    Veterans Day Breakfast
    Jennifer P.

Want to send a big THANK YOU to Black Bear Diner. This is the fourth year our company has had our Veterans Day breakfast at this location. They were very accommodating and even managed to seat us together. The food was great and the service was even better. Happy the manager also noted to the staff to expect us. The BBD is awesome.

Our grandkids loved the pancakes. We had meatloaf which is usually pretty good but the night we were there for some reason it was very salty. Service was good but giving three stars because of the meatloaf.

First time I visit this restaurant. Friendly service, excellent food, open kitchen. We went at 12:15 pm and by 1:10 pm we had already finished. My son ordered the country fried steak and eggs. 3 eggs, two rolls, country potato with fried steak with gravy. I ordered the new pudding pican, praline pancakes with guineo, we didn't even spend $40.00 between the two, I recommend it.

OK. I know Black Bear is a franchise. But this one need to step it up! I got The Breakfast Club and it was PATHETIC! All together it had one strip of bacon, one thinly sliced peace of ham, one slice of tomato on one of the the halves, and the hash browns were half of what they should be. Just sad!!! Bear is in your name! Sent it back and ask to have it taken off the bill. Sorry, Won't be back.

Bears choice birthday breakfast and a side of hashbrowns

This was my first time at Black Bear Diner. They sent me an email for a free birthday breakfast, the bears choice, so why not finally try it out? I ordered the bears choice with bacon and French toast and ordered a side of hash-browns. My daughter chose the cubs choice breakfast off the kids menu and my friend ordered the vegetarian omelette. The food was tasty, well seasoned, cooked to our asking and nice and hot when it arrived. Their menu is huge and they offer such a wide variety of items that I knew I'd want to come back and try more in the future. Plus, they service breakfast all day . The seating was comfortable and the tables were nice and clean. Where our visit left me giving 4 instead of 5 stars, was the service. Our waitress was not very friendly and almost seemed bothered by having to serve us. I'm not sure if it was an off day for her but hopefully she has better days. I certainly didn't let it ruin my day and I look forward to trying out Black Bear Diner again soon.

As a regular patron of this specific Big Bear Diner location, we're lucky to have them in the 'hood. With the exception with their extremely busy hours (the lines can be an hour or more long) the meals are consistent, offerings generous, taste delish, atmosphere terrific and the service has always been fab! We've enjoyed on many occasions their Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner menus. Whether the Big Foot Chicken Fried Steak and Eggs to a really, really good Omelets or a variety of terrific Benedicts, incredible lunch sandwiches like their array of Specialty Burgers to Patty Melts or Club sandwiches, and a tasty Meatloaf, the Tri-Tips or Pot Roast, you can't go wrong - not to mention their moderate prices. We're regulars, and plan to be such for a long time. Keep it up Bear Laveen, great job!

We LOVED our visit to Diner 50 and this is now my go-to breakfast spot downtown. Everything was perfection. We loved the art inside and outside, music, and vibe. Our server was warm, enthusiastic, and had immaculate timing. We appreciated how playful and passionate she was. I swear she knew the name of every guest who walked through the door, and asked them thoughtful questions about their loved ones or travels. This is obviously a place that people return to and become regulars at. An excellent sign. What we were not expecting (and SO DELIGHTED WITH) was the cat rescue space through the adjoining wall. We are all cat-obsessed, so walking in and seeing a room full of absolute sweeties playing around added 100,000 points to the experience. The coffee? Epic. Served in a nearly soup bowl sized cup (hot) or gigantic mason jar (iced). Diner coffee can sometimes leave much to be desired but this coffee was soooo delicious and strong. The food? So awesome. I went with a classic breakfast plate - eggs, sausage, potatoes, blueberry pancakes. I added a biscuit because the menu said they were homemade and I had to try it. It was exceptional, I would go back just for the sausage and biscuit and coffee. My coworker got the huevos rancheros with red and green sauce and I was massively jealous. Everyone left over-caffeinated with bellies full of delicious food and hearts warm from being so well taken care of by our lovely server and getting to play with kitties. The prices are fair, the food and coffee are delicious and homemade, and the service is exceptional. I am someone who really values being involved with my community, so I feel great about spending my money somewhere that is clearly beloved by my neighbors and pours back into them. Thank you Diner 50 for being such an unexpected delight!

