Visited February 28 2026. See my receipt as always. I ordered the hobo omelete with a side of biscuits and gravy for breakfast.. HUGE portions! The omelete was overflowing with bacon and ham. The biscuits and gravy were tasty! I am only about 130 pounds so most of this was to go and share it with my boyfriend. They have a good menu with alot of specials. Casual and comfortable atmosphere! They also have beer and wine and other drinks. I wanted to get a banana creme pie to go but they were out of them. They also have a cute gift shop centering around bears. Sandra waited on me and she was delightful! Friendly and hard working staff! Bring your appetite because the portions are huge! Convenient off of highway 5 with plenty of parking. I used to never give Black Bear much thought and never cane here, but a friend of mine said it was really good, so I'll give it a try. This location is in Willows, just off the 5 freeway and I'm always it seems driving this stretch of road, so here I am with one other friend. The inside looks generically familiar and clean. Service was fine and we're seated fine. I ordered this double classic burger with house salad. The bigger burgers with 6 oz or even a 14oz patty seemed a little too much at the time. This classic double had two 3 oz patties, sort of like a double double at In N Out and a bunch of fixins, like lettuce, tomato and grilled onions. The side salad was large and higher quality lettuce than most chain places. My friend ordered something pretty different, a Bacon Cheeseburger Salad! It's a big salad that has everything a bacon cheeseburger has, except the bun. It's not a lettuce wrapped burger, but a real salad with a chopped burger patty on top with a pile of cheese and bacon, served with whatever dressing you want. He actually like it a lot, despite it seeming kinda weird to me. Looked good though. I was more impressed with Black Bear Diner than I thought I was gonna be. On Mothers Day my husband and I were traveling from Redlands back to The OC with our little fur baby. As we neared Willows I started looking for pet friendly places to eat on our route. Black Bear Diner popped up. We were thrilled. We love Black Bear Diner. I called to confirm that they did indeed have patio dining for Lil Bit. She said yes but I have to clean it up. I said OK we're almost there. I hadn't realized what I was asking. It was Mother's Day, they were swamped and it was hot and sticky outside. Black bear Diner has Always been a great place for My family and I to have dinner. Unfortunately, this Thanksgiving wasn't one of those days. 2 of us had the Turkey dinner. 2 of us had prime rib dinner, and one of us had macaroni and cheese. 4 of us had stuffing on our plates. Sadly, it tasted and smelled like it had been sitting on the shelf for 10 years! The waitress didn't know what to say. And the cook acted like he didn't care. So We paid our bill in full $167.00 and decided as a family, we probably wouldn't be back. BTW the macaroni and cheese was $16. read more

This is the 4th Black Bear Diner I have tried. Definitely an older nostalgic feel to this one. It's right off the highway so easily accessible if your traveling. What stands out at this location was how nice the waitress Arielle was, the good music, and how quiet the diner was in the middle of the afternoon. Great place to stop if you have kids. read more

All you can fish on Fridays until they get tired of serving you: one piece at a time I can live with, but serving cold and uncooked fish pieces. I can't wrap my head around why they did this more than once at my single visit. read more

Cute Little diner. Very clean. Host/waitress was super nice. Food was done in a reasonable amount of time. I got the sourdough parm cheeseburger with fries huge portions. My husband got the Denver omelet with hash browns we also got a side of onion rings. Everything was so good I don't have a single complaint. I would definitely go again if I'm in willows. read more

