We love that our instructor is the owner and a sixth degree black belt (Grand Master). Grand Master Kong is a father and is excellent with kids. He is hilarious, skillful, and keep the kids engaged. The curriculum was developed by Grand Master Kang, former Olympic Head Trainer and 8th degree black belt (Master King's father). This place sucks...$220 dollars per month, plus $60 to get a new color belt every two months. The curriculum is poor and never changes. If you want to learn Muay Thai, you need to pay extra. The master,who btw is a while belt in Muay Thai will be teaching the art. Not sure how that works, white belts teaching white belts.. read more

I spend 9 years at this place.....the master only cares about money and has on interest teaching proper martial arts. He was promoted to 6th degree only because his father is the grandmaster. I witnessed him failying his 6th degree test and was allowed a red. I am only 14 Years old and I was denied my 3rd degree in the art after the master lied to me about a testing date. I asked him for a "testing application" (for the scheduled testing date) and he said we were not testing on that day. After my dad confronted him, he allowed me to test, (on the day he said we were not testing) only to fail me (never failed in 9 years). If you want to waist money and not learn the art this is the place for you. Your 220 dollars per month are better served feeding the kids in Africa. read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! This is an updated review after my initial positive review. My grandkids (5 and 8) and the other kids and adults in their class have now completed their second belt. WOW! The skill, dexterity, precision, discipline, and respect have SKYROCKETED! Master Kang and Grand Master Kang provide the PERFECT balance of discipline and fun. All of the kids (and adults) seem to thrive in this environment! There were kids that back in August I thought would be kicked out or quit--and now to see how their focus and discipline has improved so dramatically it brought tears to my eyes. Absolutely the Best Tae Kwon Do studio in California. I was looking for a sport for my active son and after researching we decided Tae Kwon Do is a full lifestyle dedication so we decided to look near by. After visiting 5 different places, doing trial classes, and hearing pricing I have to say Black Belt Academy is the only option! Master is excellent with kids, patient and kind. My son is 3 years old taking taekwondo classes and so far everything has been very good! I liked that the Masters looked for alternatives to continue teaching during the covid 19 pandemic by zoom, because the children are at home if doing any physical activity and doing 45 minutes of taewondo is very good exercise! read more

I have been training Taekwondo here at Black Belt Academy along with my daughter for a year. Master Kang and Grand Master Kang provide top notch ITF/WTF level training suitable for both youth beginners and adult advanced Taekwondo students. They have an excellent training program that provides a balance mix of Poomsae's (i.e. Forms) and sparring for students who looking for advanced training. both my daughter and I spar regularly and we have both made great strides in our competency within just one year. It doesent hurt that the Kangs have Olympic Coaching Experience, as well as specialized coaching background for other martial arts. I am absolutely pleased with the level of guidance and patience the Kang Family has provided both my Daughter and I. Master Kang is great with kids. My son was initially very anxious, but after just two classes he can't wait to go every week.
