Toasted cinnamon swirl bagel with honey whipped peanut butter
    Adam C.

While I don't eat bagels all that often, these were definitely the best bagels I've ever had. SO GOOD! I got the Westerner which tasted pretty much like a breakfast sandwich. I loved it though. Especially the cheddar pepper cream cheese since it had a little jalapeno mixed in so there was a subtle kick to each bite. And because I love peanut butter so much I had to get the cinnamon swirl bagel with the honey whipped peanut butter. I got it toasted which was great, highly recommend that. But that peanut butter spread was so delicious! And with the little bit of honey mixed in, it gave each bite just a hint of that sweetness. Mmm. Both bagels were large and so soft which reiterated just how fresh they were. And I loved how many different bagel options they have as well as all the different spreads to choose from. Great spot for breakfast, lunch, or a sweet treat.

I got the Westerner, he got the burning haystack. Both were fantastically delicious! Highly recommend!

Great bagel spot- chewy and wonderful bagel where they can do half and half smear on the same bagel. Our favorite was everything with cucumber dill and onion and chive.

Delicious! Ordered a byo bagel and thought it was very good. Bagel was toasted but could have been a little more warm. That cheddar pepper spread though

This was my final stop before leaving Rapid City. I got there right as they opened up at 6:30a. For an early morning, the staff was very friendly and cheerful. I knew I wanted a pumpkin bagel since it was a seasonal item; but then I saw they had a "pumpkin sizzler" which was a pumpkin bagel, with pumpkin cream cheese, and a crème brûlée torch (plus some cute googling eyes). It was delicious though a little too sweet for 6am. I also got a green tea which was good. Overall, I liked this place and would try it again, I recommend it if you are in the area.

I knew I wanted bagels at some point on this trip. While I was willing to go to an Einstein Brothers because we don't have one locally, I was excited to find a locally owned independent bagel shop. Black Hills Bagels knocked it out of the park. My husband got the burning haystack bagel sandwich while I got an Asiago bagel with plain cream cheese. We both felt like we died and went to heaven with our first bite of our breakfast. Staff were super friendly and our food came fairly quickly. We also came at the perfect time because as soon as we ordered and moved over to wait for our food, the line magically became extremely long. That was our first indication we made the right choice for food. They also have tote bags that are like a large size of what is used for reusable bags at grocery stores for sale for $3, which we ended up buying. We were very glad we made this choice for our first meal of the day because we have about 7-8 hours of driving today as we head home from our long road trip back to Michigan. If in the area and you enjoy bagels, Black Hills Bagels is a must. You won't regret it.

First time in to Black Hills Bagels. They have a huge selections or bagels and cream cheese. It's definitely pretty expensive for what it is-a bagel with cream cheese is almost $5. Order at the counter and you are given a number to sit down with. It took close to 30minutes to get my nova lox bagel which is a pretty long wait. For $13, the lack of lox was disappointing. As seen in the picture, there was 1 piece of lox per slice. The onion and chive cream cheese was the best part of the sandwich, just wish there had been more. I order the Hogs and Cheese without cream cheese to go which they forgot about until I reminded a worker. Then when I got home it was made wrong so we had to drive all the way back to get a new one. Overall not worth the price but probably better than the Einstein's across the street.

I like this idea of explaining how the drinks are made.

First time stopping in. Super friendly service from the young blonde girl. Bagels were super fresh with plenty of cream cheese. Everything bagel was good and the Italian Parmesan was good as well. Easy parking in and out with seating inside. We will be back!

Coastal cowboy- Sesame bagel with cream cheese, avocado and sprouts. Cinnamon bagel with honey infused peanut butter.

The bagel varieties and cream cheese flavors are much more than your chain bagel shops. The place is large with many sizes of tables. Will be back for sure!

Great quick stop on the way out of SD on the way home! WOW! I wish I found this place sooner! I ordered the Westerner, and I think it was the best bagel sandwich I've ever eaten. Service was nice, quick, and helpful, when someone else tried to run off with my sandwich haha! Place was clean! Parking was easy right out front!

Chicken Salad is tasty but portions are small.

These pastries are rather bountiful. We selected the cardamon roll, coffee bun, cinnamon roll, morning bun, chocolate croissant, and a slice of banana bread. We got these mostly to go home for future nibbling but had to sample each. I expected the cinnamon roll to be the winner but the coffee bun was by far the most outstanding with its cookie butter filling. The lattes were exceptionally delightful with the right amount of espresso kick and the syrups were not too sweet. The quiche was like a slice of cake! Light, flakey, and delish. My breakfast sandwich was unexpectedly wonderful with a toasted brioche bun, egg, sausage and garlic aioli. Bitesized potatoes made the small plate complete. Believe me, you won't be sour from choosing to dine here. You'll be back!

It was fresh, flavorful, and impossible to stop eating. The hot Calabrian salami was equally impressive. What an excellent little breakfast spot in downtown Rapid City, South Dakota!…read more We went early one morning on our way to do some business in Rapid and we found tons of street parking right in front. The place was fairly quiet, so we got right up to the counter and placed our order for a apricot "pop tart" pastry, an Elvis waffle, and a turkey avocado sandwich with a coffee & an Americano. Service was congenial and swift. Seating is rustic and hip (they have an adorable Volkswagen van inside the cafe) and lots of nice seating. The coffees were great and the petite apricot "pop tart" was super tasty. My turkey sandwich was fresh with high quality turkey breast (looked like it was shaved off a breast of a big roasted turkey, not traditional cold cut pressed turkey) and delicious fresh ingredients (fresh avocado, sprouts, beautiful bread), but my husband's waffle stole the show! Smothered in peanut butter with sliced bananas, chocolate chips, and whipped cream, that was on top of a perfectly executed Belgian waffle - I kept stealing bites! It was absolutely delicious!! Looking forward to returning and trying something new (if I can keep myself from ordering the Elvis waffle or that delicious turkey avocado sandwich again!) ;)

This restaurant was one I found during a trip to Rapid City, SD and through YELP, so shout out to…read moreYELP. This is very much a diner style restaurant in the very best sense of the word, "DINER." The night I dined here, it was somewhat after the usual dinner rush, so the crowds were gone and the hostess led me to a corner booth near the back of the restaurant and handed me a menu. Like many diners you may have eaten at, the menu at COLONIAL HOUSE is huge. As I get older, huge menus are becoming more intimidating because they offer a large volume of selections that you have to choose from while a server is waiting (sometimes not all that patiently). That having been said, there is enough variety on the menu here that if you can't find something you'd like, you are probably a very picky eater. One surprise and also an intimidating one was the humongous portions that are delivered when your plate arrives. I knew immediately that I would not be able to finish the meal and resolved not to try and ask for a take-out box once I ate what I could finish. My dinner (what I managed to eat was excellent) and the server had no problem providing me with a take-out box. The food kept well in my hotel's room fridge and reheated well the next day for lunch. The baked products at COLONIAL HOUSE were a feast for the eyes and I ordered a piece of strawberry shortcake to take with me back to my hotel. Mouthwatering delight! If you are visiting Rapid City and want to completely SKIP over the far too numerous chain restaurants in the area and get far better food brought to you by servers who actually seem to like their jobs and the reputation of their employer, look no further than COLONIAL HOUSE. Just make sure you come with a completely empty stomach and a big appetite.