When it came out, the steak was smaller than I expected and pretty chewy. It also seemed much leaner than what I usually expect from a ribeye, with very little marbling. Because of that, it didn't have the tenderness or flavor I normally associate with that cut. I'd still recommend this place overall since my friends enjoyed their food and everything else was good. I'd just personally skip the steak next time and try something else.

He mentioned a pickle martini, which I ordered at lunch and was very good. My wife ordered the welcome burger and enjoyed it except for them getting the toppings wrong. Our granddaughter really liked her mac and cheese and there was a generous serving of sliced fruit. And my Jose Burger had just enough spice and was very tasty. That what's the good. So we stopped here for lunch on a Friday about 12:30 with our 3-year-old granddaughter. Our initial server barely said two words to us and we felt like we were an imposition. When we ordered my wife asked did they have Pepsi or Coke products he said we have bottles and cans of everything, so she ordered a Coke. It was Mexican Coke which is fine, but $5, and it wasn't until we noticed other people had cans of regular Coke and realized he did not give us a choice. When we ordered our burgers, again he barely said two words and did not ask us how we wanted them cooked even though the menu says cook to order. When we got them they were very rare, see the picture, which we're okay with although we would have ordered them a little more done. My wife said no onions on hers, and of course there was onions on her berger. Later we were served by a waitress who was much more friendly and we realize was probably just not there yet when we sat down, so the initial waiter didn't really care what we thought since we weren't going to be his customers at the end. So sadly what could have been a very pleasant lunch was spoiled by the initial waiter, even though the food was good we may not be back.

No contact from staff at all - servers and cleaners all over the place, but nobody had the time to welcome me or get me a glass of water. I left. Second visit, better, food was ok, (burger), but slow coming out. This time, I kept saying if the server doesn't stop by in 5, I'm walking. No server. I wanted 5 more. And 5 more. Just as I was getting ready to leave, she took my order. Fish and chips. It took so long to come out! 25 minutes? Just before it did, a table with two ladies received their food. As soon as it was dropped off, they got up and walked out. Hmmm... My fish came. Source on the fries, but at least hot. The fish? Hot ... but so over cooked it bordered on burnt. No flavor whatsoever. The crust was so hard I had to push with my fork. When it did give way, large chunks of concrete-like coating broke away. Crunchy. Flavorless. My bad. I should have sent it back and ordered something else. I paid my $18 + tip in cash and walked out. I'm done. I spend a fair amount at this casino .. convenient to home and I like my dealers. Considering we're at a Casino it was better than I expected. Food was brought out quickly and HOT! The fish was so flavorful. My guest really loved the breading, too. The only downside was my guest didn't care for the coleslaw at all. It was too watery and the cabbage didn't have any flavor. Check out the lighting and the open spaced seating. It was so cool. Open. Breathable. Thanks! Definitely recommend and can't wait to return v. soon!

The place is right out of a movie (maybe "Roadhouse" or "Urban Cowboy minus the mechanical bull). It's part biker bar, part honky Tonk, pub, and cocktail bar. We came for the burgers and were not disappointed. They were absolutely solid and worth it in every way. The nice, fresh beef patty was grilled to perfection and set in a soft bun with all the usual trimmings. I'd recommend you add thousand island for an extra touch of goodness. The resulting burger was juicy and meaty and drippy and excellent. It was not a throwaway "bar-food" item. The menu has a lot of great things in it, including sandwiches and all manner of comfort food and bar staples. A big surprise were the onion rings and ranch dressing. They were some of the best I'd had in a while. I found them better than the fries which were fairly standard. Others have complained about the service, but ours was really good at lunchtime on a weekday. Our server was also the bartender, and she was attentive and nice, albeit busy with all the workers that frequent this joint. It's filled with a mix of blue-collar, cops, office people, truckers, bikers, and just plain folks. And they play some great songs on the jukebox. Definitely worth it. And try one of the burger variations on the menu (with bacon or mushrooms, avocado, etc).
