Winter 2025, Vegetarian Omelette plus a side of thick bacon :)
    Kathleen K.

We came here for a late breakfast on Thanksgiving & everything was great! The menu was limited due to it being a holiday so my husband ended up having the country fried steak with scrambled eggs whites & hash brown potatoes. Everything was delish with his breakfast with the only complaint being that it was just so much food & they cooked the hash browns perfectly! I had the veggie egg white omelette with the home fried potatoes & all was delish with mine as well, so much food that I ended up eating half of my omelette! We've been to another location & there was definitely a noticeable difference in a positive way. The cook definitely took pride in what he was sending out because it was obvious in the plating of the food. Our server was very attentive in taking care of us even though it was getting ready to be a shift change! We're always a little skeptical in trying a sister location if we've become used to our go to spot but we're glad that we tried out the Diner in Laveen! It definitely shows that Black Bear Diner stays consistent & that can sometimes be hard to come by!

Want to send a big THANK YOU to Black Bear Diner. This is the fourth year our company has had our Veterans Day breakfast at this location. They were very accommodating and even managed to seat us together. The food was great and the service was even better. Happy the manager also noted to the staff to expect us. The BBD is awesome.

Our grandkids loved the pancakes. We had meatloaf which is usually pretty good but the night we were there for some reason it was very salty. Service was good but giving three stars because of the meatloaf.

First time I visit this restaurant. Friendly service, excellent food, open kitchen. We went at 12:15 pm and by 1:10 pm we had already finished. My son ordered the country fried steak and eggs. 3 eggs, two rolls, country potato with fried steak with gravy. I ordered the new pudding pican, praline pancakes with guineo, we didn't even spend $40.00 between the two, I recommend it.

OK. I know Black Bear is a franchise. But this one need to step it up! I got The Breakfast Club and it was PATHETIC! All together it had one strip of bacon, one thinly sliced peace of ham, one slice of tomato on one of the the halves, and the hash browns were half of what they should be. Just sad!!! Bear is in your name! Sent it back and ask to have it taken off the bill. Sorry, Won't be back.

Bears choice birthday breakfast and a side of hashbrowns

This was my first time at Black Bear Diner. They sent me an email for a free birthday breakfast, the bears choice, so why not finally try it out? I ordered the bears choice with bacon and French toast and ordered a side of hash-browns. My daughter chose the cubs choice breakfast off the kids menu and my friend ordered the vegetarian omelette. The food was tasty, well seasoned, cooked to our asking and nice and hot when it arrived. Their menu is huge and they offer such a wide variety of items that I knew I'd want to come back and try more in the future. Plus, they service breakfast all day . The seating was comfortable and the tables were nice and clean. Where our visit left me giving 4 instead of 5 stars, was the service. Our waitress was not very friendly and almost seemed bothered by having to serve us. I'm not sure if it was an off day for her but hopefully she has better days. I certainly didn't let it ruin my day and I look forward to trying out Black Bear Diner again soon.

The highlights are the large coffee mugs, the portion sizes, and that they menu items are made with thought, so the only customization made was no butter on the bread. Tried both the protein breakfast and the build your own omelette. The protein breakfast was perfect as at came with cottage cheese and avocado included, and there was salsa verde on the side. I dumped that over the top and let everything absorb. zit was the right amount of food and great flavor. The build you own omelette is a customization in itself, but the fruit cup made it stand out as it was larger and included bananas at the bottom with enough blueberries and strawberries. They do have a ~$2 card fee, but for the cost of breakfast that wasn't enough to drop it a star. The 4.8 Google review is on the nose. We will be back!

We LOVED our visit to Diner 50 and this is now my go-to breakfast spot downtown. Everything was perfection. We loved the art inside and outside, music, and vibe. Our server was warm, enthusiastic, and had immaculate timing. We appreciated how playful and passionate she was. I swear she knew the name of every guest who walked through the door, and asked them thoughtful questions about their loved ones or travels. This is obviously a place that people return to and become regulars at. An excellent sign. What we were not expecting (and SO DELIGHTED WITH) was the cat rescue space through the adjoining wall. We are all cat-obsessed, so walking in and seeing a room full of absolute sweeties playing around added 100,000 points to the experience. The coffee? Epic. Served in a nearly soup bowl sized cup (hot) or gigantic mason jar (iced). Diner coffee can sometimes leave much to be desired but this coffee was soooo delicious and strong. The food? So awesome. I went with a classic breakfast plate - eggs, sausage, potatoes, blueberry pancakes. I added a biscuit because the menu said they were homemade and I had to try it. It was exceptional, I would go back just for the sausage and biscuit and coffee. My coworker got the huevos rancheros with red and green sauce and I was massively jealous. Everyone left over-caffeinated with bellies full of delicious food and hearts warm from being so well taken care of by our lovely server and getting to play with kitties. The prices are fair, the food and coffee are delicious and homemade, and the service is exceptional. I am someone who really values being involved with my community, so I feel great about spending my money somewhere that is clearly beloved by my neighbors and pours back into them. Thank you Diner 50 for being such an unexpected delight!