Just ate at this black bear and was charged 13.99 for a waffle that normally comes with the meal that i order. Been to different black bear in bay area and NEVER been charged for it. we asked but didnt want to argue. just paid. It is what it is but they are open Thanksgiving night and we are here every year. Service is super friendly and attentive. Food does the trick. I will say they do make a solid chicken fried steak. The Cobb Salad was horrible and took over an hour to make. Chicken was over cooked and cold - twice. Asked for no onion but there were plenty. The waitress that took our order disappeared and the waitress who followed did her best. Two tables walked out while we waited for our food. Bad experience and won't be back. We had the small appetite, chicken, fried steak and meatloaf. Both came with green beans and mashed potatoes even though it was for a small appetite. There was plenty. The people there are very friendly and go out of their way to make sure you're comfortable. They have incredible pies. All of these things are made by scratch. I did an online order for biscuits and gravy , and if I go to black bear diner again , it's going to be in chico. Just a few months ago I had biscuits and gravy, and the container was full With plenty of gravy. Well , this time I order from willows , and there's One biscuit and barely enough Gravy , it was super dry and the bacon didn't seem like it was cooked long enough. I'm really disappointed.I mean spending $11 on 1 biscuit and barely any gravy.Next time I'm just gonna go to Wendy's.Why get the same amount but for only four bucks. The staff was really kind When I picked it up. I gave them 2 stars, Only because it was so easy to order Online , and they had it ready when they said they would , and also the staff was kind when I picked it up. Ugh... This is the absolute worst Black Bear and the company should be embarrassed... On a Monday road trip stop at 9am it took over an hour for food for myself and two kids... There was one cook and one waitress... And there were only four tables being used... Avoid this stop at all costs. After 45 minutes our food arrived. The bacon was cold and fatty on everyone's plates and the over easy eggs were broken. I love Black Bear but this location is horrible. read more

Good morning, we are a family of 6, was excited to have the kids try Black Bear Diner In Willows, CA. We walked in and the middle aged server yelled out to the chef, looks like we got 6 at the door before she even greeted us, seemed rude. She cleaned a table or two and then said follow me this way as she walked thru the wait station where they keep all the coffee cups and employee items. Ambience was gloomy. My husband got the Scram bowl for breakfast, was good except they poured gravy all over the top of it! Kids pancakes were dry and hard to cut, will not go back to this Black Bear Diner. read more

It was our First time at this black bear diner location on 7/22/2021. We had to wait about 10 minutes to be seated but the employees were all working hard so we didn't mind the wait. Our waitress Stephanie was very nice and took our order pretty quickly. I had the Parmesan sourdough cheeseburger (6 Oz) and onion rings my husband had the Turkey and gravy dinner. Both of our meals were very good. The Parmesan bread that my burger came on was on was delicious! We loved all the cute bear themed decorations and the cute paper menus! If we are ever back in this area we will fir sure stop in to eat again. They appeared to be understaffed but the workers all worked well together and were all in a good mood. Solid diner options as usual with Black Bear. I ordered a 2 egg combo with a biscuit and a side of gravy. My friends and I came here about an hour and a half before closing time so it the evening was quiet and winding down. Our waitress/hostess Helen was absolutely amazing. Hmmmm. Where to start..... So I ordered a BLT online for pick up. I ordered at 3:30 and received an email that it would be ready for pick up at 3:52. At 3:55 I arrived and was told they just needed to get the drinks ready. Getting the 2 iced teas took 30 Minutes. I Brought my food home and lo and behold no tomato on my BLT. Listen. There are three friggin' ingredients in a BLT aside from the bread. How in the name of all that is holy can you screw up a BLT?? Black Bear Diner in Willows can. Love this place for its charm and history and fun carvings. It was Covid out door seating so we didn't get to experience the cool bar stools Or open kitchen view. Food is never prepared correctly, my 3 year old granddaughter could cook better. When you order biscuits and gravy you receive broken up dry biscuits with no gravy, my daughter's burger was bare with no condiments and the bun was burnt black. After calling the issue was not resolved, and they refused to rectify it. Stating once its handed off for delivery it becomes a third party issue, even though Black Bear cooked the food. I do not recommend Black Bear, actually I would avoid it at all cost. This is not the first time we've had issues, but this is the first time they refused to repair their mess up. If you want food you can actually eat, and food that matches what you were craving or ordered, I recommend you go anywhere other than Black Bear. read more

Waited 15 minutes to get coffee after we were seated. Then another 45 minutes to get our food. Saw our food sitting at the counter for a bit then saw the waitress reheat our omelets and French toast. When we finally got our food it was not that great. The sourdough bread was not fresh. Will not be coming here again. The waitress was nice though. Ended up going to McDonald's drive thru because my son did not like the French toast...said it tasted funny. read more
