    Bacon Cheeseburger Salad
    Robbie R.

I used to never give Black Bear much thought and never cane here, but a friend of mine said it was really good, so I'll give it a try. This location is in Willows, just off the 5 freeway and I'm always it seems driving this stretch of road, so here I am with one other friend. The inside looks generically familiar and clean. Service was fine and we're seated fine. I ordered this double classic burger with house salad. The bigger burgers with 6 oz or even a 14oz patty seemed a little too much at the time. This classic double had two 3 oz patties, sort of like a double double at In N Out and a bunch of fixins, like lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. The side salad was large and higher quality lettuce than most chain places. My friend ordered something pretty different, a Bacon Cheeseburger Salad! It's a big salad that has everything a bacon cheeseburger has, except the bun. It's not a lettuce wrapped burger, but a real salad with a chopped burger patty on top with a pile of cheese and bacon, served with whatever dressing you want. He actually like it a lot, despite it seeming kinda weird to me. Looked good though. I was more impressed with Black Bear Diner than I thought I was gonna be. I'll come back and maybe even try other locations.

Thanks to all of you that made us feel welcome. Lil Bit and Mom and Dad

On Mothers Day my husband and I were traveling from Redlands back to The OC with our little fur baby. As we neared Willows I started looking for pet friendly places to eat on our route. Black Bear Diner popped up. We were thrilled. We love Black Bear Diner. I called to confirm that they did indeed have patio dining for Lil Bit. She said yes but I have to clean it up. I said OK we're almost there. I hadn't realized what I was asking. It was Mother's Day, they were swamped and it was hot and sticky outside. They went out of their way to accommodate us and we can not thank them enough.

This is the 4th Black Bear Diner I have tried. Definitely an older nostalgic feel to this one. It's right off the highway so easily accessible if your traveling. What stands out at this location was how nice the waitress Arielle was, the good music, and how quiet the diner was in the middle of the afternoon. Great place to stop if you have kids.

Cute Little diner. Very clean. Host/waitress was super nice. Food was done in a reasonable amount of time. I got the sourdough parm cheeseburger with fries huge portions. My husband got the Denver omelet with hash browns we also got a side of onion rings. Everything was so good I don't have a single complaint. I would definitely go again if I'm in willows.

I've been here plenty of times over the years, although I definitely don't make it in as often as I used to. Every time I come back though, I wonder why I waited so long. It's classic small-town diner food in the best way. Good portions, food comes out hot, and you're actually full when you leave. Breakfast especially is hard to beat when you just want a real breakfast without someone trying to reinvent eggs and charge you $19 for them. The service has always been part of what makes Nancy's Nancy's. Friendly, casual, and familiar. It feels less like going out to eat and more like stopping by a place that's just always been there. And being right at the airport gives it a little personality of its own. You can sit down, eat a good meal, watch what's going on outside, and forget for a minute that places like this are getting harder to find. I may not be one of the regulars anymore, but Nancy's will always be one of those local spots I'm glad we still have.

The people were super friendly that were having breakfast! They have indoor and outside seating and doggy friendly! They also had beer and wine and mimosas. You can watch the planes come and go on their shaded patio! Easy on and off the freeway! Ps. Love it's history about Doolittle using this strip as a training ground in 1942 against Japan..the old folks filled me in today! The bathrooms are clean and large enough to accommodate a large amount of people at one time. We decided to taste the gelato while waiting for our car to charge since we already had lunch, but looking at the fact that they make their own sourdough a sandwich would be a great choice for future stops. The gelato is made in house, and I had a lemon which was light and refreshing. My husband had the dark chocolate gelato. He said it didn't have a heavy milk based taste and not really creamy but very chocolaty. The server for the gelato was very friendly and let me taste first. I would stop here again even if I didn't have an EV car to charge.