I should have known better when the waitress said they hadn't received their shipment of white gravy, and all they had was brown gravy. White gravy is butter, flour, and milk. It's just about the simplest thing for a kitchen to make, and they get it in a box. Worst yet, they can't make any from scratch while they're out of the boxed stuff..? I'm going to guess the brown gravy came out of a box, too, because it was unremarkable. The CFS was clearly frozen. Very chewy, and not much flavor or crunch. The menu used to be colorful and full of photos. Now it looks like the first Microsoft Word Template someone clicked on. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and the hash browns were decent. My guest had the corned beef hash and she was too full to finish it. So, I tried it and it was pretty bland, and looked like it came out of a can. I'll give them a second star for knowing how to cook an egg, but next time I feel like a good breakfast on this side of town, I'll just go to Denny's. Denny's is much better than Kay's.

The chips were soggy when I got my food. I liked the red onions, it added a little kick to the food on top of what the food offers to begin with. 6/10 Eggs over medium- not too runny how I like it. Velvety, the eggs weren't burnt crispy and was delightful. Meat was umami, savory and tender. Different than what I expected, had a little kick of spice. Beans were dry and bland. After being seated and placing their order, they noticed right away that the restaurant appeared to be short-staffed. The waitress did not come to the table very often, which made the service feel slow and inattentive. Another major issue was the temperature inside the restaurant. It was extremely warm, and it felt as though the air conditioning was not working properly at all. Customers were fanning themselves because of how hot it was. If the air conditioning was not functioning, we feel customers should have been notified before being seated, perhaps with a sign on the door or some other communication. At the very least, the restaurant should have had fans or another way to help keep customers comfortable. Unfortunately, the food was also a major disappointment. They ordered the catfish and grits, a dish they have enjoyed at other establishments, so they were looking forward to trying Brunch House's version. However, the catfish and grits were not good at all. The seasoning was not enjoyable, and overall, the dish lacked the flavor and quality they expected. Between the poor service, the uncomfortable temperature, and the disappointing food, this unfortunately felt like a very rough day for the restaurant. We understand that restaurants can experience unexpected staffing or equipment issues, but when the conditions are affecting the overall customer experience--especially something as significant as the air conditioning--we believe customers should be informed and the restaurant should consider whether it is appropriate to remain open under those circumstances. The bloody Mary drink was not good at all. Did not have any celery, olives or anything that should be included in a bloody Mary only gave a lemon and the bloody Mary was horrible. We really wanted to enjoy our first experience at Brunch House, but unfortunately, it did not leave a positive impression. Based on this experience, they will not be returning.

I sat at the bar and had a chance to ask my server a few questions about the place. She was super friendly, helpful, and made the experience even better. Definitely glad I found this spot. Great breakfast, great service, and one of those places you're already thinking about coming back to before you even leave. Also the got creative with the picture and art work super cool and clean spot . I'll definitely be back!

I was originally going to give full stars, but after the meal and was appalled at the management…read moreand support. We arrived at 7:50am, hoping for a quick breakfast before a doctors appointment at 9:10am around the corner. It took the waitress forever to come to our table because she was the only one up front. Totally reasonable. By 8:20am there was over 18 guests and still just her trying to seat people, give them beverages, make espresso, input orders, and basically manage everything. Again. Totally reasonable why things were taking longer. She was hauling a** and working hard. So imagine my utter dismay when I saw a man, probably the manager or owner just standing there like a jacka** not helping her but making polite greetings and conversation to the people at the bar. Utterly unacceptable to watch your employee or someone struggle with that many tasks and not do a darn thing about it. Looking so proud and like everything is just dandy as you lean against the doorframe doing absolutely nothing. Our waitress gets a five star rating but this one star reflects the behavior of whoever that owner/manager is letting staff drown around him. Shame on you.
