8! I also got an americano! It was strong and not bitter! Coffee lovers would love it! They do not have any syrups but you can sweeten your coffee with sugar if you want. I liked this place a lot. I'd recommend this place and will be back too. I love how this location achieves the company's mission of utilizing repurposed buildings of historical significance. It's a 1950s-style structure that originally operated as a gas station and car repair shop. Absolutely perfect for our book, "A Place We Knew Well". The retro mixed with modern is admirable. Arrived around 6:30 on a Friday. Able to park in the lot, but I can see how that might be more of a challenge at busier times. Having a bonafide Cuban among my party was helpful. She gave a thumbs up to much of what we ordered. All interactions with the staff present were quite nice and items were delivered in adequate timing. Prices are very reasonable. Loved this place! We stopped by Orlando for lunch on our way back up to South Carolina. Being Cuban, I don't have many Cuban restaurant options in my town, so stopping here was a wonderful change of pace. ​The bowl and the coffee were absolutely delicious. We even ended up buying a box of empanadas and croquetas before leaving so we could enjoy them at home. The servers were incredibly nice, and the diner itself had a great atmosphere. Ordered a chicken bowl via uber eats and there wasn't much chicken. I liked that it was breast meat but it was on the dry side and not very flavorful. Excellent food! I am used to the original one in Winter Park in the small tiny mall, but they have since expanded! I have not been there in a very long time and came with my husband and kids. The food was still exceptionally delicious and a good portion. I just wish the food was hot. I could tell that it was sitting there and that it wasn't extremely fresh, but it was still good nonetheless. I will definitely be back when in the area. This location has a small inside, but also offers patio seating which is great on a warm and sunny Florida day. To order you'll head inside and go to the main register. They have menus you can look at while you are in line. Be sure to check out the chalkboard for the daily / weekly features! At the register you'll notice some potato balls, empanadas, and croquettes in the case, which I would recommend for an appetizer while you wait for the main meal. The portions are generous, prices are very reasonable, and everything is delicious! Some of my favorites are the croquettas, iced cafe con leche, and their Havana pork plate. The plate comes with a side salad with this addicting avocado dressing, rice, beans, and plantains. It's a filling dish and everything on the plate is delicious and has great flavor! If you end up having leftovers of the pork, i highly recommend reheating it in a pan on your stove over medium heat. The day I find authentic Cuban in Orlando is finally here. And all thanks to Yelp. I even learned they have a second location giving the people more than one chance to try Black Bean Deli. The parking lot is pretty tiny so hopefully you'll have some luck finding street parking. You order at the counter and are handed a number to take to your seat while you wait for them to bring your food to you. The menu has a ton of authentic Cuban dishes available and some with a twist. We tried their media noche and the bread was out of bounds. Sweet and pressed to perfection. The steak sandwich came smeared with a delicious red sauce that complemented the steak more than I thought I needed. The Cuban sandwich is $9 before 3pm which we just had to try. Again, it was the pressed sweet bread for me. And the Havana pork bowl was chefs kiss. With a side iron beer IYKYK. The staff were friendly and patient while we explored the menu for the first time. Have been coming to the black bean deli for the last 10 years and I'm sad to say that I think their customer service, quality of taste and overall customer satisfaction has declined over the years. The staff is not as friendly as they used to be, there is no consistency in the quality of food taste and the staff take forever to work on the coffees. I finally got around to checking out Black Bean, coming on a Tuesday for the weekly ropa special, and unfortunately left a little disappointed. It certainly wasn't bad - for one thing, the ropa itself wasn't greasy, so that was a plus, but a couple of things kept this from being a satisfying meal: first, I found the flavor profile a little too heavy on the garlic. Also, for $15 it really wasn't a lot of ropa (and I don't even have a large appetite). By way of comparison - and this might be the issue - I was recently at Padrino's in Miami, where the same meal came with around 50% more food, with full table service (and non-disposable tableware), for the exact same price. Again, though, it wasn't bad, and I'd definitely be open to returning to try another dish. read more
