4/27/2025, I bought 2 of the $11.00 pies that this restaurant are famous for. Wise choice.

Breakfast never disappoints. Food is always delicious and freshly made. Weekends is always packed and wait times can be a little long. Overall restaurant is always clean and service is great. So far we have not had a bad experience here and will be coming back.

Solid food, solid price. I had a birthday coupon that I wanted to redeem so we took a trip out to black bear diner. The breakfast is straightforward and tasty. The restaurant is spacious and the service is good.

First timer here and definitely would be back since the quality of the food, and the service provided to my mom and I were pretty good and quick. Came here on an early Sunday morning around 7:00am with no wait time before heading back to LA and honestly had no clue BBD offered such large portions enough to fill you up for the whole day. The plates are on the higher side, however, like I mentioned the plates are large enough to share or take home. I adore the cozy, welcoming vibe they have going on which makes you feel as if your up in the mountains. I ordered the Classic eggs Benedict with a pumpkin cold brew coffee which was really tasty! My mom ordered the veggie omelette with a biscuit and gravy as the side (she upgraded for +$1) which they weren't lying about it being the size of your head! She loved it, & said it was one of the best she's tried . Just moved back to Merced so I'll definitely bring my bf next time! Also, they have some of the cutest looking adult, baby, toddler, and pet pajamas, I bought a pair of onesies for myself and my pupper, really good quality for the price!

From…read morethe moment I walked in, the nostalgic decor and welcoming atmosphere set the stage for a satisfying meal. The service was attentive and friendly, making me feel right at home. I opted for the chicken parmesan sandwich, and it exceeded my expectations. The chicken was perfectly breaded and cooked to a golden crisp, while the marinara sauce added a rich, tangy flavor that complemented the dish beautifully. The generous layer of melted cheese on top was the icing on the cake, making each bite utterly delightful. The fries served alongside were equally impressive--cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunch. They were seasoned well and made an excellent accompaniment to the sandwich. Overall, this diner encapsulated everything one could hope for: quality food, prompt service, and an inviting ambiance. I left feeling satisfied and eager to return for another meal. Whether you're craving classic comfort food or just looking for a cozy spot to enjoy a meal, this diner is definitely worth a visit.

Staff here are friendly, there's a solid bit of history and kitsch in the very back on the way to the restrooms, giving character to what is otherwise a decidedly local, low-frills experience. The steak salad (was it a steak taco salad?) looked quite tasty but also ordinary so I skipped it and stuck with breakfast; the sausage and eggs were very much unremarkable, but at least the hashbrowns were nicely pan fried and the eggs were a large portion. Biscuit and gravy reinforced the former impression, but again, hard to complain-- did the job. This place is super affordable and the overall verdict is a solid local place that's easy to appreciate but hard for me to say I would actually get excited about.

There was a lot more salmon in the scramble than I expected which was a bonus! The fruit was great and the pumpkin bread was a nice unique twist to the classic breakfast side options. This server definitely deserves 5 stars! Now, the food. We heard good things about the burgers. We didn't have a burger however, we had a Jamwich? I'm not sure if that's the name but it's the fried chicken sandwich with various sauces. And we also tried the santa fe grilled chicken sandwich. I'm not sure of the name on this one either. The fried chicken sandwich apparently comes with two sauces. I only saw one and asked for it on the side because I like to taste the ingredients first. Well, it come with A LOT of the other sauce - maybe a Chipotle type sauce. I mean it was drowned in the sauce. The chicken was cooked in appearance but it ate like it needed more time in the fryer. It was kind of tough to the bite. If you're a chef or cook, you know what I'm talking about. The garlic fries are basic sidewinder fries dressed with parm and garlic. The other chicken sandwich was actually more enjoyable but the fries on that one were very very subpar. They do give large portions and the food looks good in appearance. We may come back to try the burgers since that's what was recommended.

If we got to go to the…read morelocal sizzler, growing up in Torrance, with my grandparents or my mom, it meant that it was payday! We didn't grow up with a lot so we didn't go to expensive restaurants. But when we got to go to Sizzler or Norms, it was a treat. I am in town visiting in Merced, and I have come to this location twice now. Once for dinner in June and again today for lunch. Both visits were amazing! And I am not saying that for the review, I mean it. The first time I came, I had dinner. I ordered the steak special, and I had one time trip to the salad bar. It's exactly how I remembered it. As a little girl growing up, because, as an adult, I don't honestly really go to Sizzler anymore, unless my mom says she wants to go, and my grandparents have been in heaven for about 20 years...so it brought back memories from my childhood for sure! And I love their iced tea too! What impressed me about today's visit is that the manager was at the the cashier station when I came today. I didn't look at her name tag right away. But she greeted me with familiarity, like she's met you before, we talked about the menu options. Because I wanted to go to the salad bar for a little salad. But I also want some protein, so she told me a way that I could have both and also save a little money. I followed her advice and then I told her what a great person she is to be working at the front end of the restaurant because I worked myself through college in the restaurant industry as well. Then I noticed her name tag, ANDREA, Manager. I smiled at her and I said, no wonder you're the manager. You are gifted at what you do. I put my stuff down on my table, and then I went to get my one time trip to the salad bar. As I was making my salad and getting my fruit, I heard her grieving the next couple of customers that came in. She was warm and friendly and welcoming to everyone. I'd stood out to me the most. Was this one gentleman wearing what looks like motorcycle attire? I don't know what to call it... He had a helmet in his hand. She said, "it's so great to see you again! Remind me of your name. I'll do my best to remember it for next time you're here"... I looked over at her, she was looking right at him and he looked exhausted and weary and hot... Her face was so warm and she looked at him with sincerity. Andrea is the manager at the Sizzler on Olive. My beautiful waitress is Ashleigh. She is going to have a baby in the fall, and she has the most beautiful smile ever. She is running this dining area like she is at home. Greeting everybody, welcoming everybody, and serving everyone like you're in her home dining room or living room. Look for her, the one with a pretty smile, having a baby in November, and you will be so blessed that you came to THIS SIZZLER! The food is great. Salabar's yummy. I personally love the iced tea. Cheese toast best in the world... At this SIZZLER, I came back for the hospitality, the customer service, and the warm smiles. And I'll be back again later this week!
