In the middle of back-roads Clinton/Tecumseh you'll find this hidden gem of a winery. Great atmosphere and cute place. Wines weren't so great but found a drinkable one after trying a tasting flight, then switched to glasses. This is not the place for a bachelorette party, more like a euchre table or quiet chat with friends. We tried an assortment of munchies from the menu. Definitely tasty if you like the cheeses offered. They also have beer and options and I think I recall a cider or sour. Make this a stop for a glass and check it out. Would give zeros stars if that were an option. We went to enjoy tasting and we were told that I could not have my service dog. First by the employee and then by the owner, that rather than asking the legal questions, chose to seem to think my dog was required by law to wear a vest. Sir, you are concerned about being sued regarding a dog bite? You should be concerned about being sued for turning away a federally protected service animal. You don't get to decide if a dog is a service dog Under both Michigan law and the ADA, the definition of public accommodations is very broad. It includes: hotels and other lodging establishments public transportation and terminals, depots, and stations restaurants and other places that serve food and drink service establishments, like barbershops and doctor's offices any place of public gathering, such as an auditorium or convention center gyms, bowling alleys, and other places of exercise or recreation recreational facilities, such as zoos and parks libraries, museums, and other places where items are collected or displayed publicly educational institutions, and social service centers, like senior centers, homeless shelters, and food banks. The ADA establishes a civil right to bring your service animal into a public accommodation. Michigan's service animal law is included in its penal code, which makes it a misdemeanor to deny you and your service animal access to public accommodations. If the tasks your service animal performs for you aren't obvious, the public accommodation can ask you only two things: whether the animal is a service animal, and what tasks it does for you. The facility can't do any of the following: ask about or require documentation of your disability require documentation of your animal's status or training, or require a demonstration of the tasks your animal does for you. A public accommodation can ask that your service animal be removed from the premises if it isn't housebroken or it's out of control and you're not controlling it effectively. This place is really tucked away in the middle of nowhere, but it was a lovely find! They have an amazing back porch that overlooks fields, and some seating out on the lawn as well. There were heaters on the patio for fall, but I wish they had fire pits as well; that would be perfect! My boyfriend loved the sangria so much he bought a bottle to go as well! My favorite was a A-Bell; although I didn't really think it tasted like spiced apple, I really liked the taste! Tastings are a good price, and we had a really nice time tasting everything. Our last wine stop of the night. This winery has some great wines and ciders that taste amazing. The owner was working the night we stopped and he really puts a lot of pride into his business. There are some decorations for sale. The place had plenty of seating and was exceptionally clean. This is well worth the stop. The prices were average . There were crackers for the samples and 6 generous size samples cost $5. read more

We hosted our 50th Wedding Anniversary party at Black Fire Winery and had a wonderful time. The venue was perfect for our family and friends, everyone enjoyed themselves. I decided to sip the Cranberry table wine I picked up from a wine tour and before I knew it, the bottle was empty. A great black owned winery just 50 miles from Detroit. The watermelon BlackBerry hard cider is also great. Wine, hard cider and micro brews beers. Something for everyone. read more

I couldn't wait to find a reason to drive 60 miles to see this place as I've heard so much about it. We didn't make a special trip but coupled it with other business we had in the area. However, we were a little disappointed. What we loved about the place was the location; tucked away in the back roads, cute, quaint, clean, inviting environment. What disappointed us was the service, and not because the young man serving was not doing a good job...he was simply overwhelmed with customers: customers, with money in their pockets, ready to spend...and they had to wait and wait. This place is a gem and should be treated as such by the ownership. The young man behind the counter was hustling as fast as he could. He simply needed more help. The lady who was out in back cleaning tables in the yard should have been inside waiting on customers. We were finished with out flight before we got the snack plate we ordered...in fact, we didn't get the snack plate until we went back to the counter and asked for it; then it took forever for the lady who had been previously cleaning tables to wrap it up for us to go. With the proper staffing and greeting, this could be a great place to hang out. The wines weren't great but good. Having spent a lot of time in Napa Valley, we are used to excellent staffing and service. This place could be a little Napa if it could be properly staffed. We'll come back to give them another try, but we were disappointed. read more

There are so many options to try and there wasn't a wine or cider I didn't greatly enjoy! The service was friendly and attentive. I was on a bus trip yesterday 6/8/2019, with the Fred Hart Williams genealogical society. We visited a museum in Tecumseh and then we visited the winery. There were about 48 people on the bus, we tasted many of the wines, cider and beer. The owner knew we were coming and welcomed us with open arms. We spent almost three hours tasting, taking pictures of the vineyard and purchasing our wines. I personally bought three bottles. My favorite was the blueberry wine, sweet delight and the sangria. This was my third visit to the winery as they are beginning to host dinner venues. My first visit was a friend introducing me to the winery. It was nice... small... homey. Wine was palatable... some better than others The second visit was a wildgame dinner which was indeed delicious. This third visit was themed Date Night ($35/plate) which was serving a prime rib dinner. It was a different caterer from the previous meal. They were pre-sliced slabs of over-cooked (grey brown in color, both myself and my friend assumed it was meatloaf when we saw them in the tray ) meat. Not tender or juicy. We had butter knives to cut with which could barely penetrate it. Most of the food was cold even though the sternos burned beneath the trays. There was lasagna which was mediocre but the best of the lot - by far. Is that generally part of a prime-rib dinner? Not in my world. My dinner roll was literally ice cold. The desserts were previously frozen ( i presume)cheesecakes whose graham cracker crusts were wet and soggy. None of that was worth $35. It was equivalent to food served at a poorly catered wedding reception. Only downside being it wasn't open bar. The owners were friendly as usual. I had a member of our party who failed to show and I had hoped that a fair/just adjustment would be offered: ie. refund/ store credit/ carryout box( again the lasagna was edible) but everyone behind the counter that I tried to discuss it with just brushed me off and referred me to the owner... He merely flashed his affable smile but later offered me nothing in exchange. I understand that once you give your headcount to the caterer you cannot adjust for no-shows. However I should at least have been credited for the glass of wine that went with that meal. They could have offered the meal to go. (Again the lasagna was edible and I could have fed the prime rib as treats to my dogs... whatever) I have messaged him and he says nothing he can do... I don't agree. He could do lots of things to settle the situation but he obviously chooses to do nothing. He has just stopped responding to my messages..Totally non-professional. My advice is to check the reviews of the hosting caterers companies before purchasing into any of the dinner events otherwise you might be disappointed. read more

Menu does not give good descriptions but typically lists from dry to sweet. Just wanted more description. Bar was full so sat at table and sign clearly states to go to bar for assistance. Ordered a cheese plate for palate cleansing and the smoky cheddar was good but left lingering smokiness even after crackers. Nice experience but not one to repeat unfortunately read more

We went there for the first time in the summer and we didn't realize they were closing in an hour. The owners could not have been more accommodating. Letting us do tastings after the place had already closed. The wife is an awesome mixologist with the ciders and I thought their wines were amazing. We have continued to go back. After reading one of the negative comments below about someone being turned away from wine tasting, I believe we were there on that day and they had an unexpected bus tour that came in and they were overwhelmed and the owner kept apologizing. Give the place another chance because the owners are very welcoming and friendly. They have a nice patio to sit out on in the summer with acoustic music on the weekends.
